Honda Civic R is a Japanese mini muscle car. I like American V8 but this Honda I wouldn’t mind. There’s a video about tuning this and it can get up to 470-500 hp. Honda tuned it down for high school kids. Upgrade fuel pump, less restrictive pipes, change out fuel management unit, and software tuning is all you need. About 450 is good for this engine, 500 you might be on the top end, wear out your engine too quick. Good luck kids.

24:36 that will be anybody’s reaction to test driving a type r through some twisties. it’s okay in a straight line but through corners you will be impressed. FWD or not, give the car some credit
exactly, even the physics backs it up, due to weight transfer fwds tend to shine on the corners, even cars that arent 'race cars' do really well around corners. my acura ilx despite basically being an automatic civic si, is crazy on the corners, i have stock suspension so theres quite a bit of body roll but even with that i can take corners hella quick!

The civic type r is the best fwd like the Hyundai Veloster N or any other fwd, other people are saying that a fwd is awful to drive but they don’t know that the type r is the best fwd that can roast any other vehicle like a fwd or rwd, The civic type r is the king of the hot hatch period.

For me owning my 2019 SGP Type R is a blast but what makes the car even better and the reason I bought it was the community and accessories that follow it
Got myself on of these three months ago and I haven’t looked back. Swapped out the exhaust and pulls the plug on the fake noise and it screams through the corners just like it should
I had a '19 and would go Supra if you have the money. At the end of the day, it is a Civic. We're comparing a very nice BMW/Supra with a Civic. Honestly, if you don't plan on racing the CTR, then go Supra. I traded mine because it was not so great for daily driving and I just didn't want to find race opportunities.
@@slimpickering1699 lol??? What did I just read? The CTR is a wayyyyy more practical daily. 4 door HATCHBACK that you can actually put things in. Where as the Supra is a small 2 door coupe? The CTR is a far superior handling car. The Supra oversteers wayyy to easily. Its a more practical car, quicker on the track, and has a tad bit better power to weight ratio. Not to mention the Honda reliability. The fact the Supra is BMW, RUN!
@@GERONIMO326 The hatchback part is, but there's nothing practical about 20" Wheels on a Civic. Those rubber bands they call tires wear out quick and if you end hitting a bad pot hole or a gator....you're gonna have a very bad day.
Patiently waited for this video and it was definitely worth the wait . We need more videos similar to this . Great job !
'At the track, not running the best times leaves a bad taste in your mouth, pop a breath mint'
😂 Love the videos
Joe's arms are more glossier than the 20 in. Type R black gloss wheels 6:30. How do you film in that sweltering Florida humidity Joe? Another great review made on my next car by a great reviewer!! Thanks Joe for making my day! I was waiting for this review and it's finally here! 24:40 scared the crap out of me- I don't think I've EVER saw Joe have a cargasm like that in all his videos that I've seen so far! Mark this as a Classic moment! In a brief fit of primal rage, it's like as if though someone stole one of Joe's twinkies!
Finally the 2020 type R review 👍👍
I hope it was worth the wait!
Neighbor got this in the same boost blue color, it handles on rails. Absolute demon on corners and feels amazing, he's let me drove it and for the $ it is the best thing you can get on the market.
Thanks for sharing that!
Type r such an incredible car 🔥🔥
Wow! The civic has come a long way! Had a 2001 Prelude type sh I bought new & loved it!! Sold it two years later to get a s2000. Wish the would bring back the prelude.. Great review!
I totally agree with you Jay! Thanks for the compliment!
SHE STICKS!
Heck yeah!
I had a 2017 that I regrettably sold a year ago and just bought a 2020. Super happy!
Congrats man!
Absolutely amazing car, I’m in love😍
I’m so glad that you like it!
You do a great job reviewing cars I love it . You have the thing people like to hear . Great job !! You reviewed an 2020STI AND I bought one because you gave it a great review !
Your expression going through that last turn near the end shows how fun Hondas are. I'm curious how you like the 2020 R compared to your STI Type RA.
You are so very right man! Your wish will be granted in a comparison .
Raiti's Rides Also compare it to your driving experience that you’ve had with the S209. I understand they’re different price points, but just curious what your thoughts are. Thanks.
I've been unemployed for a year now & you've convinced me I deserve this car.
Looks awesome 😎
I’m glad you liking it!
I love when you show off your technical driving ability.
The civic type r is the best fwd like the Hyundai Veloster N or any other fwd, other people are saying that a fwd is awful to drive but they don’t know that the type r is the best fwd that can roast any other vehicle like a fwd or rwd, The civic type r is the king of the hot hatch period.
