Ayla! This old rocker Dad loved this lesson. You‘ve given me enough to work on until next Father’s Day! Great lesson, from an amazing musician. Thanks!
I was 10 years old in 1963 and heard Beatles, Rolling Stones, Who, Cream, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin ALL for the first time amazing time for music as ALL this music "Blew Our Minds" there was still 50's and Elvis being played and Old Country Music. It was overwhelming for me, I love music but at the time I got hung up with certain groups. We used to carry our vinyl records to parties playing them for each other. Later on with age I began to appreciate an amazing time in music and discovered Jazz. Living through those times I cannot possibly have any favorite as I am still listening and processing ; ) Thank You for Insight ; )
i was more of a tony orlando and dawn, sonny and Cher, johnny cash, 3DN and CCR kind of guy. but that first one still penetrated my conscience. probably because it constantly emanated from the juke box while i was making pizza at my after-school job.
Right up my alley. Been playing those songs for 40 years and I'm a dad. You play and teach very well. And play some beautiful guitars! Oh, and you nail those original guitar tones.
Ayla, you are such a great teacher and your musicality is incredible to me. Thanks a lot for the lesson. Very cool. Dad in a Dad band approved! Cheers.
I am a dad and I DID...and still do..."rock out to these songs"! I was a preteen when Free was first played on the radio in the car. My mom didn't understand why I liked the song...lol. Great video! Thanks!
Thank you Ayla. Very complete vid. Tabs, clear vid on fingering, chapter separation with song ID in description, and clear concise explanation and demo. A1 and Thank you. Tutorials like this make dad's happy. 😁👌
51 year old Dad here and I applaud you expanding on these iconic riffs. But it's something I gotta do whenever anyone mentions Jet Airliner... many don't know that this is not a Steve Miller original. Song was written by the late great Paul Pena and recorded on his album New Train, originally intended for release in 1973, but not released until many years later, due to record label issues at the time. Steve Miller heard the unreleased album and recorded his own version, which is very much in Steve Miller band style and not bad - but Pena's original is funkier, more soulful and arguably superior. Highly worth your time to check out. And to be fair, FWIW, the royalties from SMB's single version provided a steady income for Paul Pena for many years including covering medical costs for his and his wife's health issues.
Brilliant choices Ayla. Love this channel. Have a peak at 70’s Wishbone Ash, especially the less common tracks at the time “Lady Jay” and “Persephone”. Great guitar work there from Ash, beautiful solos. 👍🎸🎸
So many iconic riffs from that music period I am sure it was hard to choose and the ones you picked are legendary. Another I think everyone should be able to play on some instrument is Smoke on the Water.
I just wanted to say that I really love your lessons Ayla. You’ve got a great natural way of teaching. A true inspiration for an aspiring instructor like myself. Keep up the great work!
I was going to concerts when these songs were new. They are timeless. And hard to find the creation of these sounds today. Did you enjoy playing them Ayla?
Hello Ayla. I enjoy watching and learning from you every Friday. Thank you for putting together this Dad Riff set. Speaking for the Dads, "we greatly appreciate you". You asked for some more favorite riffs, well I'll leave that up to you to compose. But I would very much like if you performed and taught "Dig a Pony" by The Beatles. Thanks Ayla and have a fabulous weekend! - JB
1973 was 50 years ago, this is grand-dad rock. The White Stripes are fricking dad rock by now. I'm a dad and 2nd generation rock'n'roller so I know what I'm talking about here.
Not technically a Dad, but I grew up in that era. Thank you so much for the lesson. I was able to figure out most of these riffs on my own, but the magic is in the little details. There always seemed to be one or two things I was never able to wrap my noggin around, so much thanks for the illuminations. I would challenge you to try and figure out some classic riffs from Killing Joke. Geordie’s playing has always befuddled me. His chord choices are…interesting.

