It was 1990, I was seven years old and I remember waiting in the car with my mother outside of a 7 Eleven in Richmond VA while my father played the lottery. When we parked our car, we pulled up right next to a smoke grey 5.0 Mustang GT that the owner left running and I noticed the two bucket seats were "dancing" to the bass of the owners massive sound system which was playing 'Ice Ice Baby' loud for all to hear. I remember us laughing at the seats moving to the bass and what a fond car memory. I was but a kid in the 90's, but even I have fond memories of Fox 5.0's in their heyday. I'll have one someday.
Im a 80s baby. There was a corner gas station close to my house out in the country in NC. THE LATE 90s early 2000s there was about 6 teenagers that had foxbodies. I loved going by "The Store" after school they would all be there getting gas and snacks and you could count on atleast half of them.... ok all of rhem pulling out sideways. Many days you could catch a race where they would literally stop in the road side by side and racing until about half way into 3rd gear before the curve came up. It is what INFECTED me with the car bug, I could tell if it was a Mustang coming down the road just from just the sound! NOTHING sounds like a 5.0 with a off road h or x pipe and 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters! There was a couple z28s and Irocs, but they knew the deal! Lol.
I graduated high school in 99'. I worked at a Ford dealership as a helper around 2000'.. I remember one of the dispatchers had a green 95 GT with a E-cam, 3.73s, and some flowmasters. Two of the mechanics had 93s', both coupes. Chris's 93 was stock with headers, 355s and flows. That car was black with black interior, and it had 10 holes. I loved that car. I watched him trade it in for a white 01' GT.. I miss those days. It was awesome growing up in those times.
Its cool, ive had my 89 since 94 and havent changed much. Still got the same exact monster tach,3 inch cowl hood weld draglites, cobra intake, x303 cam i put on it in 1996. Everytime I drive it I still feel like I did when i was 18 years old.
Awesome vid. It was a great time to be alive. I was 17 in 87 and I remember when my folks bought a new Aerostar...lol, there was a new red 87 gt iw/ tops in the showroom and I was in luv man.
Love it! I remember those days. Mustangs, Irocs, Grand Nationals, Formulas, and GTAs. Mustangs and Grand Nationals were the fast guys though. I was 19 when I got my first Fox Body back in 1989. It was a 1988 white LX hatch with only 11k. Exhaust, gears, and lovers painted to match the car. LOL!!! Those were the days!
Good old memories. I love every iteration of these cars over the years. Sometimes people ask me why this style mustang and not something more “classic”. I was born in ‘79 and these cars are MY classics. I love all cars, but these are my childhood when my love of cars was born. Thanks and keep up the great content. 👍🏻
I was born in 92 and remember seeing cars like those go to shows with my family. And for me I still love the old school stuff. I absolutely love the big blower look.

Man this brings back so many memories, I live in northern Al. and graduated in 1987, I had an 86 gt and remember going to Panama City Beach in it. Good times, life was so much simpler back then. Great looking fox and love your videos. It had a Kenwood deck and equalizer, 2 15" Orion subs, had 2 Rockwood Fosgate punch 75s bridged to each sub, a RF punch 150 that ran 6 mid range and 6 tweeters, man it would shack the ground and jam. Nothing sounded better than some Motley Crue, Ratt and Poison.
Don’t forget about the fuel pressure gauge sitting under the cowl hood! Had to monitor that fuel pressure! It’s amazing how we still love these foxbodys!
I must be really old school. My first new car was an '86 Mustang GT, light regatta blue. I put Enkei 92's on it after my 10 holes were stolen. The only mod I did was bump up the timing a couple of degrees and remove the intake silencer. My first Fox body was an '82 GL 5.0 notchback with T-tops and TRX's. Bought that in '83 and traded it in on the '86. Still wish I had both of those.
I’m from PCB and had/have a foxbody (3 now)! We probably ran into each other back in the day since we are the same age. Great video BTW, it brings back some great memories.
