I don't know where Abomination got off thinking killing Betty would turn out well for him.
He pissed off Banner so bad he turned off his brain and went Savage Hulk on his ass.
The guy clearly forgot that Hulk gets stronger the madder he is. And even slightly less angrier Hulk still managed to beat him up every single time.
So he just took the safety off for him

I actually own this comic, still enjoy reading it to this day, really wish the fights between Hulk and Abomination was more like this in other media
I have it, too. I greatly enjoyed it, although I wish I had the comics that come before this issue.

God this was so damn satisfying for a number of reasons Hulk got a proper shot at Abomination and had the most brutally epic battle with him

I have always wanted to see this fight in full and it was great. I didn't know that Abomination's IQ dropped so far he thought fighting Savage Hulk after Betty's death was a good idea. Banner turning the knife at the end was perfect.
Later on Banner does something only Joe fixit would come up with to hurt Emil more than death

You know, I hate it when someone kills another man's wife. But this is Hulk we're taking about. And when you hurt someone that Hulk cares about, He'll tear you apart. Abomination earned his death sentence and Hulk delivered it.
According to the story, abomination is not dead, but he'll wish he was/had wished the hulk had ended his life, but, amazingly, hulk showed some form of "mercy" and returned to Banner 's body

This is excellent writing. You can feel the weight of each word, thrown as a punch. If you were a Hulk comic fan when this came out, you were witnessing the pinnacle of the bitterness taking over Bruce, since he was stopping playing the "fragile shell" role at John Byrne's first run (before David's). He's no longer the weakling unable to control any situation. The character has grown up, and now he finds new ways to deal with his own demons and finds out new grounds to settle with his usual enemies, whose have changed in the same way he had. I'm still hoping new writers willing to explore this kind of textures. Sometimes you don't need a starship or ghosts and ghouls stuff to reach up story's next level. Thanks a lot for sharing. That's tons of love for the character and his meaningful stories.

Me too. But I don't think that's the point. Would have been better if it ended with a video of her moving on and starting a family.

I have always felt that Emil Blonsky, the trained killer and spy turned into the Abomination, the punching back and eternal second stringer to the Incredible Hulk - were criminally under-utilised, and ofthen wasted on The Hulk.
Would have been interesting to see him in an Thunderbolt / Suicide Squad scenario's where he really got to flex that evil Intellect, strength and training, that too ofthen seem to be underplayed by Emil Blonsky.
Ive had this comic since I was a kid, nearly 20 years now. This came with the Marvel Legends Abomination figure. One of my favorite beatdowns in all of comics, and one it seems the MCU cant even come close to lol

Healing factors for years now have been tied with emotional state. Banner hurting inside would slow it. We have seen it with Deadpool as well and wolverin

Being this mad should have accelerated healing. Deadpool and Wolverine do not have that ability

Just imagine if the abomination had a healing factor similar to base level savage hulk. I know he has one, but as it's definitely on the slower end

Base level Abomination and Base level Hulk is always that Abomination is stronger because his strength IS 200 tons while the Hulk starts around maybe 90 to 100 tons, however, as he is enraged and gets angrier.. HE gets stronger enough to be as strong as 200 tons and even stronger. Initially, Abomination is twice as strong but as the fight progresses.. then the Hulk will be able to match and even exceed his strength. Jugguernaut is 100 tons and invulnerable and the Hulk immense rage strength has been able to handle him and even defeat him but not kill him. Thor has been able ot fight Juggernaut and Abomination but remove them from the field and not kill them. Thor is 100 tons strength and has other abilities unlike the Hulk that does have limitless strength derived from rage.

So is this the MCU version of the hulk what happened to his healing factor? He’s fully recovered in a matter of seconds from having most of flesh blasted off almost to the bone. And he is supposed to get stronger the madder he gets, pretty sure Betty being murdered would put his anger off the charts (even dumb hulk)
It just depends on who’s writing it, yes he’s supposed to get stronger the madden he gets, but for some reason the writers forget about that power sometimes

They're going to play that bit of audio on loop, until he eventually goes mad from it. He'll basically starve himself out; and the guilt of his causing her death, will rot him from the inside out. He just wanted revenge and in turn, met the worse side of the Hulk; the brilliant mind of Dr. Banner. Hulk's just a rage pit. Dr. Banner has been shown to be cold and calculating.
I was/am unhappy to find out they ended Betty Ross' character
As if Banner/Hulk didn't have the pain of losing Jarella way back in issue #214, i believe it was, to deal with, and, painfully, accept it, now this

Yeah Hulk stories have been really boring for me and mainly its because of this silly "infinite strength" thing which just makes his stories boring and very predictable. I wish I could be a Hulk writer as I would limit his strength and give Hulk a base level making his stories far more interesting especially in finding ways for Hulk to overcome opponents and obstacles without a lame plot device (also a major problem that Superman writers seem to have). I need to feel like Hulk is really in danger at times and it would be interesting to see how the Hulk can get out of situations in which his strength is just not enough. Maybe its just the comic writer in me as I am in the process of making my own comic.
Writers CONSISTENTLY nerf the Hulk. Hulk damaged adamantium (Ultron), with Banner's intelligence (power limiter), during the first Secret Wars. He should have killed at least half of Marvel's superhero/villain populus through accidental/incidental contact given his power level; yet heroes and villains alike have survived glancing blows from the Hulk. Sentry was the only worthy opponent Hulk faced as World Breaker (his best) within continuity. Whenever Hulk does fight someone in or near his power category, a handicap is applied to the Hulk which prohibits him from going HAM (ex. Hulk v Thing via the Puppet Master/latest Hulk v Thor or Thanos). Not even going there with characters who manipulate magic because then even "comic book" physics do not apply. Finally, the Hulk can't fly. So how does his "infinite strength" make his stories boring again?
He’s a power house type character what do you expect? Even so I don’t know where the “infinite strength” thing becomes a problem for you when they hardly showcase it…it’s always caps off or he gets calmed down some how so what is this rant about?

Abomination should always be portrayed as strong as he is here. Normally, he is rather a wimp who is quickly defeated most of the time. He is only portrayed as strong when he is about to lose to the Hulk again. With the strength he actually possesses, he should be a real threat to some hero teams and too strong for most strength-based heroes.
