Thanks Liz, as someone who is coming back to the violin after a four year-hiatus, this advice is spot on.

I am so grateful I found your channel! I am coming back to the viola after 15 years. Not easy but not impossible. Videos like this help me mentally. One week back in so far. Can’t wait to monitor progress.

Thanks Liz I hadn’t played till yesterday 11/4/23 the last time I played before that was 2/22. My son had a surgery and my wife was saying the violin was too loud but now I have her shut the door and I play. It feels good to play again … within me I knew I needed to play again!

Thank you so much for this video! I played from third grade to my last year of high school... Then stopped for 10 years. Oops! Im rediscovering my love for music and it feels like revisting an old friend. Cheers, and thank you again!

hi liz, great video thank you! I recently bought a new violin, and I feel my intonation is less accurate now. Is it due to the new violin? Or have I just hit a plateau of some sort? thank you !

Yes, with any new instrument there will definitely be an adjustment period! Good luck :)

Good ideas, I would like to add one, leave your violin out of the case in plain sight, you will be tempted to play/practise more

Nice video, but practicing is not for me. I am way past and done with practicing - I only play violin to please myself and I don't practice, everytime I only play violin to enjoy myself as only, not to reach some idea of perfection.
