Would you really want a man like this running your country???
He served as an NCO in the British Army, after leaving the army he was unable to hold down a job for any significant period of time.
He served as a mercenary for short periods in Mozambique and Sir Lanka but departed those countries long before the wars were over.
Robin has no qualifications or experience which would make him suitable to run any country.
He is a hypocrite and a warmonger encouraging further escalation in a war that he is unwilling to fight in himself.
If Robin was running this country we would have been destroyed by a nuclear war more than a year ago.

AS a RCT recruit in Aldershot in 84, i am well aware of what the Paras could and would do. Until myself and several other recruits were chased out of town, well they were, i sat there eating my chips from the chip shop. Mr Para asked me why i did not run away, i replied that if they were going to beat me up anyway, i might as well enjoy my chips. They stole my chips but gave me back the the bag with 1 chip in it. One guy said, you aint big enough to be a Para but you got some balls. That was week 3 in training, week 4 and above saw me get best Recruit at passing out parade. 162 That is down to that 1 Para that gave me 1 chip back and spoke to me alone after everyone else ran off. Motivation.

I was born and raised in the Bogside in Derry. I lived through the troubles, and I clearly recall most of the violent incidents all the way through from 1968 until the present day when violence is almost completely non-existent. I agree with some of the previous comments that this man comes across as very intelligent and articulate and by his own account has certainly led a very action packed and interesting life. I'm a proud Irishman, and I have no hesitation in saying that over a 30 year period, 95% of the British soldiers who had any contact with me going about my daily life in Derry were pretty decent young guys, no complaints whatsoever about their behaviour, but let's get real, they weren't all angels folks. Some of them behaved in a disgraceful manner. And that's putting it mildly. But I switched off when he started to quote the tiny number of armed forces members who have ever been convicted of killings in Ireland, and his ludicrous claim that ''almost 100% of the people they killed were killed in defence of the public". The reason for that tiny number of convictions of army killers is that the killings certainly were not fully investigated and there was a reluctance on the part of the police, the judiciary and the people in power at the very top to bring the crown forces killers to justice. I could rhyme off about a dozen names of people whom I knew personally who were killed by British troops without justification. And we'll set aside the Bloody Sunday massacre which has been examined in minute detail and the whole world knows what happened there so we'll leave it at that. I had a 15 year old friend who was shot by a soldier with a high powered rifle as he was sharing chips that he'd just bought with his first weeks wages. A totally innocent child. I knew a guy who was shot whilst he was a passenger on a regular city bus minding his own business as it travelled past an army base when a bored soldier opened fire on the bus as it drove by. I exchanged a "hello" with a young man in his 20's dressed in a suit as he walked past me and a group of friends, he was shot dead a few seconds later from a sandbag post and the army issued a statement claiming he was a gunman. There have been DOZENS of well documented unlawful killings by British forces in Ireland. And many more that were kept hushed up. www.impartialreporter.com/news/23049557.new-information-pitchfork-murders-heard-commemorative-event/ And the British government just this week in 2023 have rushed a "Troubles legacy bill" through Westminster to ensure that no further Army killers will ever be brought before the courts.

Nice honest interview with Robin and very interesting, although I have read about his life before. Robin makes a very valid point when he discusses the interpretation of "killings" in NI and the difference between an academics choice of words and someone who has been there and on the ground. When he descibes his position as a soldier and neither side being his more preferred cause, I am an Ulsterman and lived in an area that was always in the fore of the news. It was a friendly, mixed community of good friends that were divided by political failures. I could have very easily, as many of my friends did, joined the ranks of this organisation or the other. It was not however what or how my parents raised me and when I came of age I joined the British Army. I chose to serve the people of my homeland and tried to play some small part in ridding our land of terrorists, from whence they came, religion and politics were but words. I'd like to think I served fairly and represented all that was good and tackled all that was bad equally and I had and have never had any problems in using lethal force against any person, group or organisation that may have placing lives at risk. We owe a debt of gratitude to all who served and we owe them all, more than money can buy. Thanks to so many, my children and my grandchildren, I hope will never see or experience that which I have, and whilst we may not yet have perfect peace, we've come along way, but as Robin is all to aware of, weak willed, politicians are not doing a good enough job of stopping the spread of a very different narrative on what reall happened. Great job James and thanks Robin.
