This video helped out a lot. Dealership quoted me $1100 to do this and I did it for around $180 or so. Took some time but saved a ton of money. Thanks!
More complicated than I imagined. It’s tucked back in there! A shop just quoted me about $1000 (4.5 hours labor roughly and including parts and tax). I think this seems right. It’s mostly labor that’s going to kill me in price! Plus I’m a union electrician, skilled but not super skilled as a pro mechanic.
DId mine lastnight. Cool air from heater too. Turn the truck off, let it cool. Open the resivoir tank and turn on and rev to about 3500 and make sure the air is bled out. This worked for me. Good luck.
Just did this. My 21 canyon won't start up now. Just a single click and nothing. No cranking. I didn't disconnect any wiring or sever anything. Any ideas?
@hyr0llr multimeters reading 12.40 V on battery, and it still just clicks with my Jumpstart kit. I'm at 110,000 miles. The starter could've gone bad but it never showed any signs
@ezekielrodriguez7731 good voltage. yeah sounds like it possible it could be thr starter. Just weird that it happened right at this thermo replacement. You dont happen to have a battery tester? To test cranking amps? And battery connections are good and tight? I had a car recently not start cuz of the battety connections being loose
71k here. I went with a Oreily one since the AC one was not good and the reily has a 2 yr warranty...i think this may be a common job we do as Canyon owners.
This is probably the best video I’ve come across on here and I’ve seen about five. Thank you.😊

@@calebmoss2081 great to hear. Glad the video helped. Cheers
The dealership in Florida quoted my wife $4800 for this, needless to say that I’m doing the change out and not the dealership
@@andrewsilbaugh5873 holy shit. For real? Thats a crazy mark up lol.
How many gallons of cooler did you use ?
@@LuisDanielPadillaBojorquez usually 2 is good enough. All depends on how much comes out

Its possible for anyone if your take your time. Nothing drastic need to be done other than moving the line like i said in the video
I just did the install I turned my truck on for about 15 mins and it’s still blowing cold air with my temp on high
@@mymireles7 and the truck is up to full temp? Do you hear the blend door actuator when you go from cold to hot/ or hot to cold.

Did you have to do the coolant temp sensor as well?
@@tooldiebum i didnt do it on this job no
it’s a pain in the ass but i did it myself.
Does the water outlet elbow have a gasket in there? Anyone know a part number for that one, if so?
@@AmyHathaway-c3p i believe i reused the original gasket on the elbow output.
@@hyr0llr awesome, thanks!

@@ezekielrodriguez7731 sounds like the battery ran low somehow. Do yu have a way to jumpstart? Or a volt meter to test battery voltage

Why are these thermostats so poor quality??? I just had to change mine. It's the first thermostat I've ever had to change on a vehicle. 89,000 miles
