I wish I could get my brother a dark saber…his wife just died from cancer and he’s absolutely depressed. They both were obsessed with Mandalorian…maybe one day 🤷🏻
When they choreographed the Vader/Luke fight in ROTJ, there was no moment when Luke did not have the advantage. In the novelization, Vader becomes afraid not only of Luke's raw power, but of Luke's speed which is beyond his own. The original salvo of blows was edited out of the movie because Lucas/Marquand considered it to be too vicious, and made the fight's conclusion too obvious. The key difference between Vader and Luke was not necessarily Dark/Light, but Vader's self-hate v. Luke's intuitive and forgiving relationship with life. Watch all of the Lucas movies. There are scenes when both apologize for things they have done, or attempt to empathize with people who are suffering. Anakin always seems to be insincere (except with his mother), while Luke seems genuine. The novelization even hints that the moment Anakin returned was when Luke didn't kill him. When Vader seizes the Emperor, there is text that he had been gathering his strength and waiting for the right moment to intervene. This was all due to a final lesson which Luke taught him. Accept things, and move on. It's never too late to make the right choice. Until that point, Vader was just compounding the mistakes he had made when he turned...
Conclusion: Authoritarians suck at anything analytical. If he had just sat down and actually listened to philosophy or even an economist, he could have understood the sunk cost fallacy that was his life. /s
You just reaffirmed why lukes second saber is so important and unique in the story of the orginal trilogy. It is symbolic of the journey from boy to man and the tranformation of Luke into his own person.
@@michaelmccandless1280 I kind of wish that was given a bit more context, maybe him saying: "This isn't really mine" Of course, it's better to show than tell, but TLJ had high expectations to live up to, which it failed to match at the time, plenty of Star Wars fans were looking for some nit-picking. I doubt the writers of TLJ thought very far ahead for the intro scene like you though. They just decided it because: "Let's subvert some expectations because why not"
@@michaelmccandless1280 Instead of tossing the lightsaber over his shoulder, he should give it a good look at it and reminiscent at what it means to him, especially since he lost it with his fight and should be a key for him to return to the fight instead of just sit on a deserted island on a planet away from anyone else like a coward, should be what I said, him conflicted but willing to train Rey, say that he would train her but won't help the fight as Rey try slowly and surely trying to bring Luke to his senses, also instead of Luke trying to kill Ben in the flashbacks, he tries to help him but the Darkside has a big pull on Ben, what Rian Johnson did was bad and made for humour or whatever, but it came off disrespectful and such, but from what I said sounds like what meant to happen, what J J Abrams was meant to do with the second sequel movie before Rian threw that out and made his own, so yeah
@@bradwhite5884 I'm sure Luke did reminisce about what it meant to him: a terrible memory, including the loss of his hand. After what happened to him, why should Luke have wanted to return to the fight? Why would he have been "conflicted" to train Rey? Why should he have instructed her, especially after sensing her "raw strength" and pull to the dark? Luke didn't try to kill Ben. He reacted out of "pure instinct", just like his violent reaction to Vader threatening to turn Leia to the dark side. But in both instances, Luke stopped short. How was TLJ's portrayal of Luke "disrespectful" to his character? What do you think JJ Abrams was meant to do with the second sequel movie? At the time, JJ literally said that what Rian Johnson did was 'very much in line with what he had in mind'... and was the films Executive Producer.
I was five years old in 1983 when ROTJ hit theaters. Some pictures in some books I had showed Luke's saber as blue. When Luke ignited his saber on the skiff, revealing a green blade, that was a another level of coolness at the time.
I had Luke Skywalkers from the ROTJ film. The FIRST one I had (before it was broken) actually had a BLUE saber. When I got the storybook, yes I was puzzled; his lightsaber was GREEN. When I got the second one - that one was green.
He lost something that was long and stick-like which, (due to it being a super bright color) might make someone go blind if they play with it in their hand too long.
It doesn't JUST mean removing the testicles. It also means to deprive someone of power. THAT completely happened. Vader removed Luke's power. Vader castrated Luke.

