- Filipinos told me I had to go to BGC to see Venice Grand Canal Mall but I had no idea the day would end up like this.
Of course you know there's traditional Filipino food, we stopped in at Mang Inasal for pork sisig, inasal chicken and halo-halo.

Also, my wife's dad made a dish with taro leaves, coconut and fish called laing. We always loved that.
I’ve had that! It’s so good
We are big fans of Mang Inasal. Love the Halo Halo there. Looks like a good start to your trip to the Philippines 🇵🇭
The chicken there is so good
Sinigang is a tamarind base soup. There's a pork version a beef version or seafood version. If they gave you a seafood sinigang then you are sure that there's no pork in the cooking process
Oh thank you! I always double check because pork is so tasty that it often appears in things as a flavor boost and Alan sometimes eats it by mistake because he’s not used to pork being in food.
It's not the pollution that makes you sick its actually the impact of sudden change of temperature of your body from indoor to outdoor or vice versa. That's the reason why? It's about the adaptability of your body to ones place nor low immune system. You need fruits especially vit C
So I thought at first it might be that, or maybe air conditioners that weren't clean. But it seems that as soon as I leave the capital city of different countries I feel better.
We eat tons of fruits, in the Philippines I have two mangoes every morning!
@@ayngelina my bad. So you live all these years in a place with little pollution? Anyway countrysides are very good place and I'm actually living in that kind of place. ✌️😁
I'm not sure. I am from the East Coast of Canada on the ocean and there's little pollution.
But in the last 2 years I've only been in South East Asia and the more time I spend in cities the worse I feel. But I still like to visit the cities so I try to keep it at 4 days and then move somewhere with less pollution.
But we really like Manila so we wanted to stay a week - but I think that was a mistake.
I hope you have an amazing time in the Philippines 🇵🇭 feel better and get healthy asap.
Thank you! Getting medication that worked was a huge first step.
Nice seeing you coming back to our country ! Enjoy and Mabuhay po kayo !
Thank you! We know there’s so much to see one month wasn’t enough!
Welcome to PH. We appreciate your visit here.
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Hope you'll enjoy your stay in the Philippines. Welcome
Thank you, the medication helped and I'm ready to explore!
Welcome back....to our country
Thank you for the warm welcome 🤗
Sometimes is feels so good to take a mindless wander around an air conditioned mall, window shopping and eating - esp if you’re not feeling your best and just want to get out! That looks like a great place to do it, clean and pretty. Love that you mentioned all the athletic stores in the same area - is it all organized like that? I’ve always fussed about stores being so mixed up in malls that I end up getting worn out just walking all over the place to get to all the stores that carry what I’m looking for, like gym clothes or something. Lol Glad the meds started working and hope you felt better quickly! I dont get sick often, but when I do it’s freaking ALWAYS my sinuses. 😑 PS Meant to say how pretty your lipstick is, esp having dark hair! Im blonde and can’t get away with darker colors, though I make up for it with a lot of mascara… haha
So in Latin America you probably noticed that many neighbourhood are like this, all the same stores are next to each other. And some malls in Asia are the same. It makes it convenient if you need to buy something specific.
visit BGC , Libis, baguio, tagaytay, boracay, coron, camsur, bohol, etc
Do you know any good spots in Mindanao?
Maybe the weather its tropical country ❤ enjoy have fun 🇵🇭
Yes and we've been in 40C for the last 5 months so we're used to it now but always have to remember to drink more water 😎
@@ayngelina yes more water 💦 it's important take care always 🥰
Beautiful ayngelina try our popular fast food chain in the philippines jollibee
Mang inasal is a sister company of jolibee
Yes we need to go there but what do we order? Chicken? Burgers? Spaghetti? All of it?
Welcome back here in philippines enjoy manila tour. New subscriber❤️🇵🇭
Thank you! I hope you enjoy this month of videos 😊
Nice one ma'am... Be safe... From Istanbul....
Thank you so much. I would love to visit Istanbul some day.
I prefer eating the Ube Ice Cream first before mixing the Halo Halo. That way, I get to enjoy the ice cream separately and at the same time avoiding my halo halo to be Ube colored.
This is a pro tip everyone should know 🙌
Same here. The leche flan also. Sarap kaya than watered down.
In the Phlippines is "kaya" also coconut?
Yes, leche flan and ice cream are extra toppings and deserve to be enjoyed separately
@ayngelina sorry for speaking in the vernacular. Sarap kaya in the sentence can be loosely translated as 'more delicious' than watered down. Coconut is buko in the local language, even if the sweetened coconut in the halo-halo is called macapuno. Coconut in shredded form used as toppings to rice cake is called niyog.
For sinus you take a newsep, sinutab, or disudren that's what we got in the Philippines.❤
I'm not sure what she gave me but it did work so I am very happy with Watsons.
VINICE OF THE PHILIPPINES,, PASIG RIVER,,
?
the proper way to eat Halo-halo is indeed to mix all of it together, this is because many restaurants and stores add a lot of ice, and when you eat all of the ingredients without mixing, you're just left with clumps of flavorless ice, so trust me, you'll end up regretting not mixing it because you've wasted so much ice. People not mixing it is their personal preference, probably because they're already aware of what Halo-halo tastes like when mixed. If you're a first timer, for the sake of it, mix it on your first try, then if you prefer it not mixed, then don't mix it for the next time you try it. It's better to try dishes in the proper way the first time around, before proceeding to do it in your personal preferences just a way to respect the dish
I love how passionate people are about how to eat this.
the rich dont mix it.
