They’re determined to invalidate her relationship and livelihood because they relate their own lives to social media influencers and think it invalidates theirs as a result. These grown adults still don’t know how to compartmentalize and understand that someone else’s lifestyle can work for them as their own lifestyle works for them too and that’s okay. The sooner women began to realize that we’re not a monolith the less we’ll see each-other ganging up on those we feel have different views and lifestyles. Sigh.

I think she said she did not want pain meds for the other births, but the epidural baby was 10 lbs. I had both my kids without meds, it’s not the enormous deal people make it out to be. Actually better for the baby & mother. I was up and ready to go

Our biases affect the interpretation of what was actually said/not said. It was never stated he controls those decisions! I’ve had four naturally and if your husband can’t be there then emotionally you are not in a strong place to do it naturally! She explained why SHE made that choice - because he couldn’t be there, and the baby was huge. That has nothing to do with his control. The author implied at things left and right that people are interpreting through their biases against her and her beliefs 😢

    • @mufasa2005
      @mufasa2005 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

That part bothered me. It’s her body, so it’s her decision. He’s not pushing a baby out. He should’ve had that machine that imitates the pain of having a baby while she actually had a real baby so he could feel her pain alongside her. I’m pretty sure he will change his mind on painkillers really fast.

My wife has a dance degree, and is the director of dance at an arts center. When she has dancers that want to continue their dance career professionally, she always tells her dancers “dancing is temporary. Your body will eventually break down, so make sure you have a backup plan. There are very few professional dancers over the age of 35. Dance as long as you can, but think about what you want to do after that.” And it’s great advice. I don’t know this woman, but it sounds like she had the ability to transition into a new role as she saw fit. And isn’t that what peak feminism is? Having as many opportunities as men? So she got to be a dancer, and now a mom, wife, business owner, entrepreneur, influencer. Sounds like peak (true) feminism to me.

I’m a therapist and watched a few videos on this articles impact. My take, there appears to be a lot of projection by others onto this couple (something I see a lot on the internet). There’s so much unhappiness, discontentment, and a sense of helplessness within people and they want others to feel the same (misery loves company). People are displacing their own feelings onto others, so they can avoid confronting their own insecurities, etc. If reading an article like this makes you react by judging or tearing down the subjects of the piece, perhaps it’s really something inside you that needs torn down and built a new. It is absolute laziness on their parts. In order to have what this couple has, it takes hard work and sacrifice. All these unhappy ppl want is to not have to put in the work and get what she has. So they have to nitpick everything about her, to make themselves feel better about not having what she has.

I live in Utah, and people here have various lifestyles, just like everywhere else. But of course, we get labeled Mormon country. I'm not a member of the LDS, and actually, the population here is now more non-LDS than LDS for the first time. Regardless, Utah is their promised land, and I suspect they'll always be here, doing their thing and minding their own business. Here's my anecdotal evidence, yet LDSers are some of the nicest people I've ever met. A family of 7 opened up their farm for my son's entire pre-K class to come visit and learn about the animals! They provided parking, food and drinks, everything! It was very gracious and kind of them!! Ballerina Farm happens to be wildly successful because it's a family operation. I hope many families like this continue to thrive, and Utah is the place to do it.

She literally turned her husband down for dates, so he made his father (CEO of Jetblue) get them a flight/seat together. She didn't want to get married immediately but he wanted to. In her home, she's often worked until she's bedridden, and had to give birth without painkillers because it's what her husband wanted (proof, she used an epidural when he was out of town), and he refuses to start family planning and stop imprgnating her because "it's what God wants". Again I agree with sacrificing but as soon as he saw her it seemed like he planned there whole life and knew he had to have her even if she said no to a date with him and she didn’t like the timeline of how fast there relationship was going. And I don’t see what him being the head of the household has to do with anything. This is her thing, not his. He can still be the head of their family and relationship while having her company in her name. It’d be like some wife opening a little hair salon yet the company is in her husband’s name. It just doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it’s that deep as a "division". And I don’t think your analogy for listing someone’s left and right sides makes sense. I'm a feminist, here's my take: I wholeheartedly support that every woman gets to choose how she wants to live. If she wants to live in a farm and do these jobs, it's great for her. Truly. The problem with this particular couple (or any similar couple) is the respect for each other. This woman bears the birthing of eight children, and very clearly expressed her desire to go to Greece, mind you she said that to someone who can actually make it happen. For her birthday, her very special day, he got her an egg apron. An apron. And not even that, he didn't even bother to pack it properly or something. It's not that we are mad with what she chose to do with her life, we're mad because of the way she's treated by get husband. It's unfair that she could have become a wonderful ballerina and instead she deals with a husband like that. The issue is not that she's living traditionally, the issue is her husband. So please don't twist our words.

