Thank you. That's been pissing me off too. I personally loved the direction Evolve was going and enjoyed Alex's cleans, but people gotta bitch. This song in particular does feel a bit lazier than what'd I'd expect from them, but I'll wait for the album to judge it.

You're fucking stupid. The reason most people are complaining is because lyrically and musically it's garbage. When they had clean vocals I thought that they used it well and the lyrics were interesting and the instrumental kept me entertained. When ashes to ashes came around sure it had more technical solos here and there but there was still lots of just open note filler chugging. I could live without it but i still liked the album for the most part. But here they just completely didn't give a fuck. I cannot pick out any actual riff except chugging and the lyrics are just on a whole other level of cringe.

I'm just stating my opinion, I'm not trying to start a war on this comment section but Ashes To Ashes had a lot of chugging. I'm not saying there wasn't melodies but overall it was chugging. I know Desolation Of Eden had a lot too but I felt like Ashes To Ashes could've been better. If you listen to Evolve, it's a lot of melodies and technical stuff going on and they didn't bring that into Ashes To Ashes.

Could we just appreciate the fact they actually made an album for their fans instead of hating because it doesn't satisfy your impossible hunger for "good" music. Like, yeah, the lyrics sounded fairly emo on this song which is a small downside but the instrumentals are good at least! Yeah, it's not their self-titled EP, Desolation Of Eden or My Damnation but if any Chelsea Grin fans are so desperate for them to go back to their self-titled, Desolation and Damnation days, then stay listening to those releases.

Saw Chelsea at Warp Tour in Charlotte this past July. They were absolutely fantastic. One of the top acts of the day. Between Chelsea and Motionless it was hard to pick who I liked the best. Both bands really seemed genuinely happy to be there playing for us. Most of the other bands just didn't give off that vibe.
Very boring... Didn't hold my attention the lyrics and structure just were not there for me at all. Huge decline from Ashes to Ashes although I really like Skin Deep

The drummer doing the lows. Idk there is something very perfect about that, he does bass on his feet and with his face. On that note there last two album were "eh could be better" but this one so far is brilliant can't stop listening.

Don't really care what the critics are saying about this song. If you take it for what it is, which is a just a super heavy vent of aggression, the song doesn't disappoint. That being said, 2:16 is freaking amazing.
Reminds me of a scene from Saw. I thought this was pretty interesting, but a bit too busy, like too much at once, if that makes sense. I do like the lyrics as well. I just miss them on Artery Records.

This album is basically a throwback to their old school style before they started hitting it big. More of a trash-talking fuck you style. Think Crewcabanger or Cheyne Stokes.

The self-titled track for DoE had a powerful message behind it that was easy to pick out like their 2016 material, but had so much stronger delivery when it came to the writing. Then, you have songs like Recreant, which is what this new track is very reminiscent of lyrically.

I love Chelsea Grin, but i have to admit Ashes to Ashes is the best album they have done, both musically and lyrically the vocals were beast and the music videos are literally fire. That's the best direction for them, one of my favorite album.

Maybe they can't get the sound to be like it was, they've been doing this shit for years and it's hard to sound high pitched like he use to. You'll be hard pressed to find any heavy genre vocalist using anything else than false chord. It is just a combination of throat technique and the positioning of your mouth and tongue to do gutterals. Which you'd be surprised how much of an impact it can have on the sound that comes out. Something that could be called a pig squeal though is very possible with a fry screaming technique. However most fry screamers just shout their asses of (Austin Carlile being a big one)
