Thanks for making this video I was going to purchase the g24 but now I'm going to go buy an Argus. Finally making the plunge into night vision. I'll be buying a tanto
I just recently bought the argus, I have a Team Wendy w/Wilcox shroud. It fits solid, and the adjustments are positive. I ordered the argus pro/came with J arm, which swings out to the side. When in the up position, create a lower profile. With shipping/ tax $300.00. Solid piece of gear!👍🏻👍🏻
that Argus looks like a slightly modified version of the Wilcox G24 Lite, which is a Wilcox G24 Body with a G69 carriage. it’s an unlisted option from Willcox. If you’re lucky you can snag them from Goonin Gear. The only difference between the standard and the lite G24 is that the lite model doesn’t have magnets in the carriage and which is usually a non-issue because nobody runs the powered J-Arm for the PVS14 these days… Great Review btw 🤙🏼
I’m not gonna get into the details but a LOT of the shade thrown at the powered J-Arm functionality belongs to faulty PVS implementations of the on/off and has zilch to do with Wilcox. All the J-Arm does is implement a momentary push button that is gated (inhibited) if it’s not in the G24 bayonet sled. I recently got the G24 lite (have G24 as well) it can be had other places, not just Goonin tho it was apparently the result of his ask for a lighter mount that dumps the magnets. Those magnets are also gonna mess with the magnetometer compass in your thermal. Then again some goggles use magnets for the pod on/off lol. The whole thing is such a mess.
@@JamesReedy Thank you for the response, I had never heard about the faulty electronics. i’m also wondering where else the G24 lite is being sold? I also picked one up a few months back and LOVE it
@@gatorbone1531 I got mine from the guys over at Custom Night Vision; said in stock on the website. Put in the comments, “cancel my order if not in stock” guy called me immediately and was like no worries we really have it, showed up 3 days later. Goonin was out and said they should trickle in thru Jan and Feb IIRC but my impatience sent me searching. I’m gonna keep my G24 to run on the PVS-14 and get the housing (brand new) fixed. You’ll find a few quiet voices in the crowd that will tell you it’s the PVS not the arm. To be clear I’m talking about the Wilcox offset J-Arm with the push button that magnets to the Wilcox G24 mount carriage lock plunger. There’s no way that shouldn’t work and it’s not a, “shitty feature” like some will tell you. It’s smoke being popped around the fact that some PVS are flakey in terms of how they handle that switch closure best I can tell. There are apparently auto off that work by magnets when you swing the arm up (so I’m told) maybe those are flakey but the system I just described should be bullet proof. You push the plunger which sympathetically pushes a momentary switch that is afixxed magnetically onto the plunger, and the unit should turn off right then and there and then you just finish, swinging it up and out-of-the-way.
AEONTAC NIGHT VISION has them right now I just picked one up on its way everywhere else it was sold out thanks for the review can't wait to replace the Amazon G24 I got right now😮👍
Had to add a foam shim on my Wilcox G11 to take out the rattle on the HHV ate helmet Just got the argus lwnvm mount as I am working my way towards a dual band setup once again since some cheaper mounts and bridges have become available
Thanks for the comment! I’m happy you found a solution! I have always needed to shim with mounts especially with my G24. With HHVs new shroud and the Argus mount I needed less shimming thankfully.
I've been pretty impressed by my Argus. The Wilcox is 3x the price of the Argus, but is it really 3x better? Seems doubtful to me. I see a lot of "don't trust your expensive night vision device to a cheap mount" and while I understand the sentiment, the reality is that the purpose of the mount is not retention. The purpose of the mount is to position the device properly in front of your eyes and every device should be retained by a lanyard or other form of attachment beyond just the mount itself. Several years ago I fell through the floor of a shoot house into a sub-basement. I hit my head so hard on the wall in the fall that the impact snapped the Wilcox J-Arm that was holding my PVS-14. The thing that prevented my PVS-14 from hitting the ground was a .02 cent piece of paracord that was tethering my PVS-14 to my MICH. The impact also bent part of my TATM. So even expensive equipment can be broken and it's a good idea to take extra steps to protect your device. It looks like you needed to shim your Argus mount to get a snug lock-up with your shroud. I also had to do the same with my Argus, but for a savings of several hundred dollars I'm not disappointed.
