I didn't think I would miss those original block textures. I like minecraft as it is now, but I get nostalgic when I see that stone, wood and "nacho lava".
It feels so crazy to now feel like 1.6 and 1.8 are so “close together” in time because at the time, I remember 1.8 feeling like “futuristic” Minecraft and I felt such boomer-hatred for anything new 😂 I don’t know why I thought 1.8 “ruined the game” and here I am loving everything in 1.20 lol
Experiencing both “that was that long ago??” and “that was that recent??” at the same time, and I’m not quite sure I enjoy this feeling. What I do know I’m enjoying is this video! Great job as usual
As someone who started playing the game at 1.2.5, quit the game around 1.8 or 1.9 and just returned, this video was both nostalgic and educational at the same time. Great video 👍
52:56 fun fact the drowned were actually bugged for the longest time! They didn’t have that different animation for like several updates. They actually fixed it in 1.20 so that they look like that again!
the first wooden slabs were stone slabs with a different texture so it was mined with a pickaxe and did not burn, in later versions if the player still had it are called petrified slabs
"that's not craftable yet, I'm taking it." Holy shit I remember the absolute horror that was trying to find enough mossy cobble to build with. was a HUGE flex back in the day.
Minecraft really has changed a lot. Somethings got better, while other things got removed. Regardless of how you interprit it, we were always along for the ride. That's why this game is so special to us. Because it grows, it changes, and it evolves. And we have the power to modify it and make it go even further then that.
Day 44 is when the "Alpha slab" or "Petrified oak slabs" (They're known by both names) chest was opened after the slabs were put into it and had the missing textures
1:11:25 When you forget to give your mountain base its morning coffee. 😂 It’s still a very cozy base, though. I liked the semi transparent elytra. That makes it seem magical. I’m a bit bummed that it was changed later.
I am a little confused about you saying that cats got added on later because ocelots actually used to be tamable like wolves. You could turn them into cats the exact same way you tame cats in villages now, with raw fish and sneaking. I remember when that update came out where cats spawn in villages instead of having to tame ocelots. It was literally my only goal back in the day to find a jungle and tame an ocelot and I did it every playthrough.
This is hilarious! I was doing the exact same challenge on my own, and now that you've done the same thing I can take some inspiration for my world. Thanks Gundo!
The part at 23 mins in really does show how alive Minecraft feels now. I love this idea, I was watching a bunch of older version Minecraft videos and thought to myself “what if you played and the version changed every 10 days?” And then come across this the next day. It was perfect timing lol
Are those your friends helping demonstrate the new mechanics each update? (As well as occasionally murdering the heck out of each other, looking at you 1.3.) If they are, that's really cute. They look like they're having fun!
I joined minecraft in 1.20 (literally started playing 4 days ago) and this video was a journey for me, almost as if I had experienced it all as you did. I didn't even realise it was an hour and a half long as I was so immersed. Amazing video!
The god apples are strong with this one. And the throwback part to your first one hundred days Minecraft survival when corona-chan was still relevant just warms my heart.
Old Minecraft doesn't require a different brain, it requires a brain in general. New Minecraft is so dumbed down and easy that I can't help but long for the days when you couldn't just get 1 piece of iron and some wood to invalidate any and all damage that comes from your front, or constantly hold one item in your off hand and never have to worry about dying ever again, or spawn next to a village and basically be set for the rest of the game.
if u want the true 100 days u could include some of the alphas and betas because considering minecraft only has 20 versions (excluding the ones like 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.5, etc) It would only make it roughly 20/100 days which is no fun lol but regardless doing it every 5th day makes it much longer and responsible lol
Minecraft has really come a long way. Watching this video really brings me back. Especially on the early versions of Minecraft, night time was like going into a cave with no torches over the place.
this took me back lmao, i started right before the combat update and honestly the memories this brought back of all the old textures, all the old youtubers i used to watch, all the old glitchy bugs, it nearly brought a tear to my eye, just typing this out i also remembered all the bittersweet moments. a friend who introduced me to the game who i learned was honestly a toxic person, a base i had on a server that has long been forgotten, i still have the layout of that i drew back when i was 12 hanging on my memory board. and more recently friends who i had lost to the pandemic as well as the base i had on that server before it reset more than half a year ago. all the childish pranks i pulled because why not its fun. all these memories and honestly i wouldnt trade them for the world. for alot of your younger viewers this might be just another minecraft video, but for me this was my childhood flashing before my eyes. thank you for that and you sir, however small a gesture this may be, have gained another subscriber
man i enjoyed this video so much, ive been playing sence beta and it was such a fun adventure to watch you go through every update, countless times i went to hit the like button only to realize i already had, an incredible watch!
