I've been getting into the prepping ideology for about 6 months now, and you have made a huge impact on the way I go about my planning. Your videos are extremely informative and useful, and I hope you continue releasing them. I plan to post a few of my own soon (I hope you won't mind me using some of your suggestions...credit will be given) and I hope to hear your thoughts on what I have been working on. Thanks again.
LOL! Those energy shots are for late night drives home when I feel like I am going to fall asleep. I don’t use them very often (once or twice when really needed). Oh. I thought you already knew: the coffee has been long gone for about a year now. Delicious! The Cajun spice is in my regular rotation of spices. It’s used often in soups and during BBQ’s. Thank you so much for those! I hope all is going well.
Thanks for watching my videos! I am glad that you enjoy them. I will sometimes carry both, although Mrs. UP usually likes to carry the Daddy Diaper Bag now. I would probably keep the EDC Backpack in the car and carry the Diaper Bag with me if given the choice. I think you should go with the Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack for your EDC/Diaper Bag Hybrid. That's what my wife chooses to do. You could store plenty of the baby supplies in the back concealed carry pocket (diapers, changing pad, wipes).
This is probably the best description of an EDC that I've ever watched (and I've watched many). Thanks for the pdf, much easier than trying to go back and watch the video over and over to make a list of what you have. The miny bags for each set of items is a great idea. It looks alot easier to find things in the big bag that way.
BEST EDC bag ever seen. Live in Seattle too, and trying to get a bag together for my son--also in the "computer business." He travels a lot, and I never thought about what could go in his bag for airport travel. I've never seen such a comprehensive bag! You nailed it! Let's hope we never see Mt. Rainier blow! Thank you so very much. Very nice to see a face at the end of your video. God bless my fellow Seattlite!
Thank you for the recommendations. I have the Rite in Rain notepads in my BOB, but they are a little expensive for me to constantly replace in my EDC. That is why I go with the Moleskin. For me, the Rite in Rain notebooks are better suited for emergency purposes or rural adventures than for normal urban life. I purchased some Ex-Officio boxer briefs for my EDC backpack but they didn’t make the final cut. The other items were used more often.
I appreciate the careful thought you have put into being effective and efficient in organizing your everyday carry. The compartmentalization is a simplistic stroke of genius. My last count, there are over fifteen critical areas to consider in EDC. You've nailed it. Thanks!
True. I usually know where everything is at and put them in a single ziplock bag if I know I am going on a flight. There has been many times when I have forgotten to remove a particular item and didn't get stopped for it. Fortunately, I try to have everything planned out before hand before going on a flight.
The first version of this backpack (Feb. 2011) took a few months to put together. I have been revising that version over the last year and a half to come up with this Version 2.0. It's been a slow process. I'm glad you liked it and appreciated the goggles. That is the item that I get teased the most about, but I agree. They would come in handy in many situations (IMO).
Lots of great ideas here, and very thoughtful of you to provide a printable list. You might consider a small whistle and signal mirror in your survival pouch. Also a ferro rod would be a small but nice addition, and or small squared off candle to help with fires.
This has got to be the best edc videos I have come across. very well thought out and well organized. I'm amazed at the time you spent to actually put together a pdf for us that was very thoughtful of you. I like the fact that you seem to be just an everyday guy with a family and job and just like to have the things you need to go about your daily life in a very practical way. I also like the fact that you didn't do the usual look at my gun and knives crap. Once again thanks, and stay safe.
I have never ran into a situation where I needed to charge batteries for my EDC. I am going to be including the Goal Zero in my BOB since that would be a more likely scenario.
Fantastic! I'm glad my videos have helped you with your own preps. That is so awesome. I love the Eagle Creek Bags. They really help you create a modular setup. Best of luck!
Once again very impressed... you've covered all the angles, I have a locker at the base for hygiene and everything but every once in a while I find myself searching for finger nail clippers at a random time. Also, the spin for no weapons/ sharps is well thought out (recently flew home from a deployment via American Airlines instead of Gov't transport and had to triple check my bag to make sure I wouldn't be setting off any alarms. Not just the best EDC kit on you tube but that I've seen at all!
Really enjoyed your update, it's given me some new ideas for my system. I'm very much still a rookie to the EDC idea, so help is always welcome. The PDF has now been stored on my iPad too. Great idea.
