    On these engines, the exhaust manifold starts to crack. I would recommend removing the heat shield in cold engine and looking at the exhaust manifold carefully. Cracks will throw the code, the solenoid is a symptom but not the cause. The ECM did exactly what it was intended to. I replaced mine and the same symptoms reappeared. Replacing the solenoid on buys time so now the computer has to count over again before it sets the code, causing the same issue until you fix the cause.

      Sounds like your saying buy a new engine. Or is there a more economical way to fix engine cracks? I doubt my 2016 is cracked, no reason it should be unless those pistons are powerful enough to break loose and do serious damage!

    • @MAINTAIN223
      @MAINTAIN223 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A cracked exhaust manifold or bad manifold gasket can cause your issue. Most of us never think to remove the heat shield and examine this until we've looked at everything else.

  • @slim404
    @slim404 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this was 2011 but I'm buying mine now over 10 years later (2023) and found them both on Amazon for around 20 bucks. Is it possible the parts (should) depreciate in value along w/the car? Hmm 🤔 Well either way you should be saving a lot by doing this job yourself bc nowadays everyone is greedy especially mechanics. A penny saved is a penny earned! 👍🏻 Stay frosty grease monkeys.

      Timing chain replacement is recomended between 90 and 150k miles. Mine is stretched, 110k, or has slack some, and I have a P0016 code. Changed valve cover gasket, loose chain.

    Maybe you or someone can help. I have a 2011 Buick Regal CXL 2.4l. The car was running rough so gave the car a tune up, the camshaft solenoids, a new timing chain set, catalytic converter, flex pipe, valve cover and gasket, water pump, cleaned the throttle body. And still hear a rattling sound a little also the car likes to shutter when at idle or at a stop it does it on and off. Extremely frustrated haven’t even had the car a full year and put so much money into it any info would help!

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a GM bulletin number 13413D that may apply for your car, just Google that code. Does your car have any check engine light?

    • @Mo78uno
      @Mo78uno 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have same problem and I'm changing my solenoids now...only time it really doesn't putt when idle or stutter is after an oil change ..but when my oil level reads 60percent it starts rattling again putting...annoying...cause then I have to keep getting oil changes frequently or top it off...my car is dead right now...so hoping changing solenoids(again) fixes it

      Mo78uno Yes after an oil change she’s running fine. It’s like with fresh oil in her she runs perfect give it about 2 weeks maybe less and she starts the same stuff yours is doing. We’ve replaced everything intake, oil pans, timing cover, tune up, new throttle body.

    When these solinoids fail it is an early sign that your timing chain is going to fail.

  • @glock23fan50
    @glock23fan50 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    #1 problem GM 2.4L are junk the 3.6L will hold up longer. Your timing chain has slack plastic inside got cutting metal that why cams pos. Are coded and piston rings leak. Manifold will crack and new timing chain needed. If your a mechanic it’s a money pit. Sell it best money spent.
