I had the Nintendo DS version and it was horribly bug-ridden and underpolished. Some parts were nearly unbeatable (the factory specifically.) Is the PC version any better?

I just beat Max: The Curse of Brotherhood on Xbox series X GamePass . It's amazing how much more advanced that game is than this one. I thought it was an excellent game, with a a lot of fairly difficult levels. It had some of the best graphics I've ever seen. I can't believe it was originally made for Xbox 360.
