My midwife told me 5 days in bed, 5 days around the bed and 5 days around the house. It was so hard after an easy home birth but my overall recovery was so much faster. I always tell new expectant mothers that it’s not as relaxing as it sounds but your baby needs you to recover and birth is hard…even if it was an easy delivery.
I agree with Missy; such a treasured moment when his big sis explained an October family tradition. Also loved how intently Daniel looked at his siblings. He knows their voices (I'm a former birthing coach). Praising God with you for this precious gift from Him!
I was told by my great aunt that her mother always recommended 2 weeks in bed eating only tea and toast. She had 5 home births in the early 1900’s. She lived into her 90’s and all her offspring were healthy and they all lived into their 90’s. There is great wisdom in the old ways, especially regarding childbirth.
My mother noticed that I was to tongue tied as she was being wheeled out of the hospital. The doctor pulled scissors out of his pocket, clipped it right there in the hallway, and we proceeded to the car and home. 1952.
Thank you for posting this. This is my first day home after having baby #4. I’m a person that thrives on routine and structure and postpartum has been hard to just let go and rest. But I feel it in my body that I need to rest so badly.
Back when my children were born, we spent a week in the hospital after delivery. Considering the cost of just walking into a hospital these days, we don't do that anymore! We were cautioned to take it easy for a month or so and could not drive for 4-6 weeks. My sister-in-law (mother of four) told me, "Labor is well named. You're tired and need to rest." YES! Daniel is adorable! I love how the older children are with him. The girls truly are your little helpers.
You have a precious baby boy. It's nice to watch the other kids hold & talk to Daniel. Daniel is so cute & every day you look a little more yourself in your healing process. Congrats Mary
I’m glad to hear that your nursing is less painful. I live near Toronto Canada I am a nurse and have worked in the maturity unit for 45years and have been a lactation consultant for 25 of those years. I love that you are spending so much time doing skin to skin and nursing on demand “baby’s demand of course “ when I have worked with newborns who have trouble latching I get mom to lie on her back ( not necessarily flat, using a small pillow ) when the baby brings his mouth over the breast he opens his mouth wide to latch and his tongue will drop down over the underside of the breast, this could be a little more difficult for Daniel if he has a tongue tie. In regard to the tongue tie something to consider as well is that sometimes if a baby figures out how to nurse in the first weeks/ months often when his milk requirements are increasing as he is growing he may have more difficulty sucking efficiently to get an adequate amount each feeding, often I’ve seen this at around 5 months of age Just a thought, something to be aware of for your consideration. Tongue ties are generally easier to clip as a newborn before the “tie/tissue” thickens and gets more nerve endings institu. I don’t mean to offend, hopefully just sharing from some of my experiences. 😊
I’m Chinese. Chinese people also believe not to move around and try to stay in bed for at least 2-4 weeks. I’d like to hear more from you of postpartum recovery!!!!
There are NO WORDS to describe how happy this post made me! Daniel is precious, the kids WITH HIM is priceless (Jude!!!!), and as always, dearest Lisa, your real front and day-in-the-life recordings is what we in the mutual real world appreciate! I am SO glad you are taking it slow, doing skin to skin a ton, and as someone else who had a bad latch (AND, I gave up too quickly and STILL have guilt!) it's nice to see a POSITIVE outcome via good ole' determination and grit! Sending LOTS of love!!! xoxo
It is so hard for active people to stay in bed when you feel good! I'm proud of your self discipline!! Don't over do, bc prolapse is no joke I'm tellin'' ya. Your kids are so precious with their new baby❤ Micah is so curious. Just such a special time! Blessings!
I am so thankful my dentist has a laser to reverse the lip tie on my newborn. There is hardly any pain and no stretching involved. It took about 10min. It was so much less expensive than getting it clipped too, probably because he was my regular dentist already. Hope everything continues to go well!!
I'm so thankful the prevailing advice now is to rest and recoup. When I had mine 30 years ago they acted like you should be doing a 4 minute mile in a week's time. It's just such a blessing to be able to see this all go so well.
