@@CZFanGrrl I just got a shadow 2 orange and am looking at simple mods. Do you know any? Also, I just changed the spring for the hammer but don't really feel a difference. Is it supposed to change the trigger pull for the DA only?
@Derek of All Trades Congrats on your Orange! From what I can remember from my buddies gun, the Orange has pretty much been tuned up at the factory, barrel bushing, comp parts, etc. Keep in mind the factory needs to sell the gun so that it’ll work with the hardest primers, S&B which is most readily available in Eastern Europe. A lighter main spring can drop down both DA and SA. The most obvious is going to be your DA. I can get my SA down to 1.25lb using a tuned 8# Eemann Tech mainspring, but it will only set off Federal Primers. A 9# Eemann Tech mainspring will set off all primers and give me about 6 lb DA and 2.5 lb SA. Upgrade grips to Lok Grips, huge improvement over the aluminum. The Springer Precision Magazine brake is another upgrade over the stock, but I wouldn’t use it running a mag well. I think all the important bits have been prepolished at the factory. If they haven’t that’s always a nice thing to do unless you plan on action polishing the gun through a high round count. One of the smoothest guns I ever handled was a high round count CZ 85C Combat. Pretty slick. Running an 11# main spring in it was the same as a 9# mainspring in my less used Shadow 2. Also you can reduce your recoil spring to 10# but you really want to base that on the loads you’re running. Enjoy your gun!
Great video! But, I cringed Everytime that hammer hit your bare frame! Just a heads up that's no bueno. You can definitely crack your frame, Will most likely void your warranty as well. Reassemble the slide, then check your pull.
David Rodriguez Cringe away my friend, I cringe every time a guy tells me what to do. The hammer will not crack the frame, it’s a Delrin hammer and the Delrin molds itself to whatever it strikes. Besides I’m hitting the aluminum mag well, which would have deformed long before the frame has an opportunity to crack, if there was any risk of damage to the metal. I’m a metalsmith and if I for one moment was worried that I might be doing damage, I wouldn’t be doing it. Work hardening of metal takes a lot more than a few blows with a “plastic” hammer to get to the point of metal fatigue and failure. Nice try though!
@@CZFanGrrl He actually meant "dropping the hammer" on the bare frame, i.e., pulling the trigger, not hitting the gun with the Delrin hammer. (Hopefully someone else pointed this out long before I saw your video!)
@garysmith1157 Lol, thanks, yeah that’s a realy old video. That was a one off, got caught up in the moment (and still very new to gunsmithing). No harm to the gun. Thanks for the commenting. I had to watch a video on the SP-01 to get myself started.
No hammer was used in this video to disassemble, Your comment from David Rodriguez was regarding you pulling the trigger and having your hammer drop hitting your frame of your gun instead of hitting the slide it is intended to bottom out on. You really should not pull the trigger if the slide is not there bare frame is not intended to take the impact of the metal hammer. I’ve done it before to and just noticed that now, you were talking about a mallet and he was talking about your hammer of your Cz. hehe great video though and great taste have a shadow 2 my self and nothing shoots like it, true sniper of pistols.
@@antoniostodomingo276 I’m running Eemann Tech springs in my guns. 8# main and 10# recoil. Works like a champ with my reloads. If running harder primers CCI or Campro step it up to a 9#. You won’t feel much difference in the pull over all.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video. I am a new owner of a Shadow 2 optics ready and will only be using it to plink around at the shooting range. I notice that this video is over a year old and that you are still experimenting with cutting springs etc. so I thought to ask you your advice. I just want to do minor modifications in order to lighten the trigger pull, nothing complicated, is the 8.5 lb hammer spring (white) and the extended firing pin with the reduced power firing spring still the configuration that you would advise or have you found a better combination?
@Scott Griffin Thank you for commenting! Yes, a lot has changed! The 8.5# CGW spring is gone and I’ve installed an 8# Eemann Tech which has had 4 coils cut from it, a reduced power trigger return spring and a competition disconnector have been installed, along with a reduced power trigger bar spring, extended firing pin and reduced power firing pin spring. But if you’re looking for something quick and easy to reduce the trigger, the 8.5# CGW will do the job. The stock trigger is heavy but it’s crisp and breaks cleanly. So there’s really not much you need to do to it if you’re plinking with it. If you go that light with the 8.5#, you’ll only be able to use Federal Primers and might need to put in an extended firing pin. An 11.5# main spring will also lighten things up. Let me know if you need any other help with this. Sorry I didn’t respond sooner, our fridge bought the farm yesterday and new one was just begging delivered when I started my reply to you!
If I use a 11.5 mainspring or lower for example 10 or 9. Is it enough to use a lighter firing pin spring on the regular firing pin or is an extended firing pin necessary?
With an 11.5lb spring you won’t need the extended. Anything lower than that and you will need the extended. You may also need to use Federal ammunition or primers, however I did find that I could set off Ginex primers.
kimber1911 Thank you! I always remove the magazine brake first, otherwise there’s a lot of tension from the main spring plug on the brake. So I remove the pins that hold the brake in, remove the brake (easily) and then the plug pops out readily once the brake is off. When reinstalling I install the brake last and then the roll pin finally to hold the plug in place to the frame. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Serious question. Why would you want to reduce the DA pull when the shadow 2 is already an SAO to begin with? It doesn't have a decocker to make it into a D/A. I have 3 shadow 2's and a TSO and they all have a stock trigger because the trigger is already super good and SAO only.

Check out my video on reducing the DA on the Shadow 2.
The regular DA/SA Shadow 2 has kind of a long reach to the trigger in DA, so there's a practical benefit with SAO to reduce reach to trigger. This is more applicable to people who are smaller and/or have shorter fingers.

Finally...um...never pull the trigger and drop the hammer without the slide first mounted. Ever.
