Lyrics : I know that you're wondering who I dream about And if I met someone who thrills me so Well, I've finally met a girl who turns me inside out I'll tell you about her for you ought to know You comb her hair every mornin' And make sure she dresses just right You comb her hair every mornin' And put her to bed every night When she's around me sometimes I can hardly speak I stammer and I walk right into doors And just to hold her hand in mine makes me feel weak Oh, you know her honey, she's a friend of yours You comb her hair every mornin' And make sure she dresses just right You comb her hair every mornin' And put her to bed every night
I thought it was about his daughter but when he says, "You know her honey, she's a friend of yours, I'm confused. WHO IS HE SINGING ABOUT? I love this song & EVERY song GEORGE has done..Just trying to get who he's singing about...
Thanks for posting this song, I Love George Jones, and most of the country songs from that era, Real Great Country . Not like the songs they label as country songs nowadays.
Betty Price Sorry to burst your bubble. This song was was written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard not George Jones. George released this song in 1963 and Georgette was born in 1970.
@@DOSv622 Yes, but here he's singing it on Hee Haw Season 2 Episode 18 that aired on Jan 26, 1971. He does a duet with Tammy Wynette on this episode, too. So Georgette can look back on this performance and be proud of her parents.
One of GJ's greatest songs -- and yet banned from many radio stations and compilations for decades -- because through a simple misinterpretation, every single word of the lyrics can be viewed as detailing a pedophile's intense obsession with an acquaintance's young daughter!
What?!!! I've been a George Jones fan for many years. I don't recall this song ever being banned from the radio for that reason or any other reason for that matter. Now just where did this ridiculous tale come from? I have yet to find this information anywhere on the internet.

I know that you're wondering who I dream about
And if I met someone who thrills me so
Well, I've finally met a girl who turns me inside out
I'll tell you about her for you ought to know
You comb her hair every mornin'
And make sure she dresses just right
You comb her hair every mornin'
And put her to bed every night
When she's around me sometimes I can hardly speak
I stammer and I walk right into doors
And just to hold her hand in mine makes me feel weak
Oh, you know her honey, she's a friend of yours
You comb her hair every mornin'
And make sure she dresses just right

I love this song, it was hard to get it played the last 10 years before George passed away. He is gone but not forgotten. George was a great artist.
The greatest. What a tone in that voice. Impossible to recreate. G.O.A.T.
I love this lady 💖💖
Mel Street

💯% concur! Nothing better once we've had the best & George Jones was the BEST!
I heard George on a TV show when I was a kid tell the announcer that this song was about his daughter, Georgette.
William Lewis She wasn’t even born yet when George released this as a single in 1963. Georgette was born in 1970.
This came out several years before she was born, tho.
great song for his daughter georgette she must be so proud of her mum and dad

@@MadMax-lo1lm So it must have meant more to him here ( as opposed to 1963) as Georgette was only a few months old.
Great song
i love this song
My interpretation of the song is that it's not about a child at all. The singer is reassuring his jealous girlfriend/wife that he's thinking of her.
Love The possum

Written for George Jones by Hank Cochran!
hahah this was my papas fave song but he passed away on the 13 of October
Some of his finest renderings were on Hee Haw.

Que tristeza que fue un cantante de country muy bueno pero sucumbió a las garras del alcoholismo
He sang this better in later years

how terrible . what a way to ruin a lovely song .
When this song came out back in 1963 I dont think most would have viewed such a womderful song in that light. No way.
