I really loved this video, but one tip:
The igneous extrudiertes can also make obsidian. So you could’ve gotten both a obsidian roof against parasites, and a lot easier access to obsidian.
I was using it to make obsidian when I was making the laser turrets while I was mining it my hand. I didnt know that parasites couldn't break obsidian but thanks to you now I do.

@@beauman1447doesnt obsidian have a hardness of 50? I dont remember any parasite being able to break a block that hard. The closest they come is with a stage 4 beackon which can break blocks with 18 hardness or lower but idk

Dude I love the mix of narration and live audio reactions. It might just be because it’s “new” on the channel and therefore refreshing but I like being able to see how you actually felt in the tense moments versus narrating after the fact
Agreed, it woudn't hurt to keep in time audio to add to the experience, i mean, plenty of the popular minecraft youtubers do it and it goes great for them, beside it works great for contrast and getting personal with the always quippy calm and in control captain, specially in this hard 100 days

@@NathanaelB it shouldn’t take all too much from my experience. A decent laptop would run you about $200-$400 and should still be able to run the modpack. Now things like vault hunters from iskall85 is like 120 mods, so it definitely wouldn’t be able to run that. Mine can’t, but it should be enough to run this smoothly

Yea but there's some good stuff comming in the new versions and alot of stuff already out like you can fully do the industrial modpack in 1.18, 1.19 and 1.20 to or even change it up with mods like create tfmg and alot more nods are being brought up to date

Hey, Captain. So while Tough as Nails has been discontinued, there is another mod that is an attempt to revive it called Simple Difficulty. If you want to use Tough as Nails in pack like this again, you may want to check it out
Unfortunately it does not seem to be compatible with Tough Expansion

Tip when fighting parasites: After you kill a higher level parasite, break the cyst it places down, as it both contains the blocks that it broke and prevents the parasites from getting more evolution points from digesting said blocks.
Yep. When they die they leave behind a cyst that will increase the amount of parasites tenfold. So destroy it and you'll avoid the parasites multiplying in numbers and strength.

I think it would be really cool if you make an entire series, not even 100 days, just like a 5 video series, about building the perfect bunker with the best reactor and turbine using all the best mods like Pam’s harvest craft and nuclear craft overhaul.
I'm working on a series rn but I need to figure out where I'm going with it
Just a heads-up, parasites can break ALL blocks beneath obsidian hardness level, so andesite, stone, granite and all other blocks that take slower to mine than obsidian WILL get destroyed by parasites. So putting extra layers of stone doesn't do much outside slowing down the invading parasites.

If you do a 200 days on this world, you'll definitely need to make a new base (or a vault whatever works), since the parasites and lava will eventually take over your current base.
You should definitely try doing a 100 days with just the tech mods so you can fully experience the nuclear craft overhaul
I agree. I always try to add in new challenges but 20 days in they just end up being distractions.

@jonathancole5179 I support this. Another TH-camr I watch made a 200 days Rimworld vampire challenge, his explanation is that with just 100 days, your game ends just as you're starting to get to the good stuff.
Not that ill ever play this, but major respect for adding a full mod list.
Love your nuclearcraft series. Btw I also had a modpack made to play with my friend to play. It had advanced rocketry as well. Maybe add some space mod for the next one? It's fun to rush space to get away from parasites.

Probably someone in the comments has already said this but if you do end up playing with the parasite mod again, make sure you build your bunker out of obsidian since they can't break obsidian..... Well until the creator of the mod changes that.

