I genuinely cannot believe that Nintendo haven’t made these changes, and that they didn’t just have most of these features from the start. I refuse to believe most of the current frustrations that this video solves are purposeful and are supposed to make the game better, because they game would be so much more relaxing with these features in place!

I feel like after a year of no quality of life updates and generally boring events, that are finished in 1 hour of fulfilling the requirements, i can confidently say that ACNH is one of the if not worst managed entry in this franchise.
I doubt we will get any of these changes tbh. This is why i barely play nh and have switched back to nl, gameplay wise there isn’t and still isnt much to do in nh after such a long time.

The Nov 2021 feature expansion for AC is great and all, but I feel like the quality of life improvements that fans have been screaming for (see above video) went right over their heads.

As someone with a game design degree, I can absolutely assure you that these features are absolutely standard. Like, we study this type of stuff in 2nd year or so, and they have to be applied to our own student projects. Every single game dev person who plays animal crossing shits on its playability. Why nintendo hasn't done this, is an absolute mistery to me.
The prizes dont change but please waste your time here looking for the ever place changing booths! Not to mention they don't even sell for a high profit! :D

This might be a lot more complicated for an update but being able to interact with furniture items and stuff. It makes me so sad that you can't sip the coffee or physically do the action to play instruments. Being able to that kind of stuff would make the world seem more alive. I would pay money to be able to do that in my AC. Please Nintendo. I want to sip coffee with my friends and not just hump the table.
The way all of this is so doable and wouldn't harm the gameplay at all but Nintendo really think artificially lengthening the game with slow actions is "part of the charm" or whatever the fuck

Ikr!! If you use a regular path, it does not erase but custom designs do. The only use of buying the custom path add on is to place it faster! What is the use of letting it erase
The problem is, even when you don't have the terraforming available, you can place custom patterns on the ground (same was true in every other AC game) so how would a new player erase their pathways if they can't put the terraforming mode on?
It’s one thing if the problems aren’t solvable, but this video shows professional solutions that Nintendo just ignored. I understand that Nintendo is trying to keep up with the next big thing but it doesn’t mean you should abandon old favorites of players. ACNH will always be my favorite Nintendo game but it would be better if they could fix the problems 😔
I still maintain that the devs were so used to making games for the DS and stuff they were ignorant that this was going to be on a console. There's no reason for the game to lag down to 12 fps when you have too many animated props.
and there are certain nook miles tickets that ensure you will land on an island with the fruit/materials of your choice. no more wasting 46,000 miles trying to find a single apple

@rogerina yes but some of them aren't extremely over powered like- I'd have to watch the video again but I think some of the crafting ones make a lot of sense and so do alot of the control changes to where you don't have to go through options

Orville automatically shuts the island designer down I don't know why Mable can't just go "you're transformed you'll have to be yourself if you want to use the dressing room/ you're in your diving suit you'll have to take that off" then just play the little removing animation and let you in
Also you can’t assign the diving suit to a wand. The Wands are the most pointless thing ever, and then when the diving suit came i thought “ oh perfect since I have to change so often with the diving suit I’ll finally have the perfect use for the wand” yet no.... for some stupid reason you can’t put the diving suit on a wand and you have to select each item to put it on or take it off individually. Why? Because Nintendo thought it wasn’t frustrating enough. There is no way these choices aren’t purposely done to frustrate players and drag out play time on shallow gameplay. I wouldn’t mind the gameplay being shallow if it wasn’t meticulously designed to frustrate players and have them run back and forth across their Island constantly because of some dumb pointless limitation that Nintendo added.

