the scene in the beginning of the episode was to symbolize his fear of being abandoned again like end of S1, this is end of S2, so it mirrors that.
He fears regret because the Human god told him one of his decision will lead to regret, losing paul was sadness and not regret, so he dont know what the regret was and thought it might be that his family abandoned him.

Yeah, the anime cut out a lot, in their conversation the party literally spelled out that Rudy's probably gonna die if he goes on, but they said "hey, he's an adult and strong, he'll pull through"
Only Roxy have seen how vulnerable he can be, so she couldn't agree with them
To Rudy it wasn't just about Paul's death, it reminded him of his past life, how he treated his parents, anything to do with his life on earth is extremely traumatic to him. He played the hydra fight in his head numerous times, each time thinking what he could have done different, maybe he should have made different choices, maybe he should have dedicated his life to the sword if the hydra had resistance to magic, it basically scratched out all the progress he made and made him think he wasted his life again. Rudy would have been dead.

I totally get it from the anime only perspective. The anime does not do the Light Novels justice, but that's just how it is. As for why the anime made it seem like Sylphy is used to the idea of Rudy probably bringing another woman comes from her time with Rudy's family as well as her time aside Ariel. She saw Paul and his relationship with Lilla and Zenith. Even she spent a lot of time with them while Rudy was educating Eris. Then there's Ariel. The anime left a lot of that stuff from the Light Novels. While she was alongside Ariel, she was surrounded by many nobles that were polygamous. Both noble men with multiple wives and noble women with multiple husbands. Luke Greyrat had an harem of his own which was only very briefly shown in the anime compared to the Light Novels. She had been witness to polygamous relationships ever since she met Rudy's family. It became normal in her eyes over the years.
I just wanted to mention this at the very least as the anime over the past 2 seasons hadn't really done much with this part.
Fitting both of the marriages into one season was always going to be a bit of a stretch. They did better than I was worried about given some of the quality drop in the early s2, but this last arc hits so many important moments and we're literally SPRINTING through them with no room to breathe.
Thats so true, a lot of details and metric ton of world building was cut so they could make it to the end of the volume.
Considering the genuine love Rudy has for his family is also another factor
I think people put too much about their ideology in modern time monogamy without realizing what you just said, if im not wrong until late 1800s polygamy was practiced, which its ok its their point of view.
@@zerejescamilla9314 Polygamy is still practiced in many places around the world and it's become more popular as modern generations are becoming less and less religious. Honestly a big part of polygamy falling out of favor is due to religions like Christianity becoming significantly more widespread and with it being the main religion in the US since it's inception it's not wonder that most people are against it as it's seen as mostly immoral.
From an Anime only point of view, Sylphy is okay with Roxy as Rudys second wife because she was in the same position as her when she met him at the Academy. At that time she thought that Elinalise was Rudys lover and she still wanted to be on his side to get a little bit of love at least. I think that's the reason why she couldn't deny Roxy.
some points to consider for the discussion 15:18 onwards:
a) It's shown much more explicitly in the light novel that Rudeus' "love" towards Roxy is still mostly admiration, before gradually developing into genuine love rather than how sudden it feels in the anime. Probably the most important novel-only scene that shows this was a conversation where Rudeus reveals his past life (without saying it was him) to Roxy, and after some discussion Roxy helps him move on from his mixed feelings regarding the mistakes he made.
b) After sleeping with Roxy, Rudeus still was intent on leaving her behind, but Elinalise lied and alluded to him that Roxy had gotten pregnant so as to further convince him into not leaving her behind.
c) Sheera's point is valid based on what the anime shows, but when Roxy approached him it'd been over a week since Rudeus had eaten; he actually would have ended up dying of starvation if they left him alone. Only Roxy had seen how scared and unresponsive Rudeus became at his lowest, whereas the others had only seen the confident mage prodigy who seemed mature beyond his years.
d) This is also highlighted in the final scene at Paul's grave, where Rudeus talks about how he'd just been using his past life to act mature, despite his mental age still being the same as his current life's physical age (keeping in mind that he never developed mentally past the age of 13-14 in his past life due to hiding away from the outside world).

