Cooling performance on gaming laptops degrades over time. Check for dust build up and dry thermal paste. I recently got rid of CPU throttling & system crashes by renewing my thermal paste. I used SYY 157 paste & managed to drop mean temperatures by 5%

thank you brother, this is really really helpful. I have an acer nitro 5 an515-57 with i5-11400h and gtx 1650 and my cpu runs 92C while gaming all the time (max fan)

@omen i didnt do it myself lol, i bring it to warranty and they repaste and clean the laptop, i have never reached 90C without max fan since then. You should do it bc 100C is very concerning

@omen it is recommended to go to stores but it is up to you, just make sure that they are reliable

@@Certifiedl3unnyhey the guy you replying comments just go deleted or just gone lol, i wanna ask how often do you need to change it? One a year? And if you do it on a warranty store could you do it multiple times or just once with the warranty card thing. I just bought my first ever laptop so kinda scare and want to be careful 😂

On the CPU and GPU cores I suggest applying Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change material, and instead of thermal pads give thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro Ultra and finally on the CPU and GPU do undervolting at -100mV or more if it will be stable, disable or reduce the frequency of the CPU in turbo boost, because for most games high clocking is unnecessary. It will be more power, quieter, cooler and less power will be drawn from the wall socket.

i am regretting after repasting thermal paste in my new msi bravo 15. stock was much better on full stresss gpu 87, cpu 90 deg in summer.. here room temperature in summer is 40-47deg.. after replacing new paste which is C14 sub zero with 13.6wmk value.. gpu goes 91 cpu goes 95. i am in trauma now.

so my alienware 17 from 2013 is the one im still using to play my games ( time for a new one i know )
in theory, should thermal paste be inspected if its still good or not? or just wing it.
tbh i have never ever opened the thing up to clean it or take dust out and lately it does tend to get warm enough that i burn my legs when its on my lap.
not that i plan on opening it up to change the paste since im in the process of looking for a new laptop but its good to know wether i should inspect it or not after a while of using the thing.

I have the same exact laptop, I just replaced my arctic mx-6 with honeywell ptm7950 and my cpu temp when playing Fortnite are around 79 degrees. My temp with mx-6 was , 85-90 degrees, and then after a 1-2 weeks it starts to pump out.

Depends on usesage, brand of paste. Can check thermals. Throttling. Or if you know how to do it.. it will only take 30minutes

the stock thermal paste should get dried up by 3 years.