I definitely prefer the more distant angle of the deleted scene to the closer shot that's in the film, as the farther perspective makes the duel clearer. However, the sequence doesn't seem to be entirely successful, at least in this take, as there are moments when Luke is merely stopping his sword for no reason without Vader blocking it. They're not matching movements.. The choreography definitely got much tighter by the time of Phantom Menace.
Watching the scene over the years I always thought the dual was too short after it moved out from user the platform. The noticeable issue is that there was so much distance to cover between there and the bridge.
@@detroitcoffeeartdetroit6502I also enjoy longer takes (in any films with fight scenes as well), here it clarifies to me why Vader helplessly just put his hand aside, for me it looked weird on original, like "Okay, now cut my hand", in this deleted scene we can see how Luke hit his lightsaber to create such opening. Plus, as jetuber mentioned, fight is very vicious, I think it suits much much better 'cause it shows the Luke anger, what make his mercy even greater.
he also strikes the railing to his right for seemingly no reason at all, but it almost looks like a rage strike, like bane punching the wall vs batman out of frustration
That deleted clip with Luke smacking Vader in the head then doing the flip, all of that looks closer to the prequel trilogy combat. Wish they kept it AND all the hits he got in towards the end of the duel. Still…. ROTJ end fight is iconic as is.
It's not even a 'fan fiction' - it's a commercial, ugly and dumb. The disney never wanted the Lucasfilm for the ideas or storytelling. They wanted the StarWars to make money. They thought that it was not about Lucas - it was about the robots and wookies and ewoks... and the merchandise... Freaking freaks. The VII-IX are disaster...
There’s also a scene that was cut when Vader is looking for Luke after knocking him down from the platform he finds Luke’s saber cuz he dropped and when he’s tempting him about turning leia to the darkside he’s holding Luke’s lightsaber while his lightsaber is on his waist when looks yells at him he force grabs his lightsaber from vaders grip
Kind of demonstrates lukes lack of formal training with all the irratic swings. He is fighting based on instincts and emotions. Almost like sometimes when you button mash in a game, it throws off the "better" opponent because theyre not used to dealing with the movements.
No. Annakin never had any intention of killing Luke. Anyone with a child will understand how understand how absurd it is to expect someone to fight full force against their child. He only severs Luke's hand to get his attention after patiently enduring attack after attack from Luke
you're right about Luke in the sequels...he should have been the badass that we know from the books and such. Luke was definitely stronger, because he did not fall prey to the Darkside temptation. Not until Mara Jade was killed, anyway And the suit inhibited Vader's speed, really
the disney trilogy werent sequels as it was far too long in Luke's journey that he was unrecognizable. Explaining that departure instead of showing it in a trilogy of its own hurt the story arc so much it made no sense

Before KOTOR, i always thought the green colored saber meant it symbolized Yoda. And that everything Luke was taught by him was the ultimate honor FOR his master. Imagine the Emperor's surprise when Luke's hilt was ignited seeing the green putting two and two together and thinking at that moment if Yoda had taught Luke somehow.

Of course the Disney sequels aren't canon. And for all their talk of saying that they will disregard existing stories as they continue to make content, they sure are tapping into the EU an awful lot since they can't come up with anything original (Thrawn, leia and Hans son turning to the dark side, Palpatine cloning himself new bodies, etc)