I heard that in LN Elinalise said to Rudeus, that if he dump Roxy and wouldn't marry her, than Roxy would probably be wrecked, and she would have a relationship with someone who wouldn't love her, and would use her, like that prince from Shirone kingdom, that she tutor. And then Elinalise lied about Roxy's pregnancy. So there was 2 reasons to marry Roxy

Something that was skipped from the Light Novel is that Elinaise told Rudy that Roxy was pregnant even though she isn’t which may of led to Rudy having to take “responsibility” of Roxy which may have led to a better reason for his actions(even if they are still wrong).

@colonelkenpachi5009 Actually, Elinalise said those things because she doesn't want things to repeat itself. What i meant is that when they were still in the same guild, they have a complicated relationship between paul, ghislane and her. But after zenith joined their guild the three felt out because zenith got impregnated by paul in their first time. Bu sunce zenith is a millis follower, he wanted paul to be loyal to her and then paul decided to disband the guild, leaving behind elinalise and ghislane feelings left out. That's the reason on why Elinalise is so angry at paul. Well they would discuss this on later volume but saying it wouldn't spoil that much. So yeahh Elinalise doesn't want roxy to be left out, because she sees herself at her.

The regret was already had, but flew over my head too until I watched a recap video. The regret was that Rudeus did not appreciate his first life's parents while he still had them, which he did not realize until Paul died.

The best way I can explain Rudy's love for Roxy is that, his admiration towards her CLOUDED his love for her. The anime lacks A TON of context but basically, the time he had with Roxy and specially the deed made him REALIZE(he didn't immediately fell in love to her like how it was portrayed in the anime) his love for Roxy.
They also actually had a lot of time together in the Labynrith City and went shopping a lot which wasn't mentioned in the anime(except that one time they bought the roots and sword). All in all, the 2nd half of season 2 is the most rushed as of now. I was actually expecting this part in the ending of season 3.
Yeah I knew it would be missing context. We've been with Slyphy like the entire 2nd season. Meanwhile Roxy has appeared maybe 5 episodes in the whole anime.
Hell even the 1st season was pretty much all with Eris. Roxy by far has had the least time with Rudy so I can see why they'd think his reason for marrying her was way too weak.

It'd be much more convincing and easier to accept had the anime put more time for Roxy instead of speedrunning it. Seeing important pieces of information and having the time to be able to process it is crucial for the viewers to emphatize for the characters.
Wish S3 would do Roxy justice
It blows my mind that they spent a whole half season on the terrible ED plot which essentially forces the second half of the season to just feel like bullet points being checked off. The pacing was very bad and the sole focus on Rudy's pov makes a lot of the decisions and outcomes feel forced and like wish fulfillment.
Turnover Point 4 really turns this story from "a fairly good fantasy story" to "One of the best fantasy stories ever written."

Ehh. Doesn't bother me. It's a medieval fantasy setting so it's not really that strange. And it was already established it's not that abnormal in that world by Paul. I don't get why people are so outraged. I don't recall anyone clutching their pearls that hard when Uzui's wives were introduced. At most people were like "lol that's crazy" and got over it rather quickly.

So Sylphie accepting Roxy was slightly elaborated on in the LN. She was actually happy it was Roxy since she was expecting it to be Linia, Pursena, or Nanahoshi. Sylphie is actually very insecure when it comes to Nanahoshi although Rudy has no attraction to Nanahoshi whatsoever.