I can tell you've really put a lot of thought and effort into your preps and videos. Thank you. And by the way, I admire the fact you carry tampons, some guys wouldn't be so considerate. kudos!
One thing that I did not notice in any of your videos. It is good to also carry a pair of rubber gloves. They are very light weight. What you can use them for is if you have to change a tire or something in the snow or rain. You can put the rubber gloves on first and then your regular gloves and the rubber gloves provide you with some insulation against the snow or rain whatever the case maybe. Just a little tip. I live in the PNW also. We seem to be obsessed with safety here.
I've had one on my Amazon Wish List for a while now. I think I will need to finally break down in get one, and move the current one I have in my EDC Backpack into another kit.
I think I commented earlier on your reviews, You are very thorough and well planned in the content of info you give us. I'm glad I've subscribed to you and" your families" channel , since they are your inspiration and they help with everything. Keep up the good work and dont mind the haters, just consider the source, narrow minded individuals. You have saved me alot of time and effort in my gear thanks again!! Cheers!
Wow! You have me beat. I’ve been using the 0.9mm ones since around 1999 (14 years). I would have a hard time not breaking the 0.3 ones unless I needed to write something in nano sized print. :)
Thanks for sharing your well thought out concepts on this. I purchased 4 Eagle Creek quarter cubes today to update my bag organization. I hope all is well and you are able to post more videos soon.
It's been a long time! Glad to see you're well. You have quit a bit in that bag and you are so well organized, that I wish I could have you organize all of my stuff. Heck, you even have a PDF!
Great stuff - nicely presented and it is refreshing to have a channel that is not driven towards military or tactical prepping. I very much enjoyed the content and your style of delivery - thanks for your time and effort in sharing this information :)
You shouldn't have problems with the majority of items in this backpack. Maybe the knifeless Fuse, but that one is left up to the discretion of the TSA Agent. I have found that TSA likes going through my backpack since it is easy to find everything. They would probably be more suspicious if I just threw everything in there without the organization bags.
Two things I would suggest you add is a small travel size tube of sunscreen and WhirlPak 1 Liter Stand Up Water Collection Bags. The water bags roll up very small and would give you a container to disinfect your water in if you have to use your water purification tablets. Most of the water tablets take a few hours to work so you could be disinfecting with the WhilPack bag while drinking out of your water bottle. Great videos!
I lived through the eruption of mount saint Helens, the goggles are a good item to have the dust was so fine like power standard safety glasses did not do much. I like the fact you included a radio, this is an over looked item in most EDC and Bug out bags I have seen
Thank you for the practical and detailed review of your EDC. If I could make one small suggestion it would be to carry a single use tube of crazy glue in the med kit. I too work in IT and there have been plenty of times when I cut my hands up on a sharp PC case. Using crazy glue to close the wound works well for me when I absolutely need to stop bleeding ASAP. I know others will freak at this suggestion but this has saved me many times while at a client's office doing repair work.
Really well made and inspiring video. At 13:39 you are showing a pair of duracell batteries being kept in a small plastic zip bag. I would not recommend doing so since air conducts electricity and this could drain your batteries by short circuiting them. It happened to me once. Will follow your channel for sure.
Thank you for the recommendations. I added some sunblock to my hygiene compartment after today. It was especially hot today and I got burnt while playing in the water with BP. :)
Great EDC vid. I also live in the Seattle area, my job takes me all over the Puget Sound which depending on what type of emergency and how it affects transportation, I could be looking at 1 hour to maybe up to a day (or more in worse case) to be able to get to my home and family. Your video gave me ideas on a few items I should (but don't currently) have in my EDC.
I don't normally subscribe to YT channels, but I found yours very informative and well-delivered (I also appreciate that your main focus is not weapons...). Keep up the great work!
I too got a Maxpedition EDC Organizer just recently. I have carried Pentel mechanical pencils for the last 25 years, I prefer the 0.3 mm ones as I like to write tiny print. The color-coded pouches are nice.
Thank you so much for your videos. You have really influenced the way I think about and organize my gear. And, the document you shared is awesome. Would it be ok with you if I share it beyond youtube?
I really love your setup. Mine is not quite the same but we have the same goals in mind. This is mainly because I use a Sitka and don't have the same room as the Pygmy. Nonetheless, on the outside webbing a shove a couple of G2 pens in so I have a pen in easy reach at all times. Also, to solve my paracord dilemma like the one you are having a knotted the cord around the carry handle at the top of the bag. Saves space and adds an additional personal/aesthetic touch.