@@jendyson6729 I know right? They used to discharge in under 24 hours and expect you to stop at the market and pick up something for dinner on your way home.
My midwife orders are exactly the same. She always reminds my husband “she’s going to feel great like she can do it all and have all this energy, but do not let her do anything but nurse and sleep” haha. I love keeping up with your sister too. That’s the brand of after birth that comes in my birthing kit that we order in case of emergency and the hubby has to start things up for me. I am just now entering my second tri (this pregnancy was a surprise and our fifth. Third homebirth) so enjoying these videos!!
Fay K. It’s just limiting the walking around and being active right away because our bodies are still healing. The more you walk around the more chances of bleeding. It goes by fast 😁 also it can vary for each mama. For me with my last I had to do more bed rest PP because I had a lot of bleeding. Birth was amazing but my uterus was just being stubborn. Lol
My folks have black walnuts and with all the labor involved they just keep them for themselves. so good on you for trying to actually sell them! For about a month they take over the garage with all the prep. Loving the beautiful gaze from darlin Daniel.
Such a lovely candid video and anyone who has had a child can absolutely relate to those early days. Thank-you so much for sharing your children's bonding experience in those first few days, and I have to tell you that Daniel is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! So happy to see that you are taking the time to recover and give yourselves the rest you need. God Bless :)
My daughter has a pretty decent tongue and lip tie! We went through the same thing, nursing was so painful when she was born. It went away though, and 7 months later we don’t have any problems! Praise God! 🙌🏽 praying the same for you! 💜
So happy to see you have a very healthy happy baby. Our granddaughter had a tongue tied baby this past June. Even after him fixed for that he still couldn't latch properly and tried everything but ...she was so sore and bleeding she had to give it up..at least he got a good start and is over the top in all his stats...so blessings to all.
Your kids are so sweet with him. Watching your oldest made me get all emotional (don’t judge- I’m pregnant lol) because it made me think of my own daughter and how quickly they grow...what a sweet helper and you can tell she already mimics some of the things you say and do...I loved seeing that!
What loving moments! Thank you for sharing. I have six children as well, and my older ones couldn't wait to get their hands on the babies when they arrived. I wish I'd known about staying in bed for two weeks when I had my kids though!
So sweet seeing the older kids loving on their new brother! I love that first week with a newborn when it's all cuddles and sleep. I hope his latch has gotten better, for your sake! 🙂
This makes me cry. I did so much ... too much straight away. Like on my Hands and knees cleaning my floor before visitors came. No one was there to help me, my hubby knew no better and just let me get on with it, plus he was running a business. You literally get told so little. I’m Glad your are informed and are informing people. Hope your recover well. xx
Oh my goodness Lisa you and Daniel and your beautiful family just warm my heart. The sweet sweet sounds he makes just make me want to squeeze him. God has blessed you and your family and I know that will continue. Can’t wait to watch them all grow up with a wonderful Mom and Dad.😘
Laid back nursing really made a difference for me nursing my son. He also had a small tounge tie, and it was truly painfull when nursing him. After i got into the laid back nursing, it was just so much more natural than all these 'right' positions, different nurses taught me. Its beyond me why its not used more here in Denmark, but maybe it's more normal in other contries? And of course i'm not saying it's the right method for everyone. Blessings in Christ Jesus!
Omg..its so cute watching your kids around your lil new bundle of joy. I dont know how many times I reminded and watch!!love to watch your videos!!i think this is pure heavenly joy🥰Almighty God bless you all ❤🥰🥰
I loved seeing how the children love to show Daniel their love and bonding with him. He is a precious gift from God your doing great continue prayers for you and precious Daniel. ❤️
I’m 7month on my first one and watching your videos just made me teary. Thank you for sharing. Your daughter looks just like you. What a beautiful family. 😍
Congratulations on your new baby. You were right about taking it easy after birth. After my 5th baby I felt wonderful and got up and did all kinds of things...I regretted that when I developed strong abdominal pain. At that point I was forced to take a break. I learned my lesson and was more careful when the next baby came along.