Legundo is the reason I watch Minecraft content on youtube. His first 100 days video was the thing that got me hooked on watching other people play, so thank-you for the hundreds of hours of entertainment you began for me Legundo!
It’s so nice to see another hardcore through versions video. Because this was the first video I’ve seen in your channel! This is how I started to watch your videos. Amazing content :)
Hi Legundo. I just now discovered your channel and I'm enjoying your content a lot. But more importantly, this video inspired me to try this kind of "100 Days Challenge" and it's great (I'm currently on 1.5, by the way). I can see the world evolving around me, which feels amazing. Especially for someone like me, who doesn't typically change versions too much. Normally I play with shaders, mods and texture packs, but you indirectly reminded me of how old school, basic Minecraft feels like. Thank you. TLDR: Content good, tried out by myself, having fun, you got a sub
This is a 1 hour sitting enjoyment, admiring the early versions of minecraft and to what the current version has to offer. It was truly a nostalgic experience and reminiscing the days that minecraft was simple yet fun to play. Earned a sub and like!
That video made me realize how long i have been playing this game for... All of these Updates feelt like they happened yesterday. I started playing in Beta 1.7.
Hi Legundo! I love that you’re making callbacks to your original 100 days video. That video is what got me to subscribe to you! Thank you for making these videos. :)
Watching this made me realise how old I am. I still remember when Minecraft didn't have hunger or sprinting. Seeing the old textures for Cobblestone, food, netherrack, gravel, and more brought a few old memories back.
It's weird hearing you define "modern minecraft" as 1.16+, cause personally the point when Minecraft started to feel distinctly different from the way it did when I first got it was 1.13. It's also weird seeing 1.13 mechanics without the 1.14 textures.
It's also 1.16 for me. Although 1.13 added better oceans, visually it still looked pretty much the same all around. After 1.16 tho, we've gotten massive overhauls of pretty much everything that used to be classic minecraft. The nether looks completely different, caves have biomes now, height and depth limits were increased, there's a deep dark biome, a cherry blossom biome. Things started looking completely different after 1.16, in a good way tho. 1.16 also marks C418's carreer with minecraft ending and all this new music was added into the game that brough a totally different atmosphere from C418's music. The default texture pack was also changed in 1.16 I believe. Lots of classic things were changed after that update. All that's missing now is an end overhaul, and an overhaul of classic minecraft biomes and then we basically have minecraft 2.0. The visual overhaul stuff started with 1.13 tho, so I guess you are technically right.
I remember that when 1.16 snapshots were released i just couldn't stop playing them. I built like mini nether biomes nether villages and so so much things like that. It felt so nostalgic even if didnt played old versions of minecraft.
I think one of the funniest unspoken things too is seeing the visible degradation in performance of the game as well. Really shows how necessary mods are in modern Minecraft as well
I actually really like that 53:13 can happen. Where you can find a treasure map but no treasure. It's like someone else in the world beat you to it. It adds a little more life to the world I think.
Legundo, buddy, you cannot just name-drop "Survive and Thrive" in the first few minutes like that! Paulsoares's S&T series was what first got me going into the game way back when I first got into the community! My nostalgia was maxed out by this video start to finish, thanks so much!
1.1 was the first version I got my hands on after watching it on TH-cam for a while. I remember playing it for the first time like it was just yesterday! I recently picked it up again and it really is an entirely different game, but I still love it just as much as I did when I was a little 13 years old. I love seeing this game remain so popular :) it feels like I've come back home
I'm actually genuinely learning so much about modern Minecraft through this. I recently got back into it after leaving it at about 1.14-1.15. Thing is, I usually play modded on my pc, and only have bedrock on my phone. I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when my vanilla 1.20 crops got trampled, and now I'm learning that you can use a hoe to break leaves? Insane
Its crazy to watch this video and see all the differences between alpha 1.0 and release 1.0. This is so nostalgic. I remember release day and how much bigger the game felt than it did in alpha or beta.