I scrolled down a bit to see if the original discussion of 'Rudy's reasoning to marry Roxy' was touched on much and didn't see but a couple of snippets. Suffice it to say, the Light Novel just has more content that explains states of mind, perspectives, dialogue that was cut, etc. ((This is a big info dump of explanations of unseen events and unheard dialogue, spoken or thought. There's youtubers who cover this and this info is spread around in smaller comments already, the one I'm thinking of at the moment being @AniNews. No need to read my post, I'm just summarizing what I can.))
1: This is the most important point for viewers to keep in mind throughout the rest of the anime as well: Rudy is what's called an *Unreliable Narrator*. This is a narrator who is either intentionally deceptive or unintentionally misguided. In this case, Rudy - throughout his storytelling - lies to himself and, thus, to us. This is part of his character as a flawed human being; he was not a mentally healthy person going into this world and much healthier folks lie to themselves regularly. Rudy subconsciously distances himself from the concept of parentage. He considers his mother as just 'a mother I happened to be born to' and his father as 'a flawed man - basically younger than me - that's kinda a bad father'. He tries to not care about his mother and shows little respect for his father. But this is lying to himself (and has a lot to do with the death of his real parents, which would take a lot of analyzation to explain). Instead, we can see that after Eris left him, the memory of his mother was what pushed him forward. And now we can see that what he thought were his feelings about his father were wrong. His father's death DEVASTATED him. He refused to eat or leave his room. He refused to speak to anybody and didn't even register others' presence. Asleep, he would have nightmares of Paul's death, while awake he would spiral in thoughts of how he failed and questions of his real parents and his grief and regrets from then. He was caught in a whirling quagmire of horrific nightmares and self deprecation. To put it into perspective: he was mentally worse off after Paul's death than when he was stripped naked and tied to the school gates during his bullying, growing close to the point of death by starvation.
2: There's a lot of cut dialogue leading up to Roxy confronting Rudy. Mainly about how many options the party brainstormed about resolving his condition. The one they were sure of was having someone sleep with him, but Elinalise refused (and then had to explain why to the party, revealing Rudy's marriage), and the party decided prostitutes wouldn't get through to him. So they gave up and figured he'd be fine. Roxy still believed in the idea because, based on his isolationism as a child, she knew he wouldn't be able to find his own way out. When it came to the action, there was more dialogue as well: Roxy explained how a friend of hers died in the past, too, and how she could share the grief. This was important for 2 reasons: It showed Rudy that he could eventually recover from this, however hard and long the road would be. It also let Roxy frame her advances as a way to assuage *her* grief at losing Paul, a party member, which was bringing up memories of her other friend. She was preying on Rudy's empathy in order to pull him out of his lethal depression.
3: This one is big: Elinalise told Rudy that Roxy was pregnant afterwards, while traveling back home, when Rudy was being indecisive. He was leaning towards taking responsibility for having done it with Roxy anyway, but Elinalise lied about this to push him over the edge. Elinalise is as much Roxy's best friend in the story as Sylphie's grandmother, and she wanted both of them to be happy. In a world where Monogamy is the minority, she saw a second marriage as an obvious and simple solution.
4: When Sylphie claimed that she 'knew it was only a matter of time before Rudy brought back another wife' and explained it was because of 'how dirty his mind is', that's only half the actual explanation. I find it sad they left the rest out: she thought it was only a matter of time before he _did it with another woman_ because of how *perverted he is*, whatever the circumstances were, but the reason she thought he would _bring another wife home_ was because she knew Rudy is responsible and honest enough that *he would try to do the right thing*. And, to Rudy, that's probably going to be 'taking responsibility'. In fact, Sylphie was correct - Rudy thought he had gotten Roxy pregnant, so he decided he would take responsibility. And he didn't try to beat around the bush or soften the blow or explain until after he had made his intentions honestly known right from the start. She explained it like this to show how much she accepted and trusted Rudy, even through his rather obvious flaws.
5: There's some time jumps in the last bit of the episode, so I'll fill in a generalized recap of how Rudy's time went after bringing Roxy home: *he was in the dog house*. He also had a self-imposed celibate period as punishment for himself, and took his betrayal of Sylphie's trust by breaking their promise extremely seriously.
6: As we can all expect, Rudy is not going to stop there. It's pretty obvious what'll happen, but the how will be a journey we all get to experience. Just keep in mind: _Mushoku Tensei is about a flawed human getting a second chance and living his life always trying to be a better person._ He will never be perfect and he'll make mistakes, lie to himself, and fail over and over again because that's the point the show is conveying around Rudy's character. And despite all that, he's still a good person because he is always trying to be a good person.

