@@hhaste Starting rookies who never had a chance to learn from a veteran first is pretty much a recipe for failure. It's not fair to the kids they're recruiting and not fair to the fans who have to watch the team suck.
It checks out, Grossi is how old? 30 something? The packers have had good qb’s for 30ish years? I think he made a deal with the devil as a small child.
Packer fans owe a lot to Rodgers for him convincing Tom to come back to GB and the Packers for bringing him back. That was all Rodgers looking out for Love's future.
Ron Wolf/Mike Holmgren changed the quarterback culture in GB. It goes beyond Wolf trading a first round pick for a 3rd string Atlanta quarterback. Look at some of the quarterbacks that were drafted while Favre was in GB. Many went on to have good NFL careers of their own. Mark Brunell (stared 151 games) Ty Detmer (1990 Heisman Winner), Matt Hasselbeck (started 131 games in the NFL, Aaron Brooks (Saints Hall of Fame), Kurt Warner (undrafted in GB, but won a Superbowl elsewhere), Danny Wuerffel (1996 Heisman Winner), Doug Pederson (Super Bowl winning coach), & Aaron Rodgers. Holmgren's coaching staff - Jon Gruden, Dick Jauron, Steve Mariucci, Andy Reid, Ray Rhodes, Marty Mornhinweg, Mike Sherman, and Jim Zorn (all became head coaches at some point in their careers). Favre, Rodgers, & Love is only part of the story!
I'd go even higher than that. The Packers board of directors in the 70's and 80's was a mess. It wasn't until they got their act together and hired Bob Harlan in '89 where things started to change a bit. So many folks in there who just didn't know the first thing about running a football team in that era. But once Harlan hired Wolf and then Holmgren, it changed for decades. In fact I wore my mid-90's Packers jacket out earlier today and was just thinking about this.
@@kjell1979 Bob Harlan was also awesome! He handled the Milwaukee situation perfectly. He made that transition go very well when they decided to leave Milwaukee. Milwaukee ticket holders appreciated him! Hiring Ron Wolf was his best move, however!
@@kjell1979 I was gonna mention Bob Harlan, as he deserves a lot of credit for the Packers turn around. I'd also credit their acquisition of Reggie White in Free Agency. Before that, Green Bay was kind of a desert when it came to getting great free agents, but White coming to Green Bay opened the door for getting other good Free Agents.
Its Tom Clements He was the QB coach for Favre, Rodgers, and Love They all look similar because they have a phenomenal coach behind them breaking them down and rebuilding them
Its insane how cool he stays in the pocket. That throw against KC where he starts to run then resets his feet in the MIDDLE of a collapsing pocket to throw a td was insane!
Jordan Love totally exposed the Hot Take sports industry. Adversity happens. How a player deals with is the most revealing thing. And Love sure looks like he understands how to resolve problems in his game. Plus elevating that incredibly young offensive roster? Pretty amazing!

He was tossed into such a terrible media situation immediately out of the draft and has handled it with nothing but maturity and class over the years. To see him finally getting to play and shut some people up has been really nice to see. He deserves it. I can already tell he's gonna be a really great team leader for years to come.

I’d like to say that I’m super proud of Jordan Love, I was also worried about how he would play, until I watched him play in the first preseason game, I knew he would do good, I also knew that he was playing with a young offense and I wasn’t expecting him to win all their games. I am proud of what he and his teammates were able to do. Everyone just wants to throw hate at the Packers and I think that’s bad, it just shows who the real Packer fans are. Congrats to The Green Bay Packers for a good season. Now go Beat Dallas. Love The Green Bay Packers see you at the Super Bowl. If not just know you will always have me cheering you on.
Honestly the TD throw Jordan Love makes in that week 17 game against the Vikings where he basically does a 180° hop is one of my favorites to watch from a body language, mechanics, and animated standpoint
When Favre was there they drafted and developed a lot of QBs Warner, Bruenell, Hasselbeck, Doug Pederson and a few others. And Holmgrens coaching tree is insane
@@ElvisRose_ Same as Andy Reid who's also from the Holmgren And he's forever goated for being the first memed NFL person (Mike Holmgren's theater play as a college sophomore singing went viral in the mid 90s on ESPN which was the social media viral equivalent in that time)