Also @legundo deifinition if smelt;extract (metal) from its ore by a process involving heating and melting. Therefore you cook the steak. It doesnt matter what you put the steak in or on, its cooking b3cause its a steak. Its not smelting because its a smelter. Its also called a furnace which is used to heat thinfs, not smelt things. You just happen to be able to smelt with a furnace as well as cook with a furnace as well as heat a room with a furnace. XD you can say it as angrily and confidently as you want but you have never, will never, and can never, smelt a steak.
Wow! I didn’t really notice how far Minecraft has come! I’ve been playing since 1.3 but I was so young at the time, I didn’t even really understand updates and whatnot. I honestly forgot about the old lava and netherack textures. lol I remember me and my buddies trying to summon herobrine and we were so mad when we could no longer craft god apples or enchanted golden apples. I remember them just being straight up deleted from the game and I was so sad. The other thing I remember was when shields first came out, I made a custom world that had so much ores, you had a harder time finding stone than diamond, as diamonds were just lying on the ground in patches of hundreds of ore lol.
29:48 I love how looking at this, I don’t think about how I remember when minecraft was like that, but instead think about white coat being what Dr Trayourus looked like🥲😂
This really makes you realize ho much we take these new updates for granted. Some people say that old Minecraft was better and the updates are ruining the game but, we don't miss the old Minecraft, we miss the memories we while playing it. Us being innocent and going back to a time when we didn't have a care in the world. But now, we can create new memories in this wonderful game full of new content because of the amazing developers trying to make sure we can make these new memories.
Now this is how Minecraft Devs intended us to do, it's not just about speedrunning, boss rush, redstone or even beating the game It's all about taking your sweet time and do most of the things the game has to offer, this man didn't do all but did what most Minecraft players wont do
i started playing minecraft a couple months after launch on pc and LOVED IT! unfortunately about a year into my playtime i had to sell my pc to help pay for my granny’s medication (she’s okay now). i was about 10 and devastated so my mum said she would buy it on my ipad for me. i was still sad because all my worlds were gone but i could play my favourite game again so i was thankful. i remember the stained glass update coming out and i was so excited to try the new glass out… but boy did i have to wait. it came out on pe AGES after it came out on java. i remember getting so excited watching dantdm and ldshadowlady playing with the new glass and when it came out little me was squealing during school waiting to get home and play it on my ipad. i now have minecraft on ps, xbox and pc again and till play it often. memories 🥹
I've come back to Minecraft twice since 2014, with my last version before quitting being I want to say 1.8 (it was pre-Bedrock Edition)- Once in like 1.13 or whenever ocean monuments were added (I think it was 1.13) and now in 1.20 (along with an install of 1.19 to play a modpack). I have used a shield exactly once- The first time I went back, I spawned into the world my friend made, she told me to try making a shield, I used it to block an arrow or something, said "oh, that's neat," and never once used a shield ever again. It's not that I have a distaste for them or anything- It's MINECRAFT, not some intense advanced in-depth combat game where a shield removes a lot of complexity or something- I just constantly forget they exist and never care to spare the iron. I also started in 1.2, but like a week before 1.3 came out. I didn't even realise 1.3 added emeralds or pyramids. In fact, I was never really clear on what it had added, since it was too early to care. But man, did I care about the redstone update. The redstone components added in 1.5 were what gave Minecraft its longevity for me before I started messing with mods. Also looking at the version history, I actually stopped in 1.7, though I'm pretty sure 1.13 was in fact when I went back in because that was the aquatic update and I remember LOADS of changes to the oceans, not just monuments.
Found you through the aether mod vid. Hour long vids? Relaxing voice? Adding you to my library of youtubers to sleep to. 10/10 quality Mr. Legs. Will be watching again. Probably tonight 🤣🤣
PLeeeeaaaassseee continue this world after new updates like 1.21 and 1.22, but maybe you can stay on them for longer periods and you can recap the things that you missed? (Cherry groves, overworked bones, collecting every record etc.) New fan here! :)
18:00 the reason you cant put chests next to eachother is because in that update he didint want to make the triple chest happening, just a little tip :>
Why is it you can always make me feel so sentimental about this game! LOL! I have to say, so many, SO MANY of your videos I've enjoyed watching. But this one was extra special, we got to watch the progression of the game. Flashbacks from back when I started playing, and each expansion & all the way up to now. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this one! 😍🥰❤
I remember 1.11 and 1.12 well. I started earlier on Xbox 360 where the version was very old, roughly around 1.9, but had versions from before. I loved this video.