Walk down memory lane! Hahaha! I didn’t get into the fox body scene until around 1992 and thought they were the coolest car I had ever been in. Went to the drag strip every Friday night and hung out downtown and watched some street racing Saturday nights. B and E cams ran supreme with welds and flowmasters! Lots of people ran nitrous and a few had the Paxton SN blowers. Tuning wasn’t even really a thing back then. People would push fuel pressure, add some timing and high octane gas and let em eat! Great time to be alive!
Its mustang talk man, its always fun to talk foxbodys 👍I miss the late 80s and 90s. The first foxbody I ever saw was in Newfoundland in 88 -89. I was 8 or so. Black notch back, black 10 holes. 5.0 of course lol. Down the back lane. My head purked up everytime be started it.
I had 3 fox bodies in the mid to late 90’s. All had saleen wings (I called them “whale tails”), 2.5’ cowl hoods, the GT’s got LX tailights, monster tach, hurst shifter and pony rims. Miss those days! Engine mods were things like equal length shortys, H pipe with no cats, 2 chamber flowmasters, 3.73s, pulleys, and NOS for cheap power. I ran a LOT of 175hp hits on my 88GT with 150k miles.
I was born in 86 so I remember the 1990's my sister had a 93 regular Mustang 4-cylinder hatchback Fox body and she had a sound system on that thing and I remember it rocking
I did a video similar to this on April 4th. I got pics from 1990 thru today. Most cars are from North and South Carolina. Lots of wire wheels including mine. Saleen spoilers, speakers and Neon lights. I do believe myself and Brew2l are within a year or two of each other in age. 💪💪
I remember the ROH ZS and Centerline Sabre wheels being considered high end stuff. I had the headlight covers and Saleen wing on my 87 LX, and ALMOST threw one of those gawdy paint jobs on it! It was a popular trend at one time to color match your door/window moldings, and everybody swapped their GT cheesegrater taillights for the LX tails. Fast forward to today... I've inherited my dad's 89 GT vert. I'm now restoring it back to 100% original interior, and original appearance except for being lowered with 3-piece Sterns. I even put the original GT cheesegrater tails back on it. Clean and simple is what I love to see on an old Fox right now!
A lot of it has to do where you lived in the U.S. as to how you modded your Fox body. In the 80s, Enkei wheels here on the west coast (I live in SoCal) were very popular since the Fox bodies were 4 lug from the factory(exception being the SVO). The Saleen items were the most popular body kits, but others surfaced, like Kamei and Xenon come to mind. I think when the Pony 16" wheel came out, more Fox owners were less & less putting aftermarket wheels. Once 5 lug conversions became common place, the sky became the limit as to changing wheels. Dropping the stance was of utmost importance when owning a Fox, then stereo, tint and wheels, then exhaust. Engine mods were more extreme and from an 80s perspective, the Fox bodies were pretty much among the fastest on the streets so the need to upgrade was for guys who went to the track regularly. I was born in 1965, so I was pretty much was of driving age when the Fox bodies were fairly new, I've seen so many trends come and go, to my eyes these days, a clean, stock Fox is a thing of beauty, even a 4 banger 4 eyed sedan with hubcaps 😁
They make (or made!) 4-lug Cobra-R wheels. The local dealer had to do the nationwide (US) search to find four of 'em, and they found exactly four left across the US. Not sure if they really were the last four ever to be sold by the dealer, but it makes for a great story, and I'm keepin' em!
I remember my first fox... an 82 GT, black with t-tops. Had louvers on it, a mild sound system, and centerline drag wheels (solid in satin finish). Bought that car for $1700. Didnt know a thing about cars at the time, but had GT40 aluminum heads, 4-barrel holley street avenger carb, and a bunch of other goodies on it in no time. Now I have a 92 Notch... It's way more powerful and handles much better, but it'll never match my first fox.
What a time warp, thanks for putting this out there. I remember VHT'n the rear lamps until a ticked landed me with a fine, same goes for the GTS lamp covers.
I got my first Foxbody when you were 5 and I've had one ever since. I can't wait to get it out this year and take it for the first ride of the season. Keep up the great videos brother!
