Sims 1
Food stands were first introduced in The Sims: Hot Date and more were added in every expansion after. Food Stalls give Sims an opportunity to replenish hunger while on community lots. Sims can purchase food or drinks from these stands, and can choose from up to three different types of foods, depending on the vendor. They can buy, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, sushi and many more. In The Sims 1. the vendor prepares the food before handing it to them. After ordering the food Sims will find a place to sit or they will eat the food standing up.
Sims 2
in The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, Three food stands were introduced -a food stand for every vacation destination. All food stands have a hunger and environment rating of 10. Every meal costs §25. Sims don't talk while ordering the food. you'll be charged after choosing the meal. in The Sims 2, every meal is prepared by the chef. After your meal is ready, the chef will bring it to you. If the food stand is located in a vacation destination, Sims can ask the chef for travel tips. One Complete Diner- is a fast food stand that was added in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. It can be originally found in Belladonna Cove. Sims can purchase hot dogs, hamburgers, and gyros, each of which cost §25. The clock on the diner is actually moving and showing real in game time.
Sims 3
The Sims 3 Food Stalls were added with The Sims 3: Seasons. They can be originally found on the local festival ground and vary from season to season. Unlike The Sims 2, food is not prepared on these Food Stands, they magically appear in your Sim's Hands.
I wanted to mention the Snow cone machine. After choosing a flavor, your Sim will grab a cone, manually open the small window, scoop the snow and mold it on the cone and finally drizzle the syrup on top.
With Sims 3: Island Living two more food stalls were introduced, that can only be placed on a resort.
Even though it's not considered a Food Stand, I wanted to mention the Ice Cream Truck. Sims 3: Late Night introduced the Food Truck that can only be found in Bridgeport. Food trucks appear and disappear during the day and they always set up their shop at a special parking space. There is no visible driver or a vendor in both the Food Truck and the Ice Cream Truck.
Sims 4
Food stalls were reintroduced in The Sims 4: City Living. In Some worlds, food stalls differ depending on the day of the week, while in other worlds, food stalls never change.
With Sims 4: University five new food stands were introduced. On this food stand you can also buy food to go, that will come in a bag. Also with drinks, and they are poured manually.
with Sims 4: Snowy Escape were added five new food stalls and many different food option to choose. If Your Sim has a Junk Food Fiend lifestyle, they'll have the option to add bacon or sugar on a meal. Every Season has it's own food stand, spring, summer, fall, winter
With Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle, one more food stand was introduced. On every food stand you can haggle for the price.
And finally, there is the Selvadoradian Food Stall introduced with The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure.

I love how NPCs had all unique voice actors just for them in the Sims 1. That's something they did way less in the Sims 2 and stopped doing altogether with the Sims 3 onwards.
im cool with Sims 4 but one thing I will never understand is how fast they eat, like they just sit down and while the other are going to sit down, the first one already finished in a second
and all of them fitting according to the theme very well!
The Sushi vendor has the most distinct voice, followed by the ice cream guy
If you still have it (sims 1) I can reccomend Parsimonious for downloadable stands. They have unique food vendors cloned from the originals, and copies (earlier ones look unique but sell the same items, unlike later versions)
Also, Secret society of Woobsha has some excellent cafe/bakery stuff from Ínes like the strawberry items (you can grow them at home have a home lot sellable set but the same items in downtown/holiday/commercial lots become store items.
The Sims 1 Sushi vendor actually sounds like she's speaking Japanese 😂 I love it.
She actually is. "Arigatou" "Koredashite" "Itadakimasu" even bids you farewell with an "Itterashai masen"

I never got to play ts1 growing up so seeing how much detail, love and variety there is in it thanks to these videos makes me a bit jealous

I found them all very interesting, but I confess that I only started to use food stalls more with The Sims 4. Until then I thought a mechanic was kind of useless, since the restaurant was more fun. Except in The Sims 3 which was a magic hole.

A $15 dollar hotdogs?!!!!?? That's a hell no, even in a game.
I think it has something to do with how hard or easy you can make massive amounts of money in the games. For example in earlier entries pizza was $40 by the time you hit The Sims 4 the price is nearly half of that, but in The Sims 4 you ironically can make a fortune the fastest out of any installment yet. The Sims 1 really reflects the struggles of earning and keeping money that exist in real life. The Sims 2 and 3 try to create a balance for this and mostly succeed. The Sims 4 though simply doesn't care about the life simulation aspect that made the series so famous.

@@tintaverse That's actually true to life. If you have a hot dog from a hot dog vendor in real life you're likely to be hungry again within 45minutes to an hour.
This time The Sims 1 is really a winner to me , they have variety of food stand and unique interactions , also I love the Sushi vendor with her cute voice 🥰, sound really like japanese , plus the excitement when Sims buy cotton candy ! I love this video , keep watching it ... Sims 4 may have variety of food stands too but still they dont have any special interactions ..