Oh really? Is that the difference?
If you guys haven't yet, I highly recommend *green mango shake* that's it.
Ooh I’ve never heard of this!
Sinigang also good for your cold
This is good to know!
Hi Angelina, as you are in the Philippines and you happen to go by a place named Alabang, or Muntinlupa, or Filinvest City. Grab a shot.
Oddly one of the most consequential videos of my life was a pitch video for the developers of a new city in the Philippines. With the help of my video l, they won the bid!
The videi itself is on TH-cam as "1990 developer pitch - Now a City" (It looks really dated today).
Rhys! Is it close to Manila?
@@ayngelina supposedly. But close is relative. 🙂
This is so true!
Halo Halo, mixed well before you eat
I have learned some people say don't mix, try first. And others believe you mix right away!
If you have cold
Drink warm water with calamansi
No sugar
I'm not sure if I am getting a cold on planes or if I'm becoming sensitive to pollution in capital cities. But it was rough until I had that medicine.
The creamy sauce in sisig is just mayo
Is it mixed with sugar? It tastes sweet.
Sisig is normally pigface not pigorgan, we don't cook Sisig Pig entrails but we do any parts of Pig meats especially liempo on costumer's wish!😋
So is it just the pig cheek and ear? And then for organs it's chicken liver?
@@ayngelina yeah! Liver is optional, but you know, to make it more flavorful they put chicken liver or Liverspread on it! But of course it is about your preference!🤓
I like all of it!
Halo halo means mix mix and mix before you eat😅
Mmmm... "Halo-halo" is a name so strictly speaking, there is no "translation". It will still be called "halo-halo" anywhere in the world. But I guess calling "mix-mix" will help them appreciate the origins of the name.
It actually does because one of my other favorite Indonesian foods is Gado Gado which also translates to mix mix. In Indonesia when they have words that repeat it’s common to use write Gado2 do you also do that in the Philippines?
A few nice sights there but it's just too bad the people were so terrible.
Which people?
You didn’t go to BGC. Venice Grand Mall is in McKinley Hill. BGC is a lot nicer than the McKinley Hill.
I think it was a bit confusing with them both being in Taguig but that night we did walk around BGC.
Why is everyone want to go to manila pack and crowded
You always want to see the capital city before you move onto other areas
You ate Halo Halo in a wrong way. You should mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Halo Halo literally means mix mix.
So I have heard this is a HUGE controversy, that some people believe you have to mix it and others say not to do it at all. I see what team you're on 😉
@@ayngelina that's funny it should be mixed. Lol. That's common procedure in eating Halo Halo and If you don't it's no longer halo halo to be called
Where are you from in the Philippines, it seems that people from Cebu think it MUST be mixed but in Manila not everyone does.
In Indonesia they have the same controversy with their version of arroz caldo, which they call bubur ayam. Some people think it MUST be mixed and others do not. I like to start out eating it individually and then mixing it. Which is also what I do with halo halo.
Stop assuming you are Manila just because you see concrete.
"Manila" refers only to the capital city on the west coast of the NCR (formerly, "Metro Manila"). Everything beyond it is not Manila anymore.
BGC is not in Manila at all. It's in Taguig -- a city on its own about 2x the size of Manila.
If you can't rid your habit of calling everything "Manila", at least say "Metro Manila" so you can still be precise and not offend local political loyalties. But really, you should learn how to name your locations properly. It's not hard at all. We have Google.
You’re right especially as we chose to stay in Taguig and explored the neighbourhood. I’m still learning about Manila and will make mistakes but I appreciate your correction.
Hirap mo pasiyahin. Pumunta ka naman airport nasa boarding ticket mo ay MNL for Manila, not Paranaque. Mag-lecture pa talaga. Pwede naman sabihin nang maayos.
@@chitocucio4573 Strictly, MNL is IATA destination. Not a geographical reference. And IATA itself has its own convoluted history. Ano, dudong... never heard of IATA?
MNL could also be a metonym. But this is a travel vlog so that does not apply as well.
@@ayngelina You're welcome. You are one of very few who have the intellectual maturity and humility to say such. I admire you. Salute! ⭐
@@uchniezt1212 pumunta man ako Disneyland, kahit sabihin ko LA, wala naman cguro mag-correct na Anaheim - na akala mo alam lahat.
The food in the philipines is the worst in South east Asia assuming you not go fancy restarants or malls. The best are Malaysia and Indonesia which have crazy food on every corner
Every country has its own unique cuisine and I don't like to compare. But there are actually a lot of dishes in the Philippines that also exist in Philippines and Malaysia. Keep watching the series and you'll see Alan points out food that he knows as a dish from home.
I don't think so , foods in the Philippines is so good. PHILIPPINES is my favorite country in South East Asia.😊 there is no language Barrier because most Filipinos are fluent ni English .
I often think people who dislike Filipino food have only had a few dishes. The sour soups, native chicken, inasal, achara, kambing, Laing, squash soups all the seafood and so much more is delicious
Does Malaysia, or Indonesia have lechon, sisig, liempo, bagnet, or any good PORK dishes?
In Jakarta and Bali there are some pretty good pork dishes but nothing like Philippines. Everyone knows Filipinos make great pork but you know I think chicken there is really a star as well and I love the caldereta kambing.