Recently I looked at the latest iteration of the beloved 'dad rock' compilation album and I was a bit taken aback to see that Paramore, MCR, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and all that made the list. Does that mean I'm getting on?
As a kid growing up in the 2000s one of my first classic rock songs I liked was All right now. Me and my mom had this crappy car that had a cassette player in it and a bag full of cassettes from the past owner of the car and there was one that had random hit songs on it and All right now was one of them. I think it also had Tom Sawyer by Rush and shake it up by The Cars.
To this day these riffs are probably better than anything that anyone during this era has come up with in my humble opinion . There's a lot of younger bands there's a trio of sisters from Monterrey called the Warning , Plush another young band of young ladies that can carry the torch of Rock and Roll
Was watching some videos from y’all’s drum channel, the “Genius Of” playlist, and thought I’d stop by to see if they had anything cool in the guitar channel. Sadly there is no similar playlist here, are y’all gonna do a Genius Of series at all for guitarists?
Speaking of dads. I saw a video that showed you your mom and dad' and I wanna say your little brother (?). Now I cant remember where or what channel. But you were 10 maybe ish. LoL Any clue about what I'm speaking of? It was a guitar video I imagine. Ok love the videos!! Awesome teaching and just fun stuff!!
This seems more like grandpa rock these days. I raised my kids on Kiss, Megadeth, Pantera, AIC, Soundgarden, Queensryche and Van Halen. But i do like the video

63 year old Dad here. These ARE Dad Riffs! Fun and well done!
59 year old dad, here. Yeah, these riffs totally rock. And yeah, I rocked out to these riffs back in the '70's! Thanks! :)

None of those artists existed in 1963 except The Beatles, and they had not broken yet in The US.
I’m a Grandpa, and I like to rock !!! Great job 👏
Great Classic Rock riff compilation!
Signed, A Dad
You know it is very refreshing to see a young lady into the type of music that u teach at your age.i think it's great thanks a bunch
Plus not only do u teach it you rock it out.fantastic
i was more of a tony orlando and dawn, sonny and Cher, johnny cash, 3DN and CCR kind of guy. but that first one still penetrated my conscience. probably because it constantly emanated from the juke box while i was making pizza at my after-school job.

Great choices. I'm not a dad, but those are great dad rock tunes. (My dad introduced me to Free on cassette)
Legit you are so good at teaching the guitar, I wish I had a guitar teacher like this as a child.
Thank you Ayla. Very complete vid. Tabs, clear vid on fingering, chapter separation with song ID in description, and clear concise explanation and demo. A1 and Thank you. Tutorials like this make dad's happy. 😁👌

This young lady is a great guitarist, and stellar teacher - from a guitar playing dad!
Those are all awesome picks Ayla! Every guitarist needs those riffs in their tool kit for sure.

"Right or Wrong" by Wishbone Ash is one of the best riffs of my youthhood! Dads were able to rock by then! :))
I'm a dad and yep... All good.. Thanks for posting
I never get over how fine that Les Paul looks. 🤩
It is an awesome color
Brilliant choices Ayla. Love this channel. Have a peak at 70’s Wishbone Ash, especially the less common tracks at the time “Lady Jay” and “Persephone”.
Great guitar work there from Ash, beautiful solos. 👍🎸🎸

As a 70 yr old yes these are the best❤
Love the whole content -
As I gaze upon my 23 year old son and just remember what life was like 40 years ago 😍

Any Boston song, Don't look Back?, would be a bonus! Thanks very much.

Good job Ithanks
@Text Me On Telegram Guitareo why do I get a prize? I just said thanks. It was a great video
This is great! Thank you for posting this. Great riffs to play and hang out with. Can you a lesson on the Sweet Child of Mine riff?
You are So Kool 👌💕🙋
Carry On Wayward Son is my favorite.

Highway to Hell is so much fun to play. And yes, I’m a dad born in the 1970s
Dad here, well done ATM
It would be great if you mentioned what effects you are using for each tune.
I justt fell in love 🥰 😂🤣😅🤣😂
Ayla Awesome!
please do us something of Ali Farka Toure's music. Which by the way is the rare Blues style (probably played with a single chord)
What modeler are you using?
Paul Kossoff ❤️🎼🎸🎵
Cooool 😎👍
Nice
@Text Me On Telegram-Guitareo wow! Is this for real. Thank you ❤
