As a junior doctor, I loved reading these comments. We love our patients and I've devoted my entire life to helping people, because I love people and think they're amazing. We are so tired, overworked (so much overtime with no pay), underpaid and I actually struggle to even pay for my exams yearly (thousands of pounds) on £14/hr. These comments just really beautiful and it's so nice to know the public are behind us. I love you guys and please know the last thing we want to do is strike!

I thank you for your dedication and I believe the doctors deserve a rise. But 35% is an outrageous demand and the system cannot sustain it. I believe this country is perilously close to bankruptcy for a number of reasons.
When I entered the nursing profession I went in with my eyes wide open and certainly didn’t go into for the money. Am TOTALLY against strike action and consider it a dereliction of duty to do so. MORE people will die. And if the health professions are not careful they will gradually lose public support.
One other thing that’s actually getting more coverage is that the calibre of both doctors and nurses is going downhill which is a huge worry for all.

And the vast majority of the people love you for what you do for us. We are 100℅ on your side. The government just doesn't care about ordinary people. We should all be on strike. Must be nice for MPs to have access to private health care because they can afford it. They have no idea what it's like waiting in the ER in agony, waiting to be seen but takes so long because there are not enough people. In Canada doctors & other essential staff can’t strike but if they don’t agree to a contract they go to binding arbitration with an independent arbitrator… they get paid much better that UK doctors and this system has worked much better for workers than in the UK where strikes are allowed for essential staff. The whole system is riddled with problems, incompetence and bullying. Short term we need urgent reform and a huge cash injection to prevent a total meltdown of the NHS. Longer term, a system like the Canadian one where wage rises are settled completely independently (with no government fiddling or pressurising) would be very helpful. If we had used such a system, junior doctors, nurses, ambulance staff, teachers, police, fire service and every other public service worker would have had years worth of fair pay rises and would not need to be making large pay increases because pay would not have been allowed to fall so far behind.

@@georgechambers4617 sorry but I trained in the nhs but it wasn’t until lived and worked overseas that I realised that are actually many countries with infinitely better health systems than the uk.
In the case of the US their system is very divisive and unfair.
I migrated to Australia and there, while not perfect it knocks spots off the NHS . And I have a heavy heart in saying that! Out here people earning over a certain income are taxed extra if they don’t have private health insurance. But they still have the choice of using the public system. The private system helps to take the pressure off the public system. However, there is a risk of over servicing. That’s happening in the uk too.private health is a lot to do with profit.
A number of smart people are simply saving the money that they would spend each month on private health insurance in a seperate bank account for health care should they need it.
Some years ago I suffered a very major stroke . I was treated in a public hospital as a public patient and I could not fault the care and attention I received.
Finally, the pay and working conditions, especially the work/life balance have always been much better out here. Why do think health care professionals leave the nhs to come here? Though I do believe this continual “poaching” needs to stop. The UK needs to train more of own plus the fees incurred are now obscenely expensive because university has lost focus and has become a business. But that’s another issue for another day.

So they want a 35 percent wage increase? That’s huge for every doctor in the country, they literally have a blue light card which pretty much gives discount to pretty much everything! The day the police and especially firefighters get given the same increase then sure you should have them too! Doctors save lives which is amazing! And valued but police (sometimes) and the fire service always risk there own lives every single day!

Imagine paying to get in to a career that you know isn’t going to pay you what you want. These are supposedly meant to be the smartest people in the country.
Ask yourself, would you actively pursue a career, pay thousands and thousands of £ to achieve it. Then when you achieve your goal, complain you don’t earn enough 🤔. Come on man. I’m sick of all this noise. No one forced you to become a Dr. No one forced you to take all those exams. No one forced you to do all that training. And no one is forcing you to keep doing it. You chose this career knowing what the earning potential was. Be quiet and do your job. If you don’t like it any more, no one is forcing you to stay. Quit.

Listen mate, I've recently spent two months in hospital, and the consultants have a superiority complex, and walk around the hospital with five or six hangers on listening to the consultant and not the patients. Rounds, as they call it, is a joke. One consultant covering hundreds of patients is ridiculous. Junior doctors have absolutely no input until they become qualified, so should sit back and wait before they start making such demands. I mean 35%. Are they joking?

@@pleasantville4529 I agree with you. Please don't get me started on GPs. Our GPs disappeared from the beginning of the Covid lockdown until well after it ended. It's the tax payer who should be getting a rebate from their £90,000 to £140,000 average salary.

So bored of breakdown of our services. Maybe we should take away the welfare system, and see how everyone likes that? Yes we need more staff, but quite frankly all of these pay rise strikes, holding EVERYONE hostage with their demands is out of control. Yes there is a cost of living crisis, but anyone who understands anything about economics, you don't pay more during a recession or high inflation because it just exacerbates it. The reality is that everyone is going to have to go through a difficult time in order to stabilize the economy. Stop cancellation of services - you're threatening the lives of so many people. Soon robots/AI will take over from many industries including the medical profession, and then people will truly know what it is to not have an income.

I have never heard of an NHS patient sharing a ward with a patient who is a doctor of medicine. It isn't a 'perk' it's something, knowing the advantages, they are fortunate enough to afford. The one word that most patients associate with the NHS is 'waiting'. All the way down the long weary path to conclusion, at every stage it's 'waiting', 'waiting', 'waiting'.