Great all-around set up...I would add however three condoms (too many uses to list), an extra-small sil-nylon pack cover to beat the Northwest weather, and possibly an upgraded lighter and compass...My next-gen EDC looks quite similar though. Thanks for sharing!
If you wear glasses, you can get a small kit at most glasses shops. It is a small kit with a mini screwdriver and detachable magnifying glass, and an assortment of screws. It might be a good addition to one of your kits.
Really well made! Both the video and your pack. A German efficiency freak like myself simply has to like that. To me, your little office case is most inspiring, and I'll probably will adapt that for my EDC. So Thanks mr Prepper, and greetings from Germany ;)
I love your EDC! It's a bit much for my needs but when I think of what you do for a living I think you have the perfect bag. I'm actually considering an upgrade to your bag after watching your videos. Right now I'm using a sling pack and I find it's just too big. The weight of my pack is pretty low, about 17 pounds, but there's too much room and the weight can shift at random. I keep a small amount of charcoal in my pack just because it's effective and less costly than water tablets.
Wonderful information. I saw another video where the guy wraps the handles of the small packs with the paracord so it's not intrusive, but is always there.
Thanks for another great video. I've noticed that you carry Bic lighters in your various packs. Might I suggest that you not place them in a pack without having first secured the gas lever. It is easily engaged with the jostling and the various pressure points that occur inside packs during frequent use. I've lost all the gas in the one I carry in my EDC Pocket Organizer because of this. Now I wrap a rubber around the top of the lighter underneath the lever which solves the problem.
Thanks UrbanPrepper for another awesome video! Your EDC backpack is the best! I made an identical copy of your first EDC bag and I'm looking forward to updating it using the recommendations you outlined here. Thanks for including an itemized price guide with the video as this will help me with getting all the new items. I'm eagerly waiting to see your completed and revised Bug-Out Bag which you have been working on. Can you give us a idea of when it might be completed?
Thanks for making these EDC videos; I really enjoy watching them. I only have a single suggestion of something that you can add to your various kits, a pair of earplugs. You would be surprised how often you can actually use them. You can use earplugs on planes, while reading on the train, and in loud places where you don't want to damage your hearing. Thanks again for the videos and keep up the good work! :D
two things I will suggest is rite in the rain notepads they are awesome for rainy areas and I hear Seattle gets a little rain once in awhile, also to the clothing is backup underwear you never know. Other than that this is a great pack I will be updating my bag with the new ideas. Thanks
How often do you resort to your food compartment? I really like your style of independently organized compartments, and I've changed the organization of my EDC backpack to your style of organization and it works exceedingly well. Thanks for the video!!!
Good EDC info vids! I always like your way of showing things. I would add a magnifying glass to the survival kit. Its waterproof. Always think of a flood situation where the whole bag is gone be under water. So I've got some of these waterproof bags were I store my radio and road maps in. The pdf is really a good idea. Greetings from Holland.
Thanks a bunch! You can buy prescription goggles if you really want. I'm blind too without my glasses, but I would be even more blind if I was in an ash cloud without the goggles.
thank you for sharing,it must have taken u ages to pack it away, its very interesting, the food bag that i have would end up being a suitcase hehe, maybe the nappy/diaper that u had for your little one could be use for wiping things up or take it apart and use as a fire starting kit, silly idea i know but never mind, thanks again
One thing I would add is a pair of earplugs plug like the Peltor 97079 Combat Arms. They are excellent to protect your ears in case of emergency because they can stop impulse sound (explosion, jack hammer, gun shot sound...) and also be used as normal earplugs. In the impulse configuration, you can ear a normal speech level but they protect you from high volume impulse sound. I would add them in the volcano emergency section for secondary explosion noise like gas explosion.
I've watched a couple of you're clips, and a light bulb went off. You sound exactly like one of the characters on a hand puppet cartoon my nephews watch. (oomie, oobie) something like that. Anyway you sound like a very considerate and respectful person. I also like the way you keep things neat and organized. Making a pack similar to the one you have will be put into consideration for next time I take a vacation (or trip) into a city.(I probably live closer to BFE than you do Starbucks)
Love the videos - thanks for sharing the great ideas. I'm a baby prepper, and so I nearly always carry spare diapers. The ONE time I didn't carry a spare diaper was when I needed it. :( Oh well, lesson learned.
