Cliff, you should take a look at the ArmyTek Wizard 3.0 Pro, it's an angle flashlight that comes with a detachable pocket clip AND a convenient head strap so you can use it as a headlamp with a whooping 2000 Lumens. It can be charged via USB and has a magnetic tailcap. I've got 3 of them, one for each car and one on my person at all times.
Cliff, I am a long-term viewer and really enjoy your videos. There is one situation that you do not seem prepared for. You are not carrying a back up car key and front door key as part of your E.D.C..
My Father was notorious for locking his car keys in the trunk of the car. He always carried a second set of keys, so he would not be stranded. I picked up that habit from him.
A word on "flushable" wipes: don't flush them. Despite dubious unregulated labeling, septic systems are not designed for wet wipes (made with plastics and synthetic fibres that do not break in water---hence how they can be kept moist), and they wreak havoc on plumbing and the environment.
Disposable poncho. Can't remember how many times that $1 item has helped. Used it to wrap packages/boxes or cover grocery carts as well as main use keeping me dry.

Please note that UV light takes 30 minutes to fully disinfect something, even more so if submerged in water.
unless its UV-C then it only needs roughly 30 seconds depending on radiant lighting in the area and size .

OK, here is stuff that is really useful:
A second pair of glasses (if you wear glasses) with a head strap.
A walking stick. An old broom handle or metal pole will be better than nothing. Push wires, vines, etc. out of the way. Can also be used as a weapon.
A pair of goggles (over your glasses) with a head strap. One night of walking through a pine forest after a rain will teach you why this is needed.
Scissors are way more useful that a knife, and a pair of pliers.
A pair of leather work gloves, it's amazing how many things you may need to touch that you don't want to contact with your bare hands.
A towel and a wash cloth.
A mosquito net for over the head. A lifesaver.
A small hand mirror for looking at your eye after you've rammed a twig into it after walking in the woods at night.
A pair of medical grade tweezers.
Did you even WATCH this vid? Several of the items you mentioned are in this vid. And some of the items your suggest do NOT fall under the category of "URBAN."

HIGHLY underrated. There are far too many channels producing videos like these that only focus on the sexy stuff. The worst part is they throw all the gear in a bag and dont ever open the bag again! The fact that you include simple things like pen and paper, sanitation, quick release magnetic attachment. And CARRY IT and are FAMILIAR with it🙏

while i won't disparage anyone carrying an edc pack, i just couldn't do it, anymore. all of my edc is on-body, now. i just felt like i was starting to carry around a lightened version of my get-home- or bug-out-bag. wear cargo pants every day, so i always have plenty of pockets for what i carry. but as i said, i won't disparage anyone who carries an edc pack....they're just not for me, anymore.
that said, your attention to detail is always refreshing. how you incorporate your work mind into your edc/prepping mind is a good thing. it keeps you always thinking and always trying to come up with a better solution to a problem that may not exist, yet. and that's always a good thing.

When the braided cables are broken you can cut them and take the string off as one piece to use as paracord

@@richl4489 Oddly enough I've managed to survive very happily over half a century without carrying pepper spray. Or a head torch. Or a whistle. Or a toothbrush (I do it before I leave the house). Wet wipes? No. Balm? Nope. Urinal bag - seriously? Tourniquet and medical stapler? Wtf? What excactly are you preparing for? Absolutely none of that stuff is necessary at all. Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman, power bank and some cables, maybe a thumb drive, and the gaffer tape is a good idea. That's all you need.
@@malthuswasright Technically all you need is some form of calorie intake and clothing for decency. I'll agree some things here are redundant but as the only saying goes rather be caught with than without.
I carry a leatherman OHT, Para2 and some off brand usbc flashlight on my person and DDF a pack with extra food ,cables and a decent amount of medical supplies and warm clothes in the winter but I also work in the construction field so being prepped to handle Injury or having an extra pair of socks or food isn't uncommon when you're in the sticks with no 711 up the corner.

