      The only issue is how annoying Switches are to mod compared to everything else. You either need to have an old vanilla Switch with an unpatched chip, have one on a very specific OS version, or solder something in its circuits. This will likely limit it compared to New Leaf modding.

  • @ms.dreavus2446
    @ms.dreavus2446 2 ปีที่แล้ว +59

    I think so much of the stigma largely stems from Nintendo unfortunately. With Sims 4 and Stardew Valley, it's so incredibly easy to just drop mods in a folder, load up your game, and see instant results. Nintendo purposefully makes it difficult to deter people from doing it, and while I'm a huge Nintendo girl, this is one aspect I really dislike about the company. This video has really made me want to try, though. I have been experiencing a lot of burnout with my current island, and I want to complete it so badly, but maybe this is the push that I need. You've given me a lot to think about! I am going to join the discord and hopefully get some much needed inspo. Thank you for this!

    If I wasn’t scared of breaking our Switch I would absolutely try modding things here and there, or even if I didn’t I always enjoy seeing what other people can do! I’ve been having my own little strike of inspiration thanks to froggycrossing’s 30 days series. It’s reminded me to just have fun again, which is great because school is… very exhausting… so it’s nice to have ACNH to unwind with. Sometimes I log on to build and don’t get much done but still run around the areas I have decorated because it makes me happy to be there :3
    Also, welcome back to TH-cam! Glad to have you here~

  • @goobtastic

    i think mods are extremely important to many different kinds of games, especially ones that dont plan on expanding their horizons (hehehe puns) if nintendo isnt gonna update their game, then why not? making the game more immersive and fun to play with small details for aesthetics or making the game a whole different play style!! adding new elements to the game that werent added or possible before makes anch so much more fun and cool to play as you can be more creative. the selling factor of nh was that you can further customize your own island however you want, but theres a lot of things that arent possible in vanilla acnh which can leave people dissatisfied with the games playstyle. do what you want and if you dont want to mod, then dont, but let people do what they want with a game and console they spent around $300 for.

    I am so open to modding and did it with new leaf. I think my only personal concern is that I’m also not tech savvy especially when it comes to coding and it was a lot of work with new leaf, and I don’t want to accidentally brick my switch. I also get extremely overwhelmed with new items, the update last year had me in a panic to get everything and if this was available to me, I would never sleep and want to get it all

      switch modding is different from 3ds as i found out the only way to really launch between the emulated and legit switch (which is the safest way to have a modded switch) is to literally short circuit your switch to access the homebrew every time 😬 otherwise yeah i prob spent a week reading guides and figuring things out to avoid getting banned, but my modded game to my legit game are on separate consoles

  • @Fairygelic

    I don’t understand why so many ppl are against modding for acnh. This is not a competitive game once so ever and a modded island isn’t affecting anyone else’s. It’s different from modding on games like Mario kart or smash when modding could literally be considered cheating. But I see doing this on Acnh as harmless sense most ppl are just doing it for aesthetic purposes. I feel like it would actually be smart of Nintendo to allow this for Acnh because it would rekindle lots of peoples passion and excitement for this game!!! Personally, after watching a modded island tour video, I’m super excited to start playing again!

    All of these mods are so beautiful! I’d really love to see the animal crossing community embrace these instead of shun them and anyone who uses them. Animal crossing is not a competitive game so I have no idea why people are so against modding to begin with. I’d love to see a day where we can upload beautifully modded islands without the fear of people mass reporting :/ however that may take Nintendo themselves to embrace mods as well, something I’m not sure if I ever see them doing.

  • @CampingforCool41
    @CampingforCool41 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Those items are so beautiful why couldn’t they be in vanilla 😭 it sucks that Nintendo is so uptight about mods, how do they not understand that more people would play the game if it had more freedom like this. I especially wish there was a way to more easily decorate like the system they have in the dlc. Terraforming each little square and trying to place items one by one is such a pain in the ass and not relaxing or fun for me at all. It’s just tedious and prevents me from experimenting.

    I never understood the controversy around modding… like, it’s not illegal. Just let people play the game however they want.
    If someone mods Minecraft, the sims, so on suddenly it’s “yay mods! So cool!” ,etc. but the MOMENT it’s animal crossing suddenly it’s a crime.
    I’ve never experienced modded animal crossing, and I don’t think I’ll be able to any time soon, but I’ll happily watch others enjoy it!

