Sims 1
In The Sims 1, Sims can prepare a single meal or a group serving. But they will always prepare the same meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner, regardless of their cooking skill level. Higher cooking skill will reduce the amount of time a Sim needs to cook the meal, and will reduce the risk of fire. The servings will also be more filling.
With The Sims: Makin' Magic Sims can now make few more meals using a special oven. Using the special oven, and combining the right ingredients you can make a bread, Homemade Cake, Carrot Cake, Elderberry Pie, and a Magic Tart.
Sims 2
The Sims 2 expanded food and cooking to a whole new level. Now Every category has different meals to prepare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When preparing a meal, Sims will pull out utensils and pots from under the counter as needed. As Sims build their cooking skill, the number of meals from every category will expand as well. Sims will prepare meals faster, and the risk of burning the food or causing fire will be lower. Cooked meals in The Sims 2 will produce steam. Like in The Sims 1, The Sims 2 also has a food processor available. Sims can also use a microwave when available. The Microwave in the Sims 2 spins.
Sims 3
Cooking returns as a skill in The Sims 3. There is also a natural cook trait. Like in the Sims 2, Every category has different meals to prepare. When preparing a meal, Sims can crack an egg. Unlike The Sims 2, Sims won't get utensils and pots from under the counter. Everything needed will teleport in their hands. But the batter will always spin when mixing
the level of cooking skill will determine the level of quality, the variety of meals that can be made, will unlock some moves while cooking.
Sims 3 also expanded on vegetarian meals with the vegetarian trait.
Food processor is also available in the Sims 3. Sims can also prepare some quick meals in a microwave. The food in the microwave won't spin.
Sims 4
The Sims 4, definitely expanded food and cooking to a different level. Without a doubt, The Sims 4 has the widest range of recipes and different cuisines to learn and experiment. The Sims 4 has more than 100 different recipes, including many vegan and vegetarian options.
Every category of meals is expanded. and Sims that are cooking while inspired, will level up the cooking skill faster. While cooking, Sims won't pull utensils and pots from under the counter, but Similarly to The Sims 3, things will just teleport in their hands.
As Sims continue to raise their cooking skill, they will unlock new recipes and tricks, this also reduces the risk of causing Fire while cooking. There won't be steam coming out of the dishes.
A Stand Mixer was one of the small kitchen appliances added with The Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack. A steam cooker was also added in that pack. Sims can now make even more meals with it. This stuff pack also added a waffle maker. Sims will put some kind of waffle mix directly on the waffle maker. With this pack you can also make pizza.
Achieving Level 5 Cooking Skill, unlocks the Gourmet Cooking Skill . and a lot more recipes. As we saw in the previous Sims games, while cooking, aside for the for the stove, Sims can also use the oven.
Who is the winner?
My favorite little detail from the sims 3 is that you can regularly go grocery shopping for ingredients and that having them will make recipes free to cook. It’s neat because when you see the prices pop back up you know you have to send your sims out to go shopping again. It feels realistic
Tesss you can also garden them too. Gardening in TS3 is one of my fave activities there's always rare seeds at the graveyard in sunset valley
@@gravity_agreste9591🤨
You needed to go grocery shopping in 2 though it was less convenient as you had to literally do a loading screen to go to a grocery store lot or have them delivered. 4 also lowers prices if you have ingredients (there's even a simple living lot trait that makes you have those ingredients to cook) but again you'll have to either get them delivered or be near a booth that sells groceries. I found the rabbit hole you could drive to the to be the best combo of convenient and immersive
@@rosariojailene Also: Why grow anything yourself when you can just raid the community garden!
I've only played 3 and 4, but I can definitely see why 2 is so beloved, them getting the pots from the cabinets? Love it.
Yeah same here (with a bit of 1 I borrowed from my Cousin accasionally). Everytime I See sims 2 footage I'm like: "Damn I wish they kept that"
I really hate how sims must do tricks while cooking food in TS4 I find it really annoying, just cook you're food like a normal person & stop throwing stuff around! lmao
I wonder if there is a mod for them to just cook and not toss things around
Nah, I find it hilarious lol
@@ninavaj8059there is but the mod author said they kept some in because otherwise the cooking animations are extremely repetitive. the sims team literally just used these over exaggerated tricks to disguise the fact that they didn’t animate any actual cooking
@@Ches19. lmfao, geesh
It’s also annoying watching them do something unsanitary with their food because they just couldn’t help but show off. Like… If ya just cooked like a normal person ya wouldn’t drop your food on the ground.
Sims 1: Basic
Sims 2: Extremely detailed
Sims 3: Realistic
Sims 4: A Circus Show
all sims games ever
Sims 4: doll house
Sims 3 realistic? EXCUSE ME? While sims 3 summons the kitchen supplies from AIR, but not the sims 2. You called REALISTIC.
@@Avucoda B-buh mah open world! Nothing more realistic than people with personalities that are like cartoonish stereotypes running around collecting random junk off the ground for virtually no reason and walking into fake buildings with blurry jpeg interiors... Also, don't you and your car teleport together whenever you need to go anywhere, and pass through other vehicles on a regular basis?
As for the scope of cooking it's rediculously unrealistic. Last time I checked when I open my fridge and don't have the ingredients for a meal, I can't just pay for the ingredients Sims 1 style and have them appear. At least with 2 leaving the ingredients you buy ambiguous in the form of food points it is easier to suspend disbelief... 3's weird hybrid system where you can buy groceries but don't have to just points out to your face the logical inconsistancy everytime you make a meal.
@@Avucoda i think they mean the fact that, for example, when you mix the batter the batter moves. And when they pour the batter into the pan, it doesn’t teleport in like sims 2
Basically both focus on different details that make the cooking look cool to watch.

