Caruso needs to play at least 20 minutes a game. Look at how much he pushes the pace when he's on the floor. One of the things that doesn't show up on the stat sheet is his ability to throw screens, take up space, push defenders out of position, and just be a sneaky sneaky guy on the court. He just slashes around one minute and the next he is like a ninja sneaking into position to make plays. You will notice when AC is on the court there is always one Laker player open and one defender out of rotation. AC reminds me of Jason Kidd because Kidd didn't always put up the stats but always knew where he needed to be on the court. I think AC is more athletic than Kidd but Kidd was a better shooter. AC needs to work on his shot because if he gets better shooting he is a bonafide starter for any team in the NBA. One of the things that is so obvious is James has played with a lot of "partners" but he and Caruso look like Stockton and Malone. They look like they've been doing this for 10 years together they almost share a brain on the court. Imagine another year or two with Caruso and James together. Caruso and AD also started developing something special in the playoffs and when KCP got hot you have another outlet for Caruso to goto.

He'll get one coming up. Hard to remember as Laker fans this his first full NBA season cuz he was around the team via the G League for a couple seasons and a half. But yup, sounds weird but he's on a rookie contract. Making almost 3m a year though. Decent money but yeah. Come 2021 if he keeps this up Lakers gonna pay him well. I think he's only gonna get better, too. Offensively at least.

Caruso is a very good support player. His court vision, passes, hustles, rebounds, 3-pointers, steels, fast breaks and selflessness all compliment Lebron and AD. Most importantly, he has nothing to lose so he does need to care if he offends another well-known player by a block or steal. Another important contribution of him is "putting stops or disrupt opposing team's momentum from time to time, so the Lakers don't lose 20-30 points in one quarter like this past year. I have no clue why the Lakers will not try to keep him just so that they can free up the money/slot with Kuzma for Westbrook. Also they got rid of Dudley for the morale and glue he provided for the big players, making it fun and resolving interpersonal problems. Got rid of a solid supporting 3rd man like Kuzma who has the young legs.