But she chose her husband and her lifestyle; she continues to choose him. It also was her choice to pick children over being a professional ballerina - she can’t do both. If she’s unhappy in her choices she can do something different. Who are you to tell her that because she doesn’t have fancy birthday presents she is living life wrong?
She very clearly enjoys the image, lifestyle, and fantasy of being the superwoman settler pioneer: has babies without anaesthesia, cooks healthy organic food from scratch, handles 8 kids and counting, all while being lean, muscular, blonde, and naturally beautiful. She’s Laura Ingalls Wilder’s mom reincarnated.
In a country full of broken families, opioid-addicted obese sickly Walmart shoppers, and parents who can barely raise one or two kids with good values… it’s really impressive to see a woman who shows that it’s humanly possible to buck that trend.

My point with the gift is not how fancy or expensive it is, I'm actually against the idea these days that a gift has to be something expensive. I think that's far from the truth. But if you are a wealthy man (lets say any person because this applies to everyone, not only in this specific instance) and you buy for your partner as a birthday present, a basic household necessity item, and you don't even have the decency to at least make it look like a present, then that shows how you think about the other person. Even if he bought her, for example, a simple inexpensive necklace and put it in a nice box or something, it would still be better. Also, I don't want to focus solely in the gift because it's such a small gesture and we could be misreading it. Her husband seems to be at least somewhat controlling. When she herself says that an epidural during birth feels quite great, you can assume that she would like it during her other childbirths. Also, the reporter who wrote the article said that her husband would not even let her answer some questions. You see where I'm going with this? And sure, maybe she chose him, but maybe when she chose him he hadn't shown her that side of him yet. We can't know. And also, we agree that if she's not happy, she can do something different. That's what we are saying and everyone comes for us.
Anyways, she's an admirable woman and I hope she does what's best for her, and obviously neither me or you can know what is truly best for her

@@eleonora2610 Hanna and her husband don't wrap presents. They don't do that for Christmas gifts for instance. It's normal for them.
And if you look at Christmas presents for the kids, nothing particular: clothes, books... only useful things.
These are their values. I'm not surprised: after all, they grew up in mormon families. Each to their own. Personaly, I like it, it's a breath of fresh air to see a family that isn't into the consumer society thing.
"the reporter who wrote the article said that her husband would not even let her answer some questions. '
We all know that reporters, particularly on the left, interprete and make up things. When the rreporter came, she already knew what she wanted to write. If the reality doesn't match what she had in mind, then she change it.
That's why I strongly advise against talking to leftist journalists. It's never a win win.
"it's unfair that she could have become a wonderful ballerina and instead she deals with a husband like that."
      Unfair???
      1) If she had become a ballerina, she wouldn't have become a mother of 8 plus wonderful and well raised kids, an owner of a successful business and a content creator with 9 million followers.
A ballerina career ends at 40. A former ballerina has nothing left, except for maybe a kid raised by a nany, that's it... at 45, Hannah will have a lot of purpose in life: 10 kids by then that she and her busband have seen growing up, a wonderful farm and a huge family business.
      2) I know many women who would love to deal with someone like Daniel: a hands-on father, a faithful & healthy husband, and a competent business partner. The entitlement of women is insane...

To say it was never her dream to be a farmer, only her husband's, and her dream was ballet therfore oppressed is just BS. She did ballet, she was good at it, and then she made the decision to stop. She has agency in who she chooses to marry, and the life she wants. You cannot be a professional ballerina forever, especially if you are having kids. Daniel even said that "Hannah gets so ill from exhaustion that she can't get out of bed for a week". Also, the plane thing was creepy because she rejected him for 6 months straight prior to that. She did not want to get married for at least a year after dating, but he rushed her into marriage after just 1 or 3 months, that was explicitly said. She got pregnant only 3 months after that and she was the first Juilliard undergrad to get pregnant in modern history because it's an insane level of skill that she reached and no one just stops their career there. Her career was not just a little hobby, professional ballerinas train for hours every single day, and getting into Juilliard was an incredibly big deal. It seems like even if they are happy now, she has suffered and sacrificed a lot more in this marriage, all he does is provide and do the laundry, but she is financially well off without him with her tiktok and business, so he's not bringing anything to the table for their family.