Jordan Love was called a bust based on 6-7 games, and is now being called a future HoFer based on 6-7 games. Can't we wait a season or two before jumping to conclusions? Lmao 😂
he had all the things you wanted to see in the first few games, but could work on the accuracy. those calling him a bust were not taking a close look. now that the packers are doing as well as they did with Rodgers last year, everybody has to take a close look. and what they see in Love is a great foundation and skillset to be a top qb going forward
Amen! Players emerge out of nowhere, and disappear just as fast in the NFL. Here today, gone today. I'm a long suffering Giants fan, and most of NY was convinced that Tommy Devito was the second coming, a football Christ, who was going to get us a Lombardi trophy after winning 3 in a row against shitty teams.
I sometimes wonder how many good QBs the NFL has wasted by just tossing them into the fire. I feel like QB play would improve greatly across the board if every rookie was given a season or 3 to sit and learn
I think that the environment matters. If the coaching is good and the roster is aswell sitting isnt necessary for all Situations. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson developed while playing early. I doubt that sitting would matter much if the Organisation isnt good in that regards.
Alex Smith is the poster child for this hypothesis of mine. He went #1 to the 49ers and started as a rookie, he then had 8 different offensive coordinators over his first 8 seasons. It is impossible to succeed like that. I think if Rodgers goes #1 to San Fran he is a journey man QB and if Smith goes 24 to GB he becomes a HOF QB.
To your point about Mahomes, he's actually mentioned on his interview with New Heights that the year he sat behind Alex Smith was incredibly useful for his development
Not just that, but the way Smith mentored was what made the difference. Rodgers didn't get that with Favre, to say the least. Love did get some of that from Rodgers.
Seriously though, how *do* they keep doing this?? Only three QBs since 1992 is insane. Even teams that have had relative stability at the position this century (like Atlanta, surprisingly) have had more than that in less time!
I'm 35 and we've only ever had 11 different quarterbacks start in my entire life. And of those 11, three started two or less games. That doesn't even seem like a real stat. Very fortunate.
Another Niner fan - I have been saying for a while Brock Purdy benefitted from 4 full seasons in college in a top level conference. Plus he played 4 Bowl games and a Big 12 Championship. The one thing he does miles better than Trey Lance and a lot better Jimmy G is handling the situation when plays start breaking down. He just processes what's going on faster and I think its because of those 4 hard years in college where he had to develop that skill. PLUS he also played in those big stadiums with massive hostile crowds. Trey Lance and Jimmy G both didn't have that same level of college experience. It was really noticeable in Trey Lance. Jimmy G. (who I think got badly treated) is great when plays work as planned, but struggles when they don't. Plus he served his pro-apprenticeship in New England which built around pocket passing. I'd like to see him go back to New England where I think might shine. I think the Niners just got damn lucky with Purdy and we should just be damn grateful he's the right guy at the right time. It might have been so easy to not even put him on the roster. Brady went 199th in his draft and New England could have easily dumped him too. Sometimes you just get lucky.
He is Fun to watch. I work at Lambeau Field as an employee and seeing him grow into the QB he is now is really sweet. Die Hard Broncos fan for life but the Packers are my fav team in the NFC. Best of luck to them in the Playoffs.
It is more a matter of happy circumstances in the draft. Theere was a QB they liked available for a pick they could afford when the current starter was getting old but still played well. Owner no owner neither matters so much as opportunity knocking. Unless you know your owner is a real buffoon. Like tat guy in Dallas.
@@kurtwicklund8901you dont know what you are talking about. Packers front office was sending a VERY CLEAR message to Rodgers with the love pick. That draft was heralded as like the best WR class ever and the packers were a WR needy team and what did they do? They traded up in the first round to get a QB and didnt draft a single WR.
Time was when all rookie quarterbacks were expected to serve as backups for all or part of their first season while they studied the playbook and got acclimated to the pace of NFL football. How did all but one team forget how effective this was?
But the packers are less effected by those things due to not having an owner, and rather, a democracy of people who love the franchise and are Midwest nice
I think it's because Greenbay doesn't have a traditional owner like the rest of the NFL and so they don't have the interference and meddling and infighting the way other teams do
It’s because it’s community owned or fan owned. Wanna know another really good sports team that’s owned exactly like that. FC Barcelona. The Green Bay packers are a publicly held non profit corporation. Non-profit is music to my ears. The club does not allow corporate ownership. They are actually the only team allowed this exception cause they have been a public non profit since 1923. That’s right 100 years and they were granted the exception because they were a non profit since before the NFL allowed corporate ownership. It’s not about money. Obviously they need to make money to be an NFL team but they are about community, football, and winning.
So true! Without a fat cat owner meddling there is far less stress and much more respect for and within the organization. As an "owner" I'm extremely proud of what we represent in the world of sports. Wisconsin has sports teams to be proud of! Brewers, Bucks and Packers who could ask for more? Small market? No we're world wide!!!
It's funny how getting to know your teammates, letting them get to know you, and not expecting rookies and 2nd year players to learn everything through osmosis and death stares can improve a team's chemistry.
