I never understood tractor "duels". If I plough my field I don't care if I do it 0.5 seconds faster with a john deere vs the Ford. All I care is to get the job done and not have any breakdowns !
Well I care. I always knew a 7840 was no good to pull. I’ve used both tractors. 6610 proves itself in the videos it’s far more capable for road duties. Like drawing slurry. Smoother gearbox too. So if asked you to draw slurry and you had to pick either of these tractors in the video. I presume it would tell you which is better.
@@ferguson20diesel49 Yeah, the blue 7840´s and also the 8340 were no frills, and comfortable tractors to drive, but they always lacked on the torque side. Back in the days I saw several 8340´s get owned by green 6610´s, especially on the road pulling grain or slurry. One farmer had both and was pulling wheat from the combiners to the grain company, something like 5 maybe 6 miles each way. The Deere pulled approx 15T load on a dual axle wagon, The 8340 pulled approx 12,5T load also on a dual axle. The Deere was still faster round trip than the 8340. Just before the grain company there was a small hill, but it was kinda long and really separated the bulls from the sheep. The Deere clicked one gear down and hauled A@@. The 8340 had to click 2 gears down to climb it. The 7840 with an added turbo and a decent trim makes for a totally different animal in the positive way. Ford engines always woke up well when force fed. Think of the old Ford 7000´s. They were beasts for their time.

7840 in standard forms just a 6.6, about 100hp. Some had turbo's and a naughty 120+... The 6610 is more in line with a standard 8340 power wise,

@@ferguson20diesel49 7840 isnt supposed to compete with the 6610, thats the 8340s job, which is also a much nicer tractor with a beast of an engine
@@therustylemon2369 still not the most powerful with turbo. We had them from new.