It's a way simpler explanation and most likely the true reason it's green.... the blue sky background of the sail barge battle. That reasoning is way more compelling than anything I saw in this video.
Disney killed Disney and what little good there ever was. Maybe not that much. When you really scrutinize them, there has alway been things that shouldn’t be
I feel like everyone discounts how strong Luke had to be to do what he did successfully in The Last Jedi. I don't love how he was handled, but we haven't seen anyone in canon other than maybe Anakin do anything that powerful.
Agreed. Granted Luke momentarily loses it during the final fight with Vader, and that scene is truly chilling to watch, but Luke recovers himself after realizing he is, as Palpatine says, one step away from taking Vaders place.
The way I always read it was that Vader's connection with the force was weak due to his conflict of having to fight his own son, which is why he was so easily defeated. It was never confirmed one way or the other, but I find it hard to believe how someone with only 1 year of real training could become as strong as Vader, who was confirmed stronger than Obi Wan.
Imagine having to duel your only chance at defeating the man behind your ruin. In front of him. Oh, and said chance happens to be your son. Oh, and you’re such a literal mess inside that Grievous looks positively healthy in comparison.
This was also back in the day when George considered Vader a weak cyborg and Ben an old man. Which is why he wanted to show their "prime" in the prequels. Well, Episode 4 Obi-Wan is clearly stronger than Episode 3 Obi-Wan, since he was able to become a Force Ghost at that point. He never cut himself off from the Force, as Disney suggests. He had 19 years of training with Force Ghost Qui-Gon. And Vader might have been 40% of his potential, because of the injuries from Episode 3, but he was still one of the most powerful Force-sensitives in galactic history. He should have been 200% of Sheev but ended up 80% of Sheev, hence 40% of his own potential. It's just that the franchise is so much bigger now. And old Force-sensitives becoming weak contradict the powers of both Yoda and Sheev. If anything, you peak at old age. So, Luke should have lost bigtime. The only explanation is that Vader didn't want to kill him, even as a Sith Lord. Because he needed Luke to help him overthrow Sheev. It might also have been a gradual turn to the light, which means that the love for his son might have eclipsed using him as a tool by the end. Vader was trapped between a rock and a hard place, basically. Killing Luke would have been the ultimate defeat and gained him nothing. Neither as a Sith nor a Jedi.
Exactly. His powers come from rage. But he loved his son. That's why Luke was in a unique position to be the only jedi who could ever defeat Vader. The advantage he had over Obi wan and Ahsoka. He could deny his love for them, but he could not deny his love for his children. Furthermore, Anakin's transition to the dark side, and to becoming Vader, was solidified with the death of Padme. The only thing in the galaxy he cared about was dead. But finding out that a piece of her, her children, was still alive weakened his connection to the dark side. Because it was directly tied to the thing that made his connection so strong in the first place.
The depth of the Star Wars movies, particularly 1 thru 6, never ceases to amaze me. I never made the connection with the signifcance of the different light sabers. Thank you!
HAHAHA! People invent depth where none originally existed. He had a new light saber because he lost the old one. All of this post hock over analysis cracks me up. Keep in mind that Star Wars was a kids movie Partially made to sell toys.
RBG…Red Blue and Green are all primary colors. Combined they make a broad array of colors. Perhaps it symbolizes Lukes struggle between the two sides of the force.
Great video. Allow me to share a little gripe.... I would suggest, to the host and many of his fans, that if you have a great interest in lightsabers, swords and sword fighting, that you find a good fencing club and take some actual fencing lessons. It's one thing to watch a few Star Wars movies and talk about technique, stamina of the fighters, etc. But it's quite another to actually stand on the fencing strip, covered with sweat, and have to figure out the best defense against your opponent in less than the one second it takes for him to close the distance and strike you! Please don't take this as an insult but as encouragement. If you are physically able, try fencing and do some (almost) real sword fighting! You'll also get in great shape. (Yes, I am a fencer myself and have competed in a few tournaments, so I practice what I preach. Star Wars and the Three Musketeers got me interested in fencing many years ago!) 😃
I think there is a huge difference between being the chosen one and being the most powerful. Anakin was powerful, just like Yoda, just like Mace. Through the ages, there have no doubt been a number of very, very powerful force users - just some never realized their full potential through training. And even less powerful force users, with the right level of training and dedication, might present a formidable opponent when using the lightsaber or their force powers. The Jedi had a prophecy of a chosen one who would bring balance to the force - doesn’t mean the chosen one is going to be the “most powerful”. I think we like to put that level of importance on our heroes and villains. It makes good story telling. But there isn’t any reason to believe that Luke couldn’t rise to the level of skill and ability of Vader - especially considering no matter how powerful Anakin might have been, he was still hindered by his injuries and the suit (as you indicate in the video). I wholeheartedly agree that the Luke at the end of ROTJ would never have fallen so far as we see in the most recent trilogy. Bad fan fiction by children who probably never watched the original movies nor bothered to read any books.