@@SocialExperiment232 I agree. Historically, we have QB issues. I consider Fields an issue because he may be traded, as we have #1 draft pick. I want us to keep Fields.
"Love, falling apart under the pressure throws a record breaking 13 INTs on just 10 attempts -- I don't know how that's possible, but that's what the records show in an incredible loss to the Bears, 117 to 3"
when I watched the Broncos game, I felt that LaFleur was being particularly strange with the playcalling. it felt like he lost trust in Love after a couple tough games and was asking Love to just take checkdowns & easy ones. which led to us working from behind late in the game, so LaFleur worked in more ballsy stuff. at that point in the game, it was forced and desperate
I was at that game and in the 1st half, Love never threw the ball downfield. It was always a swing pass on 1st down for a two or three yard gain. Finally he opened up a bit in the 2nd half and it resulted in a couple of touchdowns.
@johnblaesel5493 that was the stretch where MLF clearly didn't trust him, his playcalling reflected that. there was a stretch where it was either clear deep pass play or clear short gimme play. I think MLF was worried about the incompletions so he gave Love high percentage throws, but those only got dink and dunk type yardage
@johnblaesel5493 sure, but I would argue that he couldn't play like he is now with that playcalling. he started out hot, the transition period was just tough to find something they both felt good with
This is only his first season as the starter so there is still a lot to see with him. But what I will say that helps the Packers land consistent QBs is time. Packers don't draft QBs when they NEED a QB, they draft QBs for the future when their current franchise QB is still active. Rodgers at behind Favre for a few seasons, learning the offense, learning the NFL, seeing how a HOF QB plays. Jordan sat behind Rodgers for a few seasons and did the exact same thing. Packers QB aren't starting their rookie season. Most rookie QBs fail for this reason, they aren't ready and they don't even get the time to get ready. If that rookie QB sucks for a season and a half he's done. He's drafted to a bad team with likely has a bad OL, mediocre or bad defense, and maybe 1 target to throw too. Packers have a draft formula and it works out. Same happens with them at WR.
What people forget is that Jordan Love is the veteran player in this offense. It's not your usual circumstance with a first year starter, and it's definitely benefited Love towards having more leadership in his first year starting than you'd typically see
100% The QB needs to be the leader on the offense, doesn't matter who else is out there, if the QB isn't a leader, your offense will not succeed. Rookies are not ready to lead in the NFL.
@@derekgill5953Cause they are in no rush. Most franchise is on freefall on that position they don't have time to develop even if they have a servicable bridge QB. Bad game? Change the QB.
Whoah! Halfway through watching this I realize that it was posted BEFORE the Packers playoff win over the Cowboys. Pretty impressive Perna, pretty impressive. And spot on.
He's had like 8 good games this year, too. People need to chill lol. Let's see how he plays tomorrow, and let's see if his recent success continues into next season after teams have tape on him and figure out ways to slow him down. But again, he's had a ton of bad to average games and playing well for 3-4 games in a row doesn't mean anything really, unless you're a GB QB apparently.
@@MFBloosh only QB in the NFL with a passer rating over 100 in 9 games, youngest team in NFL history to ever make the post season; and a statistically better 1st year than both his predecessors, finishing second overall for passing touchdowns.... but okay; I guess that doesn't mean anything.
I love that Grossi gave you a chance to recant your take and you boldly gladly didn’t. 😂😂 The words, the tone and the demeanor saying “bro, take that back”😂😂😂
During training camp, the whole conversation from the Packers WR's & O-line re: Love was how excited they were for him and how they couldn't wait to start playing with him. Jordan Love had this team's trust and loyalty the whole season, and he's continuing to trying to build relationships with his teammates, especially his receivers. Now, he could have 5-7 legitimate good targets to throw to next year. Defensive strategy against Love and the Packers for the next 2-3 years could easily become "pick your poison"; which receiver are you going to have to leave open to let him and Love shred you to pieces?
It's crazy how Love is making absolute unknowns into game-winning stars. Even as a Packer fan I had no idea who Bo Melton or Tucker Kraft were until a few months ago
Some teams need to stop thinking that every QB is gona be like Mahomes and Brady and be a star in the first season. That rarely happens. Give these boys time.
Don't forget, Brett Favre sat behind pro bowl quarterback Chris Miller as a rookie in Atlanta and wasn't the immediate starter in Green Bay as they started Don Majowkskwwowooaaowosaski at first.
I was at Utah State with Jordan for his Junior and Senior season. Loved watching him play, and I think he can be great with talent around him. Love that the team is young and is going to grow together.
im so glad you made an entire video on love, his ups and downs this season need to be talked about, he is going to be a legit qb for years to come and I cant wait to watch him get better
Green Bay's pass protection is WAY better than the Bronco's pass protection. Hell, Mike McGlinchey lost his job in San Francisco because his pass protection is atrocious, and that's who the Broncos brought in at right tackle. Yep. That's a recipe for success, right there...
@@wyotriumphriderOur pass pro this season has actually been very middle of the road by basically every metric. It was even flat out bad during the 4 game losing streak. Love has gotten way better at compensating for it by getting the ball out super fast and avoiding pressure as he’s developed through the season. It’s definitely not a dominant Oline that the packers have had in previous years while also not being terrible.