The sims 1: no.
The sims 2: standing waiting.
The sims 3: Look sideways, up and open the oven to see if the food is ready.
The sims 4: 💃🏻🏃♀️🏋♀️🙆♀️😀
In The Sims 2, the characters also open the oven 😊
The sim can also walk away from the oven while the food is cooking; miss the pickup time and enjoy the house fire. Can't remember if they can do that too in The Sims 3.

La 3?
Sims 2 had the smoothest animations by far and the best details. From what I've seen through gameplay, I barely see anything locking into place, and I just love how they open drawers just to get the utensils they need.
Sims 3, while not as smooth and detailed, is still pretty good and it has its own details that Sims 2 didn't have. Plus most of the recipes aren't just placing ingredients in a bowl and mixing them.
Sims 1 is fine because it was supposed to be the foundation to all life sims so of course the later ones would do things better.
Sims 4 on the otherhand... What am i even watching? Why are the Sims throwing their utensils around? Like I get that it makes it more fun to watch but I don't like how they're doing it with everything. Plus some downgrades we've seen are how they just dump the ingredients into the cutting board, how the saucepan automatically appears on the stove, and how the baking pan is already in the oven and they just dump it in there. Why is Sims 4 so obsessed with dumping things and why do ovens and dishwashers open automatically?
Sims 2 > 3 > 1 >>> 4
Sims 3's scope was too Big for it's own good. So they scaled back the animation Details a bit
@@keit99 Yeah Sims 3 could've waited a few more years or at least release in 2010 instead.
Sims 4 is obsessed with dumping things just like the devs dumping its quality which result in the worst sims game ever.
They animated Sims in ts4 juggling salt shakers while cooking, but not fetching utensils. It's just so half baked (pun intended).
They put their heart into sims 2
@tdenzel101 cinematic storytelling... on The Sims? And graphics demands aren't also an excuse either. The problem with The Sims 4 isn't graphics, but actual content and gameplay. No amount of graphics makes a game good. Besides, TS4 graphics aren't even anything out of this world, to make it a lot more difficult to make said content.
And making games was a lot easier? In what sense? There were technical limitations back then, both on development tools, and also on the users computers which added yet another challenge.
There's no excuse for TS4. It's literally a game made on the foundations of a mobile game and made up to be the biggest cashcow as possible without having enough content to justify the outrageous amount of shallow DLCs and absurd pricing.
The Sims 2 is pure ASMR.
А как же сбор урожая в Симс 3?