My girls adore and admire me. I have time for my family and friends. My life feels organized, orderly, and peaceful. I can go back to work anytime I want, but my kids are little now and they need me. They are more important and home is where I want to be.

Okay, so these are just my thoughts, but I think that Brett was a little bias herself in this video. I think she’s hooked on the conservative narrative that she’s not actually stopping to listen to what the feminist are actually getting pissed about in this situation.
Firstly, when a woman tells a guy that she’s not interested and he still has the audacity to “pull some strings” to get a seat next to her on a plane ride, then yeah, that’s a bit of stalker behavior. A plan ride is a long time to be stuck next to someone that you originally had no intention of dating. In all of the feminist videos that I’ve seen, they said that Daniel kept Hannah hostage in that plane ride and I’d have to agree. A date means going out to dinner or hanging out for an hour or so before you go back home. Also, being on a date means having the freedom to get up and leave that date if it’s not going well. Hannah’s so-called first “date” was the furthest thing from a date in the traditional sense. She was on a plane. She couldn’t leave whenever she wanted to and just the fact that he pulled those kinds of strings when she was still unsure about dating him…yeah, that seems like massive red flags to me. Personally, if I were single and I was still trying to figure out if I liked a guy enough to date him, then I’d be shocked and borderline horrified if I found out that I had share to plane ride with him. Also, consider this…what would he have done if she’d said no and decided to exchange her plane ticket for another plane, especially after all the strings he had pulled to be with her in the first place. What would he have done then, huh, if she ditched him? Would he have hanged back and pulled some more “strings” or would he have gotten the message and gone on his own merry way? 🤔 That’s something to consider too and that’s why people are kind of calling him a creeper.
Secondly, in a lot of the videos that I’ve scene criticizing this couple, much of the criticism is based on the fact that Hannah made it clear that she wants to go to Greece and her billionaire husband gives her freaking egg apron instead. Seriously, what the hell? 😤 I don’t care if this makes me a feminist for saying this, but that is BS. I personally believe that if a man truly loves his wife, then he will give her whatever her heart desires, especially if it’s within his means. If she says that she wants vanilla cake for her birthday, then he better show up with some damn vanilla cake. If she says that she wants to go to Greece, then he better present her with some damn tickets to Greece. Period. And that is where Daniel dropped the ball. 😒 Instead of surprising his wife with a trip to Greece, he gives her an ugly egg apron. Okay, what he has essentially done is given her a chocolate cake after she told him specifically that she wanted vanilla cake. And the crazy thing is that there is no excuse. As Bret has pointed out, this is a wealthy couple. They can afford to go to Greece, but they’re not because apparently Hannah has eggs to harvest. Also, if you look at the video, then you will see Hannah’s smile is strained because the disappointment is evident on her face. She was not happy to receive that apron and her husband’s “you’re welcome” was very much passive aggressive.
Lastly, I think there’s other things that deserve a second look as well. Yes, I get it that some people don’t want Nannie’s for the kids. But when you have 8 of them…you’re going to need some help. And everyone is commenting on how tired Hannah always looks, so it begs the question on if her husband is even helping her out or not with their kids. And another red flag was Hannah admitting to finally getting an epidural after when her husband wasn’t there for the birth of their last child. I’m sorry, but if a woman told me that after having 7 kids without medication, that she was only allowed to have it when her husband finally was present? 🤔 I’m sorry, but there’s no way that shit is a coincidence.
So, I kinda agree with Brett on some things. Yes, moms are meant to sacrifice in order to provide and raise their kids. Yes, children have a way of changing a parent’s goals and dreams. However, I also believe that compromise is a big thing in relationships and it just looks like Hannah has compromised a lot more than her husband has in order to have this lifestyle. And if I learned anything from this whole segment, then it is that I am a moderate feminist at the very least. I still believe in marriage and that women should be home raising their kids. I still believe in men have traditional roles in the family. However, don’t gaslight me and telling me that’s it’s sprinkling when it’s actually pouring. In my opinion, I feel like Daniel was just a little too pushy in their dating phase and I think he was an ass for giving her a damn an apron when she wanted plane tickets. When you can afford to give your wife the world, then you do it with no exceptions. He can afford to stick his kids with a babysitter for a week or two while he takes his wife on a romantic couples vacation to Greece. The fact that he gave her an apron instead speaks volumes.