I cant even imagine what could have been all the "bust" QB picked top 15 if given this much patience instead of throwing them in action the first year and discarding them after the rookie contract end
From one hyperbolic take to another. "He sucks! He's great!". This is why our Broncos can't have nice things. We evaluate all of our QB's just like you've evaluated Love at different times this season.

Love era will be different. Packers will get 2 Super Bowls, and will also be beating the 49ers consistently. The two Super Bowls will come in Super Bowl 60 and 69. In 2035, Packers will be the first team to complete the perfect season since the 1972 season.
Saying this as a Packers fan, you are my favorite Broncos TH-camr on TH-cam. You’re the only one I watch, but that Back to the Future segment actually gave me chills. You sir, are an artist.
I’ve been a Packers fan since the Ice Bowl in 1966. I was so happy to see AR-12 go to the NYJets! He had become a whining, self-centered, HOF dude incapable of winning the big game of the NFC Championship. The loss to Tampa Bay was just over the top. The public discussion of his use of hallucinogenic drugs and alcohol drinking combined with his ridiculous contract convinced me that it was time to try anyone else out at QB. Hopefully JL-10 will work out and he won’t start sharing about his private life. I’m hopeful.

Funny video….laughed several times. One clip you needed was when the Packers played the Eagles and Love and Hurts met to shake hands. Those two jerseys side by side from the back is Gold!
I just love the fact that Perna was so ready to pass judgment on Jordan love. Which kind of shows you how the Broncos seem to evaluate QB Talent. I'm pretty sure we're seeing Denver in the midst of their QB Purgatory which will probably continue for the rest of Patrick Mahomes career hopefully lol
I think one of the best points that you made. And this video made is that jordan had time to build relationships with his teammates and coaches. This allows for him to be a better leader. Totally makes sense
As a life long Packer fan lived with nothing but hall of fame QB play, it was very tragic to see 4 weeks of bad QB play. I will slowly, but surely recover
1 of my biggest achievements in my football career was being right about love when we drafted him. I was happy and excited when we drafted love. And I was a Rodgers die-hard...but...I saw some amazing things from Love in college that I thought if coached right he would be a star. I was also roasted by almost every one....... Feels good being right😂
Nice breakdown, I’m a way back packers fan. Back in the 90s we use to draft and sign qbs, Brunel, hasslebeck, (Kurt warner briefly )they sat behind Favre developed then we traded them. A lot of people wont remember that. We had grudgen, Reid, holmgren, its been ran that way for a long time. So its not luck, but the broncos did draft Jon elway. He was epic. Jay cutler not so much. I haven’t drank bourbon since Denver beat us in SB. Great vid
Lifelong GB fan here, and I can’t help but notice that maybe, since we don’t have e one single owner breathing down our necks just demanding we buy or build a SB team every year, we have some space to try this long game approach to solving the key position in FB. If Love does turn into the next franchise QB, imagine: it might be nearly 45 years of just 3 people starting at that position, each one an elite player. Has any other sports team ever done that?
@thatsgoodsports - first time listener to your breakdown and I am smiling ear to ear. I laughed, cried...ok I didn't cry but you had me belly laughing at so many moments I thought my cheese curds were going to come back up! I will definitely stay tuned and I look forward to more content. Great Job!
As a Bears fan, I hate to say it, but I think Love is the real deal. And, honestly, I think a long, hotly-contested rivalry between him and Fields could be the thing both fanbases need.

