I have the Cascadia version 16 GTX Gore -tex ($160)and they are superb winter trail runners. The traction is like knobby tires on a truck. Ice snow rain streams puddles, Nothing can stop you! I also hike mountains in them. I would not run road races in them. I would not run cross country races either , They are bulky built like tank all terrain shoes. Built for protection and traction …NOT Built for Speed! I own 2 pairs and use them alot for my off road adventures. One of my favs

I ended up buying the Gore-text version as well when the weather grew colder. I agree that the Cascadia 16s still perform well in the winter!! I haven't tried the Cascadia 17s that are out now because my 16s are still going strong. I also agree that they are a little bulky as opposed to speedy.

Great video! Good quality footwear is so important, especially if you spend a long time in them.

Thank you so much and that is definitely true with all the miles we spend hiking and searching for wildlife!

That sounds like an awesome trip and glad to hear you didn't have any blisters or issues with Brooks shoes either!

Thanks for the video, it helped! I am stuck here choosing between their new versions Divide 4 & Cascadia 17😅

I think the Divide 4 will be my next purchase for a shoe to walk around the pavement after work because I work in more of a city area now with sidewalks. General rule, I’d say go with the Cascadia if using it primarily for softer ground like actual hiking trails but go with the Divide if using more for pavement / harder ground. I feel as though the Divides are a little softer underfoot for pavement and the Cascadias are more equipped for rugged trails with the rock plate and little bit deeper lugs. Thank you for watching!!

True to size means like a normal sneaker size? Is the divide also ok for hiking in rough terrain?

Yes. I wear a size women's 7.5 in normal sneakers, such as my Nikes and Asics, and that is the same size that fits me well in these 2 Brooks shoes. As far as rough terrain, it would somewhat depend on an individual's needs, but if you're like me and don't need the heavier protection and ankle support of a bulky boot, they should work. One thing I would mention though, is that the bottom of the soles are not as "grippy" as some of the rubber compounds used in other hiking boots, such as those with Vibram outsoles. I feel like I have better balance in a lighter shoe overall.

Bought Cascadia 16 and they’re too narrow.

Wow , I never had that issue as the toe box seems wide for me. I hope you’re able to return them if they don’t work for you. A lot of people say Merrells are wide, yet I found the toe box on my Moab Flights to be too narrow for long distances