Yes, the anime didn't adapt some important things like Elinalise telling Rudeus that Roxy was "pregnant", this really gives Rudeus a push to take responsibility, taking Roxy as his wife. This is not a spoiler, as it should have already been shown. The anime simply didn't adapt this part. Furthermore, the relationship pattern in this world is quite polygamous, except for millis followers. Love the anime anyways🙆

People forgetting Paul knew what was going to go down couldn't been stopped trying to prep Rudy for it and Elinalise really pushed hard as it's in character for the both of them. They are both degenerates. Norn is like the only sane normal person in the room.
Silphy's mind set is like that because polygamy is the norm in this world, for her, that's normal and acceptable, only Milis followers believe otherwise. I find funny how people gets upset by that.
Let's give some credit to Sylphie too, she's naturally someone who thinks about others' feelings more than her own. So just because someone isn't a Millis follower, it doesn't mean they'd be okay with what transpired. For example, if Roxy was the first wife, I'm not so sure she'd be okay with what Rudy did.
The issue is that Slyphie never “wanted” him to do it, she just “considered” the possibility of him doing it. She even asked him not to do it, meaning she wanted to be the sole recipient of his love. She only accepted cuz… well, she’s a pushover (at least when it comes to Rudy) 🤣
I think the main issue here is “how” the polygamy happened. If Slyphie showed support for it from the beginning, and Roxy got a few more episodes of development, I wouldn’t have as many mixed feelings on it. Plus, the fact that the anime portrayed Roxy as someone who takes advantage of people in mourning didn’t help.
Disregarding the initial season, Slyphie got the whole season to develop a relationship with Rudy and Roxy only had 2-3 episodes. The anime simply didn’t give me enough reason to be 100% on board with it.

I wasn’t surprised Rudeus slept with Roxy while Slyphiette was pregnant with their child and then wanted to have her as his second wife. He’s like Paul in many ways, like father like son I guess.
In his defense Rudy loved Roxy first, she was the one he worshipped...than his hero arrived who he was close to since his bad days of distrust & she saved him from his current trauma making him fall in love out of desperation to feel needed. Parelleling Roxy falling for Rudeus kinda the same way.

There is a lot of inner dialogue that was skipped in previous episodes that gives a lot of context on how much the death of Paul affected Rudy, how much he struggled to overcome that situation and how long it took (a couple of weeks) until Roxy helped him accept the outcome of his trip to rescue his mother (this isn't regret, but depression). About the decision to make Roxy his wife , there was also some content that was skipped, particularly something that Elinalise tells him. There is also some dialogue and some of Sylphie's inner monologue in this episode that was skipped. Sylphie already thought that at some point Rudy was going to bring another woman (she thought it was going to be Rinia, Pursena, or Nanahoshi), and she has accepted that possibility since then. The surprise was that it was Roxy and not the others. Also, she was way more stern when telling Norn to shut up, saying that she wasn't even mad and that she shouldn't be insulting Roxy. When she accepts Roxy into the family, they promised to treat each other as equals (no one is the first or second, both are Rudy's wives).
to anyone who has a problem with Rudy's polygamy just drop the show and stop crying about it
The parallel for how much Norn has matured, and the way she strikes at Rudy during practice extra hard because of the second wife deal is just like when Rudy and Paul trained after Paul was busted for bustin'. It's neat how the dynamics play out.

I loved this episode, well, this whole season, it was incredibly good and i hope it doesn't take long for a season 3.
Norn was indoctrinated by the church and was grieving for Paul's death, so it makes sense she would lash out, especially since she usually is very vocal about things.
I also liked that Sylphy didn't care about it and accepted Roxy with open arms, after all like she said it herself, if she and roxy had switched places and Rudy was like that, she would 100% do the same thing Roxy did, and we all know she would, since she knew that was a way to cure Rudy and did that herself.
Some may think it was convenient, but it was not out of character for her tho

The biggest L of the episode was them cutting out all of Dilo's scenes, The armadillo that's pulling the cart. Rudy ends up bonding pretty heavily with it on the trip back and instead of leaving it in the desert to get eaten, Rudy took it with him and he ended up becoming a very beloved family pet.
Yeah, Dilo there until the end of LN. I wonder if they skip Beet too....