I like that you included the heavy duty construction garbage bag. I recently used one from my EDC bag as a temporary ice chest in a hotel to keep food refrigerated.
Those bags have a million uses!

Wow. You definitely think out of the box. I watched over 20 different Bug out Bag kits videos and almost everyone was the same. Your video showed the most ideas that weren't covered in anyone else's kit. For example the Faraday cage kits for phones or laptops, the ultraviolet buff head wear, the UV pen kit, and ballistic shield. Very cool.

Had a braided phone charging cable become unreliable after 6 years or so of daily use. They came through with the warranty and replaced it.

Brother I've been watching your videos for years and comparing this EDC pack to your previous versions is a real testament to the times we live in. Ballistic protection, biohazard protection, and an increased level of trauma care are the obvious points of note. There was a time when even many of us who share a preparedness mindset would consider these items to be extreme. Today they're prudent. The only thing I'd add is a capable means of self defense, which maybe I missed or possibly you've intentionally left out of your video.
I don't prescribe to the color coded system as I feel muscle memory is more reliable, but I like the way you've organized your system. Well done.

So just a few small things extra things that I have in my bag.
A magnifying glass it can be used for seeing very small things, medical uses, fire starting & signaling.
A small mirror again many uses including signalling, fire starting & medical.
A light weight "comms hand held" here in Aust we call then a UHF, I think in the u.s. you call them a FRS or similar either way a very handy peice of kit to have at your disposal when you need it.
A compass to compliment your paper map.
Some sort of small portable broadband for you mac laptop ( yes I know you can hot spot your phone but thats not really the answer ) & you depleate your phone battery a lot quicker, a good very small, light weight portable broadband will usually last you 2 to 3 days before it needs any charge.
Some matches, yes I know you had a bic lighter but nothing like a backup to the lighter.
Didn't really know much about the food that you carry, but something i also carry is some sugar to give a lift your or someone else's blood sugar if you needed to.
A salt replacement if you are sweating a lot as water will only re hydrate you for so long before you need to start replacing body salts.
Some sun screen & insect replant.
Maybe I missed it, I didnt notice if you had a knife ?. ( as in fold out pocket knife )
A smallfold up light weight ground sheet if you need to sit somewhere & its wet.
A small fold up or small portable solar panel ( Ive seen then attached to pack packs ) to charge devices whilst you are on the move.
What about maybe some cordage, so light weight, easy to carry & 100's of uses.
Some clothes pegs.
In the 1st aid are maybe add a snake/spider bite compression bandage or 2, again very light weight & easy to fit in & really a 1st aid essential may save a life.

I keep saying, sugar and propel packages, we have solar panel batteries, small bug repellant and sunscreen, small trauma kit in molle bag, always keep a fold out knife as well, always have extra sandwich bags with some body/hand wipes and some toilet paper. We also have paracord bracelets with a compass, temp gage, fero rod and whistle..those go on all our bags and in our cars, we used them while camping for 2 weeks and they held up even after disassembling the paracord.

Great idea! I was also thinking that elastic material would be a better option. There are way too many bottle size options, so a one size fits all kind of holder would be better.

consider using zip lock bags instead of pouches to save weight. ounces add up to pounds and pounds slow you down