If they were in 2020, you'd be unlocking all of your furniture items with loot boxes bought with real money and the clothing store would be selling "cosmetics" that you would have to buy with an in-game premium currency. Different seasons and events would be DLC as well. These quality of life changes would be great, but bringing Nintendo to 2020? No thank you.

yes oh my god, i had an entire plan for my island and the placement of resident services made me have to change it (also we should be able to have two side estuaries or the ability to move estuaries in the beginning of the game)

watching this almost FOUR YEARS and here's what we don't have: - Bulk crafting - Customizing before you craft - DIY benches in home pulling from your storage - ZR to use - ZL to drop/transfer - Checking pockets without leaving the storage menu - Sort button in inventory - Easy split stacks/consuming multiple food items - ANYTHING like the NookPedia upgrade - Revised buy in bulk - Buying multiples of the same types of clothes - VN skip button - Dodo Air app - Settings...any of them. So...none of them lol.
Thunderhawk51 yeah, but it’d still be nice to have the durability indicator on tools that still break.But yeah, it’s still a bit ridiculous to not even have the golden tools be unbreakable when in other games, every tool was unbreakable except for the axe. And even then, the golden axe never broke.

I think the reason they haven't figured it out is because a few very vocal people have demanded stupid things like decreasing the eggs or adding the coffee shop and other demands that they make the game identical to previous versions instead of adding things that will help all players. What's the point of demanding that the game be identical to previous versions? They could just play THAT version, if that's what they want! Anyway, I have a hearing disability, and Animal Crossing is the first game I've ever seen that doesn't have sound control. I need to be able to turn off the music so I can hear the sounds of balloons, fish, bugs, etc. for game play. It's not some new idea for the benefit of a few; it's a basic setting that is in every game of every budget level -- except Animal Crossing. Besides, for non-disabled players, what's the point of buying all of those KK Slider songs when you have a clashing song playing at the same time as the song you chose on the radio? And the animals sure sound weird singing a totally different song than the one you hear loudest, which is the mandatory song rather than the chosen song. Those music clashes are the kind of thing that reviewers mention as reasons for giving a game a low rating, or as traits of an asset flip or other crappy game that the developer threw together just to make a few easy dollars. It's unexpected in a game of this quality and price. And about those decreased eggs -- I had an incredibly hard time finding eggs, so I'm pretty annoyed that a few whiny people made them decrease the eggs. If only they'd been that vocal about actual needs in the game, like the sound controls.
The only 2 other things I would add to this would be: 1: Tool Durability meter 2: Terraforming to be similar to how the home decorator is. This video really hit hard on everything though. Very well put together.
The fact that not a single one of these has been implemented is why I can't be bothered to boot up the game any more. Maybe I'll hop back in during autumn, considering I got burnt out and missed that season last year...
Here’s a few more ideas: - Making special characters interactable (walking outside) like they did with Tommy. I would like to see Isabelle outside. - An Ingame social media (Requires Nintendo Switch Online.) I would like to have a platform similar to miiverse on our nook phones, where we could share photos, giving people motivation to use the camera more. But, there would be a filter, and Comments would be limited in some way. -References to missing characters (Digby, Porter, Katie, the Pelicans, etc.) -Durability meter for tools -Make Katrina (fortune teller) an island visitor -Make something similar to Tortimer Island (Requires Nintendo Switch Online) -Give villagers a few units of land, so they can decorate it with whatever they want/ to let them know that they can use the furniture there only. Edit: I realized a few flaws with this the past month. Special characters being interactable: they might not be in office unless the game teleports them back. It would be weird. NSO Tortimer Island. I didn’t specify that you could go alone. N o o k v e r s e: People could hack and include bad designs in their posts. Along with Rated X stuff xd. It could be a forum thing like reddit, but I feel like it should be more of an Instagram thing. (Also nintendo, give us the option to link our instagram to our my Nintendo accounts, PLEASE. Nobody uploads to Facebook on Nintendo anyway.) Durability meter: Someone mentioned it would give it an RPG style thing (idk). There could be a way for it to make certain sounds nearing its breaking point. Also, remember in ACNL when villagers would want to come to your house/ plan a time to visit? DO IT AGAIN NINTENDO, PLEASE Oh, and calling villagers too. Like if you want to call your villagers to come to your house, or somewhere on your island. OR EVEN ON THE TORTIMER ISLAND I MENTIONED!
I really love the idea of villagers having their own plot of land! It would be cute to see them place stuff that you gave them, or plant fruit trees if you give them fruit.
I like the rest. But having the special NPCs walk around could cause issues. Like. What if you need Isabelle and she's faffing off somewhere else? It's nice in concept, but flawed in execution.
I don't really like the durability meter for tools, it would look like some RPG game, and it kinda kills the simple style of the game a ragged design on the tool when it's about to break would look cooler imo
Becoming an expert in fossils after actually donating all of them so that you avoid going to Blathers everyday in search of the identity of your *already donated* fossils. I mean: hey, there's a fossil here! I dug it up and it's a T-Rex skull.
i wish there was a fossil pedia section in the critter pedia and if we already had the fossil we could sell it to blathers. they literally hint at him wanted the fossils all the time.
Also: tools durability It's too annoying when you don't know when your tools are gonna break and when you'll need them the most like when you're shaking trees and your net breaks before and you're chased by wasps.
It’d be nice if the tools appeared more damaged as their durability went down, so we’d have some sort of indicator as to when they completely break. That accompanied by a durability bar, like in minecraft, would be amazing.
Perhaps more, if the island you were gonna visit first closed or you made a typo when inputting the dodo code. Seriously, why should I need to disconnect from the online service and reconnect again just to input a new dodo code or switch from it to friend search or vice versa?
also I hate it when people come and go you have to sit and watch through the whole process even if you aren't hosting... but when you are on a store or doing something else it doesn't stop and only gives you a banner... why is that?? online process is flawed in every way IMO.
It's bad for the museum too... Accidentally click "make donation" when you meant "assess fossils"? Guess you have to listen to Blathers explain how you have nothing currently donatable since fossils have to be assessed first, and instead of leading directly into "want me to assess your fossils?" or back to "is there anything else I can help you with?" like it does in every other situation, it ends the conversation and you have to sit through it all again.