Its kind of frustrating to see people bashing on the characters based on the anime alone. Its obviously not their fault that the anime didnt explain things fully, but it'll just make it confusing to keep the two continuities separate. In reality things are so much more fleshed out in the Light novels. 17:15 The problem isnt that Rudy couldnt get over Paul's death given enough time, its that he wasnt eating and barely drinking any water. They would have most likely suffered casualties in the desert if they had rushed Rudy in that state. The party agreed that they needed to give Rudy space to grieve+recover, but only Roxy knew how Rudy dealt with trauma in the past (balling up and refusing to go out of their home) that she knew she HAD to do something to change his state of mind. It was never her intention to take Rudy away from Sylphie for herself, her intention was to help him snap out of it, but like she mentioned, she isn't a saint, she had feelings for Rudy and acted with those feelings of love in mind. Even the scene with Sylphie is different, she actually snapped at Norn to stop berating Roxy, despite her good intentions Rudy and Sylphie do not worship Millis, and Sylphie has plenty of experience with polygamy, from growing up with Rudy's family to working under Ariel and having another Greyrat (Luke) as an example of what to expect.
I mean, that's on the creators for leaving important info and context out of this adaptation. How are you gonna fault viewers for missing things that literally aren't in the show?

The problem with Rudeus isn't being polygamist, it's his infidelity. Idk why y'all act like that's excused just because he had to deal with trauma. That's immature to think that sex is the cure to depression and that's how the anime showed it. The LN and WN doesn't really matter when it comes to what was adapted in the anime.

In the book Geese floated it as a solution, but admitted it wouldn't be a 100% fix.
And even then, Roxy having sex with Rudeus wasn't a cure, it was a reset. He stopped going around in circles and opened up about his problems. The talk he had when in that clearer state got him on his feet and moving forward, but it was clear to everyone he wouldn't fully recover until he got back home, but at least he was in a condition to survive the journey. Reboot -> troubleshoot -> recovery.
But that post-coital talk should've been included as it was in the book, with Rudeus telling of _a completely fictional man_ having ruined his relationships at home, ending up in a new land and making a life for himself before making a mistake that brought those relationships back to the forefront, and with all that asking Roxy what is that _completely fictional man_ supposed to do now. They should've left out the ED for 90 more seconds of storytelling and dialogue.
i think a lot of people forget the fact that rudeus and roxie’s relationship is very similar to sylphie and rudeus. roxie is the one person rudeus respects the most and at the beginning of the season sylphie essentially thinks of rudeus in that same light.

Well to summarize, Sylphy knows the man she married, people are gonna hate what happened but this is much better than Rudy stealing time just to visit Roxy. Hate whatever you want but from the very beginning, Sylphy already mentioned that she's completely fine with Rudeus bringing another wife. If you can't bear with it then don't watch it.
6:00 This is kinda random but I really dig Lupa's social intelligence. It's funny/interesting because he'll miss huge plot points sometimes but immediately pick up on tiny character interactions and "read the room" type stuff.

There are several reasons, but these are the main ones:
1. Tengen comes from a different culture.
2. Literally his wives were given to him out of his duty as clan leader.
3. Tengen is not a hypocrite who complains that his dad cheated on his mom, and then does the same.
4. His relationship with his wives was honest from the beginning, it did not start as a pseudo-monogamy that later expanded as a result of infidelity.
Well it doesn’t help that we get a romantic arc and build up with Sylphie, so when Rudy gets with Roxy we kinda feel a bit hurt. But the anime did this a bit dirty by leaving out some integral facts and scenes.
Two different situations, Rudy said he will love her and only her than came back with another wife.
Sylphy had already talked about Rudy taking another wife, Rudy was the one originally against it. Remember, she was practically raised by Paul, zenith and Lilia, she was comfortable with the dynamic. ALSO, she was not the type to lash out at Roxy, so she sat back and let Norn do it for her lol. Only stepping in at the end once things had gone far enough.

Right, it's not done well. It's done amazing. People accept Tengen having 3 wives because "Tengen cool". Since it's Rudy, nope, Mushoku does it wrong. Demon Slayer doesn't build the relationship of the 3 wives from the start like Mushoku. Because Sylphie becomes 1st wife and we see it through Monogamous eyes, we attach the Rudy-Sylphie relationship harder and anybextra is blasphemy.
Tengen, we accept it because the 3 are already his wife so we immediately accept it right away. Not just that but since Tengen is "cool" and Rudy "isn't" then they just gave "cool" Tengen a sad little backstory about his wives and how he cares fir them equally and says they must first love and treasure themselves and blah blah, Tengen gets the polygamy pass.