EVASION (head-on-a-swivel; become a "Grayman")
PERSUASION (humble negotiation; See Negotiation in "SEVEN HEAVEN SKILLS" below)
DARKSIDE (without warning execute extreme violence on their eyes, throat, ears, groin, knees, feet; resilience & tenacity can outstrip strength & speed)
WEAPON (firearms may be easy but it may be wise to consider a concealable range weapon with low maintenance & not dependent on manufactured ammo, such as a baseball bat, adjustable walking staff/cane, crowbar, bullwhip, slingshot, etc)
*FIVE to SURTHRIVE!*
True, we should all be prepared to survive without energy/electricity or public water. But creating energy & water off-grid means more than just surviving, but it's thriving!
SOLAR POWER SYSTEM: solar panels, battery bank, inverter
WIND GENERATOR: wind turbine, battery bank, inverter.
HANDCRANK GENERATOR: gear ratio allows just one person to turn a handle & generate power.
COMBO GENERATOR: generator that combines as many of the sources mentioned above.
DEHUMIDIFIER: can pull water right out of the air!
PROs: Solar & Wind power can be increased by adding more panels, turbines, or batteries.
Handcrank can also be hooked up to a bicycle & is never dependent on the weather but can generate electricity 24/7.
Dehumidifier (large free standing room model) can provide upto 8 gallons of water per day (depending on humidity level in your area) even in a tiny little apartment.
CONs: No sun or wind, or human fatigue may limit power. Dehumidifiers are useless without electricity & if the air is contaminated be prepared to filter the water before drinking. Inevitably things will require maintenance & repair so mechanical/electrical/electronic skills will be valuable.
*SIX SHIELDED SHELTER*
_"Watchout With Wetty, Windy, Warmy, Wiggly, Wicky & Widow-makers!"_
Build a shelter where it's high & dry above "wetty" during rain, but close to a "wetty" source to stay hydrated; where "windy" is blocked when it's cold, but allow "windy" when hot; where fire wood keeps you "warmy" when cold, but shaded from "warmy" when hot; where you're off the ground away from "wiggly" critters & off a "wicky" cold ground; & not under "widow-maker" dead trees/limbs that could fall on you. Remember, you need something to sleep under, to sleep on & to sleep in.
*SEVEN HEAVEN SKILLS*

Acquire EVERYTHING to survive an entire short period first, before getting more stuff for a longer period because you do NOT want to have a year's worth of water but only 1wk of food & no medical supplies when everything collapses!
1ST: 1 week of water (1gal per person per day), 1 week of food (pre-cooked non-perishable), medical supplies, 1 week of hygiene supplies, 1 week of etc, etc.
2ND: enhance home security & security protocols
3RD: 3 months of water, food, etc
4TH: enhance transportation options (bicycle, trike, cart, dollie, etc), dependability & security protocols
5TH: Bug-Out-Bag Myth that bugging out is your first option? NO! Despite the fact that sheltering-in-place is optimum, we never know when we may be forced to bug-out, so it's "Better To Have It & Not Need It, Than Need It & Not Have It". Next, double up on equipment because, "Two is One & One is None".
6TH: 6 months mixed more water, food, etc
7TH: Self-Sustainable Sustenance, food production (study & practice gardening/small animal farming [chickens, meat rabbits, etc])
8TH: Priority Faith to pray for wisdom & humility to answer "If I only had enough time/money to acquire just one more thing/skill before a collapse what would it be?"
*_The beginner should just strive to survive without electricity. The top goal is survive a nuclear attack because at that level you can survive most every other kind of disaster. Remember, "prepping" (being prepared) is not an event, it's a lifestyle._*
*NINE CORE MEMBERS*
Anyone opposed to your core Principles & Purposes of life should NOT be in your intimate group!
GUARDIAN (Security, safety)
HEALER (doctor, medic, nurse, therapist, herbalist)
PROVIDER (hunts, forages, scavenges)

FARMER (reproduces animal/plant food; "When you can feed yourself, you can free yourself!")
CLERK (organizes supplies, equipment, tasks, training, etc)
CAREGIVER (domestic [cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc], counselor, teacher/babysitter)
LEADER (empathetically unemotional, logical, negotiator; will emerge as core group is established)
CHAMELEON (quick learner, adaptable, willing to change positions & either already has or studies other skills not listed here)

