So now we have a better look as to why tall Ben's lap was much worse. The car is technically unfinished for track duty. Hard to put down a competitive lap when you have a lot more than a spiffy paint job to worry about. Hoping this gets a rematch with the S2K having its teething issues resolved. Doesn't need to be a Driving Line collab. I will watch it. Congrats short Ben on the RX-8
The S2000 looks incredible...before the professionally installed PPF of course! Please keep the RX-8 a grip monster/track weapon! I'd love to see how fast it can go. Maybe a turbo is the way to go...
Isnt that one of the problems with running an inline K-series? The way the oil pan and baffling is, it can starve oil... Another YTer had the same oil problem with a K-series S2000. But they fixed it with some kind of custom pan setup.

He actually didn't. At the most he should have done a street port and recommended an actual good header/exhaust like racing beat. You probably meant he saved the day with the caliper. Yes he did.
The S2k can't match the RX8 on handling. I know from personal experience. 3 reasons: 1) RX-8 has a longer wheel base, 2) RX-8 can fit wider tires, 3) RX-8 has the DSC that works really well.
The rx8 is criminally underrated. Its built off a miata chassis so its a 4 door nearly 200hp 10k rpm screamer with amazing handling. Of all the fun cars ive driven in my lifetime that dam rx8 made me smile the most
Regarding the oil pressure: check your logs in the haltech. Sometimes the safety trigger goes off due to small bubbles in the oil feed causing it to think the oil pressure is low. You’ll see this as quick drops in pressure that are infrequent. You can change your sample rate to compensate for this.
Sell the R3 to someone who wants to show it. Those are rare and a lot of people appreciate them. Countless Rx-8s available with blown motors. Swap a 2.5 in and add a Turbo, let's see what the platform can do with the power it deserves
Show car? Have you seen the previous videos? I don't know in what world an old discarded R3 is show worthy or even appreciated, but I do know if any RX-8 is a driver's car it would be that one. It's doing exactly what it should be.
It's rusted and pranged. And now has a bunch of extra holes drilled in the boot lid lol. That ship has sailed. What it needs is suspension development (stock bilstein is quite good on the R3 but there is room for improvement especially once you start adding aero) and more aero, especially drag reduction to offset the lower power. Maybe a 20B swap. But that's big money. You can build the 13B MSP for >11k rpm, with balanced and lightened rotating assembly and other modifications; I've seen dubious claims of 300 whp with a ram intake and accoutrements. Even 250 whp would be huge though.

Almost nobody but if you're driving a car, a car guys willing to help. One of my favorite examples is the Corvette guy who randomly dropped off a car cover. The guy thought he was throwing trash on his car. He went out inspected and there was a note saying I had one just like this here's my old cover. ❤❤❤❤ Car guys are the best
Called it on the last video lin has the better car but lil ben is the more experienced driver. If lin gets as much seat time as lil ben he'd be a monster cause his line up of cars are legit and the beat at the 4 minute mark 🔥 and seizing calipers is definitely a mazda thing when i had my speed 6 my left caliper seized so much.
Not only did you add a bunch of grip to the RX, but RX-8's are extremely well balanced. Those things will rotate on a pivot around turns. Adding all that grip just makes it faster.
Welcome to the RX8 life. I had 245 firehawks and I had to work to break them loose. A good amount of camber in the front and a overall good alignment with good suspension will make the 8 an unusually good handling car.
Renesis does not like boost. Hit up Tuned By Shawn and get his Haltech Piggyback ECU setup and add FlexFuel. Good-win Racing has a Wilwood Big Brake Kit for front and rear. And that's all you need. Well, all you can really do in order to keep some form of reliability.

Both cars in this series seem to be built so haphazardly with little research into the tuning approach and part selection. I’d hazard to guess they scrambled to put these together to keep a weekly release schedule considering so many of their vehicles are blowing up.
I'd love to see the RX8 be a "driving experience" build of a car. Do things that may not be better on paper or lap times but end up giving better feel. They talk about that transmission in the S2000, why not throw it at the RX8? Why not do ITB? A proper wing setup for the ultimate grip? To go more power, engine swap, all that would miss the opportunity to go for a car that just naturally gets more headline appeal.
Pretty sure ITBs on an MSP would make it dramatically worse, reduce torque and engine responsiveness at all or nearly all RPMs. The factory intake with its runner valves is extremely well developed and hard to beat.
Every K Swap car owner 1st step remove the oil pump and balance shaft. 2nd step talk about how bad the vibrations are and how it rattles the whole car into pieces 😮😮 😂😂

I think the rx8s tires are bigger than it can really use. More tire doesn't always mean more better. There's a point of diminishing returns where you are widening your contact patch (side to side), but your also making it shorter (front to back). So it's not actually any bigger. And the rx8s doesn't have the weight or suspension geometry to use all of that tire. That's probably why there were strips of un-used tired on the sides. Idk about rx8s, but Im a s2000 person, and that point of diminishing returns for us is in the 265/275 territory. I'm a wrench turner tho, not some smart boi, so I could be totally wrong.

Yep. Like I've been saying. Rx8 is a diamond in the rough and prices will slowly start to climb as time goes on. These kids from gears and gasoline did everything possible to make the rx8 slower than stock with the bs mods that make it slower, and it still whooped the s2000 and has back seats. Gonna go enjoy mine today with 203whp STOCK

A turbo up to about 7psi is doable with a renesis. Otherwise they need a REW or Turbo II engine.
Engine can handle it. However, the transmission is the biggest issue, considering it's basically just a NC Miata transmission