Rudy isn’t supposed to be a perfect character who does the right things every time. The man is literally said to be a lolicon at the beginning of the series, Rudy being selfish with his desire to marry Roxy is the point. Just because the characters in their alternate world are able to justify all of it doesn’t mean we’re supposed to. Rudy is a realistic character, he started off incredibly scummy, and he’s a better person at this point but he’s not magically perfect now. He still has a lot of maturing to do.
He actually married her because Elinalise tricked him into thinking that Roxy was pregnant, hence why he tried to take responsibility by marrying her

Making it seem like Sylphie's lowkey a doormat that's just kinda okay with whatever Rudy does and the entire marriage proposal feel outta nowhere.
Things that could've fixed this IMO based from the LN:
-More focus on how depressed and devasted Rudy was dealing with Paul's death i.e. people giving him food but refusing to eat for weeks, locking himself up in his room till Elinalise advices Roxy to "comfort" him
-Elinalise telling Rudy that Roxy is pregnant (pressures him in his pov to actually go through with a marriage proposal)
-Sylphie speaking up for herself and scolding Norn when she was lashing out (Shows that she has agency, a backbone, and showcase that really IS okay with the Roxy marriage)

so, clarifying some points that you guy said at the discussion, by some information i got from some ln readers:
-rudeus was killing himself after paul's death. he stayed 10 days without eating or barealy drinking because of his depression.
-despite in the anime elinalise said to roxy that "rudeus would be ok", actually the opposite happens: elinalise and geese were very worried of his situation and she was the one who said that sex is what would fix rudy, and *she herself* proposes roxy to do it.
-after that elinalise felt guilty about roxy's situation. she knew that roxy dreamed of finding her perfect match, because of the time they spent together. so she pretty much persuaded rudy to marry her by saying that roxy hadn't started her period, and that she might be pregnant, not to mention the chance of someone taking advantage of roxy if she separates from her lover.
This makes the situation even worse lmaooo. They manipulated Rudeus so that he married Roxy

- it was geese the one who sugested someone to sleep with Rudeus

- Talhand was the one saying "Rudeus is going to be ok, He is Paul's son", Geese and Elinalise agreed with they were clearly not hopeful about it, it was more a "I hope so" than "yeah that's totally how it is going to end"
- Elinalise didn't feel guilty about anything, she just wanted for everyone to be happy and that's why she did what she did.
- "he chance of someone taking advantage of roxy if she separates from her lover." it is implied that Elinalise experienced something similar
The item in the room at the teleportation circle looks like it's Dragon God Orsted's jacket. Since he knows where they are and does use them.
Just so you guys know in this world being in a monogamous relationship is actually rare. Only one religon practice it that religion is called Millis and that just so happens to be the religion Norn, Cliff and Zenith believe in (this is why Norn gets so mad even though Paul did the same thing) but other than that its pretty common for people to take on more than one partner this is why Sylphy was so ok with taking on Roxy as a second wife. Also Sylphy knew the moment she got with Rudy that he would stray because as she mentioned he has a high sex drive and is a pervert (this is actually common in all Greyrat men just look at Paul and Luke) Sylphy is actually more afraid of Rudy getting tired of her and leaving her then she is Rudy taking on another partner as that again is common not just in his family but in the society the live in minus the Followers of Millis.

we've seen her speak about how greyrats are chasing down all the women... and she was thinking to herself "i bet rudy is gonna do the same" when she was still "fitz" walking around with ariel and luke.
The book goes even further, with her thinking he'd do the same when they get married and how she'd be the mediator when he gets four or more wives. Her getting bummed out wasn't the thought of him chasing women, but how getting married to him was a pipe dream for her.

