Thank you for sharing the Kinect handle files, I'm getting one printed this weekend. I do appreciate it. And the idea of using your phone as a PC screen is very clever. Thanks again.
@@Make-it-work I just got my handle and built my sensor, thank you so much again. It looks really good. Well this convinced me to buy the kinect. Used ones are like 25 dollars in Amazon. I have a bunch of 3d printers from a voron 2.4, a prusa mk3s bear upgrade, a Taz 5 ratrig vcast idex widebody and a prusa mini. All top of the line hardware eu in y y yy

I've been trying to see the max detail one can achieve with a kinect v1 and most of what I see isn't so great. I dunno if you know for sure or not but would a better system yield more accurate scans while also maintaining the faster speeds or is it the same quality just quicker? I definitely always see cheap laptops and the like being used to scan so I've been hopeful a 12 core system with 32 gigs of ram and a RTX 3080 might be able to process higher quality meshes?
The detail will always be the same. But it makes a huge difference if the system is not powerful enough to hold the 30 FPS you lose tracking so fast it's night and day difference 15 FPS to 30. Also as of last time I used it you cannot use a 20 or 30 series graphics card my 3090 is not supported at all you have to go back to the GTX card or it will process using your CPU instead. So every time I go to 3D scan with my desktop I have to pull out my 3090 and reinsert my 1070 TI =(
Hi. Kindly tell me which version of kinect is used. As I searched and came to know that all kinect sensor versions not work as 3d scanner so i am confused about which version should I buy. Thank you.
The slower the better.(if you go too fast for the FPS It will lose tracking And the slower you go, the more detail you get It caps out at 30 FPS With the best hardware and it doesn't work with RTX cards so a 1080TI is the most powerful graphics card it works with Or you're going to be limited to CPU) I've never timed the rotation speed. But. I'm going about as fast as I can in the video. So make sure it's spinning slower than what you see in the video.(ignore the animated part That's not necessarily accurate speed, that's just for demonstration)
Yeah sorry it's all filmed but editing is not my strong suit and since there didn't seem to be much interest I haven't been eager to get started since I wouldn't be surprised if it took me 40 plus hours to edit
In my research people preferred the 360 connect, But I believe a lot of that has to do with the fact that there The best software is only available for the 360 though you do have to pay for it whereas the Xbox One has available free software, but it's pretty junky. and does not work with the software for the 360.

I have tried some of them and they also work good And as to mounting the phone to the back of the scan act if you buy a cheap case for your phone from the dollar store, you could hot glue it, or you could temporarily just tape or zip tie Your phone to it
I used the turntable from an old living room chair. And then the drill is connected to a gear reduction box I created that reduces the speed of the drill down two a shaft that's wrapped in rubber from a bicycle tire so it has a nice friction surface against the round wood turntable but so it keeps a solid connection the plastic piece is on sliders and I have two bungie's pulling it towards the turntable

that totally depends on how successful your initial scan was I have had really good scans that I can export and import straight into a slicer and it works and I have had other ones That can take up to 8 hours of editing in blender to get right I plan to eventually do a video on the process

Can you please make a video guide on how to assemble the turntable?
Would be great if they added iPhone support since it’s so hard to find these Kinect 360. The iPhones have depth camera and LiDAR.

what a cool vid .. i especially like your diy turntable :O ..are the plans for that online anywhere ??

Hi there, greetings from a Brazil. How you connect the Kinect onto your phone?
I am not I am just using a remote desktop software so the phone is controlling the computer that's controlling it
Great! And... You printed the model from this video? Does it have good details?
Got a question, what gear ratio are you using on your turntable?
Not sure on how to do the math on that but it wasn't quite enough here you can calculate it yourself www.thingiverse.com/thing:4891235