This literally covers everything. The only thing that I would add is the option to costumize your hourly themes. I really want to hear some themes from the previous games, especially new leaf.
Ear buds. Any K.K. song you have registered, and any hourly theme. Remixes of all the older hourly songs too. Seems like it'd be a stretch getting that many songs in 1 game, but don't forget Smash, it has over 900.
Or if you’re villager hunting until you find the one you want and then you can tell Orville that you want to go back early. Cause I had like 50 nmts in my pockets for villager hunting and then I found Judy on my 5th island so I wouldn’t have wanted to use all of them

this is incredible and this is exactly what we NEED. The only other addition I could think of is some sort of change to the best friends system by adding a permissions system by which you can allow visitors to build and remove furniture on your island (obviously only if you have allowed them via the permissions)
Miguel Dixon couldn’t you just use rescue services in the extremely unlikely event that that happens? i assume 99% of people who would end up allowing others to build would only allow people who they actually know and trust anyways

Good Lord. Seeing like, 20 or so tweaks/additions in this video alone, which would make playing this such a more pleasing experience... only for NONE of them to have been implemented after 1.5 years (even in the 2.0 update), has hit some level of insanity I simply can't find the words to describe.
I kind of hate when people defend some of the design choices in the game saying, "It's AC it's meant to be slow pace". Waiting for plants to grow, moving houses, and bridges taking days makes sense. Going in and out of Abel's fitting room for different clothes, only being able to craft one at a time, and navigating through terrible menus is artificial padding and frustrating tedium. Fixing these mechanics won't ruin the core gameplay at all since everything else still takes time, so it only feels right that Nintendo implement some QoL changes, even though they most likely won't...

I don't think it's fair to assume that people that prefer the slower pace of AC think the game is perfect and doesn't need QoL changes. I for one like slower place that is why I don't time travel. It makes sense that plants and trees takes a few days to grow at least we can replant trees now. Bridges/inclines only take one day to build assuming you have the money. That being said of course I find the crafting one thing at a time needlessly tedious, and I would kill for that item placement box. I would also like to commission multiple bridges or move multiple things if I am able to pay things off first. it would still take a day to complete though. Overall I agree with 100% of the changes in the video I desperately hope this would be added in a update.
Yes, some tedium in the game is only due to unoptimal gameplay, some is by design. There's no reason why better use can't be made with the available controller buttons like ZR and ZL for example without violating the spirit of the game.