I wish they would have kept those extra scenes in the movie. hat would have made the fight even more awesome especially Luke Flipping around while fighting
People often misinterpret Anakin's prophesy of being the chosen one as being the strongest character in Star Wars. When in reality it's that he had the POTENTIAL to be so. This has been explained numerous times that once he became machine his midichlorian count was seriously reduced, yet a lot of newer fans don't seem to understand this. His prophesy of restoring balance to the force was always true, but he only did so by becoming vader and betraying the emperor in the end, not because he was the strongest by that point. When he became Vader he had lost all that great unfortold power he would have had if he matured more as Anakin. As vader, he remained more or less the same in terms of power as when he was Anakin. The dark side brought power, but his suit impaired a lot of things, most importantly further growth. While Anakin is a great character, his greatness as a character is from his writing, and like Hayden Christensen says, his character is actually supposed to be kind of pathetic. While I'm aware that Vader could have killed Luke in ROTJ if he tried, my point is still the same overall.
At the time, and I do remember this clearly is that it was green to make 100% clear that Luke had gained the abilities of a full Jedi Knight, and to indicate he was going to do things differently than Anakin/Vader had. I mean no condescension here, but I see young(er) (not becase age matters, it's the context) fans make is to assume that Lucas had any idea what the next film was going to be about when he shot Star Wars: A New Hope! Darth Vader wasn't yet Anakin Skywalker nor Luke's father! Saying things like "he does x because y" is absurd if you don't first clearly think that EVERYTHING is how it is because Lucas and/or other creators CHOSE it to serve the story! I just see this stuff as people getting lost because they try to make Star Wars consistent or logical as is done in Sci-Fi, instead of understanding that it is a Fantasy piece set in space!
Lucas ret conned a few things both behind the scenes and online. But they definitely changed the color of the blade because it didn't show up well against the blue sky when doing the Sarlacc Pitt fight.
@@ashleighelizabeth5916 and I do remember this clearly... "we all figured the idea is...". I clipped that off, and was trying to say I clearly remembered what we as kids assumed the reasoning was. You are correct as far as I can tell about the lightsaber color, but in terms of story, Vader was neither Anakin a former Jedi, nor Luke's father, and was actually named Darth Vader, rather than that being a Sith title/nom de guerre.
Hello I have never heard anyone talk about this, but have you ever noticed that Vader is holding Luke's lightsaber just before Luke says no, in that final fight scene. I remember reading early on that Luke threw his lightsaber to Vader and said( here father take my lightsaber I will not fight you) then I watch that scene in return of the jedi. And lo and behold Vader is holding Luke's lightsaber. Originally Luke was to use the force to get it away from Vader. Check out the scene. You can clearly see Vader holding the lightsaber
I always love how people try making the "holding back" excuse for Vader even though Luke was holding back just as much if not more, directly stating he didn't want to fight. Not to mention if Vader was actually holding back, I doubt he would've tried killing Luke twice in their duel.
@drksideofthewal Disney canon Vader is absolutely conflicted and nerfed specifically against his son Disney has shown this time and time again. Split-complex numbers relate to the diagonality (like how it's expressed on Anakin's lightsaber) of ring/cylindrical singularities and to why the 6 corner/cusp singularities in dark matter must alternate. Dual numbers relate to Euler's Identity, where the thin mass is cancelling most of the attractive and repulsive forces. The imaginary number is mass in stable particles of any conformation. In Big Bounce physics, dual numbers relate to how the attractive and repulsive forces work together to turn the matter that we normally think of into dark matter. Complex numbers = vertical asymptote. Split-complex numbers = vertical tangent. Dual numbers = vertical line. These algebras can be simply thought of as tensors. Delanges sectrices can be thought of as opposites of vertical asymptotes. Ceva sectrices as opposites of vertical tangents, and Maclaurin sectrices as opposites of vertical lines. The natural logarithm of the imaginary number is pi divided by 2 radians times i. This means that, at whatever point of stable matter other than at a singularity, the attractive or repulsive force being emitted is perpendicular to the "plane" of mass. In Big Bounce physics, this corresponds to how particles "crystalize" into stacks where a central particle is greatly pressured to degenerate by another particle that is in front, another behind, another to the left, another to the right, another on top, and another below. Dark matter is formed quickly afterwards. Ramanujan Infinite Sum (of the natural numbers): during a Big Crunch, the smaller, central black holes, not the dominating black holes, are about a twelfth of the total mass involved. Dark matter has its singularities pressed into existence, while baryonic matter is formed by its singularities. This also relates to 12 stacked surrounding universes that are similar to our own "observable universe" - an infinite number of