    I have basically no mechanical knowledge and replaced the belt in under an hour, saving about $100. Thanks for the vid!

    Your videos ware a big help when I changed the serpentine belt and alternator on my '98 F150 4.6L. I used a 1" diameter, 2 ft long pipe to get added leverage on my 1/2" ratchet handle. The torque was perfect and made releasing the belt tension a breeze. I found that I didn't have to move the hose support but I did remove the air intake from the throttle body.

    Thank you for the video it was very helpful. Especially pointing out the diagram. I would have likely noticed it after the job was done. The Idea of looping the belt around the pulleys individually was also helpful. Had difficulty reaching pulleys until I removed the hose bracket and pulled the radiator hose forward and out of the way. I also needed to remove the air filter to I could see and reach the bottom pulleys. Thanks again and keep them coming.

    You may want to have the battery and alternator checked to see if they're working correctly.

    Glad I saw this. I thought I had to feed the belt through the fan blades.

    Thanks for this video...saved me money when my belt broke and I replaced it myself ($20 buck fix!). But dude you made holding that tensioner down and slipping the belt over the alternator TOO EASY...LOL That is what took up most of my time trying to get hold it down and slip the belt over! Thanks again though!

    Thabk you again for video we did exactly like u said but one thing we almost screwed up was under the big pulley in the middle theres a bolt close to bottom of it on the 01 expedition 5.4l engine we had the belt going over it then we corrected it and runs great.thanks again

    Thanks for the video! If I wanted to change both the belt tensioner and the serpentine belt would it be easier if I remove the fan cover and perhaps the upper radiator hose? Or would that be a waste of time?

    Good video, but I find on my 98 Expedition, taking the air box and air intake off gives you much better access to everything. I see some replace the alternator and belt without removing all of this, but it is frustrating how tight it is to get to stuff. Anyhow, thanks for the video!

    At first when it got cold in las vegas it sounded like my alternator was making a loud squealing noise so i got serpenting belt spray and noise went away then heard clicking then thats when i seen a small tear on left side of belt i trimmed it so it wouldnt catch on anything and tear it more then i seen on right side a little torn...how much would it cost to go get fix and installed i have so much mistrust of shops this looks easy so im gonna go buy belt and hope i can do it.great video

  • @jdochstader
    @jdochstader 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No i dont think so,because i put a totally different battery in it to see if that would work and it didnt.the alternator is brand new.all the postive cables are new now.havnt replaced the neg as of yet.thanks though.

    Both sides on different points are frayed how long do i have before it breaks..the car drives good but i trimmed the small part on side of belt that was hitting everything

      You may want to check the pulleys to see if there's a sharp edge or anything that's catching on the belt. You may also want to see if the belt is tracking right, or if there's a pulley that's off balance. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
