DET did sign Cam Sutton, then picked up Moseley, Gardner-Johnson at S, re-signed Anzalone, Cominsky. Then picked up Branch, LB, DT, and they grabbed a WR late. I know a bit of this was mentioned, but they went like all defense in FA beside Montgomery. Montgomery has like 2/11 gtd or something it’s not exactly a big deal. So while I wasn’t a big fan of getting Gibbs where they got him, they did spend money on defense in FA. The CB they took at 45 was considered a massive steal. The LB they took did win the Butkus award, Nagurski-Woodson DPOY, this year at Iowa and B10 DPOY. He also won the William V Campbell Award, College Football’s Top Scholar/leadership/on field excellence. Two time academic B10 honoree also. Picked up a decent amount of sacks, couple TDs and a safety. Led B10 in total tackles in 21 and 22, #2 in NCAA in 21, and #1 in assted tackles in NCAA in 21. Also with all the talk about his athleticism, at scouting combine his athleticism tested as one of the best at his position. He actually was going to play TE at one point DET drafts guys based more than just based on mocks. He definitely has a type, and he’s done well so far. Again I didn’t like RB at 12, that’s my real gripe, but at least they got an extra 4th next yr for Swift and a tiny move up in the 7th. Tbh I wasn’t even expecting a 4th for Swift lol. Overall I think DET did well in FA/Draft combined. I do think a playoff berth is ambitious, but that’s not really on my mind too much. I just want to see how the young guys grow…and hopefully Hendon can be a starter next year that’d be fantastic. At least they didn’t give up two 1sts and a quarter billy for Cam Newton. I love Cam but the team isn’t ready for something like that yet. Much love ✌️
