Chelsea Grin will forever be one of my favorite deathcore bands of all time
Ashes To Ashes is still the best album nothing can top that the technical riffs and solos the Jason put in and the keyboard bells while playing gave me goosebumps so flawless.

Although i loved their oldest albums ( DoE, My damnation ) this still kicks ass.

Much like the "blegh" in bands like Architects and Sworn In, Chelsea Grin's "eugh" (like the one at 0:59) never gets old. Simple but effective, I love it!

I wholly respect people's opinions on the new album and Chelsea Grin as a band in General. But as a fan who has watched this band grow, listening all the way from the Self-Titled EP up to the current release "Self Inflicted", this band has grown massively. Yes I adore the harrowing sadistic feeling that comes from songs like "Disgrace", "Recreant", "Crewcabanger", but over time, they have really amounted to something incredible.
They have remained a solid band in my eyes. Yes lyrically the new Album isn't as up to par, but it's relate-able and you can pick up the lyrics easily, making it memorable and emotionally impacting as they discuss topics people can empathise with. Grin don't hold back, songs such as "Love Song", "Broken Bonds", "Scratching & Screaming" and lastly "Strung Out". They sustain the brutality, it's just a change in tone, it's more Progressive and that came after the Evolve EP (arguably my favourite CG release) when Jason was in the band for a few years. He helped shape Grin into something unique now. I don't see any Deathcore band like Grin at the moment.

Lol this is actually a tad bit softer than what they used to sound like. I advise you check out their entire discography. They have a bit to offer in terms of change in sound.
If you get into this band, listen to the albums in reverse chronological order. If you listen to the first album to soon the rest will be disappointing.

a lot of bands with chuggin breakdowns through most of their songs, which are easy to play and write are just un interesting to me.. but the with a vocalist who can do different sounds and colors in the vocals and are so emotional and chilling, like the vocalist in this band, it can be really awesome.. especially considering what they do with it as a whole

That's the theme of the album. Like 90% of the songs have that "meh" lyrical moment but the songs themselves are fucking phenomenal. Listen to Strung Out asap.
+Lord Metal that is true but it's extremely overused nowadays and their lyrics in some songs are just generic. "I'm not fucking that bitch anymore" "get the fuck out of my life" "save me" just shit like that is so common it's just meh.
+Lord Metal 2008 wasn't the start of using lyrics like that. trust me dude I'm a huge fan of CG as well and I think these songs are kick ass but they lack lyric wise.
+Lord Metal and I'm saying they were not one of the first bands to do that. it wasn't as popular to have lyrics like that back then but they were not one of the first to do it. and yes I know they can write good lyrics. we are not talking about the lyrics in Evolve we are talking about what has been presented to us in Self Inflicted.

Shuffling forward, its gnarled putrescent body writhing forward with unpredictable motion. Random twisting limbs sprouting out at various angles. Eyes glazed over but still with some intellect remaining, wanting only for one thing. TO EAT. With a rear of its rotted head it heaves a sick mess of horrible rotfilth forward onto its unfortunate victims, leaving nothing behind..