Ahh good to see some Nuclearcraft again, I've been so stressed out lately, this is just the refresher I needed! Although I will admit that I've tried out both the base Nuclearcraft and the Overhauled versions and couldn't figure out how to get them to work even following tutorials from the developer, lol. Personally, I don't really like the parasites mod because it makes the experience exponentially more difficult, I just like the realistic industrial stuff, haha!
I myself wanted to try all of those, but my pc is too low tech lol

Parasites are incredibly hard to survive against. One thing of note, they cant break anything over 18 hardness. Obsidian level blast resistance will stop all digging attempts. Good job on the 100 days.
Is hardness different from blast resistance? Because I'm sure that cobblestone (and presumably stone bricks) have a blast resistance of 30 and yet I've seen them being broken by parasites in another video

For starter just use stone brick,
And for end game u need to use obsidian

Ooo I have idea for the next video, direct sequal. Instead of doing it in the overworld like usual, retreat into the nether and live in there primarily and only going to the overworld when you need to
Not bad but for mining I would still be spending a lot of time in the Over
Scape and run is really good at making you feel a very specific set of emotions in a linear order.
Such as:
"Oh god i'm gonna die, I can't deal with this"
"Okay i think i can manage"
"Okay, yeah, this is fine, i can deal with this."
"THAT WAS ONLY PHASE 1?!"
"okay this doesn't change that much, it's only one phase increase."

I've loved watching these videos for the longest time, and for that time period, I never understood why the captain was so scared of the smaller parasites. however, with some of them hitting you for more than an entire vanilla health bar in one swing, one thing is clear. the scape and run was definitely not made with balance in mind.
It was made for one thing and one thing only to escape and run
Ye, definitely gotta commit to over or under so once the parasites start breaking you're door down you've got some hard or unbreakable blocks surrounding you, sense even obsidian the parasites can eventually get through so stone is basically butter. Still doing good for being solo tho good stuff
still hoping that someday there will be a mod that allows you to properly reclaim a nuclear wasteland. you could go back to your most popular nuclearcraft world and work on purifying it, also allowing you to use harvestcraft to its fullest once again

The parasites seem like an absolute pain, but, I think the easiest solution to parasites is to go airborn and make a skybase, then use some system of parkour to limit their access to your base. For ore mining and stuff you could quarry the ground and lava the region around it, or one step further, fire prot four armor and mine exclusively in lava lakes and jump in when something you can't handle comes at you
I take back what I said, the best possible solution is to drill out a massive portion of land all the way to bedrock so nothing can spawn. then light up everything that you placed
Man they can fly
Also they can see you from around 64-128 blocks away
Which makes your idea useless

you should start using echantements even the basic enchantments without bookshelfs help a lot
i vote the next video be a "100 days in space" video. The galacticraft mod works really well along side the nuclearcraft mod. trust me, you'll love it!

I’m not sure wether you have played with either of these mods but Vic’s modern weapons and tech guns have some really good weapons and will work on parasites like a hot knife through butter, btw great video!

I've suggested this before (and you full-well could have looked into it originally), but I'd like to suggest it again. There is an old 1.7.10 modpack exclusively for Technic Launcher (I'm surprised it's still around, too) called Blightfall, where you live in a world infected by thaumcraft taint and have to clean it up. It's been getting some community patches relatively recently, fixing bugs, and I think you'd like it because one of its core mechanics is diminishing returns from food, with Pam's as its main source of food sources, requiring you to request crops and get clever cooking as much food variety as you can, which with how much you love Pam's seems right up your alley. Plus, it's 1.7.10, and I, at least, find it kinda nostalgic to go back to some of those old mods and play them. No Nuclear Craft, sadly, but I feel the custom map and even LORE makes up for that.

Hey next time make like a hot air balloon type of building so when you use the nuclear and parasite mod you can be up in the sky and build and be safe.... just a little tip.... or something for a video... definitely not hinting anything about a video idea at all....... just keep on making your videos love them all..... don't stop!

@@TheCaptainsTV well you can use an water elevator to get up and down quickly so that they can't get at you also the reason why I said you should make like a structure in the sky is that creatures on the ground won't spawn if your high enough... just make sure you have enough resources like food and building blocks the you won't have a problem!

Honestly at the start of this video I was gonna do a "frozen ocean" idea but its just grew into something else. I still like that idea though

Hey, I don't know if it would be a good idea, but you could do video about escaping that kind of wasteland to the nether. Like nether is strait up hell, but it always is more chill than overworld in your videos😂.
