When Does Hair Grow DOWN Instead of OUT?!?! - Mens Hair Growth Problems

  • Ever wondered when your hair is finally going to start growing down instead of out????
    Yeah, samr, I used to wonder that too.
    The short answer is yes. It will grow down eventually even if you have afro hair, I mean, look at Gio’s Wave for god sake. I mean he has really REALLY long hair but you get the idea right.
    For me personally it took around about 12 - 13 months to really see a difference in the outwardness vs the downwardness of my hair growth.
    The worst thing though was thinking the whole time that my hair was just never going to look good because it suddenly becomes really hard to visualise the end goal due to the physical appearance of the hair during the more awkward stages.
    It’s almost like looking at a half made puzzle and the picture is clear until a certain amount of pieces are in place. You know what I mean?
    Anyway, I’m not sure how many of you actually struggle with this but I wanted to leave this video here for you just in case any of you really needed the reassurance haha.
    If you have any questions or want to join our supportive hair growth community. Make sure you head on over to manbunsandmanes.com/ and follow the prompts in order to gain group access.
    Until my next video, I’ll see you later!
    Yours in good hair,
    Thomas.

    It’s all about weight.. the longer it gets, the heavier it gets and the weight pulls it down. That’s why you see people who have curly hair but the longer their hair gets, the more straight and wavy it gets because gravity makes the curls drop

    The awkward stage for curly/wavy hair is like having the “karen” haircut. I have a wavy hair and im on my 4th month of growing it out w/o cutting it. The sides are already covering half my ear but the front and top is like the “karen” hairstyle lol. That’s why i mostly wear cap/beanies now. Annoying af 😂

    The thing about curly hair is that it changes so much depending how you deal with it...
    layers can help avoid the bulk in the sides, and avoid it looking to much like a triangle, also brushing it gently and letting it dry stretched can give some length to loose curl patterns (3a-3b)

    • @crankheart
      @crankheart 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      how do i let it dry stretched?

    • @Dalik1000
      @Dalik1000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@crankheart I wet it with a stray bottle or after I get out of a shower, brush it back and the hair holds straight or stretched for awhile till it starts to naturally dry which it curls back up again. If you put styling putty first and sea salt second while it's still damp but not soaking wet and style it the way you want it to hold you can get your style to hold for 6+ hours. I'm 10 months in and I have poofy curly hair when dry that is growing sideways.

  • @martinberglund1065
    @martinberglund1065 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In my 5th month of growth. I have very curly and thick hair that become very frizzy and out of control easily.
    When i comb the hair: BAAM! It get's super fluffy and get's to big. Hair just points upwards if i comb it backwards. Look like a mad professor or smth.
    A good trick i use is that i put light hold styling lotion in my hair after i shower with shampoo. I rub A LOT of it into all the hair so i consume a lot of hair lotion i might add. But it's worth it! I do like a backslick because the weight of the lotion weighs the hair down while also giving it shape and shine. The curls will have no choice but to form into nice presentable curls that way instead of being frizzy and fluffy.
    Wax however only makes it worse for me and gel makes it feel weird when it hardens. Lotion is light enough but still can tame the fluffy beast.
    Lighthold lotion is the answer for my curly hair. It actually looks half decent while growing.
    I use this product: American Crew Style Light Hold Texture Lotion.
    Will probably keep using the lotion for the continuation of growing the hair out or at least for as long as it works.
    We can do this guys!!!

    Pro tip to my fellow curly hair bros. As soon as you get in the shower, wash your face then immediately rinse your face and rinse your hair in the direction you want it to mostly flow. (Front to back for me, so i rinse my hair from my forehead and crane my head back so the water flows towards the nape of my neck.) After you rinse and while rinsing shake your hair moderately to get the soak out.
    After this, dont touch your hair. Or get it wet at all. Finish your shower as normal just protect your hair. After showering dont touch your hair. Once its hard to the touch either rock the fro or put on a hat gently and let your curls squeeze out from under it naturally. Girls go crazy especially for any curls around your ears.

    I spent most of my 20s in the military and have just found out I have really thick and curly hair when it grows out a bit (a month or two). It's also really strong and course (I've used biotin and collegen shampoo and conditioner most of my life). I dont know what to do with it now. I try tutorials and different products. Blow dryers and brushes. I guess I'll just wait it out until it is long enough for me to do more than a curly pompadour

So or should he just wash his hair with shampoo and conditioner once every week?

    I’ve been growing my hair out for 8 months now but it’s EXTREMELY curly. People literally think I have a perm. The curls are super tight. This is so annoying because it’s been 8 months and yet my hair has absolutely no length to it. And university opens soon and I’ll have to see to patients. I’m so annoyed because I now have no option but to cut my 8 months of growth. I have no idea if my hair type would ever actually grow down instead of out like an Afro.

    It took me nearly 20 months for it to grown down. A trick I used was to tie my hair in a standard ponytail early in the morning for a few hours and very slightly dampen it with barely wet hands each hour. Once you release the ponytail it hangs down much better and a bit straighter too.

    My hair reduced falling out after I did these things. I used homemade hair masks like avocado and yogurt. I avoided brushing my hair when it was wet to prevent it from breakage. Once a week, I massaged my scalp with hair oil. I cleansed my hair once or twice a week with liitllleextra cocoonnnion shampoo.

    I’ve been growing out my hair for a year now and naturally I have an Afro
    It’s puffy frizzy wavy and curly
    Throughout this year with all the ironing and blow drying
    _and hundreds of hair products_
    It goes semi down
    Unless I don’t put a bunch of products in it, iron it, and blow dry it
    It’s still naturally an Afro :/