23:30 I have an old survival world created one update before this one. The ocean around my island base is completely barren of anything apart from an ocean monument about 200 blocks away from it on either side. You have to travel about 1000 blocks in the ocean before you see anything representing the Aquatic Update.
This brings me a lot of good memories and makes me realize how old I am. and this video brings a lot of nostalgia to my life.its amazing how minecraft evolved over time.
Started playing Minecraft back in 2009, so Classic? I remember when there was no redstone, no lapis lazuli, no dogs, no endermen, no nether... Started playing again recently, and SO MUCH has changed! Still love it

R.I.P. roses 🌹
I adore that you also played like someone would back in the days of each update. Wasnt ready for a nostalgia hit but i enjoyed it ❤

No actually it’s a L
bro has something against the lgbtqia+ community for existing💀💀 get a life
You’re right and I don’t even know what lgbtq stuff means
@@li_jay2446 imagine being so miserable that you bully something that you don't even know the meaning of LMAOOOO
I think one of the funniest unspoken things too is seeing the visible degradation in performance of the game as well. Really shows how necessary mods are in modern Minecraft as well
I wasn't feeling great, so I pulled this video back up to try and shake the mood off.
1:11:20 absolutely succeeded.
46:30 PLEASE, please be a prophet, Legs! 🙏
I love how much of Legundo's sheer joy you can feel watching his Minecraft videos. He just truly loves the game
Insane
As a pre 1.0 oldie, this video owns. What a fun trip.

Legundo: *collecting iron innocently*
Me: *trying to figure out if he said edition or addition*
1:05:55 nothing to be scared of because totems give fire resistance
Find it crazy how much the game has/hasnt changed, started playing in 1.2 and still remember my first survival house.
20:48 that laugh after killing the ghast was so satisfying! Instant sub just for that 🤣 thank you for making my day!
Now this is how Minecraft Devs intended us to do,
it's not just about speedrunning, boss rush, redstone or even beating the game
It's all about taking your sweet time and do most of the things the game has to offer, this man didn't do all but did what most Minecraft players wont do
This channel has a lot of creative 100 days episodes.
From the emeralds, to one chunk/block, to this.
Love it.
Heads up, that villager that you called Perstorious is actually Trayaurus, just a friendly reminder since trayaurus is from the past 😊
i started playing minecraft a couple months after launch on pc and LOVED IT! unfortunately about a year into my playtime i had to sell my pc to help pay for my granny’s medication (she’s okay now). i was about 10 and devastated so my mum said she would buy it on my ipad for me. i was still sad because all my worlds were gone but i could play my favourite game again so i was thankful. i remember the stained glass update coming out and i was so excited to try the new glass out… but boy did i have to wait. it came out on pe AGES after it came out on java. i remember getting so excited watching dantdm and ldshadowlady playing with the new glass and when it came out little me was squealing during school waiting to get home and play it on my ipad. i now have minecraft on ps, xbox and pc again and till play it often.
And yes, I know it's one (1) iron.
If I told a kid how Minecraft was back in the day they would think we were lying. Good to see old Minecraft, so many memories.
Watching these block textures, methods, caves, the simplicity, everything.. just makes me very nostalgic
Found you through the aether mod vid.
Hour long vids? Relaxing voice? Adding you to my library of youtubers to sleep to. 10/10 quality Mr. Legs. Will be watching again. Probably tonight 🤣🤣
1.6.4-1.7.10 was my childhood, and that’s when pvp and factions was at its best.
The fact that this started on the version of minecraft with xp and hunger makes me feel some type of way
PLeeeeaaaassseee continue this world after new updates like 1.21 and 1.22, but maybe you can stay on them for longer periods and you can recap the things that you missed? (Cherry groves, overworked bones, collecting every record etc.)
New fan here!
Is it just me or was minecraft both significantly harder and significantly more fun back im the day
In ten years when minecraft updates a lot more, you should come back to this world and make a part 2
Still love it
Older Minecraft makes me feel old, that’s new Minecraft to me, hunger bar is new Minecraft lol
This got my nostalgia going, seeing the old textures brought back some lovely memories of me trying MC for the first time
Finally, a 100 days video concept that I've been wanting to see.
So thankful for this!! Absolutely inspired by your videos and working to make my own someday soon. 💯💚