Ahh just told how much older I am. Love it bro. Brings it back way back. Speaking of systems. 2 series 1 15’s in back seat of my 67 fairlane. Denon. Tape deck now y’all get some of that. Lmao!!!!!’
01 white got slammed on drag lites all the bolt ons gears. 4 Orion 12s and 2 10s filled the hatch precision power amps infinity mids and highs with center channel and Sony head unit and crossover. Don’t forget blacked out windows all the way around. Got a ticket on back beach rd for 137 mph framed to this day. I’ve got 10 years on you but still remember all the fun.
What a flashback in the day video,it was awesome and I can really relate cause I got my 87’ lx in 88’ and still have it to this day and went through all those “touches” lol but the one thing I will not give up is the cowl hood and just had to give up my custom 3” for a 4” cause of clearance issues but in my opinion it just makes the car better, thank you again for the flashback, great video
We did a hidden nitrous kit in a gym bag behind the seat with the solenoids hidden under the wipers, and put those fabulous M&H 305 16 inch Racemasters on Pony wheels...I loved being sneaky and outrunning "faster" cars.
Brings back great memories my Friend. I graduated in 89. The Fox is the car I lusted after, and finally got. I have owned so many fox platform mustangs over the years. Whether the four eye, 87-93, SN-95 or new edge, We had them in the Family. I love your channel. I go back in time every time I’m here. God bless.
Grew up in a GM family, felt guilty bringing MM&FF magazines into the house in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Then my Dad bought a 90 5.0 5spd notch, so I guess there is a universal appeal to the foxbody. I bought it off him last year. Go to any drag strip and foxes are still taking names. It’s the last true old school muscle/pony car, before cars got bloated with safety equipment and creature comforts.
Early 2k2 fresh out of college. Bought a 90 hatch,40k miles on it dropped it off at my local street mechanic, dropped 3grand on the motor and another 2 on the suspension. Got a tune from Mike Murillo in SA. Changed the garbage turbine rims for some black cobra rims, lx tail lights, and hit the streets. Had a CD Player anti skip, with the cassette connection. Lol great times. I was running with terminator cobras no problem. Ate a lot of rice back then too. I miss my baby, I'm in the hunt for another one.
You're pulling on my heartstrings...bringing back the 90 lx coupe AOD that had with stock heads and bottom end but I ran the old f cam, gt40 tubular intake, equal length headers, off road h pipe, w 2 chamber 2 1/2 in Flowmasters, 4.10 gears with stock axles and that NOS candy blue bottle shooting that 150 shot!! Man I loved that car. Killed lots of Vettes and Camaros in that thing.
Awesome video. Early mid 90s we all had foxs. Mine had cut springs, gears, pulleys, headers h pipe flows...160 tstat and 3:55s. I ran the stock ponys and had black vinyl racing stripes on my red 92.gt. West coast we had tons of cars with 17" centerline wheels or borbets.
Those hammers 🔥lol, pcb was magical back in the day. It’s changed sooo much now, mostly high rise condos. I miss the cheap dirty hotels when we would pile about 10 head in a room
Lol. Went to PCB after high school graduation in 93. It was wild. Got kicked out of the hotel the first night. Spent the next day trying to find a room. We found one and I spent one night there, spent the rest of the week in a different hotel room every night. It got pretty crazy.
cant help but keep this latest one stock, shes a survivor. maybe im finally earning some good karma for a few others in my past, that werent cared for as well
I'm only 25 so I obviously don't know what foxbodies looked like back then. And even when I became aware of them I was only around Chevy's so I didn't care. Until I bought my 86 and then I became obsessed.
Man, I dig this episode! A cool look back at trends of old. It brings back memories for sure. I understand individual paint style tastes. I don’t and, never got into the 4 eye tint cover deal. 4 eye foxes are like Mount Rushmore. Let’s see all four of them proud! Haha! ( I dig the 4 eyed as well as the ‘87-‘93 foxes)
Great Video Brew2L ! Always enjoy watching these videos you make on the foxbody “5.0” back in the day and how it used to be , can’t wait to see that hood 👍🏼
Hey man awesome video. This is a throwbacks for me as well. I was born in 79 so just like you a child of the 80s. We could road trip down to florida for spring break in my 88trans am gta in the late 90s. Best times back then. Great seeing the old footage.