stacked universes that bleed into each other and maintain an equilibrium of Big Bounce events. i to the i power: the "Big Bang mass", somewhat reminiscent of Swiss cheese, has dark matter flaking off, exerting a spin that mostly cancels out, leaving potential energy, and necessarily in a tangential fashion. This is closely related to what the natural logarithm of the imaginary number represents. Mediants are important to understanding the Big Crunch side of a Big Bounce event. Black holes have locked up, with these "particles" surrounding and pressuring each other. Black holes get flattened into unstable conformations that can be considered fractions, to form the dark matter known from our Inflationary Epoch. Sectrices are inversely related, as they deal with dark matter being broken up, not added like the implosive, flattened "black hole shrapnel" of mediants. Ford circles relate to mediants. Tangential circles, tethered to a line. Sectrices: the families of curves deal with black holes and dark matter. (The Fibonacci spiral deals with how dark matter is degenerated/broken up, with supernovae, and forming black holes. The Golden spiral deals with black holes being flattened into dark matter during a Big Bounce event.) The Archimedean spiral deals with black holes and their spins before and after a reshuffling from cubic to the most dense arrangement, during a Big Crunch. The Dinostratus quadratrix deals with the dark matter being broken up by ripples of energy imparted by outer (of the central mass) black holes, allowing the dark matter to unstack, and the laminar flow of dark matter (the Inflationary Epoch) and dark matter itself being broken up by lingering black holes. Delanges sectrices (family of curves): dark matter has its "bubbles" force a rapid flaking off - the main driving force of the Big Bang. Ceva sectrices (family of curves): spun up dark matter breaks into primordial black holes and smaller, galactic-sized dark matter and other, typically thought of matter. Maclaurin sectrices (family of curves): dark matter gets slowed down, unstable, and broken up by black holes. Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing". Little wing = Maclaurin sectrix. Butterflies = Ceva sectrix. Zebras = Dinostratus quadratrix. Moonbeams = Delanges sectrix. Jimi was experienced and "tricky". Jimi was commenting on dark matter. How it could be destabilized by being slowed down, spun up, broken up by lingering black holes, or flaked off. (The Delanges trisectrix also corresponds to stable atomic nuclei.) Dark matter, on the stellar scale, are broken up by supernovae. Our solar system was seeded with the heavier elements from a supernova. I'm happily surprised to figure out sectrices. Trisectrices are another thing. More complex (algebras) and I don't know if I have all the curves available to use in analyzing them. I have made some progress, but have more to discern. I can see Fibonacci spirals relating to the trisectrices. The Clausen function of order 2: black holes and rarified singularities are becoming more and more commonplace. Doyle's constant for the potential energy of a Big Bounce event: 21.892876 Also known as e to the (e + 1/e) power. At the eth root of e, the black holes are stacked as densely as possible. I suspect Ramanujan's Infinite Sum connects a reshuffling from the solution to the Basel problem and a transfer of mass to centralized black holes. Other than the relatively small amount of kinetic energy of black holes being flattened into dark matter, the only energy is potential energy, then: 1 (squared)/(e to the e power), dark matter singularities have formed and thus with the help of Ramanujan, again, create "bubbles", leading to the Big Bang part of the Big Bounce event. My constant is the chronological ratio of these events. This ratio applies to potential energy over kinetic energy just before a Big Bang event. Methods of arbitrary angle trisection: Neusis construction relates to how dark matter has its corner/cusp singularities create "bubbles", driving a Big Bang event. Repetitious bisection relates to dark matter spinning so violently that it breaks, leaving smaller dark matter, primordial black holes, and other more familiar matter, and to how black holes can orbit other black holes and then merge. It also relates to how dark matter can be slowed down. Belows method (similar to Sylvester's Link Fan) relates to black holes being locked up in a cubic arrangement just before a positional jostling fitting with Ramanujan's Infinite Sum. General relativity: 8 shapes, as dictated by the equation? 4 general shapes, but with a variation of membranous or a filament? Dark matter mostly flat, with its 6 alternating corner/cusp edge singularities. Neutrons like if a balloon had two ends, for blowing it up. Protons with aligned singularities, and electrons with just a lone cylindrical singularity? Prime numbers in polar coordinates: note the missing arms and the missing radials. Matter spiraling in, degenerating? Matter radiating out - the laminar flow of dark matter in an Inflationary Epoch? Corner/cusp and ring/cylinder types of singularities. Connection to Big Bounce theory? "Operation -- Annihilate!", from the first season of the original Star Trek: was that all about dark matter and the cosmic microwave background radiation? Anakin Skywalker connection?
People hate the idea that Luke defeated Vader straight up because of how the prequels portrays things, but it was always the intent to show that Luke had become Vader’s equal. Luke didn’t want to kill Vader throughout the beginning of the duel but had the advantage throughout. The way it makes the most sense is that Yoda trained Luke in a fashion specifically designed to defeat Vader because that was the goal. When Jedi were trained at the temple, they were given generic lightsaber training and it was not focused on defeating a specific opponent. Where Luke would have been trained in this manner.
