Got the same feeling, I actually saw the video entirely. #M1macbookair The pauses, the transitions, the script, everything spot on. I literally did the same thing myself. Sold my desktop pc and start using an old macbook air for 30 days just to test-drive it and see if I could make the switch. Definitely some getting used to but as soon as I stop trying to do everything as I did with windows and get to know macOS, all went smoothly! About the random crashes: check if that happen when you were using the Samsung ssd attached. There is a common issue with USB port energy related, that if you are using with plug for a long time it might reboot and give the error "SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)". If not, check the console for the error log and search for the app that might be causing the issue. Usually it is software related, probably one that isn't not optimized for arm64. You might as well run a diagnose just to be sure it ain't hardware. I've already have several kernel panics and got phone support with Apple. I was having problems with an app (intel), the USB and also with some system files (I did migration from Intel machine).

I have a MacBook Air M1 since some months, which I use as a secondary laptop at home, since I am still a Windows user at my office. Actually I am pretty happy with the hardware and software as well and I do agree with you regarding the pros. Regarding the downsides, I haven’t had random shutdowns or restarts. To be honest, I have way less of such issues with MacOS compared to Windows 10, which usually pops up blue screens. I also have some accessories from Apple, such as external keyboards mousse and trackpad. With them, I realized that sometimes they don’t connect automatically, but after using wired connection and taking it away the problem goes away. Thank you very much for your long term review, I really appreciate it and your content in general is amazing and really well done. #m1macbookair :)
Great video, 100% agree with the positives of the Air. Actually picked up MacBook Pro M1 and ended up switching too a refurbished M1 Air with 16gb ram and 512gb SSD from Apple and saved a bundle. First Mac and haven’t looked back.

I got my M1 MBA (8GB/512GB) about two weeks ago, upgrading from my trusty "old" MBP 13-inch late 2011 that has been serving me well all this time...and continues to do so (I still use it about 25% of the time). Interesting! I'm not sure if it has to do with it being Apple-specific peripherals, but Logitech is known to make amazing peripherals so I'm not sure. I've switched from Bluetooth to using the included USB receiver, and it works significantly better.

Great rundown. One thing I will add is that the "fan" a MB Pro 13 has can be a big deal to some users. The MB Air has no fan and as a result throttles down the CPU when it gets hot. 95% of users will never notice this because it runs pretty cool, but the 5% that are super heavy resource users absolutely WILL notice it.
Don’t think that’s a big deal, I have a friend with an Air and another with a Pro, both do 3D Work with blender cycles, and in render times there’s no difference, sometimes one is faster than the other etc. So yeah from my experience, the extra money that you spend on the pro is better to spend in other stuff such as an external ssd!

the reason apple doesn't and will definitely never put face ID and/or a touchscreen on any mac is to keep differences between iPad and Mac. There needs to be differences and different strengths of each device for each product on the line. iPad Pro is best for its performance, size options, AR, and face ID. iPad Air is a better budget iPad computing device, without face ID and smaller size with keyboard compatibility.

I also have both MacBook Air and Logitech MX Master 3 and have the same bluetooth lag problem. A quick fix for that is to turn the mouse off and back on and the lag is gone. It works every time for me.
Yes! I have not regretted downsizing ever since. And its amazing having a laptop that can be as powerful as a desktop. I shoot all my videos with a Sony A7R III and Sony a6600. I use a Rode Video Mic Pro for audio, and some basic lighting, tripods, and booms to put it all together for my shots.

There is a problem with that mouse! I have that mouse and used it with a different computer and I had trouble with it. I've had the MacBook Air m1 for about 5 months and it has never crashed on me. Wonderful laptop for regular user.

You’ll be good my friend! That’s exactly what I use for my professional work here online. And I’d suggest Final Cut Pro if you can afford it. Get the education bundle! It’s much cheaper and your in school so you can take advantage of the discount :)

1. Man, `Awesome background and video production quality.
2. I personally never needed another USB-C port, But I would prefer them to be on both sides of the MacBook.
3. Face ID is extremely fragile, ( it's one of the first things breaking in iPhones, so having it there isn't very useful, ( just in my opinion )

There is a problem with that mouse! I have that mouse and used it with a different computer and I had trouble with it. I've had the MacBook Air m1 for about 5 months and it has never crashed on me. Wonderful laptop for regular user.

I have also recently bought iPhone se previous year and MBA M1 this year....
I am torn in between upgrading the SSD or ram...none actually address this issue...
And I was stupid enough to try to remove key of m1 macbook and broke it do you know how can I fix it ☹