DECH...some in the great white north might remember ROH, Borbet,....10 minute tune up, off road H, 2 chamber Flows, 4 10's, big and skinny Draglites. That how I will always remember the 5.0.
@8:01 Yes...Infamous Ball Drive Paxton! On my car from 1994 until last year. Ran really well with a 125 shot as a Chemical intercooler lol! Sent many a T5 to be with its maker.
Ive watched both foxbodys and SN cars go from chrome wheels and a very show like paint schemes with wild graphics.. to stock paint and nice clean simple wheels
I remember the hammers, lowered drop tops and GTs on fat Dayton wheels, Flowmasters (introduced to aftermarket mufflers), The louvers on the GTs, Dudes making the Stick cars BITE second and us as children saying "That's my Car" when one of them flew down the street. 94-95 cars didn't get the same admiration from us when they came out. The prototype that was shown at the auto shows and I the magazines were fine but the official car look like everything that was already out. (The 94 Grand Prix come to mind for some reason) Through the 2000s the must have car was the Notchback and LX Hatch with the GT falling out of favor. Fresh Paint, Clean tasteful interior, A Supercharged HCI 302-347 was a guaranteed magazine cover car. Swapping 03-04 Cobra, Mach1, or the Lightning/Harley Danger engines into to the older 5.0s. The Factory Stock race class showed that these engines with minimum mods were able to run bottom 11s and 10s By the 2010 til today, with the return of the 5.0 into the mustang GT, it has overshadowed the older cars some. Swapping the new motor into the older was the next big thing to do was the coyote swap.I personally saw that there wasn't as many of these cars riding around this decade vs last. GTs came back into popularity. I get a thumbs up or somebody come tell me how they used to have one whenever I take it out As of 2018 the last Mustang made in 1993 is eligible for CLASSIC Plates depending on where you stay.....
Man this video was so awesome. I have a 84, 10 hole, 2 1/2 cowl and 373 gear. I'm kinda of new to the foxbody, but let me tell you I love this freakin thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember back in the day it was cool to have a 4:10 gear with full exhaust, head, cam, intake etc and roll down the strip in 1st gear with them rpms up with just the ambers on around just before it gets dark out!
I remember those days! I always loved the 3rd gen camaro/firebirds in those days and still do. Grand Nationals are awesome as well. Lots of Chevelle's and Nova's cruising the scene in the early 90's, too.
Awesome video! I'm 47 and on my 3rd Fox Mustang. I remember those days very well. Brew2l how did you forget about the Borbet wheels! You even did a video with them on the Cobra clone. Great old school pictures Btw. I love your videos. Keep putting them out we will keep watching them and supporting you!
@@BREW2LFOXBODY lol trust me you've got a better memory than me! I still love digging out the many boxes of old Mustang magazines and sharing them with my 13 year old son while reliving the old days. I'm sure there's a large group of of us older guys and gals that do too.

I remember lots of older foxes swapped the 15” turbines with the pony rims. Also remember the GTS headlight covers. Flow masters with h-pipe/cat delete was popular, 373’s and 410 gears.
My first fox was built in the early 2000s and it had the monster tach with the white face gauges and an explorer intake with some flowmasters and a B cam. Also had the cobra grille insert. Other than that it was completely stock and even had the factory cargo cover in the back
Early to mid 80's style, was Centerline Auto drags, raise white letter tires, louvers and a frontend bra. Sometimes you added mudflaps. Let's not forget sheepskin seat covers....lol
My 92 Lx 5.0 back in 1993 had underdrive pulleys, shorty headers, off road h-pipe, flowmasters, 3.73 gears, K&N drop in filter and a 150 shot of nitrous with M&H tires out back. I was 22 years old in 1993. Fun times...