To maybe give you a better understanding userstanding, Rudy was lied to by Elinalise in then novel that Roxy was pregnant on their journey back home from Begaritt. She told Rudy she hadn’t had her period since they slept together (2 months, anime sped over the travel). Rudy sat and thought about this a lot in the novel vs the anime made it seem like a decision he came to pretty quickly after just 1 talk with Elinalise.
He initially after thinking it over was still not gonna marry Roxy, until Elinalise manipulated him to
Roxy was Rudeus' guardian angel. Both when he was a child and couldn't face the outside world, and as an adult trying to face his father's death. I wouldn't say his motivation for loving Roxy is weak.
His motivation for loving Roxy is similar to his motivation for loving Sylphie. It took a year for him to fall in love with Sylphie's alias, but it started with her helping him out when he was accosted by the girls' dorm militia, and fully cemented when she got him out of the hole he'd been in for years.

From what I understand there is no need for "lots" of reasoning to merry two wives in this fantasy world. Polygamy is also common today in some countries and used to be way more popular in the past in even more. Fun fact even polyandry used to be common in places like Tiber and Nepal
But what these "Common" people don't understand at all is that polygamy is a thing but they can't understand it due to their monogamy logic... Poor people or normal people won't go for polygamy due to poverty issues... But guys that's only in today's standards.. in olden days polygamy can work only if they accepted it since they don't work for money that much since they only need to farm food and they can build the rest themselves... For those thinking Rudus got off with no consequences naw he definitely has one. Norn. He went through great lengths to win her trust and respect only to taint that with this situation. While Syphy ultimately had the final say Norn probably has residual resentment and respect issues going forward same way Rudy was with his dad after finding out about Lilia.
Skipped conversation in the novel when Norn asks Rudy for sword lessons she states after Rudy acts surprised that she doesn't not hate him but just disapproves if his actions.
But at the end of the episode when sylphie gives birth, we see Norn and Roxy holding hands admiring the baby

I don't think enough people fully understand why Rudy got with Roxy. It's more than just "oh I like you let's get married". Roxy saved Rudy from depression she helped him feel for the first time in his existence mental freedom. Then he hit what is possibly his lowest point in his new life, and she saved him from that grief too. Plus imo I think if he had of met her on demon continent late in S1 they would've fallen in love much earlier in the story, but Hitogami kept him away from her for reasons I'm still trying to figure out.
Plus I've always shipped Rudy and Roxy since episode 1. I was like "Aight he'll grow up and you'll fall for him and happily ever after". So I'm less bothered by their relationship it just makes sense plus y'know there's cut content that I'm sure adds needed context to make this ordeal better.

@@lilmisfits77 You seem to misunderstand. I'm not justifying what they've done. I'm saying the situation would've been the same with Sylphie had he of met Roxy first. Had he of met Roxy first I firmly believe they would've fallen in love and eventually gotten married. Then if he met Sylphie second the situation would've happened with her as well. Rudy's a flawed guyy and he's by no means a good guy, but he is a very well written character with purposeful flaws. Plus Roxy's a very important character to Rudy's growth. Him choosing to be with her was going to happen no matter what. It doesn't help that most of us as the audience practice Monogomy and the world of MT is fine with both Monogomy and Polygamy. Rather then get mad about it we just need to remember, this is the grandfather of isekai at the end of the day.

The anime didn’t show off the time frame really well, Rudy was in a really bad mental state for a month before Roxy finally did anything with Rudy and only after that did Rudy put himself together enough to take the trip back home.
Also the weird problem with taking advantage is that if you sacrifice just as much as you gain then that wording doesn’t really make sense, Roxy 100% wanted a relationship with Rudy but she didn’t want to do it in that situation or way if she had the option.
Everyone wants the prize but if the prize is tainted then what was the point winning in the end, Roxy sacrificed her own character to help Rudy move forwards and that comes at a cost which Roxy was willing to pay.
The world Rudy is in rn, Polygamy is not so uncommon, on top of Sylphie grew up watching Paul and his two wives, so it kinda make sense
Plus the years she spent in asura where polygamy is a common thing
He was unfaithful, she gave him the chance and he literally said he wouldn't. The trauma dump to justify Rudy's infidelity and evolving harem was lazy writing. The show doesn't make the context that you provide known, that's on the writers.

Considering how much of a brute Eris is towards Rudeus, and the fact that she went off far away to make herself stronger, I feel like she's just gonna force her way into Rudy's circle like "marry me or I kill you". xD
I wouldnt even be surprised if Eris does become the third wife. Rudeus's "Shrine" all consists of stuff that belongs to his wives.