You should swap out the Duracells in your survival pack for Sanyo Eneloops. They will hold their charge longer. Nothing worse than needing to use your headlamp in a survival situation then finding out that you have a bag of dead Duracells batteries. Great video by the way.
Great idea with the eye protection / particle mask! You mentioned that you take this pack on business trips and that you go through security check points, have you taken this pack through a TSA check point? Will the items in this pack be able to be brought on as a carry on in a plane?
A suggestion, you can add the Goal Zero battery pack that i saw you had in a past video. So that way you can have extra batteries and have the ability to charge things on the go.
Mr Pepper you are what I would call a sleeper. I love all of your video's and I can relate to your personality. Your EDCs are sensible are complete. At first look you are not someone I would assume is so well prepared or a possible threat (if I was a bad guy). If you ever find your self in a situation I think you will be able fly under a lot of peoples radar, a benefit I do not have I tend to make my presence known without trying
I always enjoy your videos. I believe I've said this before but we have a very similar outlook as to what is actually useful vs. the kind of Walter Mitty thinking a lot of folks go into -- "this could be handy if I'm caught in a snowstorm in July in Arizona."
Hey UP. You should look into Petzl E+lite for you backup head lamp. I have two One for EDC bag and one for my truck. It weights nothing and it comes in a water proof case. REI does sell them for like $30 well worth it.
12:03 & 12:24 The Peaceful Prepper is doing a series on protective gear -- mostly Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the prepper-minded. There are two videos on masks/respirators[1, 2] and one on safety goggles[3]. [1] Protective Masks: What Do I Really Need in an Emergency? [2] Disposable Respirators: A Closer Look [3] Protecting Your Eyes in an Emergency
One thing I would add is a container to hold your water. Should you need to collect water and use your filter straw or tablets, it will help you use those items.
Hi from Germany. I suggest some cutting tool. A Stanley Blade secured witch Duct Tape is a nice improvised and disposalbe Mini Fixed Balde. Foldable Scissors or a ResQMe would be an Option, too. Like your EDC Concept.
Hairbands are also better for permanent storage because they do not go bad. Rubber bands lose there elasticity and end up stuck to what they are wrapped around. Good choice, I do the same thing.
Thanks a bunch! I'm glad that you have enjoyed my videos. I hope that you enjoy the new videos moving forward.
I've been getting into the prepping ideology for about 6 months now, and you have made a huge impact on the way I go about my planning. I thought you already knew: the coffee has been long gone for about a year now. Delicious! The Cajun spice is in my regular rotation of spices. It’s used often in soups and during BBQ’s.
Most grocery/department stores have a travel section for bathroom type supplies. I purchased this one at Target in one of those store sections.
Thanks! I find that carrying tampons saves the day much more often than carrying a lot of other common preps.
Very cool. Those FR-1's are very nice! A little expensive, but should last a lifetime. I'd like to see your kit!
I haven't really made any planning for that kind of evacuation/sheltering outside of my Bug Out Bag project.
Lots of great ideas here, and very thoughtful of you to provide a printable list. You might consider a small whistle and signal mirror in your survival pouch. Also a ferro rod would be a small but nice addition, and or small squared off candle to help with fires.
Thank you so much. I totally agree with the groupthink on wilderness survival equipment. I hope you start to carry a tampon. You'll save the day!
This has got to be the best edc videos I have come across. very well thought out and well organized. I'm amazed at the time you spent to actually put together a pdf for us that was very thoughtful of you. Sure! Feel free to share it. Thanks for the support!
The Belkin Mini Surge protector doesn't have a cord. It plugs directly into the wall outlet.
You are the most organized person I have known. What a great skill! Keep up the great videos, they are helping us on the organizing trail!
Really enjoyed your update, it's given me some new ideas for my system. I'm very much still a rookie to the EDC idea, so help is always welcome. The PDF has now been stored on my iPad too. Great idea.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for the kind words.
You can get them at Harbor Freight, Ebay or Amazon. PM me if you need a link.
Good ideas, especially regarding the flood situation. Thanks!

I like the fact you included a radio, this is an over looked item in most EDC and Bug out bags I have seen
I usually buy the Eagle Creek bags from REI.