*B.O.B. (BUG OUT BAG)*
_(This is not to be confused with a smaller "Go-bag/Get-Home-Bag" you may keep in your vehicle)_
Without compromising quality, get the lightest weight versions of the following items & choose multifunction tools to keep total pack weight to less than 20% of a healthy person's body weight. Bare minimum examples are included below but there are always better quality items so do your own research. Remember, the best survival items are the ones you already have on you & know how to use well, & the more you know the lighter your load, so consider ways to improvise equipment/tools in the field & practice with what you have. Hanging on the outside of the B.O.B. have a small bag of "survival pocket litter" that you will empty into your pants/jacket pockets & onto your belt & try include at least one item from each of the following catagories, just in case you get separated from your B.O.B.
CONTAINER: Collapsible 1liter plastic water bottle or metal capped canister; water is 8lbs per gallon, so in addition to having some initial water on you, the ability to filter discovered water while on the move will be vital to keeping you hydrated & your load light so consider a mini-Sawyer water filter).
CUTTING: Knife (3/16" thick, full tang), Multi-tool with folding knife, saw, screwdriver set, scissors, awl, can & bottle opener, & pliers.
COMBUSTION: lighters, ferro rods, fresnel lens (magnifying glass), tinder, candle, flashlight, headlamp, etc.
CORDAGE: rope/paracord/duct tape
COVERING: Heavy duty plastic tarp 6x8, 55gal plastic drum liners or sleeping bag, hammock tent, 2 pair socks, 2 underwear, 2 undershirts (avoid cotton, cotton kills), long-sleeved shirt/pull over hoodie, pants (not shorts), gloves, face mask, bandana/shemagh, mosquito netting, hat, boots, light rain jacket w/hood (unless you live in a region that is cold more than ⅓ of the year do not pack a heavy winter coat, but just layer up all clothing when cold & insulate with plastic/rain poncho), avoid camouflage because it's not "Grayman"
CARE: First-Aid/Trauma kit (tourniquet, compression bandages, assortment of guaze, medications, etc); Hygiene (comb, 3 hand towels/rags, toothbrush, toenail clippers, sewing needles & upholstery thread, etc)
CONSUMPTION: Food (pre-cooked non-perishable -MREs/jerky) & Fishing/Hunting tools (hooks, string, weights, snare wire, fish/gill net, slingshot, crossbow, etc)
COMMUNICATIONS: Whistle, handcrank/solar AM/FM radio w/weather stations; walkie talkie, CB or ham radio, Topo Maps (local,state,country) & Compass; Energy (charger cords, handcrank/solar charger, batteries)
CREDENTIALS: (pin note on B.O.B. reminding you to get these before leaving) birth certificate, passport, marriage license, house & car keys, etc.
CASH: Initially cash money will still be King; pocket sized barter items (small packets of non-perishable food, instant coffee packets, sample bottles of liquor, gold/silver chain, candy/gum, etc)
CRAFTING: Axe/Machete, Folding/bow/wire saws, Clawbar 10" (doubles as hammer & key to the city), Self-adjusting wrench, Locking pliers, Multi Bit Screwdriver & Nut Driver, Electrical wire stripper/crimper.
CREATIVE: playing cards, harmonica (can scare off wild predators), literature (pocket bible, pocket SAS Survival Guide, etc)

I feel like I just watched Mary Poppins unpack her bag. Several minutes in and NOW we get to the main compartment! Excellent job. I am working on my EDC and car kits as bugging out on foot is not an option with my abilites.

I'll be honest when this first caught my eye I was already thinking this is another guy that carries everthing & the kitchen sink everyday all paranoid like. Stuff to the brim. But as I watched I agreed with all the stuff to edc. Still a bit of stuff but all was small enough and light enough to warrant it. Yeah there were a few things I wouldn't carry but that's more my situation here of not needing it. Very impressed with and going to look at purchasing some myself. Great vid man tops all the way. And you still had room for stuff lol

I tried carrying an edc bag a few years back but i noticed whenever i needed something from it i was always at home.
Little late, but for your EDC backpack, I find its helpful to just have two or more of the things, one strictly for pack use, and another for everyday use, expensive items can be a bit hard to justify, butyou could always use a slightly cheaper alternitive.

