It is always amazing to see how one (old) technology such as the kinematic can also be used for a completely different use-case. Also thanks for the quick blender tutorial :)!
I plan on doing this soon but I’m hanging a overhead rig with a gimbal to hold the kinetic and the person just has to stand in the middle and the gimbal rig can be moved around manually or even better connect a servo for a perfect scanning. Great video , hope it inspires many like it has me. 🙌
*just tested* The Remesh trick to get rid of noise or holes is going to save me quite a bit of time in the future with photogrammetry scans. Thank you!
Thanks for your tutorial. I used 'Reconstructme' to scan my children, but the free Kinect software from the SDK (I already had installed) works even better.
Very tender the last "poke!" and all the video is very interesting! at 06:39 in the inverted view the face is, strangely, more defined than the "official" side. Bye
Hey , I have a question. I have a sense 3d scanner, an Asus Xtion Pro and a kinect. Is it possible to modify and add a laser to the scanner. Can we scan these better?
Skanect is an awesome tool for 3d scanning. It can make the mesh watertight with one button, and chop the bottom off in Z for 3d printing. $129 and you can skip the blender while scanning.
Very interesting! I like your approach! Oh, and by the way, the subject in this experiment is much better of the kitten of previous 3D scanner video ;-)
Excellent demo bro. You're all the way up there getting data from kinect. While I'm still down here using arduino + servo + ultrasonic range finder. Haha. Keep it up man !
Waw, congratulations ! This is a really interesting cool video ! I love your work ! I'm a novice at 3D printing and you learn me a lot. To improve my scanning/printing skills I wonder if I could lend your Kinect and model. I understand lending your Kinect is maybe a little delicate. In that case, I'll start with the model only.
have you tried Photogrammetry before ? using a programm to convert a series of photos to create a 3D model. it would be nice to see a video about it next time, thanks
I'd rather use Meshmixer and not Blender to fix and clean up the scan mesh. Guess if you worked with Blender before, it works basically the same. But for someone who is unfamiliar with Blender, it might be a bit overwhelming to get started, because it can do so much more stuff. Meshmixer is more purpose built just for a specific task.
I tried and have issue with kinnect v2 displaying x translated capture in the window.. And i find quality to be not good like in your try.. it is far from a good quality 3d scan to me.. may be some better apps use kinnect 3d scan a better way... Or using kinnect for motioncapture seams more a quality result..
Please don't use the word "hack" in everything. You're just using an app called Blender. Otherwise we'll start calling wordprocessing "word hacks" and cooking "ingredients hacks"
sorry about that... it's just for the click bait. blame youtube for preferring to serve crappy to the people. I could change the title to "Unbelievable top 10 blender tricks caught on camera." 😂
Perhaps not a blender hack but can we say its a kinect hack as it is being used for something other than its original purpose. Perhaps not strictly the definition of hack but it is a loose term it seems.
@@kissingfrogs I'm late, but this is being used for one of it's reason. It wasn't the main reason the connect was first created, but it evolved into this and microsoft supported this as a kinect functionality officially.

Brilliant work !. I love the internationally recognized body language for " uhh..at last" @ 2:38 and the " Don't ask me to redo this video" @8:58.
6:39 optical illusion :-D

Nice work! I made my own adapter for the kincet, I just added a 12 volts source and connected some wires..
I tought of this to make it completely mobile.. with the adapter you are chained to the wall
Hayder Jawad
Me too
That poor poor woman!! ... it is amazing what our significant others put up with isn’t it? :)
Very nice video! I'm amazed about the possibilities of the kinect.
And this was even possible ages ago
bitluni's lab And still, I've never heard of this method before. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful (3D) model! 👍
Thanks for your tutorial. I used 'Reconstructme' to scan my children, but the free Kinect software from the SDK (I already had installed) works even better.
2:30 - We tried different poses too.
No t-pose? How its possible?
Crazy quality scan, I didn't know this was possible with gen1. Kinect. Better than what you get from A thousand dollar dedicated scanner
you discovered hot water!
haha her patience is infinite :p . Blender live long and prosper! Great 3d prints!
Very patient 3D model.
This was a really good and informative episode! Thank you! :)

Awesome video! I really enjoyed the blender part! I am looking forward to more blender "hacks" :D
great video, it had a lot of good Blender tips

He He He... yeah probably that's why I uploaded this. $10 and $40 is not a huge difference. The other scanner ist rather to serve the curiosity

First! How much loving did it require to convince her to do this video with you lol. 7 nights of candle light dinners, 4 nights of dish washing..
Firstn't
Phizicks It's all about little details, but we can't talk about them on TH-cam.

Have you tried Autodesk Recap? It does the same without any 3D equipment.
Next project: baby learning toys!
You need to get those started now and work on little ones to use it on 😊
Very nice. You should collaborate with Marco Reps, or is he too weird for your taste?
Hi Bitluni, cant you make a good VR glasses for us with an easy tutorial?
I tried and have issue with kinnect v2 displaying x translated capture in the window..

For some reason my camera doesn't show up when i launch the program.
I remember people saying that the Xbone Kinect was worse for 3D scanning and that the original one (for 360) is better.
That's very cool!
What app you used for de kinect
Great video!!!
Damn, you beat me to it. Thanks
I loved this vid
Very cool
Nice! But can u plz make medical like body scanners and all?
you mean CT and MRI?
bitluni's lab yes,sort of,and more,what medical scanners and machines u know?
hi Sir! Kinect can be used for scanning car parts?fenders or bumpers?Thank you
The 360 Kinect has frustrated me to no end as a 3D scanner.
Nice
Fantastic
I love HERZ Filament, sadly the price has gone up. Time to look for a new supplier...
Herz was my first filament back then.. they were selling on ebay 😁
Kral...
awesome !!!
Sometimes its better to be second :-)
9€ Kinect at cash converter, ... Just need a 12v alimentation and old usb cable. No need an adaptator :)
you dont even need the windows adaptor for the kinect 2

did you have doubts about this?
