    Bruh! I kept saying to myself, “She is effing HAULING!” The whole time. 😆 The more of these that I watch, the more I realize that I’m overthinking like...every freaking step in the process...all of it.
    I actually had my friend come for a fill with gel polish (removal and application) and told her to stop me if she noticed I was obsessing over something. I still took my time and was thorough but once I got through with each step, I didn’t go back and do it again.
    That shaved 30 min off my time right off the bat.
    Granted, it still took me an hour BUT! That included filing off the gel polish, prep, the gel fill, and reapplication of gel polish with dotting tool nail art on all ten fingers.
    I had to pat myself on the back for that and give you guys a shout for all the amazing content. You guys are the bomb. Thank you!

      michell2003 I feel the same! EVERYONE says I’m too nit picky😭I’m going to try this idea and ask the model to stop me when I obsess and see where that gets me. Thanks for sharing!

    This is a great series! I swear it’s sped up my time. I’ve actually started challenging myself. I really need a hard gel set in this series. It takes me so much longer than my acrylic sets, and I need to know what I’m doing wrong!

    Yes Tracy and Stephanie, not forgetting Habib. I am in love with the Real Time series. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
    Can you do a filing series, more like how to correct filing errors- when you file too much on one side, the lower arches aren't even and the acrylic is thin already...I am going with the the best thing is knowing how to correct your mistake theme.

    Lots of great advice here! I just finished creating my very first full set at home as it took me 7hrs! So I’ve been wondering to myself if that’s how long it really takes when you first start out. Thanks Tracey for putting me at ease with my learning process about that. I hope to be able to do nails this fast some day.

    Yes! Love this one! Practice is key. I have to learn to talk and work and not to be distracted. When your practicing on friends and family I think it harder because they want to talk! I’m going to start having a timer next to me and tell them I trying to get down my time. I agree with Tracey when she said not to worry about little imperfections and spend time refining things. It’s real life not a photo shoot! Let It Go!

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! It's hard to not tend to look up when talking. Timing yourself is good, not to rush just to be aware of how much time you need.

    These are beautiful nails! I am obsessed with glitter and mylar :) I can't help but feel like they were a little rushed though, there were some clear gaps of topcoat towards the cuticle area.

  • @j9collins186
    @j9collins186 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got tired of nail tech's rushing because the shop would get busy. Places that accept walk-ins, customers would start piling in, so my nail tech would start rushing my appointment and it was obvious in the end result. This happened too often, so I taught myself how to do acrylics. I do my own and family members. I get better each time, but it does take me 2 hours, 3 if I do something fancy. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I need to work on that and stop over-thinking. Your videos are a huge help to me, so thank you for providing this amazing service 😊

    Watched this and loved that it was real time. Absolutely loved the design so I did it myself and I’m impressed with how they look. I remembered what you said about it doesn’t matter if it looks a holy mess, let the drill do the work AND don’t over think it and it worked! I could sit and star at it all day, it’s hypnotising! I used some coloured crushed shells in mine too. Only had silver Mylar but effective. I’ve just received an order for a set of 9 different pots of Mylar and I’m in Mylar Heaven. This design is SO me and this will be my holiday set. Thank you so much for showing and sharing and explaining so clearly, in real time 💅🏻👏🏻🏆🙋‍♀️🇬🇧💐

    Omg its taking me about 3 to 4 hours as a newbie for a full set/fill struggling with clients that come from other salons with super bulky nails alot of lifting packed on product as far as glitters and etc.. Then I waste time on practically "starting over". How do i get clients to be open about what is on their nails previous to me doing them? So I can schedule accordingly

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Photos! Luckily we live in the era of texting. Always request photos before the appt to see what you are working with and it is very common to deny working over another techs work. You could request they arrive with naked nails.