You make a valid point about the price difference between the Argus and the Wilcox mount. It's true that even expensive equipment can break, and it's essential to take extra precautions to protect your device. Your experience with the paracord tethering your PVS-14 is a great example of this. While the Argus may require some adjustments, it seems like it has served you well and saved you a significant amount of money. It's essential to find a balance between cost and functionality when it comes to gear like this. How is the device doing from that fall?
If you were to ask Wilcox they will tell you the wobble is a "Feature", not a determent to the G24 LOL I have an extended G24 on both my AS-501 & Caiman Bump so I can say that as I've paid my dues to them. If I ever need another mount I may just give this one a try.
I do like the skeletonizing to reduce weight. Would like to see down to the gram what we're saving (if you said, I apologize, as I'm watching while working). Big ups for the HHV LTE. Josh and the team over at HHV are great and I love my bump for cost-effective mounting of my PVS-14. Their mounts are SOLID... tight enough that a new bayonet Norotos mount wouldn't fit and lock in, but a dovetail Norotos clicked in just barely... not upset, since the dovetail is so much better.
HHV lite is amazing! I agree everyone on their team is amazing people! Their new shroud keeps mounts snug that’s for sure. The Argus is 140g and the Wilcox is 163g. Thank you for the comment! 👊🏼
@@SpecterSolutions 23 grams?!... WOW! With 28'ish grams to the imperial ounce, that adds up quick in the 'ounces = pounds' concept. Also means being able to reduce the amount of overall weight by dropping counterweights to balance the helmet.
Thanks for comment! I have had this one for 3 years and heavy use. I’m also a dealer and sell them and other items as well. The ones that come in my batches, 8/10 g24s have wobble unfortunately. I’m happy yours is one of the better ones 👊🏼
I have both of these and can say for sure the Argus one is not better. It’s functions aren’t smooth (sticky button, gritty tracks, etc.) it has been sturdy and I trust it to hold my spare pvs14 but the Wilcox is easily much better in tolerance as well as fit and finish.
Thank you for the comment and the info. Thats unfortunate you got a bad one! So far I have not complaints on the Argus. Trainings, force on force. Holding strong 👊🏼
Very few mounts are NOT better than the G24. One of the most wobbly trash abominations that the nods community was ever suckered into thinking was mediocre.
if your wilcox wobbles, its broken. get it fixed. none of mine wobble at all. you didnt sell me on the other mount. a few grams of weight means nothing. throw it against a wall and tell me how the customer support is and the warranty. Pour water on it and let it air dry... now how does it work? pour sand on it, how does it work? wilcox and norotos have both proven themselves to be worth what they charge for their products... this other company has not proven anything more than how they can steal a design like a typical chi-com fly by night.
Thank you for your view and comment! I’m happy to hear yours dont wobble! I’m not trying to sell anything here just let others know of options and my opinion! That is my 3rd Wilcox and all seemed to end up the same way. Everything has a braking point, I may be hard on equipment. After running the Argus for a while I’ll do an update on it, but until then Let Darkness Be Your Friend 👊🏼

How is the device doing from that fall?
When you mounted the argus to the helmet, you only used the bottom slide. What purpose does the top slide serve?
If I’m understanding your question, it is to move the mount down and up long ways. Thank you for the comment
Will these mounts work with the pvs-14?
Yes sir, make sure you have proper J arm with dove tail!
Yes, Walmart searches for the brand name "YSS" and there is this product, which is made of all-metal aluminum alloy.
Really helpful review. Gonna go try to fine one.
Glad I could help! Here’s one in stock

Hello,We have this new all-metal dump truck helmet mount.
Are these made in the US?
No these are made by Argus, their company is in china
We ship from the United States
You never mentioned the materials the Argus is made of.
You are correct! It’s made up of same as Wilcox G24- aluminum, and Polymer. Thank you for the view and comment 👊🏼