I listen to my body and do what feels good. Sometimes laying in bed for a week does, sometimes getting up after a day does. If you have had a c-section they make you get up after a day. I have a friend who had a natural birth and got blood clots from sitting in bed for 2 weeks
I wasn’t planning to try for another baby for about a year, and seeing you with yours makes me not want to wait. Absolutely beautiful boy! Congratulations!
He is a beautiful baby and you are really looking wonderful. Continue to take care of yourself. Was such a treat to see your new addition to your family.
Congratulations to you all. Daniel is a gorgeous little baby boy as are all your other children. Two of my grand children were tongue tied and we paid for them to have it snipped because we didn’t want them to have feeding problems as well as speech problems later on. I was never told about after pains with my second daughter and I fainted so take care of yourself and enjoy the rest while you can 💙💖
My fourth kid has an upper lip tie that we were able to nurse through, but that first week was quite a learning experience. Praying Daniel's tongue tie is mild enough you can work through it quickly. He's precious. Congrats!
Thanks for sharing your lovely family and especially your adorable new addition! Our first is now just 2 months old and I can remember how tiny he was those first few days. Daniel is reminding me to enjoy every second. They truly grow so fast!
Thank you for sharing your precious first week with your newborn. Your family has inspired me a lot, and i think of some of the things you have said in prior videos really often in my parenting! Thank you for the content. I would LOVE a specific Q&A on parenting.
Love this so much! Micah climbing over the foot of the bed was so cute! Always fun to watch those toddlers figure out the new baby. ☺️ All the sibling love and snuggles, so precious!
So glad to see you resting and taking your time👍🏻. There’s this misconception that you should be out and about 2 days after! Take time and enjoy. Your kids are so good around him. Congrats to you and your family.
Oh Lisa...he is just precious! All of your children are. They are going to be such great older siblings to him. They already are ☺️. You’re looking great! Have a wonderful day! 🤱🏼
Welcome to the world Daniel !!! What a beautiful boy Lisa, and your kids are so in love with him. It's so touching to watch them. CONGRATULATIONS !!! ♥️♥️♥️
🥰💕So happy to see you’re recovery so well. Seeing all your children bonding is so precious. Extreme Self Care is hard for us Moms but it is essential in recovering. I didn’t have any help after delivering my 4 & they were 3 C-sections. The next day after coming home from the hospital my husband would go to work & I would just say hand me the baby & just get by. I had the same situation with the stairs. OMG the stairs. Famous Cheerios story in my house. My older child was begging for Cheerios. My new born baby was crying. I was all alone I went down the stairs slowly got the bowl of milk & Cheerios slowly climbed the steps & on the last step I fell. The milk & Cheerios went everywhere & dropped all down the wall & in the bowl was maybe 10 Cheerios left. I said “ here are your Cheerios”. My son looked at me & was so sad! I will never forget that & I just cried. Something you never forget. I can laugh about it now but boy did that fall hurt. 😂🥰💕🧶🧵👍👍
I've never even thought about not doing anything for a week and just healing and holding baby. I love that! It seems amazing! I'm pregnant with baby #4 and we've always spent that time with me in the hospital, the NICU and emergency rooms. So, I'm always running around hospitals, not sitting and relaxing. Maybe #4 will be different. Fingers crossed. Thanks for sharing!
So sweet. :) We’re due with our second daughter on Valentines Day and one of the things I look forward to most is seeing how our oldest will interact with her. Your kids are obviously smitten! Congratulations to you whole family! 💜💜💜
Daniel is so adorable! Reminds me of my son, when he was a baby, now he's 14. It's great that you're able to relax and spend time with him, bonding is so important. The kids are so great with him! It was nice to see how you and the kids are doing! Take Care!