I mean yes they are many but if you consider the Shit 4 lacks gameplay, love, passion, ambition and functionality… the recipes won’t do much 😭
All of that but the food visuals in sims 2 still looks better 😂
well, not personalities since every sim in ts4 acts the same when cooking lol
Did you know that there is a new and improved Sims Game coming soon called "Life by You" ? It's made by Will Wright, the original creator of The Sims and the Maxis production studio 🩷 its the game we've all longed for as Sims Fans.. Sims 4 was absolutely disappointing and you could tell that it was a quick cash grab for EA..that's why Will started a new production studio to give us the game we've always wanted 🥺 improved graphics, it's open world (unlike Sims4), new activities, accessories and a lot of stuff that would normally be sold as separate add ons 😩🩷 it's just all-round a better game !! They even posted a few Game plays on their TH-cam channel (also called "Life By You") - *keep in mind that the Game plays on their channel are on the unfinished game 🥰 they still need to add voices/ a language and fine-tune a lot of things !* I really don't know how he managed to do it without getting copyrighted by EA 🤣 that's also why there isn't a language yet because they have to create a new one similar to simlish 🥰
If you're a Sims fan then please show them some love by following their TH-cam channel 🥺🩷 He spend all this money because he's ashamed of what happened to the Sims and how disappointed many of the fans were..
OH I ALMOST FORGOT TO ADD: ITS CUSTOM CONTENT FRIENDLY 😍🩷
Sims 4 is as exaggerated as the society has become.
The Sims 2 is, hands down, the well-cooked meal in the series.

Agree bc it’s more realistic and have way better meals
Well-cooked game as well
@@aeoligarlic4024 That's what I wanted to get across with my post
Choosing the ingredients was so cool
I never realized how ahead of its time The Sims 2 was. It came out in 2004, literally 20 years ago and its attention to detail and gameplay is what we SHOULD have in The Sims 4… It’s like the developers went backwards. The Sims 2 and 3 were definitely made with love, passion and dedication.
I know everyone will say 2 is the best, but I want to take a moment to appreciate the little details in 3!
I think that The Sims 2 e 3 are both the best

Sims 2 may have some of the best animations, but Sims 3 has the best implemented cooking with its various meals, the skill level requirements, and their use of appliances. It might not look as good, but there's more to offer in the feature department.
Can‘t agree more ❤
Yup totally agree 😊
I think sims 3 couldn't have too many detailed animations like 2 because the sims 3 already requires a NASA supercomputer to run the program. I appreciate the diversity in the appliances and recipes.
@doom3798you also need some mods to help with bloat and routing issues (overwatch and error trap, plus master controller for reset everything). and an fps limiter. the gameplay is there for ts3 but the performance is rough without some work.
The sims 4 tricks are trying to distract from the fact that the sims don’t dance together anymore
No, they're trying to distract you from the fact that all recipes are just cutting veggies for a salad, and no two ingredients appear at the same time on the board...
@@adrianblake8876well yes
You forgot to mention that in Sims 2, if you have Seasons installed you can grow and fish for fresh ingredients, which if you cook with them will give the meals a sparkling look to them, indicating improved quality.
Yes! Thank you for mentioning that ❤️❤️
And if you make anything with persimmon, you get 🌟Instant Diarrhea🌟
The theatrics and sudden bursts of laughters in the sims 4 is so grating!

While Sims 4 definitely expanded the cooking, the simplification of the process with the teleporting utensils as well as over-the-top animations (the knife spinning, the bowl flipping) can get so annoying after a while.
The Sims 2 had so many tiny details, for every single thing
The likes we’ll never see with the way they keep making games now 😣
You forgot how the Sims 3 also requires appliances. Hot dogs require a microwave unless using a grill
They also forgot that food in TS3 requires ingredients, and uses the correct one even in base game. TS4 requires Cottage Living just so eggs, milk and meat would be available as ingredients...
@@adrianblake8876 So far in the base game in TS3 like there are only 2 recipes you NEED to find the ingredients for which is Angel cake (Forgot the name of it) And Ambrosia