"she wants to go to Greece and her billionaire husband gives her freaking egg apron instead"
      It's a matter of timing.
They are building a DAIRY farm. It's not the moment to go to Greece.
Honetly, I'm surprised she even suggested such a thing at this moment.
When you're on a big project, you're 100% focused on it. Plus there's a lot of money at stake. This is not the moment to go abroad on holidays.
They will go to Greece, in one or two years when the company is seetled!
For the apron, this is their values. Cf the Christmas presents for the kids: only useful things (clothes, books).

This woman is living my dream. I’m 63 and would have loved to have lived like this. God bless her and her family ❤

I’m a 26year old Mormon who was born and raised in Scandinavia, and my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years now. My bother and his wife got engaged after 2 years and they were both in their late 20s.
Sure there are a lot of Mormons, specifically in Utah, who get married fast which I personally don’t think is smart, but there are plenty of us who don’t. Most of my friends in church, whether they are from the states, Scandinavia, Germany, Spain, England etc. date anywhere between 6months to 3 years before they get engaged. Most of them got engaged after a year.
Half of my friends/acquaintances are married and got married somewhere between 20 and 25, half of my friends are still unmarried and are approaching 30.
Growing up my family and church often emphasized education, I’m studying business, my sister studied law then changed to pshycology. My boyfriend’s sisters are both scholarship students at Yale and will not get married until they are done with their education, my sister in law is an engineer, and I have many other female friends in our church who are highly educated and pursuing careers within business, science etc.
My point is that we most often only see this one image of Mormons in the media and I’m so sick of the stereotype that is attributed to us. Not because there necessarily is something wrong with getting married early and having a family.
Aside from this I feel sad for Ballerina Farm for being used to paint a false narrative for whatever agenda media may have. Thank you Brett for highlighting this

This is the one time I disagree with Brett. My heart breaks for Hannah because she wanted to be a ballerina and she gave up herself and her dreams after she said that she didn’t want to be married yet but her husband said that wouldn’t work and they got married and for her birthday all she wanted was tickets to Greece but he gets her A EGG APRON. It’s sad because how can your husband be a billionaire and his father own a airline but can’t get you the one thing you want after all your sacrifices but her husband has always wanted to live on the farm.

She chose to marry him. If she wants to fake her bedroom pleasure, to be a gold digger, that's her choice.

Also, she can buy the tickets, herself.

@@DDD11239 Tf? Are you insane Juilliard is a school with about a 5% acceptance rate this wasn’t just some hobby she gave up so much. Now also don’t sit here and say she’s a gold digger cause she wanted tickets to Greece when she takes care of 8 children, works hard on the farm to where she can’t get up from exhaustion and all she wanted was a break from that lifestyle and he is a BILLIONAIRE and his father owns a airline so it’s pretty easy for him to get tickets but he got her a apron? It’s her birthday and she was still grateful for the apron even though she wanted to get away from that life for just a couple days and he got her something she didn’t even ask for.

@@Holy_slays The gold digger reference correlated with the fact that she married him within months of initiation, not about the tickets. Gold diggers will fake love, fake bedroom pleasure, AND reproduce, to gain wealth. (Even if they enjoy the bedroom fun, they still will fool men).

I've followed them for like, 4 years. They've been on multiple trips to Hawaii, they've been to France, she shares way more in shorts than in her main posts and she genuinely seems to love her life. Of course none of us can really know, but there's really no obvious evidence over YEARS that she's this sad person and suddenly in one interview this is the picture being painted? Silly.

Ok. So there is that the article was overblown- True.
But so are you on the opposing end. It makes your reporting just as untrustworthy and to top it all hypocritical.

Brett has progressively become more defensive and bias… I miss her more logical, emotionally more neutral takes

I dislike how she portrayed feminists as jealous without looking into their valid concerns about her mental and physical health

When it’s all you know; you’ll never know how you really feel. I got married at 19, and just so glad I escaped. It’s been rough, but you could not pay me a billion to trade her places. Money isn’t everything.. so glad I walked away.

You were just scared of being alone, kid. Marriage isn't required.