@@eurologic there are a lot of fandumb people who can't handle Luke's rate of growth. To be perfectly honest it is borderline gary stu, but there is sufficient justification in the narrative to prevent that classification. Barely.
@@raidenn6266 the prequels provide that justification, imo. We see how Luke is literally the son of the Chosen One. We see how the Jedi slow down and hold back Anakin's growth. We hear how Anakin focused on lightsabers over the Force to his detriment, because he is coasting on his innate connection to the Force. And most importantly we see how Anakin becomes a cripple. Without Mustafar, Luke would have needed a lifetime to catch up to Vader. But because Vader's growth was hard-capped (to 40% according to Lucas' interviews) Luke (who is written as a monstrous prodigy in terms of learning ability) was able to catch up.
They are NOT LAZER SWORDS! They are supposed to be some type of plasma. Additionally, George Lucas dumped the word lazer and used light saber. It was Rian Johnson, director of "The "Last Jedi" who called the light saber lazer sword, another reason to hate that movie.
Luke using laser sword in that scene was actually perfect. He's being derisive and scornful and using a less elegant term for a light saber in an almost mocking way. This is called good writing.
It was pretty clear that he overpowered Vader by tapping into the Dark Side. It was only when he heard Palpatine laugh because of that fact that he came back to himself and realized that he was in danger of becoming just like his father.
The saber color was changed because Lucas removed the scene where Luke built his new one and he wanted to MAKE SURE that people knew it was a diffrent one. So people can have the theories they want, when the guy who wrote the movie tells you why he changed it, that's the answer
Lucas has ret conned more than a few lore and behind the scenes details over the years. Don't assume that just because he said it 10 years later that's why the decision was made way back in the early 80s.
I several of those shots (towards the "defeat" scene) it looks like Mark Hamil is hitting Dave Prowse (or Bob Anderson)'s prop blade so hard that it's rebounding off the vader costume helmet. I'm sure that didn't feel nice at the time
Neither of them wanted to kill the other, but the being conflicted would surely mess with Vader more because all the dark side emotions would be missing (hate, anger atc), whereas it wouldn't unbalance Luke as a light side user in the same way.
Proving the Riemann hypothesis: Moments after a Big Bang, dual numbers to be considered at the origin, repulsive and gravitational forces are balanced, but dark matter is breaking up. "Dual numbers?", you might ask. Isn't that the square root of zero? (Actually, it's a great way to start a proof that ends with division by zero - a vertical line, and it corresponds to what I call Doyle's constant that deals with a brief window in time starting with taking the eth root of e and ending with a vertical line. Delanges sectrices for the unflaking of dark matter, Archimedean spiral for spinning up dark matter, Ceva sectrices for that dark matter breaking into smaller, primordial dark matter and black holes, Dinostratus quadratrix for impacting surrounding black holes, and Maclaurin sectrices for dark matter being slowed down over time. Split-complex at one, noting the more gravitational nature of diagonal ring/cylinder singularities of baryonic matter from broken dark matter. Using repetitious bisection (from arbitrary angle trisection), one gets added (SSA) for when dark matter dominates a universe and one gets added for when black holes and rarified singularities make things more gravitational, leading to a Big Crunch. At 2 = a Big Crunch, the solution to the Basel problem, and the "bellows method" drives things. A Big Crunch event needs the net gravity from the localized area AND gravitational effects from surrounding universes. The 2 represents how locked up black holes are making a stacking, planar contact. Everything else are harmonics - effects on surrounding universes. I see this proof as like trying to climb a steep cliff with the process of dark matter breaking up, getting to the top of the hill (like stable atomic nuclei) and then skiing down the "hill of many black holes" past an inflection point where black hole formation and spaghettification happens, leading to the final vertical line tensor of the Maclaurin trisectrix. This is much like I have posted about considering the recursive form of Euler's Identity as being like an old incandescent light bulb that you can see having first, second, and third degree critical points. Ramanujan's Infinite Sum of negative one-twelfth: each positional jostling, mass, and gravitational/attractive exchange between universes (defined by Big Bounce events, considering Ramanujan during both Big Crunch and Big Bang sides) ADDS up to evenness (or a partner in marriage - like half of the whole, I guess). Net gravity increases over time from the breaking up of dark matter, much like a vertical asymptote. It continues to increase, but hits a critical point, much like a vertical tangent, when enough dark matter has weakened and been broken up into the more net gravitational baryonic matter (split-complex numbers). Then, the effects of gravity reach their upper limit - much like a vertical line - at e to the negative e power (where black holes have been flattened). Over a decade ago, I said that the potential energy of a Big Bang was 1/6 times (the speed of light, cubed). If I had said Big Bounce instead, I would have been correct, in a sense. Now, I see how the speed of light would have to be the fourth power.