    I’ve never really thought about modding my switch because I was always scared that somehow Nintendo would find it and delete it (and I know that has a very small chance of happening unless it’s a DA) but also because I’ve never really seen many content creators with modded switches, so I wasn’t aware of all the possibilities! I don’t think I can really mod my switch though, as my computer is very old and probably wouldn’t be able to handle it! If I do get a new simulated sometime soon, I’ll definitely look into modding though! You’ve truly opened my eyes for SO MANY things! If you weren’t here on TH-cam I probably would have stopped playing the game for a LONG LONG time until I found more inspiration! Modding is actually such a big thema for PC-games. Much indie-dev's even encourage modding because it's just free content for youre game. Before the switch, i modded my nintendo 3ds.
    But with my switch i'm a bit scared that i could break stuff. Because for me, the nintendo switch was a lot of money, which i couldn't afford to replace immediatly if something would go wrong xx.
    And as i just found out, i have a patched switch. Nintendo really don't want anything to do with mods ^^''.

    my only hesitancies for modding acnh are not being able to share dream addresses and the daunting risks of modding a game console. i don't know much at all about stardew and how that modding community operates but i've been in the sims community and using sims mods for many, many years. the main differences for me between the sims modding vs acnh modding is that 1. putting mods into a folder and being able to take them out whenever you want feels so lightweight and thoughtless, other than for ts4 when a new update comes out and it breaks some mods until the creators fix them, it's not an issue at all vs what seems to be a permanent change to your switch (correct me if i'm wrong, i haven't looked very far into any details about what it takes to mod your switch) 2. nintendo being vehemently against modding and actively punishing people who mod their game vs ea who celebrated and welcomes modding and custom content. though these are only a couple of reasons, they're enough to scare me into not being comfortable in modding acnh so i will sadly continue to let my copy of acnh rest until i (hopefully, someday) feel inspired again to continue decorating my island within the constraints nintendo has given us :/

Whether it be the Sims, Minecraft or Stardewvalley, looking for mods has always been one of my favorite things. Unfortunately I'm very broke and super scared of bricking my switch since I really can't just get a new one. I had to scrape everything I had together to get my current one so I can't afford losing it. I wish Nintendo was more open to the idea. I mean what harm is a cute little tree mod gonna do? Now that the game is in it's ts final build and almost all of the devs have moved on, I don't see a point in banning modding. It would keep the game thriving for way longer!

    I got into ACNH in 2021, and only recently have i been so immersed that I have joined online ACNH spaces (watching videos, Nookazon, Reddit pages, etc.) I had no idea that you could mod it until maybe 1 month ago, and of course that knowledge was immediately followed with the discourse of "cheating" with modded game systems and time traveling. I'll be the one to say it, as someone who missed the initial online conversations about modding and time travel, I don't get the issue. I think creators talking more about modding is great, because I'll be honest, the only thing holding me back is a lack of information on the subject. If I saw more people safely modding and including the information they have, I would 100% do it.

    I am not interested in hacking my own switch at all but I am excited to see new decorating content for ACNH thanks to these mods.
    I've never even played Sims 4 and fell off playing years ago w/ sims 2 but still watch Sims 4 decorating video to this day. I feel that way about this new modding. I don't have the interest in putting the time into modding an island myself but would gladly watch others do it.

    I really really wanna mod my island so bad since I‘ve been part of the acnl modding community back in 2015-2018 but I sadly have a patched switch…and buying a unpatched one is so expensive… I wish we could be able to mod even with a patched console…for the soundtrack replacement alone, the old soundtracks are so much better

    Personally, I don't think mods are worth the risks. At least not with Nintendo and I would enjoy people doing more island tours without mods so we can still see truly beautiful islands that don't use hacks. I didn't realize so many of the island tours I've seen were of modded games and it made me feel like garbage that my islands weren't as cool. I didn't realize it's because they were breaking the rules and I wasn't.
    P.S. I dont have a problem with Mods in animal crossing I think the creative freedom it offers is totally awesome, I just wish that people were more upfront in their videos that they are modded and would love to see island tours without them.

      if you say it outright in the vid description, title and sometimes in the vids. nintendo will make yt take down your vid. and can also ban your yt account. There is creators who use a diffrent word for saying that their switch is modded and is magic or spicy

    • @moldyvoldy1231
      @moldyvoldy1231 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SeaSaltedBiscuit I have watched hundreds of island tours wishing I had the ability to decorate my island as beautiful as some of the people in the videos never understand why I could never get mine to look that way only to discover that most people have modded their switches. Code words would be welcome, but I personally have only come across 2 or 3 that have openly stated in some fashion that their systems are not factory. It's frustrating to not have some sort of transparency. That was the point of my comment.

    Happy for those that are able to mod and refresh the game but my problem is for those who can’t. I would love to be able to do half the stuff shown in this video but I don’t have a switch that can be jailbroken and I am not interested in trying to find one just so I can try to keep up with everyone else. If modding starts to become widespread over what’s left of the acnh community I think this will truly ruin the game for me. Also, I don’t think this is comparable to the other modding communities of different games because, again, you need a jailbroken switch. Idk I’m about the possibilities but also feel like I’m being left out

    Modding should be allowed. It does not hurt anybody. Nor their progress. Many people uses in game exchange system and communicate via apps to agree on exchange. Also having new stuff to work with is so important, since they wont do any more updates, people should be able to work with mods.