I would advise against the pepper spray so easily accessible. Someone else could grab it from behind you and use it against you. It should always be on the person.

I used to do this. Carry everything I could ever need. Then I realised I carry the stuff 100% of the time and needed it les than 1%. Now I don't go through life like a turtle anymore

I think there's a dilemma between carrying necessary EDC and bugout stuff. Many of us carry extra stuff assuming the worst. What if we can never get home for some reason. A fire or something else?

As an EMT I whole heartedly agree. One of my pet peeves is preppers who want to have advanced medical items in their kits. Staplers, suture kits, IV's, ET tubes, etc don't belong in your kits unless you have specific training for them and even then I still don't think they belong.

As a rule of thumb, if a dude has a medical stapler in his first aid kit, it's probably safe to disregard his "medical emergency knowledge."
Falling into a paranoid-like mindset and load yourself like a mule to walk around the city and take care of errands is just ridiculous.

Awesome video. You covered alot of the tools and supplies I have. Even the water key and weight was addressed. The one thing I did do in mine is add a water bladder. I did that along with a condensation bag. That way the condensation will not get the inside of the bag wet if it leaks or if the bladder is filled.
A GRAYL bottle works well in EDC too. I maybe a bit bulkier but it will eliminate space inside the bag. Look them up if you haven't already. Thanks again for the insight.

I carry a similar (but lesser equipped) bag when I commute on a train to work. I don’t take it when I am going to the market to pick up some eggs. The idea for me is that I have enough to be able to facilitate me getting home from my long commute if the train goes out (and helping out others along the way).
It's laughable. If you need to carry pepper spray and tourniquets you're in a war zone. Or possibly Georgia.

I have the Raptors also and use most features several times a week. The one that I don’t is the glass punch on the end of the thumb loop of the shears. You are well covered in glass punches with this kit.

Agree, in the UK I have tried several and all have been useless. So present fit out is a group of small high quality screwdrivers, not ideal. So i saw this and thought ...yes please!

If you can survive for three days or more, including patching up knife wounds, etc. without any outside assistance using just your phone (no connectivity) and wallet, I'm truly impressed. lol
whats the point in carrying around all this stuff everyday? i cant get my head around it.
The point is that if SHTF you can always be ready to handle situations that would put you or others in danger, it also allows you to have things that you might want/need on you at all time, and gives you peace of mind that you are at least prepared for things to happen.
I can't get my head around not carrying these things!
I think most of this stuff starts as real concern but kind of snowballs into full on I hope the apocalypse happens so I can use all this stuff lol
it´s a fun hobby to gather cool emergency stuff and have it ready in case you need it quickly.
@@drumstick6610 Not a prepper but "some" stuff comes in handy in an emergency. A few years back a pickup rolled over, and landed on its wheels and I happened to stop by to help (used to drive a jetta mk5, least prepper car ever, but carried an ''EDC'' bag, made fun of by a state trooper once), gash on driver face, small fuel leak and landed on a wire fence. First thing, put on gloves, open the hood and disconnected the battery with pliers from the bag (it was raining but didnt want any fire hazard), then use said pliers to cut wire fence to avoid it snapping suddenly, then get the driver out, get gause from bag "meds stuff" to dress dudes face to stop bleeding, give him a poncho so he doesnt get wet, having a bad day already, get the passenger out, another 1 dollar poncho and then call emergency, ambulance takes 30min to get there, EMTs get them on the ambulance and off they go, state trooper never shows up, pack up my stuff and leave.
As you pointed out, preppers oftentimes go waaaaay off into weird preps, but I see these videos as *inspiration* for my 80-20 ''EDC'', only 20% of the stuff to deal with 80% of the things that actually could realistically happen to and average joe
