    I just replied to your Facebook post with a picture of mine that I'm building right now. I'm doing a street car with wheels from a 99 svt cobra and the cowl induction hood that the kit came with. It's such a cool kit. This is my second one I'm putting together.

    I know it's a bit of a drive, but come down to Tucson Dragway. We'd love to have you down here. I have a 91 Lx 5.0 5 speed myself. It's a hatch as well. I wish Revell would make an Lx hatch model. Cool build.

      I plan to one day. I just need to do a couple more things to mine. To where I will trust it for a road trip. I have wanted to check out that facility for years.
      I agree. I want an LX Hatch. That is why I'm making one. If it turns out good. It will become a resin body I will produce.

    Ive built 2 of these the first was done in white with black out head and tail lights as well as black wheels and black center on the hood, took hood scoop from an 88 gt amt kit and narrowed it. Glued it to the top of the 92 hood and made the car look like my 93 mustang. The second kit I built as a drag car, custom mixed an dark orange color to spray it will and did the black out head and tail lights, high rise intake and an air cleaner made from a popsicle stick. so yes its converted to be a single 4 barrel engine. Its a very good kit with good fitment on the parts. enjoyed building both kits.

    I love Foxbody Mustangs, I had two of them. I had an 83 GL 5.0 5spd. notch, yes it was called a GL not LX back then. I also had an 86 GT, the first fuel injected year. I have about 6 of these kits. I agree it's a great kit.

    Love it! Just as I'm starting mine, Luka Cee shows his. I love this kit and I also used to own a Camaro, but my cousin had a green LX 5.0 with a Procharger (I think) and kit was FAST! I'm swapping a few things and the idea of putting a NOS bottle in it.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh, that sounds cool. Back in the 80s. I was all about the 3rd Gen Camaros and Firebirds. To me. The Mustangs were just LAME. But then in 87. Ford dropped the redesigned "Aero" look on them with the performance hop ups out of the box. They caught my attention. Especially when these cars were blowing my Trash Am away. I had always wanted one from that day, forward.

    I enjoy your channel; the info, the tips, and the humor.
    This is one of my favorite kits, for that reasons you point out, and because it also contains the stock front suspension, stock hood, and those “small” racing slicks. The slicks scale out just a wee bit smaller than the maximum size NHRA allows for stock class cars, 9” x 30”. Stock class cars require stock spec suspensions and hoods. With just a little bit of research and detailing it is easy to represent a legal stocker.
    Adding your larger rear tires and the racing front suspension gets one on the path to NHRA Super Stock, SS/GT, or many other possible configurations. As you noted, Revell did their homework and provided drag enthusiasts a wonderful kit.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I used to race under NHRA rules in a few classes in the past. I've mentioned that I have a few of my old NHRA and NASCAR rule books in reach at my desk. Keep an eye out on my UnPodcast shows. I may have a guest that was up close and personal with the car Revel researched for that kit. How cool is that?

  • @mitchbarber3468
    @mitchbarber3468 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    U may want to look a a rule book from nhra about what may be required as safety items, like longer studs are required, plus manufactures making after market wheels which ones sell 4 lug or 5 lug

    I think you nailed the optical illusion of this kit's roofline. Perhaps the window trim across the top is too pronounced also. Both give the Chrysler 300C appearance in the roof.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel

    I built this one only recently as the stock version. The paint didn't come out too well because of humidity etc so I finished it as a beater. I found that I had to cut the chassis at the back because it was too long to fit properly under the body. But to my mind it should ideally have a different dash and steering wheel for the drag version.

    I have the police version of this kit. I was really disappointed that they molded the light bar lenses in red transparent plastic. The instructions say they are clear. Had to use a different light bar from the AMT Ford Taurus kit.

I enjoyed hearing the perspective from someone who has a race ready one and now I see I gotta get a couple. Your video prompted me to take out some of my Fox body Mustang kits and examine the Revell body. I've always felt there was something not quite right but couldn't put my finger on it. I think your assessment is correct -- the line on the top of the door ("beltline" is the industry term) is a little too high. I wonder if removing the inner window trim would improve the overall look. I thought I'd compare the Revell body with an MPC '79 and wow, what a difference -- MPC's beltline is MUCH lower, and I wonder if it's too low! The roof seems awfully high on that kit. Maybe looking at MPC's for so many years tainted our impressions of the Revell body. But comparing kit with kit isn't really the best way to do this -- gotta use a real car for reference.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any kind of white glue like Elmer's Glue All is a great glue to mock up your model to see how things test fit before you paint and final assembly with your actual preferred permanent glue of choice.
      I am sorry that you were laughed at. There are so many great modelers that have you tube channels that will never laugh at you when you ask them a question. So just forget about that guys. He probably won't be around much longer. We do this to help out our fellow car modelers. Not make fun of them. Gee whiz. Some of these people. Right?😆

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes AND No. It is a very heavily airbrushed photo of the car that they used for the research for the kit. Only thing at this time I can tell you, is. The "Research" car looks nothing like the representation on the box. As in color and graphics. That was all made up by the Revell artists.

    Did the Fox Bodies run 4 lug wheels for their entire 1979-1993 run? My mind is trying to trick me into thinking that they switched to 5 lugs for the last couple of years of the run. Were the 5 spoke Pony wheels 5 lug?

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They were 4 lugs the entire "Foxbody" run. You will see a lot of 5 lugs on them today because it is probably the most common mod done to them.

    It's a shame when the same old farts tgat complain about the noise of racing six months later are complaining to the city council about what are they going to do all the street racing.
    Kund of like the HOA president complaining about the hog farm they built next to while eating a ham sandwich.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel
      @TheLukaCeeChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I agree. But surprisingly that, that was not what took out all of the race tracks in the Phoenix area's. It was either the decisions or the actions of the track owners. None of our tracks got noise complaints and council meetings on closing them. Very sad.

      @@TheLukaCeeChannel I know; sadly real estate's more important for a wearhouse or to set idol than for a racetrack anymore. Hopefully in this country, for a lot of things, times will change back to common sense, we can always hope & pray.
