Yeah, the "RX 7800 XT" - which really should have been called RX 7700 (non-"XT") - blows it out of the water. 256-bit + PCIe 16x, instead of the shitty 128-bit + PCIe 8x that Nvidia offers for the same money. PATHETIC.
It gives you RTX 3080 level performance - which is better than the 4070 (which itself is a 4060 in disguise).
Thing is, it's only 5% better than the RX 6800 XT. Which you can find for cheaper.
Both Nvidia and AMD have shifted their tiers this generation.

I have bought many cards from this generation 4060,4070,4090,7900 xtx. You can play 4k 60 fps with a 4060 8GB in most games with upscaling and setting adjustments. Dont be tricked into spending out of your budget by youtube videos to play at higher resolutions. If you want very high frame rates at any resoluiton thats a different story that will cost you money. I would rather watch you do a break down live of what lower end cards can really do in the real world scenarios. 4090 is only 3 times faster then 4060ti 16gb but 5 times more expensive, if you dont need 24gb, you can build small render farm on 4060ti to match performance of 4090 and it will be cheaper or spend saved money on cloud render farms.

You're getting _significantly_ less GPU for the money with Nvidia. 😐 The last great GPU that Nvidia made was the GTX 1080 Ti: 11GB VRAM when the norm was 8GB, 352-bit, GP102 (lower is better) not AD103 or 104, a buttload of CUDA cores (at that time), and for $699.
And AMD did the same thing as Nvidia. The "RX 7900 XT" should have been called the RX 7800 (non-"XT"), the "RX 7800 XT" should have been called the RX 7700 (non-"XT") and so on. It's truly a bad time to buy a GPU...... The AI bubble can't burst soon enough. And I'm not counting on Intel GPUs to save us. Intel are scumbags.

@@Dark-Glaive The Steam survey reflects what people have, not what they want or what they should have. Let's keep that distinction at the fore. Many gamers buy Nvidia not because they do their research and conclude that Nvidia is better; rather, they buy Nvidia because their gaming buddies have Nvidia and hate on AMD. In other words, they buy Nvidia to avoid being made fun of. In truth, AMD GPUs outperform Nvidia GPUs in gaming rasterization at every price point at which they compete, sometimes by a lot. They also have as much or often a lot more VRAM, which is good for high-settings gaming. So the claim they aren't good for gaming is objectively incorrect.

Nvidia can handle VRAM overflow if Cranking up Settings causes the VRAM to pass the allotted pool. The only thing Nvidia GPUs are lacking in is the VRAM. But if you're buying an RTX 4060, you shouldn't be expecting anything crazier than an RTX 2070 Super with a few new technological improvements. Ray-Tracing on a 4060 is leaps and bounds better than Ray-Tracing on a 2070 Super. 4060 also features new Architecture with DLSS 3.0/3.1 to allow for Frame Generation. The 2070 Super does not. If you're fine with Xbox Series X level Graphics but with a little extra, then an RTX 4060 is exactly that. Also we're talking about Budget Cards here. When the 2070 Super came out, it was retailing for around $600 and now the 4060 can do everything a 2070 Super can and then some for only $300.

All NVIDIA had to do was duplicate the success of the RTX 3060 by releasing the RTX 4060 with 12GB.
But no, they were afraid that would cut into their RTX 4070 sales.
Instead they gave us 3 cards priced so terribly we're forced to the RTX 4070 to get value.

The tragedy is that a xx60 series card used to be enough in 90% of the games I play(ed), including flight-sims. Anyone remember the GTX 260 or 460? Especially the 260 offered incredible performance in its day - but you didn't have to have a talk with your bank-manager if you were eyeing one. I bought a 260 in 2008 or so for ~€250, which is about €360 in today's money. But the card's performance, in its day, was more on the level of what today's 4070 delivers.
And so these days, I consider the 4070 as the entry-level card for "serious" gamers - for which we have to pay through the nose. €500 to €600 used to be "people who spend that much on a GPU are nuts!"-territory for me. Today, it's the price of entry, I suppose. Seems that other than the 4090, everything else got downgraded a tier in performance or upgraded a tier in name - whichever description one prefers. And speaking of names: It seems that Nvidia of 2024 see tiers more like labels that signify how much they will charge you for the card - not as an indication as to what kind of performance the card will deliver. 4060 is a joke, IMO, as is the fact that they'll up-sell you on the 4060 Ti if you want the full fat 16 GB version.
I'd usually suggest waiting for 50xx to roll around, but I don't have high hopes that Nvidia will change their ways with the new gen.

The Last Descendant was going down to 40fps at 1440p on my 4060, so I decided to head to Microcenter, and my two $400 options were a 4060Ti 8gb, or a 6800XT.
...I mean, I say options, but... ANYWAYS, DLSS Quality, we're capped at 120 now high/max. Thanks AMD

Here in Chile the cheapest 4060 and 4060 Ti have a diference of 31,81%. And the 7800 XT is just 7,58% cheaper than de 4070 and 15% more expensive than the 4060 TI 16GB. The 4070 is 53% more expensive than the 4060 ti 8gb. For me 4060 Ti 8GB is the way to go.

I don't get it how some games can have really good textures with low VRAM usage, but some look like crap.
Take for example Call of Duty or Cyberpunk, they look fine with 8GB, but some other games make you uninstall.

The real value of the 4060ti 16gb is for users who use AI. Its the cheapest gpu that has that much vram and cuda. I also helps that it sips power compared to higher vram nvidia cards.

The 16GB variant should never exist; instead, the Ti should have 12GB, which would have justified the 25% higher price compared to the normal 4060 8GB. I personally bought the normal 4060 because I'm only interested in 1080p High settings. If I want to play 4K Ultra with high fps in the future, then I would go for the upcoming RTX 5080 and never worry about performance ever again. 1440 sucks for me because i also play alot of older games which looks just wrong on 1440p. 1080p on the other hand can easily be upscaled to 4k.

@@sensei_... It's not a scam at all. First of all u can get nvidia for cheaper prices online and secondly not everyone lives in the usa or Europe where prices are super high.
Here in India in good offline markets u can get really good deals . Like a 4060 cheaper than 7600xt , 4070 super only 50-60usd more than 7900 gre , rtx 4080 super cheaper than 7900 xtx . Like my cousin's friend got a 4080 super 140 usd cheaper than 7900xtx lmao . And in the era of upscaling there is no way I am picking fsr over dlss like that's common sense , u get tons of features in nvidia and u are forgetting about power draw . It saves a good amount of money per month due to less power draw .