I feel like Sims 4 cooking is unnecessarily emotional...
Sims 4 animations in a nutshell.
But to be honest, when I made my first own pizza from 0, i did something like a rain dance of happiness, so i guess its not from nothing (still boring after 99x time tho...) XD
i mean you can’t deny that the sims 4 has the most complex, fleshed out cooking system which is so much fun to play. where they lose me is with those animations. i don’t understand why everything about that game has to be so damn cartoony and over the top
I realise why I enjoy the Sims 2 - its the movement, quirks and surprising details like the baked Alaska, how the Sim would react to the food that made the game playable many times over.
I notice that Sims 4 feels like they make the animation for cooking silly to distract how low quality and lazy the food looks while making it compared to other games.
Sims4 with all the flashy but no substance. I hate it with my passion.
The animations are so annoying they try so hard to be quirky
Wdym no substance there's literally no many different cooking options, there's arguably the most substance of all the games
@fbi_weegee because instead of wasting time animating those flashy comical animations they could have put that effort into detail like how in the sims 2 they take the bowls out of the cabinets and they prepare the food realistically instead of it just appearing.
@@ag_supersonicjust because they pop tons of food choices in UI, doesn’t mean there’s substance. The previous installments had less ingredients but they had passion, love, substance, gameplay and most importantly… functionality 😂
@@ag_supersonicHave you seen the pizza? It looks like shit.
Through all the little details in 2 that were absent in 1, you can tell that Maxis were excited to express themselves and their new ideas for a next-gen game with the capability to bring so much more to life. There was passion there.
We really took the sims 2 for granted. All the love and care they put in it and it showed!!! 😢
For Sims 4, I had to use a mod so my sims wouldn't be so over the top and showboaty when cooking.

"Sims 4 has more options that affect nothing except the flavour text while having worse animations and graphics, as well as less actual gameplay" is a comment that's true for this video and virtually any other sims comparison video. With cows for some reason being the only exception
I always have a soft spot for Sims 3 cooking. It felt very realistic and I loved going to the grocery store and picking out ingredients and buying new recipes, or cooking a family member’s favorite for their birthday. It was the little things.
The Sims 4 is weird. I love the new cultural dishes and the variety but it still feels weirdly shallow. I think it’s the ways skills themselves work and the fact that I can’t set any kind of favorite or preference without sacrificing one of the only three traits you get. I feel like I can take different approaches to cooking in TS3 but weirdly don’t feel like I have as much flexibility in TS4 despite all of the new options.
Yeah I really want them to add food favorites as a favorite type. Having just one favorite was a bit weird in 3 (and you couldn't change it so a kid would have the same favorite their whole life) but it was still nice to have them recognize it and specifically get that bonus if you made it. Since there's so many foods maybe they can do do categories like they did with personality traits, like put everything that would have pork together so we can have halal or kosher sims. Also in 3 they were better at recognizing which foods were for what meal. Only the insane or childish sims would automatically eat cake for breakfast. Littlemisssam has a mod that improves it but it's annoying
Didn't they add a like/dislike System now? Where you can choose stuff like music they like colours sim traits....
@@keit99 Yes they did, so they just need to add it as a category. It's mostly pretty cool, they even have unique descriptions for the moodlets when someone likes or dislikes things. Right now we have color, decor, fashion, music, hobbies and skills, conversation topics and types of Sim (though we can't find those last two out for other sims yet)
I’m definitely biased but Sims 3 is my personal favorite! Also being able to shop for ingredients is a great feature (even better if you get the nraaas mod that requires ingredients to be able to cook).
Who else gets kind of nervous when the TS4 sim spins that knife around?😅
You can also shop for groceries in the sims 2, you can even go inside the grocery shop!
I liked the sims 2 but the sims 3 had me in a chokehold! I didn’t like the sims 4 at first but once they fixed and expanded the game more I liked it. If they created open world for the sims 4, owning multiple properties and the color wheel, it would be the best sims game in my opinion.
I love all of them. Because watching the sims cook the food is super satisfying regardless of the game.
That sims 4 sim doing the Maniacal laugh while cooking like if shes doing something mischievous with the food
She is evil, so she does that a lot unfortunately ❤️
The over exaggerated animations of the sims 4 will never not annoy me, my patience would not cope 😅 also the laziness of the whole oven animation 20:25 is outstandingly bad that it doesn’t match up where the rack just teleports back into the oven because they couldn’t be bothered to animate sims bending down. They cut lots of corners and it shows, which knowing sims 4 was intended to be a mobile game makes even more sense now that there’s no in-depth animations.
I’m sure the animators are good at what they do, but given the time constraints I imagine they had no choice but to cut said corners, yet with how much money this game has made EA, there’s no excuse for it really. I have major concerns for TS5 with all that in mind. Expect more corners to be cut. 😬
The Sims 2 has the best meal preparation in the series with only a few let downs as there’s no particles when pouring or chopping and the food in the mixing bowl doesn’t spin which both appear in the Sims 3.
The Sims 2 was chefs kiss . 🤌🏼
I don't know why The Sims 4 always scream and laugh? Like a crazy psycho :(

