My nail tech does full sets of gel with tips in 40m. I love that! Now i do my acrylic nails myself in 90 minutes and i’m kinda proud of it 😇

Tracey! You bloody smashed it! 45min on full long sculptured set. Too bloody amazing. As much as I do like talking with my clients. I want them walking in and out, so that the money keeps coming in. (Only way to keep the business running.) I’m going to have to watch this over a hundred more times to work out how to bring my time down.
I know my time is taken up when doing form placements and shaping. These two are the only thing I don’t have down yet. Everything else I have it a little easier now.
There’s no classes anywhere near where I am, so thank you guys so, so much for holding these kinds of videos. To someone like me, each video means the world. Much love. Xx 💋

Start shaving 5 minutes at a time. My teacher said to write down how long it took to do each step and keep a running notepad next to you. I am going to do that by service type as they are all different.

When you switched to the end of your brush it reminded me of a trick I use: when applying clear hard gel over loose glitter, to keep from getting glitter in my brush I use a toothpick to pick up the gel and float it over the glitter. The toothpick can be easily wiped clean with a lint-free wipe and a little cleanser to keep using it for the same set...or toss it and use a fresh pick for the next scoop of gel since they are not very expensive.
The toothpick does a great job of getting the gel to cover down the side of the nail, without flooding the sidewall/cuticle area.

I totally appreciate you talking about the struggle that you had with gel and the drill. I was booked 6 months in advance back 20 years ago. Got carpal tunnel and tendinitis and then had my son. So I cut my schedule and now take care of only family and friends. You guys have rekindled my passion again and it's nice to hear that someone successful as you are had some issues to work through. It helps me to feel that I don't suck now....lol
    Thank you

  • @MichellsAdventures

This was fabulous! I’m allergic to monomer so I only do gels and I’ve been waiting for this Real Time like I wait for Game of Thrones. 😆
I could see so many places where I’m over thinking and and just fudging the Gel too much while I was watching Tracey do this set. I also get all in my head and start worrying when my client is inspecting their nails before they put their hand in the light every-frikkin-time. I always have to tell them, “I know they look like marshmallows now but I promise they’ll look good...just bear with me until I start filing.”
Also, fun fact...I recently got a roll of YN forms. Freaking game changer! The other brand of forms I was using were so crummy, I could only form one finger at a time or they would come loose or fall completely off. Being able to form an entire hand at once has saved me so much time as well. Quality products make a WORLD of difference.
Thanks again for always posting amazing content. You guys rock!

But of course that is not the case and I have to have to get faster and of course you guys are addressing that and letting me continue my journey with you. I like how you said that the light keeps their hands still. I used that just today while doing a gel manicure on a client with learning disabilities. She was fascinated with the lights so I suggested to her that it was a good place to keep her hands quiet. Worked like a charm.

I’m rewatching this video (I love doing that, I save the videos that are helpful and specific to how I do nails and rewatch) and I want to say thank you for saying “don’t go out tomorrow and start e filing everyone, ease into it”. I was at the NailPro show in Sacramento on Sunday and Rhiannon did a whole gel nail on me and then did an airbrush demo on another nail. She showed me how she efiles the finish file and then hand files to perfect the sides. Seeing it in person was so helpful and I love the idea of saving my wrists. So I bought the bits needed and efiled my client on Tuesday. She’s very specific about how she likes her nails so it usually takes me 20-30 minutes to finish file. With the efile it took me an hour 😂😂😂😂 she loved them though and I dare say they really were the best I’ve done because of how flush I got the cuticle with the safety bit. Even using the hand file I can’t get it as flush. I’m definitely needing to practice because an hour to file is BS!! I guess I need to pull Becky (my trainer hand) out of the closet!!!

Thank you !! I have been waiting for this one and I see what I’m doing wrong and that is trying to be too fussy about sculpting the gel on perfectly. I was taught to sculpt with my brush not the file, but clearly your method is much faster. I’ve been doing gels for 15 yrs and can’t seem to get full sets done in under 2 hrs! Will definitely be giving this a try and challenging myself next full set i do. Beautiful set btw !!

