I'm so excited for y'all!!! Your place is comfortable, workable, definitely usable and beautiful 😍 what more can you do? I'm just going to keep watching and find out/learn. I do believe your doing the world a favor Justin, by teaching what can be done with what we have already. I thank you and your family for allowing us to follow along, love you and yours on your life journey and learn as we go too! God bless

Just like your father did, you’re laying down the bricks for foundation that will end up helping and feeding your family for generations. You might not realize it but you are going to be a legend in your family from whet you have done for your family. Way to go.

I was hoping it would go on longer! Show more of the machinery digging and smoothifying the land! LOL
Maybe he is going to make a longer video later and this is just to "wet our appetite" so we will tune in for the longer version.

Maybe it was meant to be a cliffhanger? I sort of notice it to be a’ style’ here. Most videos have pretty quick endings. I hate to speak critically because there is always so much to love in the videos but a few seconds of music and a fade out would be sufficient to have the video seem complete. Regardless, I’ll continue to watch!

I GET IT! This year we sold off all our livestock and started a journey to find out exactly where our place is. We are still living on the same land that we've been on for 5 years, but now we are taking ownership of it. Investing our time, money and skills to make the house and land work for us instead of us make due with what we have. Hopefully, we can get livestock back in the future. But not before we are really ready for it. Thanks for being so open with us on your journey.

I discovered a letter my Grandmother gave me 30 years ago and it was about her being a farmer! She was excited of driving the horses to lift the hay into the barn! She did not own the farm but work at the farm...so their is hope for me to work at a farm!!!! Great Idea!!! I cried when I saw you making a hay lifter thing... it reminded me of my Grandma's letter I found this week!!! Godsequence!!!!!!!!!! THANKS Rhodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came on board just after the Great American Farm Tour. I really enjoyed the scrappy nature of everything you did. One really could feel the hard work involved. I am glad the channel is getting more viewership and your other projects are doing well to allow you to "sink your roots in deep." Congrats on all the progress! But, as with anything, change is not always easy, so these big changes will take some getting used to for not only you, but for your viewers. Good luck and keep the great content coming!

Your children are learning so much from all the things you’ve done at your homestead.
They’ll carry on your knowledge and work.
I envision Jonah doing great things, he would be a great mechanical engineer if he wants to. He has a problem solving type of thinking and that’s from you asking him how he would do/fix things.
A great project for you guys would be to build a little log cabin maybe for Lily to play in or to house some animals.

What about trucking in sand for your wet areas? I have had great luck with sand and how it provides a place for the water to go. The last thing that I would use is gravel. Have you ever tried to dig in gravel? They make special shovels for digging in gravel. Have you ever tried to clear gravel from an area you've had it dumped in? You will rue the day that you had that gravel dumped. I am no fan of wood chips either. They consume the nitrogen in the soil to break down. They do not return it to the now depleted soil. We are all a product of our experiences; I would like to think that I am learning my lessons. Be well, Tom.

    Hey Justin,
I love your family friendly videos. This made me realize you are a farmer secondarily and an entertainer as your primary income source through TH-cam. There is no way you could be doing all the improvements on your property with just your farm based income. Most by far of your income is coming from your TH-cam content. Training the children through doing farm chores is definitely good for their physical and character growth but they also need to understand and be educated on how to make fun and interesting videos for TH-cam content. If they do not want to work on a farm when they grow older they would have the ability to do TH-cam videos on a world wide assortment of suitable content.

Nice to see things getting into shape, money is a problem when we can't dream what we want, money is the power that makes ur dream turning into reality? I mean it is a cost that most people can't afford. Give, thanks to God, pray first before u eat too, God comes first before anything else. Thanks for sharing.

Five years ago I was diving into dumpsters for our food. This is still the land of opportunity :)

I hear you Francis. Money talk is always glossed over in homesteading videos cuz it ruins the fantasy for us, the viewers. For the vast majority, these videos are about window shopping for a better life we'll never have. But to Justin's credit, he mentions buying the land from his dad's estate. So that's a sort of admission that you can do this too, as long as you have family wealth. For some realistic financial talk around permaculture, I would recommend Jake Takiff of Cedar Springs Farms in Hotchkiss, Colorado. Or of course the great Allen Savory. These guys are about large scale, world-saving, community building, regenerative agriculture projects. And in the end, a privately and nuclear family owned permaculture farm for building more intergenerational white family wealth is still at least also building soil. Pros and cons, ya know?

@@daveyd3734 Not to start an argument here, but I've been following this family for a very long time... not long after their first videos were posted. True, they had the opportunity to buy part of the land from his family, but it wasn't gifted to him, so how does that make it part of intergenerational wealth? I've seen and heard this family's struggles. I, too, used to dumpster dive and I still make every $ work. Money may or may not be there for many of us, but it if you prioritize it the right way you can build the dreams this family is. Cut out the cable, vacations, eating out, new clothes, alcohol/nicotine, the newest iPhone, and all the other nonessentials and grow some of your own food, and you will find that you can suddenly reach your financial goals. Not everyone can make these sacrifices and hustle like we can though. 💪🏼 I'm grateful that I am healthy and have no medical debt, which sadly ruins people's financial future.

If your expanding the pig operation maybe make a sow shed with stalls where they could birth their litters

Its people who are either jealous, have a problem with the way Justin does things (which they shouldn’t its Justins homestead and he is paying the bills around there) or they watched it on a smartphone and accidentally hit dislike (Ive done that by mistake before, but i realised and corrected it).

So happy for y’all. Wish I knew the camera equipment y’all use so I could start my own little journey farming and be able to document it all and bring people along