0:47 i remember as a kid i didn't understand that you really need minimum 1 skill in cooking to avoid near guaranteed fire, and so i never bought my sim a stove. it wasn't until the game gave me a random tip that i can avoid nothing but salads if i have a stove that i realized what i had put my guy through
That ding of food being done in TS2 still gives me anxiety because half the time it meant my Sim burned the food or it was going to be a fire 😅

the sims 1: good amount of detail especially for the time, real effort put in good prep, had the texture because of its time (2000)
the sims 2: most realistic meal preparation, detailed as hell, beautifully styled. a *20 year old* game
the sims 3: the most realistic looking textures at least to me, (the sims 3 art style and textures are a personal favourite.) less detail and realism of the food prep than sims 2. sims just pull a mixing bowl from their ass. it still looks good, at the sacrifice of some details. as of now this is an almost *15 year old* game. looks the best out of them all
the sims 4: unrealistic cooking prep, most foods look like they are being made the same way when using the cutting board and mixing bowl. it looks as though salt and pepper and tomatoes are cut up for every meal including desserts?? sims wave their hand for EVEN MORE things than ever before to just magically appear. the art style is revolting for a game of its time similar to claymation (claymation is fine, but not for this game) and both the sims 2 and 3 look much more realistic. the food textures are horrific, worst looking *so far* worse than a child's playdough sculpture. overall lacking real depth, the cooking feature, as well as the sims 4 as a whole, is the worst out of the 4. the other games look and feel like care was put into them. the sims 4 feels soulless.

Watching videos from Sims 1, because I cannot for the life of me get it to work on my computer, makes me think about how simple the gameplay was, but it could still have me play an entire day if I had the day to spend on it. And I did, because I was a kid when it came out, lol.
I still find myself going back to it from time to time!
In the Sims 2 sims 3 and sims 4 cooking animation is greatest cooking animation i ever seen same with the sims 1…to be fair all this games is greatest sims games of all time…also i gonna with sims 2 and 3 is winner
The sims 4 reminds me of my adhd brother
it's crazy for me how well made the sims 2 is, I never played it though, but it honestly looks like a living piece of art, the animations are so fluid, it blows my mind that the sim actually grabs utensils from the counter
Sims1,2,3:um...yummy
Sims4:Please do not play the food😂
This reminded me that the jump from sims 1 to 2 was astronomical. What a time.
I miss it when they used to carry pots, pans, baking tray to the oven. Makes it more realistic and serving guests after preparing a huge meal and eating together at the table is so wholesome. Most of the time in TS4, you call guests and they eat standing up 😢
sims 1 is cooking
sims 2 is cooking
sims 3 is cooking
sims 4 going to circus or what.
2:01 me asf waiting for my food to heat 😭
Man these sound effects made me feel all nostalgic
It's annoying how Sims 4 cooking is full of animation glitches that they never bother to fix, yet keep introducing new recipes...