I think Luke only beat Vader because Vader was emotionally conflicted be he didn’t want to kill his son, that and because Luke had tapped into his rage, Luke and Vader are equals and yet Luke has not reached Vader’s skill
While I’m not sure if James Kahn’s official novelisation was wholly based on the screenplay for Return of the Jedi, I do remember purchasing it close to the films release back in ‘83 & there are several references in the book to the fact that Luke’s new lightsaber is green.
Luke is the growing most powerful Jedi that ever lived pre 1999 phantom menace retconning from Lucas. He was the center of the story until the prequels changed everything
So uh...castration is NOT the correct term. Luke's hand was removed, not his testicles. You're looking for disfigured, seriously injured, amputation, or wounded as an appropriate term.
Luke being equally as powerful as Vader is canon in my eyes, although Yoda did not have time to teach Luke about force lightning, that’s why Luke couldn’t block it with his lightsaber or hands
Although it would have been smart if Yoda had told Luke, "discard your lightsaber do not. Your life this weapon is. Against the Emperor defenseless do not leave yourself". It's honestly one of the stupidest things I've ever seen and completely unnecessary for drama. Palpatine could have likely yanked the thing right out of his hand if he wanted but at least Luke wouldn't have liked such a Newb.
I still would like to believe the reason for the colour change was due to how Jedi with certain colour lightsabers represent what they were: blue for knights who’d use their lightsaber more and green for peacekeepers who’d use the power of the force more than their lightsaber. Perfect examples: Qui Gon Jin and Obi Wan Kenobi.
Yeah that's a nice lore retcon. Just like the fact that Mace had a purple lightsaber because he tapped into both sides of the Force when he was fighting. But in truth Vader had a red blade in the beginning to contrast with the blue sabers of Obi Wan and Luke and Luke had a green saber in ROTJ because it didn't show up well against blue sky in the Sarlacc Pit fight. You can pick any lore you want to indicate why he has a green blade in Universe. It's still just a retcon to explain something required by the practical effects of the time.
That green saber luke crafted WAS Qui-Gon's; ObiWan had his masters saber since darth maul was sliced in half and fell down the shaft. Luke found it in ObiWan's tattonie adobe.
I think there might be a little bit of confusion here. Anakin is literally a son of the Force. The Force is literally his father. He would have therefore been the most powerful Force user that ever lived because the Force gave him his life. His potential wasn't limited by the life support system that he wore as Darth Vader. That's why the people who didn't like The Phantom Menace didn't say enough attention to it to understand the lore. The miti-chlorians in a person's blood connected him to the Force, and Anakin had a LOT of it in him. But his arms and legs were amputated, and THAT is what clipped his connection to the Force. Miti-chlorians don't exist in bionic arms and legs. Luke's parents are both human, and his connection to the Force can't be as strong as Anakin's. In Return of the Jedi, Luke's power was equal only to Anakin's very greatly diminished power. Vader's success at this time was only because there was no Jedi Order to stop him, and that Order would have EASILY put Vader down if it was still around. Obi-Wan Kenobi's power was greater than Vader's, for example, which is why Vader was always unable to defend himself against Kenobi, even on the day that Kenobi threw his duel with Vader for Luke's sake. In Return of the Jedi, when Luke's power was equal to Vader's diminished power, both were still MUCH LESS POWERFUL than Kenobi was when he gave up his life.
Lucas did that with Return of the Jedi and the crappy Prequels. Sure tge sequels are differently crappy but Andor and Rogue One are good. Heck I even like the solo film. Some of the TV shows wipe the floor with the PT and ST
I had read, after ROTJ came out, that the reason Luke’s lightsaber is blue on the poster art was because Lucas wanted the green color to be a surprise when Luke ignites it for the first time after R2 shoots it off to him.
3:00 Sorry to disappoint but every duel I’ve had with a family member has been so personal to the point where we don’t give a shit if we hit fingers, fair play at that point by our rules
Keep in mind at the time Luke fought Vader he had what maybe a few months of training from a senile Yoda and a week of lessons from obi-wan, were as Vader had 30 years of training from both the emperor and the old Jedi order as well as actual experience from the clone wars, so the fact Luke was just as powerful is crazy
As a guy who fixes stuff, cats, household stuff… I’m so annoyed Luke never fixed his damn hand. Sure, originally there wasn’t time but afterwards? Wearing a glove is like driving with plastic covering a broken window. Fix your damn prosthetic man!
I would have thought that pretty much nobody would be able to surpass Anakin since he was the chosen one. Others, like Luke and Leia, can come kind of close, but not up there, if he was able to reach his full potential, since he was the only one born from the Force. But since Anakin never reached his full potential, Luke would have the highest amount of potential, as well as Leia. When Luke and Vader fought for the 2nd time, I had thought they were more or less equal, too, since Luke doesn't struggle with him nearly as much, as actually looks like he has the edge a few times, like when he countered all of Vader's moves and even kicked him down. Thankfully, we did see him use his potential and he was extremely strong in the EU, but sadly, Disney didn't get to show that. Even Leia did more lightsaber fighting in the EU and she had a red lightsaber at one point.
I was 8 years old when Jedi opened in 1983. I remember talking with my father: "Dad, I haven't eaten dinner. . . You'll eat popcorn and soda . . . I've just started my homework. . . . I don't care, get in the car." It was beyond worth it, and 42 years later, Jedi still has a place in my heart.
But he did become the most powerful Jedi; in all those "..novels and comic books" that ruinous Kathleen Kennedy said didn't exist before the sequels. 🤦🏾♂
George Lucas ABSOLUTELY changed the Saber to green because it didn't show up well on Tatoonie. There is a video out there with Lucas saying so. Luke would NEVER have been as Powerful as Anakin would have become. It wasn't the suit alone that restricted Anakin it was his grievous injuries first and foremost.
May asks a question why are we so harsh on the sequel trilogy abuse behind the scenes when Lucas film and disney harsh and difficult to work with and all the star wars movies and shows animated or not had the writers and actors work and through hell to still get treated bad all the actors and writers etc deserved better treatment and Kindness. 😢