Ball deep with love (Jordan love?)
Honestly the TD throw Jordan Love makes in that week 17 game against the Vikings where he basically does a 180° hop is one of my favorites to watch from a body language, mechanics, and animated standpoint
When Favre was there they drafted and developed a lot of QBs
Warner, Bruenell, Hasselbeck, Doug Pederson and a few others.
And Holmgrens coaching tree is insane
It certainly bears more fruit than the Belichick coaching tree.
Aaron Brooks was decent. There was also Ty Detmer FWIW.

Same as Andy Reid who's also from the Holmgren
And he's forever goated for being the first memed NFL person (Mike Holmgren's theater play as a college sophomore singing went viral in the mid 90s on ESPN which was the social media viral equivalent in that time)
@ElvisRose_ shit. Pick any one coach off Holmgrens tree.....any coach......and that coach will be better than any the Bill produced.😊😊

Reid
Sherman
Jauron
Mornhinweg

As a New Mexican Packers fan, this video really makes me feel seen Brandon. Thank you.
same bro! *high five*
Same here! 💚💛
Me too!
I was just coming into the comments to say the same thing. Lol
Same same
Jordan Love was called a bust based on 6-7 games, and is now being called a future HoFer based on 6-7 games. Can't we wait a season or two before jumping to conclusions? Lmao 😂
Thank YOU! Say it again!
That's not going to get likes, clicks or clout... So no
he had all the things you wanted to see in the first few games, but could work on the accuracy. those calling him a bust were not taking a close look. now that the packers are doing as well as they did with Rodgers last year, everybody has to take a close look. and what they see in Love is a great foundation and skillset to be a top qb going forward
My dad keeps saying the same thing 😂 wait til next year.
I was coming to say this. Almost like letting them learn helps in the long run
I think that the environment matters. If the coaching is good and the roster is aswell sitting isnt necessary for all Situations. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson developed while playing early.
I doubt that sitting would matter much if the Organisation isnt good in that regards.
Vikings are a good example of that
Alex Smith is the poster child for this hypothesis of mine.
It’s almost like patience and keeping a staff together is a good thing
8:10 that snap is literally what sold me on him. The composure and maturity there was amazing. Glad you noted it!
Bc dumb fans think if you draft the top QB in the class, they will be good. Every. Fucking. Year.
@@Titter2 Only Love, Rodgers, and Favre of those were ever actual GB starting QBs.
As a 49er fan that lives in New Mexico, you just won this sub. Green Chile is life here.
Are Hatch red chiles an acceptable substitute in limited cases?
This is what not having an owner does, no snap decisions. It’s a double edge sword. Change will always be slow, for good or bad.
What's been slow about this? It's been A year and the Packers are in the exact same spot as they were with rodgers lol

Was looking for this comment 😂
Time was when all rookie quarterbacks were expected to serve as backups for all or part of their first season while they studied the playbook and got acclimated to the pace of NFL football. How did all but one team forget how effective this was?
Greed and ego are very prevalent in todays car salesman world
But the packers are less effected by those things due to not having an owner, and rather, a democracy of people who love the franchise and are Midwest nice
No we're world wide!!!

when I watched the Broncos game, I felt that LaFleur was being particularly strange with the playcalling. it felt like he lost trust in Love after a couple tough games and was asking Love to just take checkdowns & easy ones. which led to us working from behind late in the game, so LaFleur worked in more ballsy stuff. at that point in the game, it was forced and desperate
@@47jakobi If Jordan Love played in that game like he is now, we would have routed the Broncos.
@johnblaesel5493 sure, but I would argue that he couldn't play like he is now with that playcalling. he started out hot, the transition period was just tough to find something they both felt good with
@@47jakobi Well, he’s playing much better now, therefore, LaFleur is expanding his horizons.
It's not your usual circumstance with a first year starter, and it's definitely benefited Love towards having more leadership in his first year starting than you'd typically see
100%
The QB needs to be the leader on the offense, doesn't matter who else is out there, if the QB isn't a leader, your offense will not succeed. Rookies are not ready to lead in the NFL.
Idk why the Packers are literally one of the only teams that does this.

@@donsoloshe like reading and experimenting on some stuff.

Green Bay's pass protection is WAY better than the Bronco's pass protection. Hell, Mike McGlinchey lost his job in San Francisco because his pass protection is atrocious, and that's who the Broncos brought in at right tackle. Yep. That's a recipe for success, right there...
@@wyotriumphriderOur pass pro this season has actually been very middle of the road by basically every metric. It was even flat out bad during the 4 game losing streak.
