- This is a little update to my 2020 ARMA 3 Performance Guide. My last guide was done really poorly so I wanted to finally make a good one. Hopefully this guide can blow up like the last one did because I spent a lot more time and effort making it.

Ah yes, arma. The only game that doesnt change fps even if you turn down graphics
Yup, gets annoying. Arma recommends ultra settings for my pc. Only runs at 30fps 💀💀 my mates laptop can run it ultra much better then my pc. 16gb ram, ryzen 7. Gtx 1660 thats my pc. Arma has pol optimisation

It’s a old game that is made to run on single core, it isn’t friendly with modern hardware
Yeah, bit late but I have an rtx 3060 and a i7 11370H (good gpu, bad cpu), in an average multiplayer match my fps is around 15 to 25.

Dude thanks so much for this video. I've been playing on a 5900hx and RTX 3080. I was getting around 40fps! With your guide it's up around 100fps!

I tried a couple different guides for this, THIS ONE ACTUALLY WORKS WELL. IT IS UPDATED TO WORK UP TO DEC 2022. Thank you again soo much. Also, for anyone who plays King of the Hill Servers, here's another little treat to try out while in game. Try shift F2. This will show a little mountain with a slash through it on the left center. It limits view distance down significantly to like 4-6 hundred meters. You can toggle it easily but could easily add significant fps, its not noticeable if your in the city. I dont even notice it unless I am flying. So, when I am, i quickly just toggle it off.
Dude this video is absolutely amazing, I shot from a solid 60 and now I’m sitting anywhere from 145-150. Thank you so much man. Now I can’t get stuck frozen when trying to heal in combat.
Finally built a pc but still need a graphics card. I've used this video in particular many times now to setup arma and it has always worked out. Good guide even if your still running a 1050 ti but everything else being new. this guides still worth following as it still improves your frames even if all but your graphics card is new. Definity do this.

Yeah this is the video to watch. I shot up from 30 fps to over 280 basically mirroring and tweaking the setting in this vid. Absolutely solid.

You're a life saver man! I was running 60 fps before and getting frozen if I got too close to planes and helicopters and basically anything too big for my game. Now I'm at a cool 90-100 FPS!
you are a life saver. I got this game when i upgraded my cpu to a Ryzen 7 3800X and it seemed like it made it worse. Now i can actually play the game!!

You had 205 fps in the settings menu not in game
You were likely stuck at 60 because of v sync.
I also run this game with a reshade preset I use in most of my games. Makes the game more crisp and details more pronounced. In Division 1, it brings out the details in gear, one can almost see each individual thread in vests and clothing.
Is it like a shader pack? Cause if Never heard of this. And i would like to use it myself if its not to hard to install or anything? And can a rtx 3070 run it? The normal one. + i9 10850k and 32 g ram. Or do u need high high high end alien hardware?
@@Fluffyballz Its a bunch of graphics settings or something. Its easy to install, just point it at your Arma.exe and let it go. Im sure you can find some presets on the internet, or make your own if you understand all the different things that are in reshade.

Good stuff, thanks for the refresher, I had forgotten about the CPU, threads and those other settings. Recently upgraded to a 12700k and a 3080... ARMA plays like it should now haha.
Such an underrated youtuber. You need more subs.
You can get a really substantial FPS increase by turning down the sampling rate. It does get a bit blurry that way but you can counteract that by turning up the Sharpen Filter. The filter is much cheaper than rendering at a higher resolution. Play around with different sampling values until you find a good balance between looks and fps boost.

This looks like it works for the campaign , I did the same stuff with ur other vid some time ago, I'm going to try how it does online
Don't forget about enabling Large or huge pages in the parameters.

As I am playing Arma a lot and need the Performance Boost at any cost i tried out your Video solution and here's what I got in FPS:
My Computer has a ryzen 7 2700x, gtx1050ti and 16GB RAM
All FPS are taken from 6 fps counts averaged together:
Normal at a distance of 2000 (most people use this as infantry):
Airport: 82 FPS
Salt lake: 117 FPS
Kavala: 47 FPS
After Applying your Tips and settings:
Airport: 102 FPS
Salt lake: 128 FPS
Kavala: 66 FPS
After enabling -hugepages in the launcher:
Airport: 112 FPS
Salt lake: 135 FPS
Kavala: 66 FPS
My Conclusion is that your Video helped a lot:
In Summary: Your method got me an average of 24.5% Increase in FPS (Which for Arma is huge!!) with the biggest being in Kavala (40%). Using huge pages bumps this even more with an average increase of 30.6% (oof!!!) with again a 40% Increase in Kavala.
You Sir have my best wishes! Use those calculations for what you guys want. My GPU is not really good but it still makes a difference.
Im wondering if unparking my CPU Cores will help even more?

When you eventually upgrade cpu, you'll see an increase too. I had a 2700x a while back and I can confirm that it didn't like arma as much as my 9600k

Dynamic Light can decrease your FPS a bit. It will render the light sources around you and if you're playing in the big city and got low FPS, mind lower it a bit. Denser light source, lower this setting and it will get ugly also.

Hey man I need some serious help, whenever i try to do this my pc makes like a popping noise. Not that cool. I don't know whats going on but i cant do this. I'm using all the correct parameters and everything.
EDIT: it seems to do this all the time regardless of settings, i guess i just wasnt hearing it before now. Weird.

i have a issue i can run a game with like small amount of bots but if i create a scenario like 30 bots i have from 80 fps to 12 30 i dont know what to do

This is brilliant mate. Been hoping for a while that someone would do an updated version of this. I've heard though, you shouldn't mess around the cpu count and hyperthreading parameters if you're using ryzen chips, is this true? I have a 3700x.
I think you can still do the core count but since AMD uses a different method of hyper-threading, I wouldn't mess with the hyper-threading setting.

Thanks, i went from ~45 fps to ~65
So far I have not many objections but I'd say as long you not fly (what I not care at all about) set ur view Distance at around 6k and Object well around 4k (depending on how high you've set ur view distance). Not needs to be the same but not less than 2k less I'd say.
Higher settings here will maybe not help your acctual gameplay and performance but the atmosphere, because you maybe want to see further than you need and it wont have to much impact as long ur system isn't really that bad but that's really up to user and system. But 10k I think it to much because it definitely got an impact on performance, on the other hand as I said I don't fly and only use aircrafts as a transport.
Oh and set clouds to the minimum - it's useless and any effect it has on performance is a wasted loss I think - same as for shadows and here I fully agree!
What Im interested in and don't know is because I have an issue with quite blurry visual ingame, is the AA & PP tab...
My settings here are similiar to yours (even that I have this Anti Aliasing FSAA at x2, ATOC at all grass+trees (not sure why but I go with it) and Aniso. filtering at Standard. But I still have this blurry vision and I cannot really improve it...

So. It kind of worked. IDK if im the only one but I was able to see difference in FSAA settings. They aren't big but they were there. I personally think the bigger problem is that I only got 3 more Frames. Its better then nothing but im not sure if it's what i wanted because now im on 47 Frames form 60. I did keep Boll and Blur on because I like the "REALISM" of not seeing everything in a split second. But if that isn't the problem im not sure what will be. If you wound be so nice you could may help me out...

just some FYI if you have HDMI 1 or 2 the max refresh at 4k is 100mhz...3.5K 3440 × 1440 (≈21:9) 30 Hz max 100 Hz you need a display port to get full 165hz