TS1 definitely won this one. I love all the unique voices and interactions. Also how the vendors actually cooked the food, cleaned the tables, wiped their hands, and the customers could wipe off crumbs from their chests. Definitely unmatched here!
The winner is TS1 for me. The game offers more variety in many aspects. Different Simlish accents for vendors and unique personality for them, many types of food ¡the many animations to prepare each food is amazing! Is sad to see thats features never went back again :(

I'm still blown away by how pretty and atmospheric the Sims 1 item are.
Sims 1 is so wonderfully charming! Maybe that's why I was so obsessed with the food stands as a little kid lol. Why is gumbo served in a cup with a straw, though!?

The fact Sims one has so many options for food stands, the way sims eat the burger with a knife and fork all prim and proper, and the fact the Sushi vendor actually speaks Japanese words. It's so good.
Sims1 and 2 is just so realistic compared to 3 and 4. But I also liked how diverse The Sims 4 is with their food stalls. I mean to include Vietnamese, Indian and Filipino food stalls. And the sims 3 for having food trucks. Mix them all together and you might have the perfect gameplay
You forgot to mention that there were two food stands with the High School Years expansion pack, one of which is required for the high school lot and one of which is required for the thriftea store.
If a food stand from a different expansion pack is placed in addition to the required food stands on both lots, all food stands in those lots will behave very weirdly.

All sounds, all graphics from Sims 1, it will always be the winner for me, my nostalgia is just too big because Sims 1 is my childhood game.
Sims 1 wins, but for an oversight - Sims 3 University Life has the barista bar that's very similar to Sims 1 one and serves pastries and drinks, and Sims 3 Store has the popcorn and candy floss machines, though they aren't as nicely animated as TS1 ones.
Sims 4 wins for the much variety of food. While Sims 1 wins for the nostalgia of the vendor style.

The fact that Sims Open a Counter Cabinet to get things like Bowls, Pots or Pans out of the Cabinet before placing the cut up ingredients into them, and in the case of a bowl. a spoon to mix it from the drawer. which is Only Present in The Sims 2, neither 3 nor 4 replicated this Detail, nor have I done proper justice in the full description of what the Sim actually does
As a Filipino myself, I'm so glad that they added some of the Filipino snacks on the Sims 4 that we loved to eat such as Siopao, Lumpia, Ensaymada and Adobo. :>

This is actually a rare part from The Sims 2 that I'm really dissapointed with because the game does not have those food stand varieties like The Sims 1. If it does, I bet the objects and animation detail would look so cool to watch in the game, even if devs just replicated the animation from The Sims 1.
Sims 4 has been using food stands to make up for the lack of original ideas and the unwillingness to create fresh animations. I'd rather have 4-5 food stand types with unique behavior each than 20 food stands which only differ by the sign and food list.

You forgot Sims 3 popcorn & cotton candy, harvestable stand, cupcake stand. I think they should be counted cause your sims can technically buy from them. But I don't really see a winner because they all are good and I love them in each sims generation.

As introvert girl, the sims 2 relate with me in real life. I will minimize social interaction with staffs. Always order the food at the smart screen and pay with cards or scan from my phone. I hate to talk with someone and must repeat again. I ever order a food but takes forever to come and they serve me wrong. Hate it so bad. When I ask the cashier lady, she give me bad attitude and say that is what I order. Geez...
That's why I only eat outside after read review on internet about any restaurant or cafe. If they have a system that guarantee give me the right food that I order then I will come or quietly make order even when come alone just like in TS2.
Sims 1 for the win, but I must say Sims 2 vendor with the plate change animation shows how detailed the game is, along with the fitted seating. Though I prefer just the stand and the seating will be separate tables and chairs.
Also Sims 3 and 4 food magically appears and then the empty plate disappears when it's done? Boo...

S4 wins with the food variety by far, but Sims 1 wins with the animation: the social interaction with the vendor, the vendor cooking the food, serving and then the plates getting cleaned up 👏!
Sims 1 and 2 really had so much attention to the animations.. sims 3 and 4 cut animations short or removed them entirely when ever they could, which makes me so frustrated.

I liked Sims 1 and Sims 2 food stands the most, as there is a wide range of choice (in the first Sims) and you can see the chef cooking.

It depends on the angle. The pizza sprite is fixed and doesn't rotate, so your Sim may eat it crust-first. XD
Sims 4 have more choices, but I like 2 & 3.
Sims 1: Soo many food options and details on preparing the food. The graphics aren't very good but it's the very first sims game so I can't judge it too hard. 9,5/10
Sims 2: Again, very detailed (except the ordering part). The food is looking very delicious too and I love the idea of introducing hawaiian food but there is a way smaller food option unfortunately. 7,5/10
Sims 3: More food options again but no more details in preparing the food nor having actual interactions. The food looks good but it still feels bland to watch. 6,5/10
Sims 4: More food options than in the Sims 3, I also love how they introduced some completely new cuisine we hadn't before in any Sims franchises. Unfortunately it's not detailed at all again and the food doesn't look very appealing except a few. 7/10
For me the winner is the Sims 1. In terms of variety of food Sims 4 comes second while Sims 2 takes that place in terms of details during the food-making process and disposing the empty dishes. (Though Sims 1 and Sims 2 share the #1 place when it comes to the details.)
The last rank in terms of variety of foods is the Sims 2 and the last rank in terms of details is the Sims 3 (bc the food magically appears in their hand. In the Sims 4 they at least served it on a plate by hand)