Lisa, I’m so glad your experiences with tongue tie have been pretty good. I would guess that breastfeeding multiple children and having a good milk supply probably helped a lot. As a lactation consultant, I would highly recommend that most moms follow up with lactation support sooner rather than later to evaluate and help manage issues like tongue tie. Congratulations again on your sweet baby boy.
Daniel is beautiful and you look great, Mom!! im so happy to see more and more of you young Moms doing this the way it was intended. my 1st was born in 1982 and everyone said i was nuts for not going to the hospital and using a midwife instead. my children werr healthy and are now healthy adults with their own babies!!
Congratulations Lisa!! I've been watching your being pregnant stories here anticipating the baby. He looks just adorable and such a treasure 🥰 Now I'm 18 week pregnant. Can't wait to meet my baby!
Your other kids are so sweet with Daniel! Your 4-5-year-old (Jude?) is so fascinated and in love. He has really listened to you guys - he can receive all of the things you have told him to do/not to do. I predict he will be Daniel's protector and friend. And, as stated, your daughter is so precious already sharing with Daniel the family tradition of picking up walnuts every October. Little momma there! Your family is so precious! Congratulations and blessings! ❤️❤️❤️
Bless you Lisa. Your new baby son is cute. Wishing you all the best with this dear new little one and your other dear children and husband. Kindest greetings from Switzerland.
That's the difference with home births, they know what you really need. When I had my first baby we were made to stay in hospital for 8 days, 2nd baby, 2 years later, 2 days with the option to stay the 8 and the last one (home birth) I was also told to rest but the standard was to go into hospital have the baby and out within 24 hours and more or less left to get on with it. The body really needs to rest to heal. You've done so well with such a great support around you and your are blooming. I love seeing Daniel's little features unfolding in your video. That first week is like watching a flowers petals unfold. What a beautiful family Lisa. Thank you so much for sharing your stories with us, if I were starting out I'd have loved your lifestyle, it's so natural and away from the whole mental turning wheel. You're family are a great inspiration x
Oh he is just precious ❤️ I am on baby number 3 and I’m terrible at resting after birth but I’m going to make sure I do it for at least a week this time! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Again so happy for you guys. I love how all the other kiddos are so into him. God is so good! Who knew 12 years ago (almost) when you guys got married that God would bless you with such an amazing family. Love you guys and so happy for you all.
It's over 30 years since I've held a newborn and my only child has decided not to have children. Watching this , for me, is bittersweet. But I'm glad I watched it. Thank you for sharing this first week with us!. God Bless you and your family.
What a beautiful little newborn. Well, I wish I had been told about resting more after birth. I was completely caring for my family on the third day postpartum, three older kids and a newborn. My husband went back to work. I felt fine and didn't think anything about it really but as an older person now I do have problems with bladder leakage which may have been prevented had I known to rest for 10-14 days. Now I will share this information with my grown daughters so they will get the rest they need. Lovely video, congratulations on your new baby :)
Awwwwwww little farmer boy!!! Hes just so precious!!! That baby is much loved!!! The biggest sister is amazing with him. So sweet how she was telling him stories and such. Micah the Bulldozer brother lol
I just loved when your daughter was telling him about what they do in October. Just precious.
Missy Taulbee for real! How cute!
I agree with Missy; such a treasured moment when his big sis explained an October family tradition. Also loved how intently Daniel looked at his siblings. He knows their voices (I'm a former birthing coach). Praising God with you for this precious gift from Him!
I was going to say the same, it tugged on my heart strings when she said he could help pick walnuts with them in a few years. So sweet! 💕
Yes that was great!
“It’s too quiet up here”
A true sign of a lovely large family 💛
How perfect! ❤️ When I see newborns it's such a testament to God's goodness and grace. What a miracle.
I was told by my great aunt that her mother always recommended 2 weeks in bed eating only tea and toast. She had 5 home births in the early 1900’s. Daniel is precious and your husband is a saint!
Daniel is beautiful! Loved seeing the other children interact with him.
Oh my heart...when you’re oldest kids had baby Daniel 😍😍😍. That is a memory to last a lifetime.