Mine was a 88 5.0 hatch with new dark blue metal flake paint and machined aluminu 5 star wheels with no mufflers (cats only) and 12" MTX Road thunders with a 600 watt amp. It looked and sounded great. In 2001, two years after parking the front of the car in a barn with 240,000 miles on the odometer,, I jump started it and drove an hour and a half to Lucas Oil Dragway for open racing on Groovy Tuesday without checking the oil, or coolant or even tire pressure. Somehow they let me run with 3 lugs in each wheel and the battery held in with a bungy cord and the rear quarter smashed from a wreck. It ran 14.3s all day while blowing blue smoke and over heating anytime it wasn't moving. After racing I drove it back home an hour and a half away. Still one of my favorite cars. My buddy had an 89 GT with fresh black paint and pulleys. His cousin had a 91 or 92 GT and two of our other best friends had 5.0 camaros. They lost.
I f**in' love this video! I was also born in 78. You took me back to my middle school days drooling and wanting one of those 5 Ohs. To my high school days of drivin my 5 Oh. I washed that thing EVERY. FREAKIN. DAY. I had the headlight covers. At first, I had the 10 hole wheels. But,my brother polished them babies up and painted the inner sections body color! Had me lookin like chrome 10 holes! Lmao, those were definitely the best days!

What about the sn95 gt wheels polished up?? Lol
I was born in 86 so I remember the 1990's my sister had a 93 regular Mustang 4-cylinder hatchback Fox body and she had a sound system on that thing and I remember it rocking
You brought a lot of memories from when I was a kid! My bros gt was a wine looking color! 🤣😂
I did a video similar to this on April 4th. I got pics from 1990 thru today. Most cars are from North and South Carolina. Lots of wire wheels including mine. Saleen spoilers, speakers and Neon lights. I do believe myself and Brew2l are within a year or two of each other in age. 💪💪
I’ll have to check that out 😎
I remember the ROH ZS and Centerline Sabre wheels being considered high end stuff.
Wow really cool video takes me back when I had my first 86 gt man I loved that car
Great point! Yeah I forgot all about enkei wheels.... They were very popular for sure.
Here, near D.C. the thing was to have large tips on your exhaust. I had 4 inch pipes at one point lol
True!
California was and still is THE place for the car scene.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s was awesome.. thanks for the throw back
You nailed it man! I still dig lots of the og mods we used to do back when these cars were damn near new and there wasn't shit out there for 'em
What a time warp, thanks for putting this out there. I remember VHT'n the rear lamps until a ticked landed me with a fine, same goes for the GTS lamp covers.
Aww ya im getting goosebumps just thinkn about the old days. Man i still just love these cars! And you sure do have some amazing ones!
Rode in my first fox in 1980,I was 13 years old. My best friends dad had a ‘79 Ghia hatchback 5.0..... I’ve been in love ever since.
I had the 5 star weld wheels on my 87 GT, I don’t care what the internet says I love the cowl hoods then and now
Loved this video! I had a 88 GT that I painted lime green with two 15 inch soundstreams in the back. Loved that car!
I got my first Foxbody when you were 5 and I've had one ever since. I can't wait to get it out this year and take it for the first ride of the season. Keep up the great videos brother!
I’m still loving my drag lites!!!!! I have 2 foxbodys with them. Hahaha
Orion XTR 💪 that ticket though..👀🤣
What a flashback in the day video,it was awesome and I can really relate cause I got my 87’ lx in 88’ and still have it to this day and went through all those “touches” lol but the one thing I will not give up is the cowl hood and just had to give up my custom 3” for a 4” cause of clearance issues but in my opinion it just makes the car better, thank you again for the flashback, great video
Yeah.. they can’t make me not like a cowl hood💪
In my area,back in the day,they did a cam,hammer rims,whale tale wing,a chip ,exhaust and gears,and louvers
Definitely the best times that's for sure...miss those days!
Finally figured out how to leave a comment. Love the content.
Sounds like you had more fun than the law allowed sometimes lol...