This might be a lot more complicated for an update but being able to interact with furniture items and stuff. It makes me so sad that you can't sip the coffee or physically do the action to play instruments. Being able to that kind of stuff would make the world seem more alive. I would pay money to be able to do that in my AC. Please Nintendo. I want to sip coffee with my friends and not just hump the table.

Ikr!! If you use a regular path, it does not erase but custom designs do. The only use of buying the custom path add on is to place it faster! What is the use of letting it erase
The problem is, even when you don't have the terraforming available, you can place custom patterns on the ground (same was true in every other AC game) so how would a new player erase their pathways if they can't put the terraforming mode on?
It’s one thing if the problems aren’t solvable, but this video shows professional solutions that Nintendo just ignored. I understand that Nintendo is trying to keep up with the next big thing but it doesn’t mean you should abandon old favorites of players. ACNH will always be my favorite Nintendo game but it would be better if they could fix the problems 😔
I still maintain that the devs were so used to making games for the DS and stuff they were ignorant that this was going to be on a console. There's no reason for the game to lag down to 12 fps when you have too many animated props.

Also you can’t assign the diving suit to a wand. The Wands are the most pointless thing ever, and then when the diving suit came i thought “ oh perfect since I have to change so often with the diving suit I’ll finally have the perfect use for the wand” yet no.... for some stupid reason you can’t put the diving suit on a wand and you have to select each item to put it on or take it off individually. Why? Because Nintendo thought it wasn’t frustrating enough. There is no way these choices aren’t purposely done to frustrate players and drag out play time on shallow gameplay. I wouldn’t mind the gameplay being shallow if it wasn’t meticulously designed to frustrate players and have them run back and forth across their Island constantly because of some dumb pointless limitation that Nintendo added.

The 2000s was a good and simple time. Still Nintendo should really get with the times and update some of these outdated features.
If they were in 2020, you'd be unlocking all of your furniture items with loot boxes bought with real money and the clothing store would be selling "cosmetics" that you would have to buy with an in-game premium currency. Different seasons and events would be DLC as well.
These quality of life changes would be great, but bringing Nintendo to 2020? No thank you.

- Easy split stacks/consuming multiple food items
- ANYTHING like the NookPedia upgrade
- Revised buy in bulk
- Buying multiples of the same types of clothes
- VN skip button
- Dodo Air app
- Settings...any of them.

Yeah, I agree. Even if it’s not for the entire time you use it, at least give us some sort of warning when you have about 10 uses left or something.
It would make sense, considering there's an item in the may day tour called "Worn Axe" with only 3 uses left before it breaks.

I think the reason they haven't figured it out is because a few very vocal people have demanded stupid things like decreasing the eggs or adding the coffee shop and other demands that they make the game identical to previous versions instead of adding things that will help all players. What's the point of demanding that the game be identical to previous versions? They could just play THAT version, if that's what they want!
Anyway, I have a hearing disability, and Animal Crossing is the first game I've ever seen that doesn't have sound control. I need to be able to turn off the music so I can hear the sounds of balloons, fish, bugs, etc. for game play. It's not some new idea for the benefit of a few; it's a basic setting that is in every game of every budget level -- except Animal Crossing. Besides, for non-disabled players, what's the point of buying all of those KK Slider songs when you have a clashing song playing at the same time as the song you chose on the radio? And the animals sure sound weird singing a totally different song than the one you hear loudest, which is the mandatory song rather than the chosen song. Those music clashes are the kind of thing that reviewers mention as reasons for giving a game a low rating, or as traits of an asset flip or other crappy game that the developer threw together just to make a few easy dollars. It's unexpected in a game of this quality and price.
And about those decreased eggs -- I had an incredibly hard time finding eggs, so I'm pretty annoyed that a few whiny people made them decrease the eggs. If only they'd been that vocal about actual needs in the game, like the sound controls.