Great tricks and tips. I've been trained in Europe and few things I would add that Ive learnt is get a dust collector its very helpful when you do gel nails. Wear gloves, it's mendatory in EU actually :) and mask is also great idea to have to protect you from dust.
Regarding the heat spike its called POLYMERIZATION, make sure your clients take the hand away from the lamp, it's damaging nail plate and its not healthy for the nails. Great inspiration video. thank you

This was SO helpful! I've been considering gel extensions for my first time, but have been concerned about the durability. I'm on meds that make my nails this and brittle, so I wear extensions -- so far acrylic -- with monthly manis. I haven't had a mani since March, thanks to COVID, so my current nails are HORRENDOUS. I do prefer a "squoval" (straight ends with rounded corners) shape, though.

Hey you only need to practise and practise. My very first time doing extension (only the extension not the nailart), it tooks me 5 hours. Luckily it's my cousin so i didn't really feel bad.
And a year ago i start my nail salon bussiness. I do extension for 2 hours. Now is almost 1 year since i start, and i took me 1,5 hours to do extension.
You should see from the positive side, you have to see video like this as your motivation "if she can, of course i can do it too".
She's fast, bcs probably she start the nailart earlier than you, or maybe she often doing it like everyday bcs young nails are famous. I believe everyday they had client ask them for extension.

I'm not trying to sound harsh.. Taking just a little more time on a clean application you basically cut out all the filing time. My clients would complain if I just globbed product on like that. I've never used the end of my brush, but I do scult the tips with an orange wood stick. I do love Young nail products though and it's great to see how different everyone does nails. Unless I'm painting or adding designs it usually takes me 45 minutes per full set, but I do very minimal filing.

Yes you can, but you want to make sure you are removing the tacky layer.

Really great video to show that gel is not slower than acrylic! And they came out beatiful 😍😘👏 I am NOT perfect when it comes to nails at all. And I am not arguing with you on these things but there are some points that I do not fully agree with you on🤐 There are maybe quicker to use acrylic on some clients than others, but you can extend the nailbed on a nail biter with a good form fit. The same with a skijump nails, with a good form placement and filling up the well on the nailplate before you sculpt it all. Also if you can not get a good enough c-curve with gel it also comes down to the form placement and you can definitely pinch a gel nail also. So I would say that if you are more comfortable with working with acrylic in the first place it goes faster to use acrylic on those *problem* nails than with gel. But I would not say that it is not possible. And another thing..with a client that has a lot of problems around and with the cuticle..you have a brilliant new e-file. You do not need chemicals or moist to remove anything when you can do a safe dry e-file manicure. That is of course an additional cost for it. And for everyone else that may read this...-do not mistake an e-file manicure with a *Russian* manicure. Love that trick with the scotch tape at the end of the credit card. I will use that😁👍 That is my only problem with having long nails that I can think about on the top of my head, lol. Thank you so much for making this video on this much-needed subject 😘💕💕

You can also pinch hard gel. But not every gel

emil piankowski This is true and I do and can get a pinch with gel, however I feel I can get a better and faster pinch with acrylic, that is why I use acrylic on nail biters. If I have to use gel on them, I will pinch my forms more so the C-curve is built in and the flash cure the Base and then pinch...all which is going to take more time. However it’s all preference I guess.

Gels are worth the heat spike. For me gel lasts longer than acrylic and rarely lift. I usually do both. I like to put the gel over the acrylic nails at the end. I do the same with polygel

its not worth any heat spikes. heat spikes can potentially harm you, onycholysis. so no, not worth it. if you feel any heat take your hand out immidiately.

I wanna see you guys work with a client with difficult cuticles because on this "client" everything is already pushed back ready to go so there's not much to do but in the real life I get clients where they have really thick and long and difficult eponychiums and they might need more time what do I do then

In nail school in Canada and the focus for enhancements was completely the opposite - primarily gel with a short acrylic segment. That being said, we didn't get much help learning how to use gel either.