Lol. Went to PCB after high school graduation in 93. It was wild. Got kicked out of the hotel the first night. Spent the next day trying to find a room. We found one and I spent one night there, spent the rest of the week in a different hotel room every night. It got pretty crazy.
Love the videos man! cant wait to get working on my 1991 GT 5.0! thank you for all the inspiration.
Thanks for the time travel! I’ve had my fox since 1999 and it’s got some of the things you mentioned from way back then. These cars are timeless!
Fox body coupe on weld is the best look ever!!!
cant help but keep this latest one stock, shes a survivor. maybe im finally earning some good karma for a few others in my past, that werent cared for as well
I'm only 25 so I obviously don't know what foxbodies looked like back then. And even when I became aware of them I was only around Chevy's so I didn't care. Until I bought my 86 and then I became obsessed.
☝️I love it
Man, I dig this episode!
I love these videos as well, it’s a fun relaxing look back to the Foxbody’s heyday
Hey man awesome video. This is a throwbacks for me as well. I was born in 79 so just like you a child of the 80s. We could road trip down to florida for spring break in my 88trans am gta in the late 90s. Best times back then. Great seeing the old footage.
DECH...some in the great white north might remember
ROH, Borbet,....10 minute tune up, off road H, 2 chamber Flows, 4 10's, big and skinny Draglites.
Crazy ain’t it? Lol
Awesome Video as always
Love my cobra r wheels!
(The 94 Grand Prix come to mind for some reason)
Through the 2000s the must have car was the Notchback and LX Hatch with the GT falling out of favor. Fresh Paint, Clean tasteful interior, A Supercharged HCI 302-347 was a guaranteed magazine cover car. Swapping 03-04 Cobra, Mach1, or the Lightning/Harley Danger engines into to the older 5.0s. The Factory Stock race class showed that these engines with minimum mods were able to run bottom 11s and 10s
By the 2010 til today, with the return of the 5.0 into the mustang GT, it has overshadowed the older cars some. Swapping the new motor into the older was the next big thing to do was the coyote swap.I personally saw that there wasn't as many of these cars riding around this decade vs last. GTs came back into popularity.
I get a thumbs up or somebody come tell me how they used to have one whenever I take it out
As of 2018 the last Mustang made in 1993 is eligible for CLASSIC Plates depending on where you stay.....
Thought I was in high school for a minute 😆. Good video..
😆👌
Man this video was so awesome. I have a 84, 10 hole, 2 1/2 cowl and 373 gear. I'm kinda of new to the foxbody, but let me tell you I love this freakin thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s what I’m talking about ☝️💪
I remember back in the day it was cool to have a 4:10 gear with full exhaust, head, cam, intake etc and roll down the strip in 1st gear with them rpms up with just the ambers on around just before it gets dark out!
Yes!! I remember exactly that. Lol. It was so cool.
LX tail lamps on GTs gave an extra 20 horses back then too!
Amber's on at dusk was so sick on a fox back then... Any car with fogs at dusk was cool ...lol
@Liquid Snakes I had a 93 GT back in 95 and I was disappointed when I discovered that the fogs didn't work unless the head lights were on.
Thanks Ryan, I fogger a lot of stuff actually.. lol like always. 🤔😂

Man this video is awesome you just brought back some of the best memories..
I sure miss the old days, brother. I'd love to go back, just for a bit.
Me and you both.. ✊
Cool video brother-It’s crazy cause I use to race against these cars with my 72 Chevelle back in the early 90z lol and now I own one(86)Stockish 😁
You had a cool car back then too! ✊
Yeah, had to have those louvers to hide your speakers! I was born in 78 to.... “These things were the shit!” I almost fell over laughing lol
Hey, you forgot the classic Pep Boys curb feelers!!! Love 2" cowl and SVO hoods!
Lmao!! Yes I did 🤫😂
All my mods went under the hood along with some rims and tinted windows and I was good with the rest being all stock
Gotta love those days! Thanks brother 🙏
Forgot to mention every fox body on the planet had Flowmasters...
Absolutely ☝️💯