This is very true!
Raiti's Rides The civic type r is my dream car
Joe, you're the best car reviewer by MILES. Your knowledge about aerodynamics, the engine, your single take videos, you're phenomenal man, 300k? You deserve 300million subs, none like you man, what-a-mindblowing review, so much info you shared, peeps please subscribe.
Lmaoo u crack me up Joe. This is why I watch you. He said red seatbelts that adds another 10 horsepower and always talkin about skittles and twinkies
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
Love your videos Joe. Keep giving it the business man. Love the car. I’m thinking about getting the 2022 Civic Type R at the end of this year.
Honda should go into the parts bin and put an all wheel drive system in that pocket rocket.
Stay tuned! Big things are coming!
There might be one. But it can be a hybrid.
Saumadip Das why a hybrid that will ruin the type r
@@benwalsh7018 yes I was thinking the same. But I'm taking it with a big grain of salt as it is a rumour.
For me owning my 2019 SGP Type R is a blast but what makes the car even better and the reason I bought it was the community and accessories that follow it
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership!
Instead of going for this at 37k I'll go with the Subaru BRZ ts it's cheap and much more fun . I love the BRZ. What do you think.
The BRZ is a ton of fun!
@@RaitisRides yes man I drove them when I visited Dubai last year it was the most fun .
They're different animals and probably aren't even in competition with one another. BRZ is nice though
I have an 86. You can't go wrong with this car.
Yeah, you're looking at $700 a month for financing with good credit for the Type R. That's some peoples rent.
Great drive Joe. Your lack of comments while on throttle SAID a mouthful! 😁
Agree with you on styling. It’s the only thing holding me back.
I hope Honda come out with an Accord Type R
That would be awesome!
Honda cancelled manual transmissions for the 2021 Accord so don’t hold your breath.
They do. It's the Volkswagen GLI 😂
Got myself on of these three months ago and I haven’t looked back. Swapped out the exhaust and pulls the plug on the fake noise and it screams through the corners just like it should
Congrats man! That is so awesome! Great job man!
I honestly think I would go for this over a Supra. The engineering and performance with manual are there.
Should of done 18s stock and had the 20s as a dealer ordered option for Track day.
@@DragonKnightX12 I have 40k on my CTR, stock wheel, no problems, switched to Conti Ex Contact and get about 25k miles out of them. Not bad at all
M-58 Michigan Upper Peninsula. 45 miles of smiles, Grand Marais to Munising. A no-excuses all out sports car. It performs like it looks. At 65, I am BOYRCR. Please drive safely.
Joe what type of watch are you wearing? 🔥
It’s an Invicta.
I love invicta I have collection
@@jes3363 That is so awesome man!
Raiti's Rides from Orlando I love you videos good job 👍🏻
@@RaitisRides my favorite watch ⌚ n love the reviews as always
Love that red badge, I went to a junkyard and pulled it out and put it on my SI
I clicked on this so fast my touchpad froze.
Great video Joe. You are making me want one. You were really flying on that road at the end.
You have to try one out Frank. The Type R made me do it!
I love the color. It still sounds quiet. I’m surprised they kept a metal shifter. Going to be hot in the Florida sun. The leather wheel was better. I still love Honda!
Very good points Jennette!
@@RaitisRides listening to you drive it makes Frank and I want to drive one! We want one! 😂
Your enthusiasm Joe as always is ON THROTTLE!!! 😁 If you were impressed with the stock performance you’d be beside yourself with the overall power delivery, traction control and smoothness of a Hondata and Phearable Stage 2 Tune. It’s night and day Brother. I had that tune on my 2019 all stock parts Type R…worth the upgrade! Just traded in that 80k mile car….no issues whatsoever!…for a Blueberry Boost Blue with 8 miles. Would be interesting to see your review of a modified donor vehicle(any future reviews etc.) so that your audience can see how a couple of mods can change a vehicles personality. Great video as always Joe! Glad I subscribed a while back!
Joe: "Let's take a look at the history of the Type R." 🙁
Me: (forward to)
"ON THROTTLE!!!"
🙂
Jk, I watch your entire video everytime and even enjoy the history lessons.
Holy balls Joe! I’ve been waiting to see your review on this 💙💙💙thank you!
Damn Honda , My 2010 Honda Accord Lx-P is starting to feel outdated compare to this. Lmaoo wow even tho I don’t have $37k for this , it does sounds much affordable compare to the Sti and when then EvO 10 was out . Plus who can deny Honda’s reliability. My accord is at 180k miles. Still no major problems .
This is so very true!
“You got a skittle tray so you can taste the rainbow “ u got me there 😂😂😂 tbh this my dream car