I’m not reading all of that crap

You just reaffirmed why lukes second saber is so important and unique in the story of the orginal trilogy. It is symbolic of the journey from boy to man and the tranformation of Luke into his own person.
When Rei gives Luke his lightsaber back, it's actually the blue one that he lost to Vader. That's why he carelessly tossed it aside.
@@michaelmccandless1280 I kind of wish that was given a bit more context, maybe him saying: "This isn't really mine"
Of course, it's better to show than tell, but TLJ had high expectations to live up to, which it failed to match at the time, plenty of Star Wars fans were looking for some nit-picking. I doubt the writers of TLJ thought very far ahead for the intro scene like you though. They just decided it because: "Let's subvert some expectations because why not"

Kind of demonstrates lukes lack of formal training with all the irratic swings. He is fighting based on instincts and emotions. Almost like sometimes when you button mash in a game, it throws off the "better" opponent because theyre not used to dealing with the movements.

Agreed. Granted Luke momentarily loses it during the final fight with Vader, and that scene is truly chilling to watch, but Luke recovers himself after realizing he is, as Palpatine says, one step away from taking Vaders place.
2:28 That's why you here
The way I always read it was that Vader's connection with the force was weak due to his conflict of having to fight his own son, which is why he was so easily defeated.
He was definitely conflicted but it is also meant to emphasize that Luke has become so much better
It was longer than 1 year between episode 4 and 5 and longer than a year between episode 5 and 6.

Loved the deleted scenes. Great video once again. 👍
This was just a 3minute ad 😭

He did become in better times...in legends

(The Delanges trisectrix also corresponds to stable atomic nuclei.)
Dark matter, on the stellar scale, are broken up by supernovae.
Doyle's constant for the potential energy of a Big Bounce event: 21.892876
Also known as e to the (e + 1/e) power.
Nobody hates the idea Luke whoops Vader in ROTJ. What are you smoking?

We see how Luke is literally the son of the Chosen One. We see how the Jedi slow down and hold back Anakin's growth. We hear how Anakin focused on lightsabers over the Force to his detriment, because he is coasting on his innate connection to the Force.
And most importantly we see how Anakin becomes a cripple. Without Mustafar, Luke would have needed a lifetime to catch up to Vader. But because Vader's growth was hard-capped (to 40% according to Lucas' interviews) Luke (who is written as a monstrous prodigy in terms of learning ability) was able to catch up.
God, I wish they had left that footage in. Thank you for sharing that
They are NOT LAZER SWORDS! They are supposed to be some type of plasma. Additionally, George Lucas dumped the word lazer and used light saber. It was Rian Johnson, director of "The "Last Jedi" who called the light saber lazer sword, another reason to hate that movie.
Always pisses me of when I hear people call them that.
Luke using laser sword in that scene was actually perfect. He's being derisive and scornful and using a less elegant term for a light saber in an almost mocking way. This is called good writing.
I neverthought Luke tapped into theDark Side to defeat Vader. He simply stopped holding back.
It was pretty clear that he overpowered Vader by tapping into the Dark Side. It was only when he heard Palpatine laugh because of that fact that he came back to himself and realized that he was in danger of becoming just like his father.
2:10 ummmm. Check the definition of "castrate" and consider this a learning experience.
I'm sure that didn't feel nice at the time
It's the same reason they didn't have a Blue Squadron in the Death Star run, because they used blue screen special effects.
Yup, and the blue saber just didn't show up against the pure blue sky in the Sarlacc Pitt fight.
Neither of them wanted to kill the other, but the being conflicted would surely mess with Vader more because all the dark side emotions would be missing (hate, anger atc), whereas it wouldn't unbalance Luke as a light side user in the same way.
There's a lot of really good moves in there. But it's very obvious that David Prowse or Bob Anderson cannot see Mark Hamill.
Can we get the extended directors cut of the 6 movies?
Would make sense since every other film has a directors cut

Luke is the growing most powerful Jedi that ever lived pre 1999 phantom menace retconning from Lucas. He was the center of the story until the prequels changed everything
So uh...castration is NOT the correct term. Luke's hand was removed, not his testicles. You're looking for disfigured, seriously injured, amputation, or wounded as an appropriate term.
Luke being equally as powerful as Vader is canon in my eyes, although Yoda did not have time to teach Luke about force lightning, that’s why Luke couldn’t block it with his lightsaber or hands
It certainly was, both obi wan and yoda hinged on Luke killing vader, and had both expected and trained him to specifically be able to do it
Although it would have been smart if Yoda had told Luke, "discard your lightsaber do not.
Are SWA sabers any good? There are so many saber makers out there, it's exhausting to try and figure out which is best.
They’re way better than good
I personally bought a few of them and would have to say they are by far the best of my collection. Not even a close second IMO

Have to say it. 'Castrated' has a very specific meaning. And that's a deleted scene I'm not interested in seeing.
I had read, after ROTJ came out, that the reason Luke’s lightsaber is blue on the poster art was because Lucas wanted the green color to be a surprise when Luke ignites it for the first time after R2 shoots it off to him.

They would have had to travel for a long time, to a galaxy far, far away to achieve that.