- Making special characters interactable (walking outside) like they did with Tommy. I would like to see Isabelle outside.
- An Ingame social media (Requires Nintendo Switch Online.) I would like to have a platform similar to miiverse on our nook phones, where we could share photos, giving people motivation to use the camera more. But, there would be a filter, and Comments would be limited in some way.
-References to missing characters (Digby, Porter, Katie, the Pelicans, etc.)
-Durability meter for tools
-Make Katrina (fortune teller) an island visitor
-Make something similar to Tortimer Island (Requires Nintendo Switch Online)
-Give villagers a few units of land, so they can decorate it with whatever they want/ to let them know that they can use the furniture there only.
Edit: I realized a few flaws with this the past month.
Special characters being interactable: they might not be in office unless the game teleports them back. It would be weird.

Nobody uploads to Facebook on Nintendo anyway.)
Durability meter: Someone mentioned it would give it an RPG style thing (idk). There could be a way for it to make certain sounds nearing its breaking point.
Also, remember in ACNL when villagers would want to come to your house/ plan a time to visit? DO IT AGAIN NINTENDO, PLEASE
Oh, and calling villagers too. Like if you want to call your villagers to come to your house, or somewhere on your island. OR EVEN ON THE TORTIMER ISLAND I MENTIONED!

I really love the idea of villagers having their own plot of land! It would be cute to see them place stuff that you gave them, or plant fruit trees if you give them fruit.

It's too annoying when you don't know when your tools are gonna break and when you'll need them the most like when you're shaking trees and your net breaks before and you're chased by wasps.

Perhaps more, if the island you were gonna visit first closed or you made a typo when inputting the dodo code. Seriously, why should I need to disconnect from the online service and reconnect again just to input a new dodo code or switch from it to friend search or vice versa?
also I hate it when people come and go you have to sit and watch through the whole process even if you aren't hosting... but when you are on a store or doing something else it doesn't stop and only gives you a banner... why is that?? online process is flawed in every way IMO.
It's bad for the museum too... Accidentally click "make donation" when you meant "assess fossils"? Guess you have to listen to Blathers explain how you have nothing currently donatable since fossils have to be assessed first, and instead of leading directly into "want me to assess your fossils?" or back to "is there anything else I can help you with?" like it does in every other situation, it ends the conversation and you have to sit through it all again.
They also need to fix the game interrupts when people visit or leave an island! It's really annoying!

This literally covers everything. The only thing that I would add is the option to costumize your hourly themes. I really want to hear some themes from the previous games, especially new leaf.
Ear buds. Any K.K. song you have registered, and any hourly theme. Remixes of all the older hourly songs too. Seems like it'd be a stretch getting that many songs in 1 game, but don't forget Smash, it has over 900.

this is incredible and this is exactly what we NEED. The only other addition I could think of is some sort of change to the best friends system by adding a permissions system by which you can allow visitors to build and remove furniture on your island (obviously only if you have allowed them via the permissions)
Miguel Dixon couldn’t you just use rescue services in the extremely unlikely event that that happens? i assume 99% of people who would end up allowing others to build would only allow people who they actually know and trust anyways

I kind of hate when people defend some of the design choices in the game saying, "It's AC it's meant to be slow pace". Waiting for plants to grow, moving houses, and bridges taking days makes sense. Going in and out of Abel's fitting room for different clothes, only being able to craft one at a time, and navigating through terrible menus is artificial padding and frustrating tedium. Fixing these mechanics won't ruin the core gameplay at all since everything else still takes time, so it only feels right that Nintendo implement some QoL changes, even though they most likely won't...
exactly, thank you! you framed it perfectly. i seriously can't understand the arguments against any of these changes. plus, if you like navigating menus and reading the same dialogue for the 1000th time, you would be free to do so.

I don't think it's fair to assume that people that prefer the slower pace of AC think the game is perfect and doesn't need QoL changes. I for one like slower place that is why I don't time travel. It makes sense that plants and trees takes a few days to grow at least we can replant trees now. Bridges/inclines only take one day to build assuming you have the money.
That being said of course I find the crafting one thing at a time needlessly tedious, and I would kill for that item placement box. I would also like to commission multiple bridges or move multiple things if I am able to pay things off first. it would still take a day to complete though.
Overall I agree with 100% of the changes in the video I desperately hope this would be added in a update.

Yes, some tedium in the game is only due to unoptimal gameplay, some is by design. There's no reason why better use can't be made with the available controller buttons like ZR and ZL for example without violating the spirit of the game.