I love the post part time of rest...its is a vey special and short lived time...I would embrace it.

I’m glad to hear that your nursing is less painful. Tongue ties are generally easier to clip as a newborn before the “tie/tissue” thickens and gets more nerve endings institu. I don’t mean to offend, hopefully just sharing from some of my experiences. 😊

What a sweet little face. God’s gift from Heaven. Such a sweet miracle ❤️

Love it! So honest on how it really is and should be in the early days. Thanks for being so real, I’m sure you help lots of moms or soon to be moms!
So sweet seeing the older kids loving on their new brother! I love that first week with a newborn when it's all cuddles and sleep. I hope his latch has gotten better, for your sake! 🙂
I am 10 weeks pregnant & have been watching your videos when I can. I’ve been collecting a lot of information 😊

Thank you for sharing with us! God bless you and your beautiful family!🤍
Your daughter talking to him and discussinf family traditions is the sweetest thing. All of your kids are so sweet...
Oh gosh! I'm just LOVING this Vlog. You and your Husband have some of the prettiest children!!
Thank you!

So adorable, you can see how well he is feeling out! You are doing such a great job of taking care of yourself and Daniel. 💙
What a beautiful, loving family. God bless you. Thank you for sharing this wonderful time with Daniel and siblings.
I love how you are real and educating! Every new mom needs this and I even needed the reminder! My 3rd I rested and my healing was so much better!
Welcome to the world Daniel !!! What a beautiful boy Lisa, and your kids are so in love with him. It's so touching to watch them. CONGRATULATIONS !!! ♥️♥️♥️

Your way with him and love for him are just glorious. Your children are a delight. Thank you so much for going out of your way to share
He is just gorgeous. Congratulations to you all!
Thank you Lisa for taking the time to share and congratulations.
So precious the other children's interaction with Daniel. 😊
Take Care!
Just had my third girl on February 5th... man, nursing is basically what I do all day! Plus watching some of your videos is very relatable!
Congrats Lisa, baby Daniel is just so precious. May God bless him, both you and your husband are incredibly rich in blessings!💓
Congratulations Lisa!! I've been watching your being pregnant stories here anticipating the baby. He looks just adorable and such a treasure 🥰 Now I'm 18 week pregnant. Can't wait to meet my baby!
Daniel is a beautiful baby boy. Get well and take care of yourself. Blessings to you and your family 😉
What a precious addition to your beautiful family!
Expecting our first in May and this was so helpful to see!
Thank you for sharing this.
Recite! Not receive! (Spell check...Greer! Changed it after I checked it!)
Bless you Lisa. Your new baby
son is cute. Wishing you all the
best with this dear new little
one and your other dear children
and husband. Kindest greetings
from Switzerland.
He is absolutely beautiful ... you have been blessed with a beautiful family!!!
Daniel is so precious, and your kiddos are so sweet with him.
Love you guys and so happy for you all.
thank you!
He's SO bright!!
Ruthie is the best ever ❤️ such a beautiful soul
It's over 30 years since I've held a newborn and my only child has decided not to have children. Watching this , for me, is bittersweet. But I'm glad I watched it. Thank you for sharing this first week with us!. God Bless you and your family.
Love your priority on resting! ❤️ The big kids with their baby brother was absolutely precious...such good memories you’ve captured!

So wonderful! Thank you for sharing your precious family's life.
Such a sweet video! Loved seeing all the older siblings loving on their new brother ❤ especially seeing your one daughter read him a book
Awww...he's so cute! And your kids are really gentle with him. ❤ Your sweet daughter, I can see, will grow up taking great care of him. Precious. ❤🙏☺
He is a doll. Congratulations
Precious videos for your family to look back on. Beautiful!
Awwwwwww little farmer boy!!! Hes just so precious!!! That baby is much loved!!! The biggest sister is amazing with him. So sweet how she was telling him stories and such. Micah the Bulldozer brother lol
