@@donniedarko4497 wow that is so cheap must be a regional thing . I just looked and it shows $63.74 but might be because I live close to Miami everything is expensive.
Iv had my X a couple of days now and I can firmly say I love it, had the oled before but it never really did it for me, the higher resolution and performance of the ally x has blown me away.
@null-Oh-6666 I use mine to do pc grinding at work. I work in a laboratory, and whenever the samples are loaded on to, let's say, an AU 700, it's anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours. That's when I do all the really boring stuff like mining. You're not allowed to walk away from the analyser either it might need you to press a button or refill reagents.
@null-Oh-6666 The switch is awesome for sure. I mean, it literally jumped this whole thing off whenever sone killed the Vita. If I had to sum it um in one work, it would be STEAM. steam sales are absolutely insane and they have basically all software, not just games wanna edit videos NP. Wanna make your own video game download Godot. They even have music 🎶
Pro Tip: For my gamepad and desktop controller profiles I set a macro in armory crate so that my M1 + L stick click = Alt+F4. Immediately closes games/programs and can help with game crashes.
If you have primarily Steam games on Windows, one thing I've done is set Steam to boot at start silently and minimized. You tell Steam itself in its settings to not launch automatically, change the startup location to library, navigate to startup folder (Win + R, shell:startup) then create a shortcut to steam with the following attributes: -nochatui -nofriendsui -silent Then your Ally X starts in Amory Crate and Steam will start in the background, launch a game and it is a much nicer experience.
I’ve been seeing the praise of the Ally X. I sold my oled and my OG ally and my Ally X will be ready for pickup in a couple days. Ally X objectively is the best and currently has the opportunity to be even better heading into the future.
Once I got my Ally X this past Tuesday, I cracked it open, ripped out the puny 1tb M.2 and installed a WD SN850X 4tb M.2 I had laying around. Then I installed Bazzite and after finagling around with the OS and installing my favorite apps, I have started installing my favorite games. I haven't tested anything as of yet, just checked for dead pixels and re-calibrating the gamepad controls. Once I see that all my games are running fine, it's on to installing Emudeck and the roms for the systems I would like to play.
Does your WD have heatsink or not? I got the same 4 TB 850 model without the heat sync and the performance seems worse on my ally now than it did before on the original Ally ssd.
@@darth_dunedain106 Yes I put a heatsink on the M.2. I didn't put one on the 2280 I put in my OG Ally and it didn't having any overheating issues but I was always swapping back and forth between it and the Steam Deck and never played for any longer than a couple hours to see if the M.2 would cause a meltdown.
@Phanbot01 do you think it's possible mine has heat issues? I am just using the shield that was on the original ssd. I followed Joey's Retro Handhelds video. Do I need an additional heat sink?
@@darth_dunedain106 If you're not experiencing any heat related issues, I would say no. But if it's really something that worries you, go for it, the shields are cheap and I used it since I had it laying around when I forgot to use it on the OG Ally.
Another Tip: type in search Change user account control. And choose either the 3rd down or the 4rd down. What that’s gonna do is it’s not gonna make your screen go black or go out of focus whenever you got to press yes or no on admin privileges question. Some games can glitch out or crash when that happens and this will prevent that. The 4th one will turn off the yes or No questions all together which I don’t really recommend unless your diligent in researching everything you press making sure you don’t do something that will give a virus privileges on your PC.
I’m looking at getting the AllyX over Black Friday. It’s currently $1600aud or equivalent to around $1100USD in Australia so that’s way more than I’m willing to spend but it looks like a great handheld.
With the CPU Boost, I noticed with my laptop that it makes the device overcompensate, leading to performance issues, which is ironic considering what it is meant to do...
Since I installed Bazzite on my X I haven't reach my Steam deck and that's something I thought wasn't gonna happened until the next steam deck. I'm dual booting, 200gb for linux, 200gb for windows and a third partition where I'm putting all my games and roms, this way both system can share the same games and avoid the low speed on the sd cards. But honestly haven't go to windows other than checking for bios updates.
@@ManuDiaz06 you install game use bazite and chose 3rd partition folder, when open in windows, game install with bazite is okay? I just want understand how it work
@KejeMudohBlako partition the drive into 3, one is gonna be Bazzite, the other one windows and 3rd will be storage. In bazzite, you have to set steam to add a new steam folder and install whatever you want. Same deal in windows, set in steam a new steam folder which is gonna be the already existing folder on that third drive, and since you should have already games on that drive, steam will automatically change the status from install to Play.

It's a shame how lesser the gyro implementation is in comparison to the Steam Deck. I wish it had the same capacitive touch analog sticks as the Deck and it registered itself as a dualsense or something, so we could customise its gyro directly in steam, instead. Same with the back grip buttons, I could be wrong, but I don't think you can customise those directly in Steam. I believe installing Bazzite fixes both of those issues, which is another testament to how much better of an OS SteamOS/Bazzite is over Windows. Regardless, still a good device, and I think 80watt battery should now be the standard, until we get more power efficient mobile x86 chips
I was really on the fence, and I truly love my SD, however, the dual boot setup with Bazzite sold me. I did everything yesterday and I’m blown away how much better I feel about this purchase 😂
@metasprite5648 The original Ally got to about 40-50 % in 30 mins with a 65w charger BUT the battery is smaller. Since the battery on the X is bigger it'd take a but longer to charge it. The 100w charger will give it the same charging time as the OG Ally so 40-50% in 30 mins with 100w.
Pay for the Patreon sub for Emudeck, its worth it for the game mod alone that lets you boot into Steam Big Picture Mode as you default UI, making it like the Steamdeck, then if you quit steam, it loads up the normal windows GUI, like switching the steamdeck to desktop mode. For me this is like having a Steamdeck with vastly superior game compatibility. Yeah you can do it yourself, but I just find this less hassle for less than the cost of a coffee shop coffee each month. The only real downside I find is the volume buttons don't work, but on my Ally X and Legion Go, I just use the side menu to do it instead.
I cant for the life of me get the proper controls to work on games that support controllers, everything is fully updated as well. I have tried launching from AC. Im going to try my luck with a cloud recovery and hopefully things will be better.