      Text every client that theres a removal fee if u have to remove their naila and start from beginning. That is if they have nails from other people u will have to juge it upon arrival and filing cause u cant usually see it well on a pic.
      And if they damage ur work by biting on the sides of the nails and making them lift, u cant really fix that in a good time its better to just remove them and start over but charge a fee and new set price. I charge 10to15 dollars for removal WITH a new set. 25-30 dollars only removal no new set.

They want something with art but they don't know what. It's very hard for me to focus on my work, focus on talking to them and come up with an idea they will like. I recently started charging for art (thanks to you guys) so I also don't know how to tell them well I have an idea you will like but it will cost you 😅

      Lol! Good for you for charging. Try to use that to come up with an idea together, start with "what is your budget?" Then go from there, "ok what colors are we feeling today..." etc.

      Slowy Grrrbear - I keep a set of chakra stones in my desk and I have the client pick the one they are drawn to the most. Then we pick a color scheme from there. I find that color therapy is just as helpful on your nails as shirts or colored lenses for glasses. The color of the stone doesn’t necessarily correspond to the chakra that is unbalanced, if that makes sense. Hematite corresponds to your root chakra and it’s a beautiful dark grey but your root chakra is red. I always have a happy client when we do it that way and it doesn’t take long at all.

    I think, like anything that is a learned skill, it is the practice which not only hones technique but also how fast you are able to do that thing. Cooking is another example and my previous career. My first wedding cakes took AGES and the more I practised the faster I became. We used styrofoam forms that were sealed so we could practice frosting on them. I think what made me so fast at nail extensions was having two practice hands. Not just a finger, but a full hands and running fill sets. It's not a 100% analogue for a human, but it is worth the investment if you are serious. The conversation is a little one-sided, however ;) At least they are not indecisive or in a hurry.

      Haha! totally agree! Technique first speed second and that comes with repetition. The 2 trainer hands is a great suggestion.

      @@rachbeth86 don't you just want to do royal icing designs or a traditional basket weave or something the like sometimes and have no idea how in the hell you could? At least I do :)

    • @rachbeth86
      @rachbeth86 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenn W omg YES!! I've been thinking too how cool it would be to create a clear icing and "encapsulating" edible flowers and designs in cakes and bringing techniques used on nail work to cakes too. How cool would that be tho seriously?? Lol I don't do cakes near as much these days tho, basically just for my family now, but I always try to think outside the box for unique designs on nails for sure! I found snake skin under my deck a couple years ago and started using it in nail art and those nails always turn out bomb! I'm always so amazed with all the different unique things you can bring to the table with nails!

      @@rachbeth86 could you just imagine how stunning a sugared violet would look? And imagine laying nasturtiums across all 5 nails so it patterns out? Like a nice bright orange and purple over a pale soft green?

    I noticed that you added clear acrylic to the glitter. correct?? Is that necessary or just what you do.I don't do that. But,I think I'll try it. I am a DIY and I do all of my friends and neighbors nails. But id love your input. I've noticed you are straight to the point and a go getter. I appreciate your information and videos, thank you for the education

      When working with acrylic, you generally have to combine the glitter with the acrylic in some form. In this video, she is showing how to pre-mix the acrylic powder with the glitter. Here's a video to show another option to use your glitter with acrylic. th-cam.com/video/no0hOrehhOE/w-d-xo.html
      If you are using hard gel or gel polish, there are other ways of incorporating the glitter into the gel.

    I love how Tracey talks about the process not needing to be pretty -that's definitely something I struggle with because a lot of techs on ig post these "acrylic laid before filing" pictures where they already look perfect and it's just not acheivable for me. But I agree with you, if the end result is great it doesn't matter!

    When might you use a medium crosscut diamond bit over a medium grit arbor band?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These two bits can mostly be used interchangeably based on your personal preference. They both can be used to prep the natural nail and cuticle area. You can use them both to smooth out (not take down bulk) the surface of acrylic or hard gel, but the arbor band tends to feel smoother/less vibration over the product. If you are trying to clean up or cut in your smile line, the diamond bit will work better than the arbor band.