I love the Sangean radio! I think it's one of the best around for its intended purpose.
Thank you for the practical and detailed review of your EDC. If I could make one small suggestion it would be to carry a single use tube of crazy glue in the med kit. Much respect for the time you take to put these videos together.
I don't normally subscribe to YT channels, but I found yours very informative and well-delivered (I also appreciate that your main focus is not weapons...). Keep up the great work!
I have enjoyed all your video's. I am totally hooked on getting more organized. Thanks for sharing..!!
this is probably the most organized bag in the world!
I too got a Maxpedition EDC Organizer just recently. I have carried Pentel mechanical pencils for the last 25 years, I prefer the 0.3 mm ones as I like to write tiny print. The color-coded pouches are nice.
Well thought out and organized kit. Appreciate the PDF listing as well. Kudos.

Wonderful information. I saw another video where the guy wraps the handles of the small packs with the paracord so it's not intrusive, but is always there.
KidPrepper sounds awesome! He sure is getting big. He has been working on a video that I will be uploading this week. :)
Great idea to have the LED bike-style lamp. I'll have to throw one of those in the bag.
excellent ,,i',m a security supervisor and find myself at different sites ,been watching your vids and they have been very helpful,,great job prepper
Excellent video. Question about the eye protection. Have you thought about how taht works with your glasses?
two things I will suggest is rite in the rain notepads they are awesome for rainy areas and I hear Seattle gets a little rain once in awhile, also to the clothing is backup underwear you never know. Other than that this is a great pack I will be updating my bag with the new ideas. Thanks
Sweet pack, very well rounded. This is the third video in a row I've watched and you have a new subscriber
How often do you resort to your food compartment? I really like your style of independently organized compartments, and I've changed the organization of my EDC backpack to your style of organization and it works exceedingly well. Thanks for the video!!!
where are the tiny twin pack of tweezers from? Didn't see them listed in your PDF (which is AWESOME btw...thx for the bonus)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insite mate
Hope the misses and Baby Prepper are OK
Good EDC info vids! I always like your way of showing things. I would add a magnifying glass to the survival kit. Its waterproof. Always think of a flood situation where the whole bag is gone be under water. So I've got some of these waterproof bags were I store my radio and road maps in. The pdf is really a good idea. Greetings from Holland.
Thanks a bunch! You can buy prescription goggles if you really want. I'm blind too without my glasses, but I would be even more blind if I was in an ash cloud without the goggles.
This is the EDC AM LOOKING FOR TO HAVE, VERY WELL ORGANIZE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
thank you for sharing,it must have taken u ages to pack it away, its very interesting, the food bag that i have would end up being a suitcase hehe, maybe the nappy/diaper that u had for your little one could be use for wiping things up or take it apart and use as a fire starting kit, silly idea i know but never mind, thanks again
The LD20 is a great light. I would also suggest the 4Sevens Quark AA^2 Pro as a general purpose light.
Thanks for the tip! I will check those out.
Great idea with the eye protection / particle mask! You mentioned that you take this pack on business trips and that you go through security check points, have you taken this pack through a TSA check point? Will the items in this pack be able to be brought on as a carry on in a plane?
Great idea! Actually, I have a Shemagh that is just sitting in my desk. I'll look into possibly making a switch.
You are the Best! You gave Ideas to me all the Time...thank you...think you changed me life!
Thank you for all your hard work , especially the attachments it help prep me .. Your NJ friend Patrick
Yep. That was a bad idea. Having the smaller bills have come in extremely handy.
I just bought three of the EC Quarter Cube packs. Great review and I love the organization. I am using a Grey Ghost Gear Stealth Operator bag.
I used the Quark Mini AA2 as my EDC flashlight. :)
12:03 & 12:24 The Peaceful Prepper is doing a series on protective gear -- mostly Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the prepper-minded. There are two videos on masks/respirators[1, 2] and one on safety goggles[3].

Awesome videos. Love the load out and the compartment idea is brilliant.
Would you consider trading out the bandana for a Shemagh? The number of uses for a shemagh out weigh the bandana greatly.
Hairbands are also better for permanent storage because they do not go bad. Rubber bands lose there elasticity and end up stuck to what they are wrapped around. Good choice, I do the same thing.
Absolutely love your bag and channel. Keep up the vids!
***** I'm happy to hear that, Isaac. Thanks for the support!
