Also waiting on new compressor for my AC, due in end of the month!! Cant wait to have AC. Cooled seats have helped though 👍. Also had ARBs replaced front and back, front upper and lower control arms and drop links. This week had rear arch liners out cleaned all dirt. Aquasteel rust prevention applied to areas needed then Lanoguard applied. 👍 Awaiting delivery of new arch liner fixings and weatherstrip before reassembly. Got a weatherstrip for front part of the rear arch as well, as not fitted from factory. Might have to do a video on all this. Lol. Look forward to the next one.

The Autel AP200 is a brilliant bit of kit for the money to use with a smartphone. It doesn’t do much in the way of programming, but it did cure my stop/start on my Discovery Sport, which the iCarsoft scanner failed to do and it gives proper codes with the 2 digit suffix, which again the iCarsoft fails to do. If you want programming then a more expensive Autel 908 is probably the way to go, but the iiD tool may be worth a look as well or the Lynx. I’ve been really impressed with the Autel and It’s saved me £££’s. Keeping my eye on my oil dilution with it!

Hey Sam, I think our TDV8s were separated at birth. Our alternators went around the same time and we both have no a.c., but I do have now. The O ring was split right at the top easiest connector to get at just behind the grill. Gassed it and nothing. The guy told me the valve that goes in and out of the compressor has three O rings, that and the solenoid get jammed up. So over a few days I flicked the AC button on and off on the climate control and hey presto, AC like a Rangie should be, you could hang meat in it. I hope it works for you since I've heard changing the compressor is a heart breaker. Cheers from Ireland..

    • @SamsMotors

Pretty much guaranteed to be the refrigerant control valve on the back of the compressor. You have to remove the compressor to get at it - so you may as well replace the whole thing at that point.

It's fairly beefy being an M16 bolt loaded in double shear. I looked it up and the book spec for an 8.8 M16 bolt in that loading is about 120kN (~12 tonnes), so that should do! The 'slot' on the hitch slides over a pin further back in the receiver too, so any "up/down" force is shared between that and the bolt.

Interesting that you use 'km' despite being in the States. Mine's also Santorini black. I don't mind it but I think I'd rather have one of the green or blue paints that were available if I had the choice.

Km.bc I live here now ..however raised in EU ..principally italy and Ireland..although I do have British heritage ..
Americans really don't appreciate the pedigree of LR ..they prefer to drive Lexus..
Being that I'm also a cyclist..we know the roots of the safety rover ..
