    That tick is the evap valve, perfectly normal

      Mine went suddenly much noisier this week from having been much less audible. You can hear it from outside the car hood down and it’s there when you rev also. Its a 45k miles 2017 b9 s4. Personally I don’t find it acceptable to have such an audible tick in a car of this calibre... no check engine lights...

      how can it be normal? it wasn't there when I bought it new. Fuck Audi my Q7 is only 70000km it sucks 1 quart of oil every 3-400 km now it makes this noise.

      @@dman764 it can be a rocker arm witch is not normal

    I have an A6 with same engine,

    This is the evap valve like someone said, but I will add to his statement, once it starts making noise like that, just leave that. Replacing it wont fix it but it’s fine just let it be

    • @gamingargamingar708

      I replaced mine and it kept doing it, I’ve done tons of research on it and the general consensus is just let it tick

    Thank you guys i am getting paranoid about the sound i bring mine in and actually talked to the Audi dealership since my they have worked on my timing chain he said it was normal but i still nit convinced for 59 879 miles this should not happen

    It's the HPFP, or the injectors it's normal on this engine

  • @dman764

    Seems like a pretty bad sound for such a good car. Audi said it was normal once you took it in?

    • @BJNeutral
      @BJNeutral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Normal sounds. It's the N80 Evap valve opening and closing in order to create a vacuum. Modern engines require modern solutions to things like emissions.

      N80 Evap valve. Normal noise, nothing to worry about.

    What was the problem?

    • @BJNeutral
      @BJNeutral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It never caused any issue and I have heard it on several 3.0 TFSI engines. I would not worry about it!

  • @tizabok
    @tizabok 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same issue, can you please tell me if you have fixed it and how?

    • @BJNeutral
      @BJNeutral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've taken a look at your video. There's no abnormal noise, just direct injection ticking away. The ticking is not known to cause any issues and there is no fix.

    • @tizabok
      @tizabok 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BJNeutral it seems that the noise is coming from the left side and I was worried that it was something like tensioners or timing chain. The car has only done 55k and was properly serviced by Audi. Anyways Im taking it tomorow for a proper diagnostics

    • @BJNeutral
      @BJNeutral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Definitely not the chain. All tensioners by Audi leak. The noise associated eith tensioners is an audible rattle for 1-2 seconds upon cold start. Even if you replace the tensioners, it will happen again after some time. It is costly and serves no purpose. In your place, I would enjoy the car :)

      @@seanduque9492 it was nothing serious mate, apparently it is supposed to tick like that.
