    You need to mention that every time you go inside your PC you should unplug all external devices, like the monitor, printer, and so on, and then drain any static charges inside the computer by pressing and holding the power button for at least 20 seconds. You should also ground any static charges on your body by touching the metal frame of the PC for a few seconds, and ideally use an anti-static strap connecting your wrist to the frame before touching anything inside the computer, otherwise you risk damaging sensitive components.

      Getting rid of all the peripherals is a good idea but getting rid of static is a bit overkill. Unless you rubbing your feet on carpet while working on your pc I’ll doubt it’ll be a problem

      And thats why my computer broke, none of them told me to shut my computer down while unplugging or plugging in new ram. Now my pc doesnt want to connect to my monitor and js shows no signal.

      I know to do that but man I haven’t found one damn video that tells people to do that! Smh. Thankfully I know a lil bout electrical stuff and just computers stuff in general. Plus every mobo manual says to do that but videos like this have prolly costed plenty of people a pretty penny. Creators need to remember that some people are slow af

    Thank you for the video. I replaced the CMOS battery yesterday but when I started up my computer it had this series of beeps then the screen stayed black. I unplugged it then when I started it up again windows started but nothing came up asking me about the BIOS or CMOS. Do I need to do anything else?

    TLDR: My computer wouldn't boot up and replacing the CMOS battery fixed it!
    In case anyone else has the same problem I had, my computer (it's old) would not boot for nothing. I switched out the power supply (wasn't it), replaced the power switch cable since I'd had an error message for that (wasn't it), and bought a new motherboard and was about to swap that when I learned about the CMOS battery. I replaced it, plugged it in, and the power supply kicked on and off repeatedly a few times until it finally stayed on, and the computer booted up all by itself. I didn't even press the power button. I was in complete shock that it fixed it. I did not have to remove anything to access the battery. I thought for sure I'd have to remove the graphics card but when it was not coming out, I decided to try to do it without removing the graphics card. I used needle-nosed pliers to squeeze the tab & release the battery and it popped out. No problem.

      One more thing, I never changed the BIOS settings so them resetting wasn't an issue.

      It's a very similar process. You should be able to find a disassembly video on TH-cam for that.

    Will it work for my problem? I have an old HP pavilion XT963 Windows XP PC Desktop. I am trying to turn it into a Linux, but the problem is some of the f keys for the bios of the F12 are missing, and it will not boot from both a burned disk and USB some reason, it won't respond. Can anyone help me?

    • @supersaiyangplays7842
      @supersaiyangplays7842 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't know how much use this reply still is. But yes you can do that. And have you tried pressing the del key to go into bios? That should work as well as F12.

      @magnaknight9252 If it turns on its not your psu(power supply) or motherboard. If you manage to get into bios you can select where you want your pc to boot from. You can overrule it's default settings so it has no choice but to use the usb to launch. What does the pc say when you boot it up? Or does it just stay on a black screen?

      @magnaknight9252 go to bios, to the security tab and find the row that says "unlock setup" or something similar. Then there's a line where you can type the admin password. You probably locked it behind that. Should fix it.

    I got some batteries from the store. They are not cr2032 but CR2016 3V do these work

    • @TheEasyWay
      @TheEasyWay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      CR2016 batteries are thinner and have a lower capacity compared to CR2032 batteries. Don't recommend using them but it may work in a pinch
